1Optical manipulation from the microscale to the nanoscale: fundamentals, advances and prospects显示文摘Since the invention of optical tweezers,optical manipulation has advanced significantly in scientific areas such as atomic physics,optics and biological science.Especially in the past decade,numerous optical beams and nanoscale devices have been proposed to mechanically act on nanoparticles in increasingly precise,stable and flexible ways.Both the linear and angular momenta of light can be exploited to produce optical tractor beams,tweezers and optical torque from the microscale to the nanoscale.Research on optical forces helps to reveal the nature of light–matter interactions and to resolve the fundamental aspects,which require an appropriate description of momenta and the forces on objects in matter.In this review,starting from basic theories and computational approaches,we highlight the latest optical trapping configurations and their applications in bioscience,as well as recent advances down to the nanoscale.Finally,we discuss the future prospects of nanomanipulation,which has considerable potential applications in a variety of scientific fields and everyday life.Dongliang Gao Weiqiang Ding Manuel Nieto-Vesperinas Xumin Ding Mahdy Rahman Tianhang Zhang ChweeTeck Lim Cheng-Wei Qiu 2017Light(Science & Applications)2017,6,1:16
2Adversarial Attacks and Defenses in Deep Learning显示文摘With the rapid developments of artificial intelligence(AI)and deep learning(DL)techniques,it is critical to ensure the security and robustness of the deployed algorithms.Recently,the security vulnerability of DL algorithms to adversarial samples has been widely recognized.The fabricated samples can lead to various misbehaviors of the DL models while being perceived as benign by humans.Successful implementations of adversarial attacks in real physical-world scenarios further demonstrate their practicality.Hence,adversarial attack and defense techniques have attracted increasing attention from both machine learning and security communities and have become a hot research topic in recent years.In this paper,we first introduce the theoretical foundations,algorithms,and applications of adversarial attack techniques.We then describe a few research efforts on the defense techniques,which cover the broad frontier in the field.Several open problems and challenges are subsequently discussed,which we hope will provoke further research efforts in this critical area.Kui Ren Tianhang Zheng Zhan Qin Xue Liu 2020Engineering2020,6,3:10

4A Rapid Analysis Tool for Aerodynamics/Aerothermodynamics of Hypersonic Vehicles显示文摘A rapid engineering surface panel method to analyze aerodynamics and aerothermodynamics of hypersonic vehicles is developed.To obtain the surface pressure distribution of a hypersonic vehicle,the local surface inclination method is applied to calculate the pressure coefficient for each surface panel element,of which the normal vector is corrected first by using an efficient data structure and Rey-casting algorithm,local Reynolds numbers are calculated according to the geometric streamline method,then the aerodynamic heating flux is computed by both reference enthalpy relations and Reynolds analogy method.Several typical test cases are performed and the results indicate that,the developed tool is effective in predicting the aerodynamics/aerothermodynamics for complex geometry of hypersonic vehicle in a wide range of Mach numbers with a sufficient accuracy.Li Zhengzhou Xiao Tianhang Lü Fanxi Yu Xiongqing Zhang Zhenming Du Sha 2017Transactions of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics2017,34,4:7
5Co3O4 nanocage derived from metal-organic frameworks: An excellent cathode catalyst for rechargeable Li-O2 battery显示文摘Rechargeable non-aqueous Li-O2 battery is regarded as one of the most promising energy-storage technologies on account of its high energy density.It is believed that the rational design of three-dimensional (3D) architecture for catalyst is a key factor for the remarkable performance.Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) derived materials possess excellent architecture,which is beneficial for Li-O2 batteries.In this work,ZIF-67 is used as precursor template and calcinated under different temperature to produce Co3O4 crystals.When the anneal treatment is under 350℃,the derived Co3O4 nanocage holds the most complete skeleton,which provides better charge transfer ability as well as O2 and Li^+ diffusion.Meanwhile,the Co3O4 nanocage owns more oxygen vacancies,offering more active sites.With the synergistic effect of nanocage structure and active sites,the Co3O4 nanocage stably delivers a large specific capacity of 15,500 mAh·g^-1 as well as a long cycle-life of 132 cycles at limited discharge capacity of 1,000 mAh·g^-1 under discharge/charge current density of 0.5 A·g^-1.Zhuoliang Jiang Hui Sun Wenke Shi Tianhang Zhou Jianyong Hu Jingyang Cheng Pengfei Hu Shigang Sun 2019Nano Research2019,12,7:5
