4Effects of obstructive sleep apnea on retinal microvasculature显示文摘AIM:To detect retinal microvascular variations in obstructive sleep apnea syndrome patients.METHODS:This prospective,observational case-control study included healthy controls and patients with mild,moderate,and severe obstructive sleep apnea syndrome.Vascular parameters,foveal avascular area,and flow areas in macula-centered,6.00×6.00 mm2 scan size optical coherence tomography angiography images were compared.RESULTS:The control group had the highest whole image,parafoveal,and perifoveal vessel density among the groups in both superficial and the deep capillary plexus(all P<0.05).Rapid eye movement sleep apnoea-hypopnoea index was reversely correlated with whole(Rho=-0.195,P=0.034),parafoveal(Rho=-0.242,P=0.008),perifoveal(Rho=-0.187,P=0.045)vessel density in the superficial capillary plexus,and whole(Rho=-0.186,P=0.046),parafoveal(Rho=-0.260,P=0.004),perifoveal(Rho=-0.189,P=0.043)vessel density in the deep capillary plexus,though the mean and non-rapid eye movement sleep apnoeahypopnoea index related with only parafoveal vessel density in the superficial capillary plexus(Rho=-0.213,P=0.020;Rho=-0.191,P=0.038)and the deep capillary plexus(Rho=-0.254,P=0.005;Rho=-0.194,P=0.035).CONCLUSION:This study shows decreased vessel density and its reverse correlation with the apnoea-hypopnoea index in patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome.Müjdat Karabulut Semai Bek Sinem Karabulut Aylin Karalezli Gülnihal Kutlu 2023International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2023,16,10:0
5Application of Chebyshev theorem to data preparation in landslide susceptibility mapping studies:an example from Yenice(Karabük,Turkey)region显示文摘Landslide database construction is one of the most crucial stages of the landslide susceptibility mapping studies.Although there are many techniques for preparing landslide database in the literature,representative data selection from huge data sets is a challenging,and,to some extent,a subjective task.Thus,in order to produce reliable landslide susceptibility maps,data-driven,objective and representative database construction is a very important stage for these maps.This study mainly focuses on a landslide database construction task.In this study,it was aimed at building a representative landslide database extraction approach by using Chebyshev theorem to evaluate landslide susceptibility in a landslide prone area in the WesternBlack Sea region of Turkey.The study area was divided into two different parts such as training(Basin 1) and testing areas(Basin 2).A total of nine parameters such as topographical elevation,slope,aspect,planar and profile curvatures,stream power index,distance to drainage,normalized difference vegetation index and topographical wetness index were used in the study.Next,frequency distributions of the considered parameters in both landslide and nonlandslide areas were extracted using different sampling strategies,and a total of nine different landslide databases were obtained.Of these,eight databases were gathered by the methodology proposed by this study based on different standard deviations and algebraic multiplication of raster parameter maps.To evaluate landslide susceptibility,Artificial Neural Network method was used in thestudy area considering the different landslide and nonlandslide data.Finally,to assess the performance of the so-produced landslide susceptibility map based on nine data sets,Area Under Curve(AUC approach was implemented both in Basin 1 and Basin2.The best performances(the greatest AUC values were gathered by the landslide susceptibility map produced by two standard deviation databas extracted by the Chebyshev theorem,as 0.873 and0.761,respectively.Results revealed that th methodology proposed by this study is a powerful and objective approach in landslide susceptibility mapping.Murat ERCANOGLU Gülseren DAGDELENLER Erman OZSAYIN Tolga ALKEVLI Harun SONMEZ N.Nur OZYURT Burcu KAHRAMAN Ibrahim UCAR Sinem CETINKAYA 2016Journal of Mountain Science2016,13,11:0
6Melatonin ameliorates docetaxel-induced mitochondrial oxidative toxicity and cytokine generation in the laryngo-tracheal epithelial cell显示文摘A protective action of melatonin(MELAT)on docetaxel(DCT)-induced inflammation,apoptosis,and reactive free oxygen radical(fROS)generation values via blocking of TRPM2 calcium-permeable channel was investigated in different cells except for laryngo-tracheal epithelial(LT-Epi)cells.Hence,the protective action ofMELAT on DCT-induced oxidative toxicity and inflammation in LT-Epi tissue and cells of mice were investigated in the current study.MELAT treatment ameliorated DCTinduced mitochondrial ROS in the LT-Epi cells by reducing the generation of fROS(cytosolic and mitochondrial),lipid peroxidation,and depolarization of the mitochondrial membrane,while increasing reduced glutathione(GSH),GSH peroxidase,and total antioxidant status.In addition,DCT-induced increases of cytokine(IL-1β,IL-6,and TNF-α)generations were also diminished in the LT-Epi tissue by MELAT treatment.Furthermore,MELAT treatment increased viability and count of the cells followed by decreasing levels of cell death,caspase-3,and-9.The TRPM2 activity was also reduced by MELAT and TRPM2 channel blocker(ACA)treatments.In conclusion,MELAT modulated the increase of DCT-induced LT-Epi cell death by inhibiting mitochondrial oxidative stress and TRPM2 channel activity.Hence,DCTcaused side cell death,oxidant,and inflammatory actions in the LT-Epi were diminished via the treatment of MELAT.SINEM GÖKÇE KÜTÜK MUSTAFA NAZIROĞLU 2021BIOCELL2021,45,1:0
