14Adaptive Resource Planning for AI Workloads with Variable Real-Time Tasks显示文摘AI(Artificial Intelligence)workloads are proliferating in modernreal-time systems.As the tasks of AI workloads fluctuate over time,resourceplanning policies used for traditional fixed real-time tasks should be reexamined.In particular,it is difficult to immediately handle changes inreal-time tasks without violating the deadline constraints.To cope with thissituation,this paper analyzes the task situations of AI workloads and findsthe following two observations.First,resource planning for AI workloadsis a complicated search problem that requires much time for optimization.Second,although the task set of an AI workload may change over time,thepossible combinations of the task sets are known in advance.Based on theseobservations,this paper proposes a new resource planning scheme for AIworkloads that supports the re-planning of resources.Instead of generatingresource plans on the fly,the proposed scheme pre-determines resourceplans for various combinations of tasks.Thus,in any case,the workload isimmediately executed according to the resource plan maintained.Specifically,the proposed scheme maintains an optimized CPU(Central Processing Unit)and memory resource plan using genetic algorithms and applies it as soonas the workload changes.The proposed scheme is implemented in the opensourcesimulator SimRTS for the validation of its effectiveness.Simulationexperiments show that the proposed scheme reduces the energy consumptionof CPU and memory by 45.5%on average without deadline misses.Sunhwa Annie Nam Kyungwoon Cho Hyokyung Bahn 2023Computers, Materials & Continua2023,,3:0
15Quality control methods for KOOS operational sea surface temperature products显示文摘Sea surface temperature SST obtained from the initial version of the Korea Operational Oceanographic System(KOOS) SST satellite have low accuracy during summer and daytime. This is attributed to the diurnal warming effect. Error estimation of SST data must be carried out to use the real-time forecasting numerical model of the KOOS. This study suggests two quality control methods for the KOOS SST system. To minimize the diurnal warming effect, SSTs of areas where wind speed is higher than 5 m/s were used. Depending on the wind threshold value, KOOS SST data for August 2014 were reduced by 0.15°C. Errors in SST data are considered to be a combination of random, sampling, and bias errors. To estimate bias error, the standard deviation of bias between KOOS SSTs and climatology SSTs were used. KOOS SST data yielded an analysis error standard deviation value similar to OSTIA and NOAA NCDC(OISST) data. The KOOS SST shows lower random and sampling errors with increasing number of observations using six satellite datasets. 16Estimating the instantaneous reproduction number(Rt)by using particle filter显示文摘Background:Monitoring the transmission of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)requires accurate estimation of the effective reproduction number(Rt).However,existing methods for calculating Rt may yield biased estimates if important real-world factors,such as delays in confirmation,pre-symptomatic transmissions,or imperfect data observation,are not considered.Method:To include real-world factors,we expanded the susceptible-exposed-infectiousrecovered(SEIR)model by incorporating pre-symptomatic(P)and asymptomatic(A)states,creating the SEPIAR model.By utilizing both stochastic and deterministic versions of the model,and incorporating predetermined time series of Rt,we generated simulated datasets that simulate real-world challenges in estimating Rt.We then compared the performance of our proposed particle filtering method for estimating Rt with the existing EpiEstim approach based on renewal equations.Results:The particle filtering method accurately estimated Rt even in the presence of data with delays,pre-symptomatic transmission,and imperfect observation.When evaluating via the root mean square error(RMSE)metric,the performance of the particle filtering method was better in general and was comparable to the EpiEstim approach if perfectly deconvolved infection time series were provided,and substantially better when Rt exhibited short-term fluctuations and the data was right truncated.Conclusions:The SEPIAR model,in conjunction with the particle filtering method,offers a reliable tool for predicting the transmission trend of COVID-19 and assessing the impact of intervention strategies.This approach enables enhanced monitoring of COVID-19 transmission and can inform public health policies aimed at controlling the spread of the disease.Yong Sul Won Woo-Sik Son Sunhwa Choi Jong-Hoon Kim 2023Infectious Disease Modelling2023,8,4:0
