1Physiological mechanisms of resistance to cold stress associated with 10 elite apple rootstocks显示文摘A study was conducted in attempting to identify the cold-resistant apple rootstocks and to establish a comprehensive evaluation system. In this study, 10 elite apple dwarfing rootstocks(GM256, JM7, M26, M7, SC1, SH1, SH38, SH6, M9, and T337) were employed for the experiment and the following parameters were investigated under different low temperature stress conditions(0, –15, –20, –25, –30, and –35°C): the changes of the relative electrical conductivity(REC), anthocyanin content, protein content, soluble sugar content, soluble starch content, proline content, malondialdehyde(MDA) content, superoxide dismutase(SOD) activity, and peroxidase(POD) activity of the dormant branches. The inflection temperature that could represent the plant tissue semi-lethal temperature(LT_(50)) was obtained by the measurements of REC. The LT_(50) was used to evaluate eight other indices. The results showed that there was no significant correlation between LT_(50) and POD activity as well as between the soluble sugar, protein and proline contents at 0 and –15°C. Soluble starch content at 0 and –15°C and anthocyanin content at –15–(–30)°C were significantly but negatively correlated to the LT50 and the MDA content at 0–(–20)°C was significantly positively correlated to the LT_(50). 2TuLP: A Family of Lightweight Message Authentication Codes for Body Sensor Networks显示文摘A wireless sensor network(WSN) commonly requires lower level security for public information gathering, whilst a body sensor network(BSN) must be secured with strong authenticity to protect personal health information. In this paper, some practical problems with the message authentication codes(MACs), which were proposed in the popular security architectures for WSNs, are reconsidered. The analysis shows that the recommended MACs for WSNs, e.g., CBCMAC(TinySec), OCB-MAC(MiniSec), and XCBC-MAC(SenSec), might not be exactly suitable for BSNs. Particularly an existential forgery attack is elaborated on XCBC-MAC. Considering the hardware limitations of BSNs, we propose a new family of tunable lightweight MAC based on the PRESENT block cipher. The first scheme, which is named TuLP, is a new lightweight MAC with 64-bit output range. The second scheme, which is named TuLP-128, is a 128-bit variant which provides a higher resistance against internal collisions. 3Consensus views on competencies and teaching methods for an interprofessional curriculum on complementary and integrative medicine:A Delphi study显示文摘Objective:A collaborative team is necessary to help patients achieve their healthcare goals using complementary medicine.At present,healthcare professionals do not feel sufficiently qualified to provide this service.This study sought to identify competencies and teaching methods for interprofessional training on complementary and integrative medicine at medical schools.Methods:Sixty-five German-speaking experts with various professional backgrounds were invited to take part in a three-round Delphi study.In the first round,predefined competencies were assessed on a seven-point Likert scale,and participants were invited to propose additional competencies that would be evaluated in the subsequent rounds.The competencies were ranked based on the participant assessments and were assigned to four relevance groups.In the second and third rounds,suitable teaching methods were identified using free-text fields and multiple-choice questions.In a final workshop,participants synthesized the outcomes of the previous sessions and derived key competencies that would be a benefit to undergraduate interprofessional training in complementary and integrative medicine at medical schools.Results:The three rounds plus final worksop were attended by 50,40,36 and 11 experts.The competencies that these experts determined to be highly relevant to teaching complementary and integrative medicine emphasized,in particular,the respectful treatment of patients and the importance of taking a medical history.From these highly relevant competencies,three key targets were agreed upon in the final workshop:students are able to 1)classify and assess complementary medical terms and methods;2)work collaboratively and integrate patients into the interprofessional team;3)involve patients and their relatives respectfully and empathetically in all healthcare processes.To achieve these competency goals,the following teaching methods were highlighted:students discuss therapy options based on authentic patient cases with each other and practice empathic patient communication incorporating complementary medicine.Further,the theoretical background of complementary medicines could be provided as online-training,to use the class sessions for hands-on exercises and interprofessional exchange and discussion.Conclusion:Despite the heterogeneous panel of experts,a consensus was reached on the competency orientation and teaching approaches.The results can promote the implementation of interprofessional training for complementary medicine in undergraduate education.Angelika Homberg Katja Krug Nadja Klafke Katharina Glassen Cornelia Mahler Svetla Loukanova 2021Journal of Integrative Medicine2021,19,3:2