6A fast and automatic full-potential finite volume solver on Cartesian grids for unconventional configurations显示文摘To meet the requirements of fast and automatic computation of subsonic and transonic aerodynamics in aircraft conceptual design,a novel finite volume solver for full potential flows on adaptive Cartesian grids is developed in this paper.Cartesian grids with geometric adaptation are firstly generated automatically with boundary cells processed by cell-cutting and cell-merging algorithms.The nonlinear full potential equation is discretized by a finite volume scheme on these Cartesian grids and iteratively solved in an implicit fashion with a generalized minimum residual(GMRES) algorithm.During computation,solution-based mesh adaptation is also applied so as to capture flow features more accurately.An improved ghost-cell method is proposed to implement the non-penetration wall boundary condition where the velocity-potential of a ghost cell is modified by an analytic method instead.According to the characteristics of the Cartesian grids,the Kutta condition is applied by specially computing the gradients on Kutta-faces without directly assigning the potential jump to cells adjacent wake faces,which can significantly improve the solution converging speed.The feasibility and accuracy of the proposed method are validated by several typical cases of sub/transonic flows around an ONERA M6 wing,a DLR-F4 wing-body,and an unconventional figuration of a blended wing body(BWB).The validation cases demonstrate a fast convergence with fully automatic grid treatment and computation,and the results suggest its capacity in application for aircraft conceptual design.Fanxi LYU Tianhang XIAO Xiongqing YU 2017Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2017,30,3:4

8Photon momentum transfer in inhomogeneous dielectric mixtures and induced tractor beams显示文摘The determination of optical force as a consequence of momentum transfer is inevitably subject to the use of the proper momentum density and stress tensor.It is imperative and valuable to consider the intrinsic scheme of photon momentum transfer,particularly when a particle is embedded in a complex dielectric environment.Typically,we consider a particle submerged in an inhomogeneous background composed of different dielectric materials,excluding coherent illumination or hydrodynamic effects.A ray-tracing method is adopted to capture the direct process of momentum transfer from the complex background medium,and this approach is validated using the modified Einstein–Laub method,which uses only the interior fields of the particle in the calculation.In this way,debates regarding the calculation of the force with different stress tensors using exterior fields can be avoided.Our suggested interpretation supports only the Minkowski approach for the optical momentum transfer to the embedded scatterer while rejecting Peierls’s and Abraham’s approaches,though the momentum of a stably moving photon in a continuous background medium should be considered to be of the Abraham type.Our interpretation also provides a novel method of realizing a tractor beam for the exertion of negative force that offers an alternative to the use of negative-index materials,optical gain,or highly non-paraxial or multiple-light interference.Cheng-Wei Qiu Weiqiang Ding MRCMahdy Dongliang Gao Tianhang Zhang Fook Chiong Cheong Aristide Dogariu Zheng Wang Chwee Teck Lim 2015Light(Science & Applications)2015,4,1:3
9Aerodynamic performance enhancement of co-flow jet airfoil with simple high-lift device显示文摘The present study performed a numerical investigation to explore the performance enhancement of a co-flow jet(CFJ)airfoil with simple high-lift device configuration,with a specific goal to examine the feasibility and capability of the proposed configuration for low-speed take-off and landing.Computations have been accomplished by an in-house-programmed Reynoldsaveraged Navier-Stokes solver enclosed by k-ωshear stress transport turbulence model.Three crucial geometric parameters,viz.,injection slot location,suction slot location and its angle were selected for the sake of revealing their effects on aerodynamic lift,drag,power consumption and equivalent lift-to-drag ratio.Results show that using simple high-lift devices on CFJ airfoil can significantly augment the aerodynamic associated lift and efficiency which evidences the feasibility of CFJ for short take-off and landing with small angle of attack.The injection and suction slot locations are more influential with respect to the aerodynamic performance of CFJ airfoil compared with the suction slot angle.The injection location is preferable to be located in the downstream of the pressure suction peak on leading edge to reduce the power expenditure of the pumping system for a relative higher equivalent lift-to-drag ratio.Another concluded criterion is that the suction slot should be oriented on the trailing edge flap for achieving more aerodynamic gain,meanwhile,carefully selecting this location is crucial in determining the aerodynamic enhancement of CFJ airfoil with deflected flaps.Haolin ZHI Zhenhao ZHU Yujin LU Shuanghou DENG Tianhang XIAO 2021Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2021,34,9:3
