| 1 | 2D organic semiconductors, the future of green nanotechnology显示文摘The discovery of 2D organic semiconductors of atomically thin structures has attracted great attention due to their emerging optical, electronic, optoelectronic and mechatronic properties. Recent progress in such organic nanostructures has opened new opportunities for engineering material properties in many ways, such as, 0D/1D/2D nanoparticles hybridization, strain engineering, atomic doping etc. Moreover, 2D organic nanostructures exhibit a unique feature of bio–functionality and are highly sensitive to bio-analytes. Such peculiar behavior in 2D organics can be utilized to design highly-efficient bio-sensors. Also, a bio-molecular integrated electronic/optoelectronic device with enhanced performance can be attained. Furthermore, the bio-degradable, biocompatible, biometabolizable, non-toxic behaviour and natural origin of organic nanomaterials can address the current ecological concerns of increasing inorganic material based electronic waste. This review highlights the benefits of 2D organic semiconductors. Considering the importance of strategic techniques for growing thin 2D organic layers,this review summarizes progress towards this direction. The possible challenges for long-time stability and future research directions in 2D organic nano electronics/optoelectronics are also discussed. | 2 | Formation of regulated and unregulated disinfection byproducts during chlorination and chloramination: Roles of dissolved organic matter type, bromide, and iodide显示文摘Algal blooms and wastewater effluents can introduce algal organic matter(AOM) and effluent organic matter(Ef OM) into surface waters, respectively. In this study, the impact of bromide and iodide on the formation of halogenated disinfection byproducts(DBPs) during chlorination and chloramination from various types of dissolved organic matter(DOM, e.g., natural organic matter(NOM), AOM, and Ef OM) were investigated based on the data collected from literature. In general, higher formation of trihalomethanes(THMs) and haloacetic acids(HAAs) was observed in NOM than AOM and Ef OM, indicating high reactivities of phenolic moieties with both chlorine and monochloramine. The formation of haloacetaldehydes(HALs), haloacetonitriles(HANs) and haloacetamides(HAMs) was much lower than THMs and HAAs. Increasing initial bromide concentrations increased the formation of THMs, HAAs, HANs, and HAMs, but not HALs. Bromine substitution factor(BSF) values of DBPs formed in chlorination decreased as specific ultraviolet absorbance(SUVA) increased. AOM favored the formation of iodinated THMs(I-THMs) during chloramination using preformed chloramines and chlorination-chloramination processes. Increasing prechlorination time can reduce the I-THM concentrations because of the conversion of iodide to iodate, but this increased the formation of chlorinated and brominated DBPs. In an analogous way, iodine substitution factor(ISF) values of I-THMs formed in chloramination decreased as SUVA values of DOM increased. | 3 | Effect of acupressure on procedural pain before heel lancing in neonates显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effect of acupressure applied to UB60 and K3 acupuncture points in order to relieve the procedural pain caused by heel lancing blood sampling process in the term newborns.METHODS:The data were collected by using the Information Form and the Neonatal Infant Pain Scale.Acupressure applied for 3 min before heel lancing blood sampling in the newborns in the experimental group(n=31).No intervention was applied to newborns in the control group(n=32).RESULTS:A significant difference was found between mean scores of the newborns in the control and acupressure group in favor of the acupressure group in terms of heart rate during and after the procedure,oxygen saturation before,during and after the procedure,duration of crying during and after the procedure(P<0.05).It was found that there was a significant difference between groups in terms of Neonatal Infant Pain Scale mean scores during(P=0.001)and after the procedure(P<0.05),and the difference was found to be in favor of the acupressure group.CONCLUSION:As a result,acupressure was found to be an effective method in relieving pain caused by heel lancing blood sampling in newborns. | Tanju Oğul Fatma Yilmaz Kurt | 2021 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2021,41,2: | 2 |
| 4 | Impact of combining chlorine dioxide and chlorine on DBP formation in simulated indoor swimming pools显示文摘The main objective of this study was to assess the combined use of chlorine dioxide(ClO_2)and chlorine(Cl_2) on the speciation and kinetics of disinfection by-product(DBP) formation in swimming pools using synthetic pool waters prepared with a body fluid analog(BFA)and/or fresh natural water. At 1:25(mass ratio) of ClO_2 to Cl_2, there was no significant reduction in the formation of trihalomethanes(THMs) and haloacetic acids(HAAs) for both BFA solution and natural water compared to the application of Cl_2 alone. When the mass ratio of ClO_2 to Cl_2increased to 1:1, substantial decreases in both THMs and HAAs were observed in the natural water, while there was almost no change of DBP formations in the BFA solution. Haloacetonitriles and halonitromethanes levels in both water matrices remained similar. In the presence of bromide, the overall DBP formation increased in both BFA solution and natural water. For the DBP formation kinetics, after 72 hr of contact time,very low formation of THMs and HAAs was observed for the use of ClO_2 only. Compared to Cl_2 control, however, applying the 1:1 mixture of ClO_2/Cl_2 reduced THMs by > 60% and HAAs by > 50%. Chlorite was maintained below 1.0 mg/L, while the formation of chlorate significantly increased over the reaction time.
