| 1 | Discovery of Late Cretaceous foraminifera in the Songliao Basin: Evidence from SK-1 and implications for identifying seawater incursions显示文摘The Songliao Basin is the largest oil-bearing basin in China.In the absence of sufficient evidence,the possibility of seawater incursion(s) into the Songliao Basin remains controversial.Recently,we discovered relatively abundant foraminifera fossils from units 1 and 2 of the Nenjiang Formation of borehole SK-1.Benthic foraminifera (Gavlinella sp.,Anomalinoides sp.,Pullenia sp.,Haplophragmoides sp.,Karrorulina hokkaidoana,Clavulinoides sp.),as well as planktonic foraminifera (Archaeoglobigerina blowi,Archaeoglobigerina cretacea and Hedbergella flandrini),were identified.These fossils were widely distributed in the marine Cretaceous.According to the global distribution of the above-mentioned planktonic foraminifera,the age of these fossil bearing strata appears to be Late Coniacian to Santonian.More importantly,these foraminifera provide direct evidence for marine water incursions into the Songliao Basin during deposition of the Lower Nenjiang Formation. | XI DangPeng WAN XiaoQiao FENG ZhiQiang LI Shun FENG ZiHui JIA JianZhong JING Xia SI WeiMin | 2011 | Chinese Science Bulletin2011,56,3: | 21 |

| 3 | Wolbachia enhances expression of NICYP4CE1 in Nilaparvata lugens in response to imidacloprid stress显示文摘The brown planthopper,Nilaparvata lugens,is one of the main insect pests of rice.The N.lugens gene NICYP4CE1 encodes cytochrome P450 monooxygenase(P450),which is a key enzyme in the metabolism of the insecticide imidacloprid.Previous research has suggested that the expression of NICYP4CEI is induced by imidacloprid stress,but the effect of bacterial symbionts on its expression has not been determined.The results of this study show that exposure to subtoxic imidacloprid changed the structure of the bacterial symbiont community in N.lugens.Specifically,the total bacterial content increased but the bacterial species diversity significantly decreased.Wolbachia accounted for the largest proportion of bacteria in N.lugens;its abundance significantly increased after subtoxic imidacloprid exposure.The transcript level of NICYP4CEI was significantly increased by imidacloprid,but this effect was significantly weakened after Wolbachia was cleared with tetracycline.This result suggests that Wolbachia enhances the expression of N1CYP4CE1 to promote the detoxification metabolic response to imidacloprid stress.Understanding the effect of bacterial symbionts on gene expression in the host provides a new perspective on interactions between insecticides and their target insect pests,and highlights that subtoxic imidacloprid exposure may raise the risk of insecticide resistance by altering the structure of bacterial symbiont communities. | Tingwei Cai Yunhua Zhang Yu Liu Xiaoqian Deng Shun He Jianhong Li Hu Wan | 2021 | Insect Science2021,28,2: | 4 |

| 5 | Semen parameters in men recovered from COVID-19显示文摘The novel coronavirus disease(COVID-19)pandemic is emerging as a global health threat and shows a higher risk for men than women.Thus far,the studies on andrological consequences of COVID-19 are limited.To ascertain the consequences of COVID-19 on sperm parameters after recovery,we recruited 41 reproductive-aged male patients who had recovered from COVID-19,and analyzed their semen parameters and serum sex hormones at a median time of 56 days after hospital discharge.For longitudinal analysis,a second sampling was obtained from 22 of the 41 patients after a median time interval of 29 days from first sampling.Compared with controls who had not suffered from COVID-19,the total sperm count,sperm concentration,and percentages of motile and progressively motile spermatozoa in the patients were significantly lower at first sampling,while sperm vitality and morphology were not affected.The total sperm count,sperm concentration,and number of motile spermatozoa per ejaculate were significantly increased and the percentage of morphologically abnormal sperm was reduced at the second sampling compared with those at first in the 22 patients examined.Though there were higher prolactin and lower progesterone levels in patients at first sampling than those in controls,no significant alterations were detected for any sex hormones examined over time following COVID-19 recovery in the 22 patients.Although it should be interpreted carefully,these findings indicate an adverse but potentially reversible consequence of COVID-19 on sperm quality. | Tong-Hang Guo Mei-Ying Sang Shun Bai Hui Ma Yang-Yang Wan Xiao-Hua Jiang Yuan-Wei Zhang Bo Xu Hong Chen Xue-Ying Zheng Si-Hui Luo Xue-Feng Xie Chen-Jia Gong Jian-Ping Weng Qing-Hua Shi | 2021 | Asian Journal of Andrology2021,23,5: | 2 |
| 6 | miRNAs targeting CYP6ER1 and CarE1 are involved in nitenpyram resistance in Nilaparvata lugens显示文摘The evolution of nitenpyram resistance has been confirmed to be related to overexpression of two key metabolic enzyme genes, CYP6ER1 and CarE1, in Nilaparvata lugens, a highly destructive rice pest that causes substantial economic losses and has developed insecticide resistance. As microRNAs (miRNAs) are important post-transcriptional regulators of gene expression, whether they are involved in nitenpyram resistance is poorly understood in N. lugens. In this study, knockdown of key genes in the miRNA biogenesis pathway (Dicer1, Drosha, and Argonaute1) changed CYP6ER1 and CarE1 abundance, which confirmed the importance of miRNAs in nitenpyram resistance. Furthermore, global screening of miRNAs associated with nitenpyram resistance in N. lugens was performed, and a total of 42 known and 178 novel miRNAs were identified;of these, 57 were differentially expressed between the susceptible and resistant strains, and two (novel_85 and novel_191) were predicted to target CYP6ER1 and CarE1, respectively. Luciferase reporter assays demonstrated that novel_85 and novel_191 bind to the CYP6ER1 and CarE1 coding regions, respectively, and downregulate their expression. Moreover, modulating novel_85 and novel_191 expression by injection of miRNA inhibitors and mimics significantly altered N. lugens nitenpyram susceptibility. | 16 | Effects of drug relief hospital-based AIDS educational methods on drug users显示文摘The objective of this study is to explore a potentially effective training method for the hospital professionals to educate drug users and to enhance their knowledge of HIV infection. One hundred and sixty one subjects, who came from 13 different provinces and were admitted in a drug relief hospital in Beijing, were recruited for this study. The average age of these subjects was 35.21±6.24 year old. The average numbers of years for drug addiction were 7 years, and the average numbers of drug relief treatment received in the past was 5.5 times. The level of AIDS knowledge of these subjects, including pathogenic factors, source of infection, route of transmission and preventive measures, were evaluated before and after receiving the AIDS educational training to these drug users. Our results showed that there was a statistically significant increase (P<0.01) in the knowledge of HIV infection and prevention among these subjects. Positive attitude and behavioral tendencies toward HIV prevention were also improved.
