Technological monitoring of subgrade construction on high-temperature permafrost显示文摘Three stages of complex technological monitoring for the increase of high-temperature-permafrost soil bearing capacity are described. The feasibility of process monitoring to improve the targeted strength properties of subgrade bases on frozen soils is demonstrated. The rationale for the necessity of predictive modeling of freeze-thaw actions during the subgrade construction period is provided. | Svyatoslav Ya.Lutskiy Taisia V.Shepitko Alexander M.Cherkasov | 2015 | Research in Cold and Arid Regions2015,7,4: | 2

Thermodynamic and rate variational formulation of models for inhomogeneous gradient materials with microstructure and application to phase field modeling显示文摘In this work, thermodynamic models for the energetics and kinetics of inhomogeneous gradient materials with microstructure are formulated in the context of continuum thermodynamics and material theory. For simplicity, attention is restricted to isothermal conditions. The materials of interest here are characterized by(1) first- and secondorder gradients of the deformation field and(2) a kinematic microstructure field and its gradient(e.g.,in the sense of director, micromorphic or Cosserat microstructure).Material inhomogeneity takes the form of multiple phases and chemical constituents, modeled here with the help of corresponding phase fields.Invariance requirements together with the dissipation principle result in the reduced model field and constitutive relations.Special cases of these include the wellknown Cahn-Hilliard and Ginzburg-Landau relations. In the last part of the work, initial boundary value problems for this class of materials are formulated with the help of rate variational methods. | Svyatoslav Gladkov Bob Svendsen | 2015 | Acta Mechanica Sinica2015,31,2: | 1

Isolator-free unidirectional thulium-doped fiber laser显示文摘We report the first demonstration of a unidirectional,isolator-free 2-μm thulium-doped fiber(TDF)laser, relying on the properties of the theta cavity(ring resonator with S-shaped feedback). The core pumped theta cavity TDF laser provides sub-Watt output power with a slope efficiency of 25%,a 2 dB flat tuning range of 1900–2050 nm,and a linewidth of 0.2 nm,and achieves the extinction ratio of 18–25 dB(depending on the feedback value)between the favored and suppressed lasing directions. It is shown that these characteristics are competitive with,if not superior to,those of conventional ring cavities. The simulation results of the linear and Kerr-nonlinear theta cavities are also presented, explaining certain unexpected features of the laser behavior and establishing the importance of the doped fiber nonlinearity on the spectral shaping of the emitted signal. | Svyatoslav Kharitonov Camille-Sophie Bres | 2015 | Light(Science & Applications)2015,4,1: | 1

Grazing rate and feeding selectivity of small and large bodied cladocerans in waters from lakes with different salinity and phytoplankton structure显示文摘Cladocera are filter feeders abundant in freshwaters, which consume phytoplankton particles in wide size and taxonomic ranges. The ability of cladocerans to control phytoplankton abundance by grazing is determined by various factors including the characteristics of phytoplankton.Freshwater salinization may reduce the strength of top-down grazing control of phytoplankton because of the detrimental effects of salinity on the grazing intensity of zooplankters. We performed grazing experiments with two species of Cladocera of different body lengths to test their ability to graze on phytoplankton in natural waters differing in salinity and size and taxonomic composition of food particles.Grazing experiments demonstrated that the grazing rate was mostly controlled by the abundance of phytoplankton in the medium. The grazing rate was reduced at salinity ca.above 3 g/L of NaCl in the medium. The lower grazing rate was observed in the medium with larger phytoplankton particles. Both species predominantly consumed phytoplankton particles with a diameter of 6-12μm,which may shift the size distribution of phytoplankton towards a larger average diameter of particles. The taxon-specific feeding was also observed,as both species predominantly consumed diatom algae. Thus,we found that because of grazing, the size and taxonomic characteristics of phytoplankton are shifted towards a less edible community. The detrimental effect of elevated salinity on grazing rate supports growing concern about freshwater salinization negatively affecting water quality, particularly reducing top-down grazing control of phytoplankton. | Egor ZADEREEV Tatiana LOPATINA Svyatoslav OVCHINNIKOV Alexander TOLOMEEV | 2023 | Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2023,41,4: | 0

Entropy of Measurements of Electric and Non-eleCtric Systems Fluctuating Parameters显示文摘Fluctuations of the measured parameters of the investigated electric and non-electric systems are considered on the thermodynamics basis. We have defined that entropy of the investigated system in relation to environment depends on the correlation between measuring durationТmeas of the system’s fluctuation parameter and the system’s relaxation timeτ.Decrement of the energy spectrum of fluctuations with the decrease of frequency is explained byТmeas>τ.WhenТmeas≈Nmaxτ(where Nmax is the number of possible ways to create the balanced state of the system),entropy of investigated system tends to zero in relation to the environment, and the measurement error caused by fluctuations becomes the minimal. | Zenoviy Kolodiy Svyatoslav Yatsyshyn | 2018 | Journal of Electronic Research and Application2018,2,3: | 0
