| 1 | Transmission of vector vortex beams in dispersive media显示文摘Scattering phenomena affect light propagation through any kind of medium from free space to biological tissues.Finding appropriate strategies to increase the robustness to scattering is the common requirement in developing both communication protocols and imaging systems.Recently,structured light has attracted attention due to its seeming scattering resistance in terms of transmissivity and spatial behavior.Moreover,correlation between optical polarization and orbital angular momentum(OAM),which characterizes the so-called vector vortex beams(VVBs)states,seems to allow for the preservation of the polarization pattern.We extend the analysis by investigating both the spatial features and the polarization structure of vectorial optical vortexes propagating in scattering media with different concentrations.Among the observed features,we find a sudden swift decrease in contrast ratio for Gaussian,OAM,and VVB modes for concentrations of the adopted scattering media exceeding 0.09%.Our analysis provides a more general and complete study on the propagation of structured light in dispersive and scattering media. | Ilaria Gianani Alessia Suprano Taira Giordani NicolòSpagnolo Fabio Sciarrino Dimitris Gorpas Vasilis Ntziachristos Katja Pinker Netanel Biton Judy Kupferman Shlomi Arnong | 2020 | Advanced Photonics2020,2,3: | 7 |
| 2 | Thermally reconfigurable quantum photonic circuits at telecom wavelength by femtosecond laser micromachining显示文摘The importance of integrated quantum photonics in the telecom band is based on the possibility of interfacing with the optical network infrastructure that was developed for classical communications.In this framework,femtosecond laser-written integrated photonic circuits,which have already been assessed for use in quantum information experiments in the 800-nm wavelength range,have great potential.In fact,these circuits,being written in glass,can be perfectly mode-matched at telecom wavelength to the in/out coupling fibers,which is a key requirement for a low-loss processing node in future quantum optical networks.In addition,for several applications,quantum photonic devices must be dynamically reconfigurable.Here,we experimentally demonstrate the high performance of femtosecond laser-written photonic circuits for use in quantum experiments in the telecom band,and we demonstrate the use of thermal shifters,which were also fabricated using the same femtosecond laser,to accurately tune such circuits.State-of-the-art manipulation of single-and two-photon states is demonstrated,with fringe visibilities greater than 95%.The results of this work open the way to the realization of reconfigurable quantum photonic circuits based on this technological platform. | Fulvio Flamini Lorenzo Magrini Adil S Rab Nicolo Spagnolo Vincenzo D’Ambrosio Paolo Mataloni Fabio Sciarrino Tommaso Zandrini Andrea Crespi Roberta Ramponi Roberto Osellame | 2015 | Light(Science & Applications)2015,4,1: | 5 |

| 4 | Immune response to vaccines in children with celiac disease显示文摘Celiac disease(CD) is an immune-mediated systemic condition evoked by ingestion of gluten and related prolamines in genetically susceptible subjects. The disease is featured by a variable combination of clinical signs, specific antibodies, HLA-DQ2 and HLA-DQ8 haplotypes, and enteropathy. Vaccination is the most potent intervention for infectious disease prevention. Several factors including age, gender, ethnicity, quality and quantity of vaccine antigen, doses, and route of administration can influence immune response to vaccination, although the main cause of variation in the responsiveness among vaccine recipients is host genetic variability. The HLA system has a fundamental role in identifying the antigens introduced into the host with the vaccines and in the development of specific antibodies, and some HLA phenotypes have been associated with a less effective immunological response. The available literature indicates that the immunological response to vaccines in CD children does not differ markedly from that of general population and antibody titres are high enough to provide long-term protection, except for hepatitis B virus vaccine.