10Effect of UV Radiation and Other Abiotic Stress Factors on DNA of Different Wild Plant Species Grown in Three Successive Seasons in Alpine and Subalpine Regions显示文摘Plants in natural ecosystems are exposed to a combination of UV radiation,ionizing radiation(IR)and other abiotic factors.These factors change with the altitude.We investigated DNA alterations of some wild plants of different plant families in natural ecosystems at three altitudes in Rila Mountain,Bulgaria(1500,1782,and 2925 m above sea level(a.s.l.)exposed to UV radiation,IR and other abiotic stresses,to assess the tolerance of plant species to the changing environmental conditions in three successive growth seasons.For this purpose,physicochemical,cytogenetic,and molecular methods were applied.DNA damage was assessed by micronucleus test and molecular method comet assay adapted and applied by us to wild plant species from Onagraceae,Rosaceae,Boraginaceae,Saxifragaceae,Orobanchaceae,Asteraceae and Poaceae families,growing at three different altitudes.Variability in the DNA sensitivity and the level of tolerance was observed among the plant species in response to combined abiotic factors assessed by induced DNA damage and gross beta activity.The studied representatives of Poaceae were less susceptible than the other studied species at all three altitudes and showed close level of DNA injuries to that of unaffected control plant grown in laboratory conditions.The lower levels of DNA damage of these wild plant species corresponded to their lower ability to accumulate radionuclides.There was a particularly pronounced low level of DNA injuries in the plant species at the highest altitude.The level of DNA damage showed correlation with the values of some abiotic environmental factors.The results would contribute to the elucidation of the extent of adaptation of plant species to the continuously changing environment and would be useful in selecting sensitive herbaceous monitor species for environmental impact assessment at mountain and alpine sites.Svetla P.Gateva Gabriele Jovtchev Tsveta V.Angelova Tzvetana P.Nonova Nikolay Tyutyundzhiev Elena G.Geleva Kostadin Katrandzhiev Nina A.Nikolova Dimitar Dimitrov Christo V.Angelov 2022Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2022,91,2:1

12Doing Post-Western sociology in Central and Eastern Europe before and after the Great Change:some epistemological questions显示文摘Analyzing the sociology in Central and Eastern Europe before and after the Great Change in 1989,the article aims to present the main epistemological questions that Post-Western sociology raises for the discipline of sociology as a whole.The focus is put on a paradoxical feature in the development of sociology in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe:before 1989,under conditions of Marxist monoparadigmality,relative isolation of scientific cognition,and political and ideological pressure,sociological research in these countries was characterized by methodological rigor and conceptual innovativeness,while after 1989,in the context of institutionalized plurality of paradigms(polyparadigmality),and intensive scientific exchange,the dominant tendency is—for social scientists in the countries in question—to borrow methodologies,theories,and concepts from the Western sociological tradition,without analyzing the epistemic relevance of these loans with regard to the societies in which they are applied.This paradox is examined in terms of sociological production in two research fields:the general sociological theory of society and sociology of youth.Comparing studies and analyses carried out in these two fields in Central and Eastern Europe before and after the Great Change,the article demonstrates that Post-Western sociology is a valid research posture for a wide variety of sociological practices regardless of the concrete national,theoretical,or institutional frameworks in which researchers are working.Sensitivity to the context of research is what permits Post-Western sociology to eliminate cognitive hierarchies and inequalities and restores the epistemic autonomy of each cognitive practice,emphasizing the inevitable cultural variations in the interpretation of one and the same phenomenon and the impact of these variations on methodology.In this sense,Post-Western sociology raises important epistemological problems regarding the relationship between maintaining the disciplinary principles of sociological knowledge on the one hand,and the application of those principles in different epistemic contexts on the other hand.The main question could be formulated as follows:how does Post-Western sociology enrich the deontological and epistemological principles of the discipline and in what way does it contribute to developing its scientific project?Svetla Koleva 2020The Journal of Chinese Sociology2020,7,1:0
