| 1 | Influence of high-fluorine environmental background on crops and human health in hot spring-type fluorosis-diseased areas显示文摘Drinking water-type fluorosis is the most harmful endemic disease in China with the largest number of sufferers. Although the implementation of the policy to alter water sources to lower fluoride level has effectively controlled the spread of this kind of endemic disease,its prevalence could not thoroughly be stopped because the high-fluoride environmental background in these endemically diseased areas could still do harm to human health through food chain. Therefore,it is necessary to conduct a more deep-going study on the drinking water-type fluoro-sis. To investigate the effect of high fluorine environmental background on crops and human health in the hot spring-type fluorosis-diseased areas,local water,paddy soil,rice,whole vegetables and soils around their roots were sampled for analysis. The results were compared with those of the control groups in fluorosis-free areas which are similar to the fluorosis-diseased areas both in natural background and in social background. It is indicated that rice and vegetables can accumulate water-soluble fluorine either in soils or in irrigating water,and different crops have different abilities of fixing fluorine. The contents of fluorine in different parts of vegetables in the fluorosis-diseased and fluorosis-free areas were statistically categorized. The results showed that the fluorine contents of roots,tubers,leaves and flowers of vegetables in the fluorosis-diseased areas are 3.56,1.17,3.07 and 3.23 mg/kg,respectively. However,comparisons showed that in the fluorosis-free areas,the fluorine contents are 2.17,0.70,1.91 and 2.52 mg/kg,respectively. Moreover,different parts of a crop also show significantly different fluorine fixation abilities. It is demonstrated that the fluorine contents of the strongly metabolic parts are relatively high. For example,the fluo-rine contents of roots,leaves and flowers of vegetables are much higher than those of stems. The fluorine fixation ability of seeds is very weak. In order to reduce the risk of human body’s exposure to fluoride,the impact of hot spring water on the capability of crops to fix fluorine should be reduced as much as possible. | 3 | QTLs for ovicidal response to whitebacked planthopper in rice显示文摘Japanese japonica rice commonly provides with an ovicidal resistance against the whitebacked planthopper (WBPH). Similarly, ovicidal activity was also found to play a significant role in a stable field resistance to WBPH in some Chinese japonica rice. Rice varieties with ovicidal resistance characterized by watery lesions and subsequent necrotic symptom in the leaf sheaths ovipositied by WBPH. Based on the ovicidal symptom, the ovicidal QTLs on the rice chromosomes were analyzed by using a doubled haploid (DH) population of 122 lines derived from a cross between a non ovicidal indica variety Zaiyeqing 8 (ZYQ 8) and an ovicidal japonica variety Jingxi 17 (JX 17). There was a significant difference in WBPH egg mortality between the two varieties. | 4 | Maize leaf disease identification using deep transfer convolutional neural networks显示文摘Gray leaf spot,common rust,and northern leaf blight are three common maize leaf diseases that cause great economic losses to the worldwide maize industry.Timely and accurate disease identification can reduce economic losses,pesticide usage,and ensure maize yield and food security.Deep learning methods,represented by convolutional neural networks(CNNs),provide accurate,effective,and automatic diagnosis on server platforms when enormous training data is available.Restricted by dataset scale and application scenarios,CNNs are difficult to identify small-scale data sets on mobile terminals,while the lightweight networks,designed for the mobile terminal,achieve a better balance between efficiency and accuracy.This paper proposes a two-staged deep-transfer learning method to identify maize leaf diseases in the field.During the deep learning period,8 deep and 4 lightweight CNN models were trained and compared on the Plant Village dataset,and ResNet and MobileNet achieved test accuracy of 99.48%and 98.69%respectively,which were then migrated onto the field maize leave disease dataset collected on mobile phones.By using layer-freezing and fine-tuning strategies on ResNet and MobileNet,fine-tuned MobileNet achieved the best accuracy of 99.11%.Results confirmed that disease identification performance from lightweight CNNs was not inferior to that of deep CNNs and transfer learning training efficiency was higher when lacking training samples.Besides,the smaller gaps between source and target domains,the better the identification performance for transfer learning.This study provides an application example for maize disease identification in the field using deep-transfer learning and provides a theoretical basis for intelligent maize leaf disease identification from images captured with mobile devices. | Zheng Ma Yue Wang Tengsheng Zhang Hongguang Wang Yingjiang Jia Rui Gao Zhongbin Su | 2022 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2022,15,5: | 1 |

| 8 | Somatic hybridization between rice and ap.omictic Panicum显示文摘Protoplasts from suspension-culture cells of japonica rice cultivar 02428 (Oryza sativa L.)were inactivated with 2.5 mM indoacetamide (IDA) at room temperature (22-25℃) for 15 minutes before fusion. The nonmorphogenic protoplasts from suspension culture of apromictic Panicum maximum Jacq. were treated with 60 Kr soft X-ray or with no treat ment. These inactivated protoplast mixtures were fused by electrofusion or PEG method and incubated. After incubation, over 50 putative rice cybrids plantlets were obtained. A mong them, 28 regenerated plants were vigorously growing and flowering. Comparing with the original rice parental plants, these fusion-cell derived plants have remarkahle variation in morphology and structure on the flower organ.