10Chirality-assisted lateral momentum transfer for bidirectional enantioselective separation显示文摘Lateral optical forces induced by linearly polarized laser beams have been predicted to deflect dipolar particles with opposite chiralities toward opposite transversal directions.These“chirality-dependent”forces can offer new possibilities for passive all-optical enantioselective sorting of chiral particles,which is essential to the nanoscience and drug industries.However,previous chiral sorting experiments focused on large particles with diameters in the geometrical-optics regime.Here,we demonstrate,for the first time,the robust sorting of Mie(size~wavelength)chiral particles with different handedness at an air–water interface using optical lateral forces induced by a single linearly polarized laser beam.The nontrivial physical interactions underlying these chirality-dependent forces distinctly differ from those predicted for dipolar or geometrical-optics particles.The lateral forces emerge from a complex interplay between the light polarization,lateral momentum enhancement,and out-of-plane light refraction at the particle-water interface.The sign of the lateral force could be reversed by changing the particle size,incident angle,and polarization of the obliquely incident light.Yuzhi Shi Tongtong Zhu Tianhang Zhang Alfredo Mazzulla Din Ping Tsai Weiqiang Ding Ai Qun Liu Gabriella Cipparrone Juan Jose Saenz Cheng-Wei Qiu 2020Light(Science & Applications)2020,9,1:3
11Below-Cloud Aerosol Scavenging by Different-Intensity Rains in Beijing City显示文摘Below-cloud aerosol scavenging process by precipitation is important for cleaning the polluted aerosols in the atmosphere, and is also a main process for acid rain formation. However, the related physical mechanism has not been well documented and clarified yet. In this paper, we investigated the below-cloud PM_(2.5)(particulate matter with aerodynamic diameter being 2.5 μm or less) scavenging by different-intensity rains under polluted conditions characterized by high PM_(2.5) concentrations, based on in-situ measurements from March 2014 to July 2016 in Beijing city. It was found that relatively more intense rainfall events were more efficient in removing the polluted aerosols in the atmosphere. The mean PM_(2.5) scavenging ratio and its standard deviation(SD) were 5.1% ± 25.7%, 38.5% ± 29.0%,and 50.6% ± 21.2% for light, moderate, and heavy rain events, respectively. We further found that the key impact factors on below-cloud PM_(2.5) scavenging ratio for light rain events were rain duration and wind speed rather than raindrop size distribution. However, the impacts of rain duration and wind speed on scavenging ratio were not important for moderate and heavy rain events. 12Advances in Utilization of Agricultural Waste Based on Production of Edible Fungi显示文摘Along with the rapid development of edible fungus industry in China,the traditional mode of production giving priority to wood chips will be severely limited,and using agricultural waste distributed widely,having large yield,and containing high content of organic matter to produce edible fungi has good economic and ecological benefit. In this paper,based on the analysis of characteristics of agricultural waste in China,the present situation of application of agricultural waste in the production of edible fungi at home and abroad was introduced,and the main problems existing in production of edible fungi by using agricultural waste in China at the present stage were pointed out. 16ATP1B3 Restricts Hepatitis B Virus Replication Via Reducing the Expression of the Envelope Proteins显示文摘Our recent study reported that ATP1B3 inhibits hepatitis B virus(HBV)replication via inducing NF-κB activation.However,ATP1B3 mutants which were defective in NF-κB activation still maintained the moderate degree of suppression on HBV replication,suggesting that another uncharacterized mechanism is also responsible for ATP1B3-mediated HBV suppression.Here,we demonstrated that ATP1B3 reduced the expression of HBV envelope proteins LHBs,MHBs and SHBs,but had no effect on intracellular HBV DNA,RNA levels as well as HBV promoter activities.Further investigation showed that proteasome inhibitor MG132 rescued ATP1B3-mediated envelope proteins degradation,demonstrating that proteasome-dependent pathway is involved in ATP1B3-induced degradation of envelope proteins.Co-IP showed that ATP1B3 interacts with LHBs and MHBs and induces LHBs and MHBs polyubiquitination.Immunofluorescence colocalization analysis confirmed LHBs and MHBs colocalized with ATP1B3 together.Our work provides important information for targeting ATP1B3 as a potential therapeutic molecule for HBV infection.Jun Zhang Tianhang Zheng Xiaolei Zhou Hong Wang Zhaolong Li Chen Huan Baisong Zheng Wenyan Zhang 2021Virologica Sinica2021,36,4:1
