| 1 | Sensitivity of surface air temperature change to land use/cover types in China显示文摘Using CRU high resolution grid observational temperature and ERA40 reanalysis surface air temperature data during 1960-1999, we investigated the sensitivity of surface air temperature change to land use/cover types in China by subtracting the reanalysis from the observed surface air temperature (observation minus reanalysis, OMR). The results show that there is a stable and systemic impact of land use/cover types on surface air temperature. The surface warming of each land use/cover type reacted differently to global warming. The OMR trends of unused land (≥0.17℃/decade), mainly comprised by sandy land, Gobi and bare rock gravel land, are obviously larger than those of the other land use/cover types. The OMR over grassland, farmland and construction land shows a moderate decadal warming about 0.12℃ /decade, 0.10℃/decade, 0.12 ℃ /decade, respectively. Woodland areas do not show a significant warming trend (0.06 ℃ /decade). The overall assessment indicates that the surface warming is larger for areas that are barren and anthropogenically developed. The better the vegetation cover, the smaller the OMR warming trend. Responses of surface air temperature to land use/cover types with similar physical and chemical properties and biological processes have no significant difference. The surface air temperature would not react significantly until the intensity of land cover changes reach a certain degree. Within the same land use/cover type, areas in eastern China with intensive human activities exhibit larger warming trend. The results provide observational evidence for modeling research on the impact of land use/cover change on regional climate. | 3 | Evapotranspiration and its main controlling mechanism over the desert riparian forests in the lower Tarim River Basin显示文摘Evapotranspiration(ET) and its controlling mechanism over the desert riparian forests in arid regions are the important scientific basis for the water resources managements of the lower reaches of the inland rivers of China. Nearly three years of continuous measurements of surface ET, soil water content at different depths and groundwater table over a typical Tamarix spp. stand and a typical Populus euphratica stand were conducted in the lower reach of the Tarim River. The ET seasonal trends in the growing season were controlled by plant phenology, and ET in non-growing season was weak. The diurnal variations of ET resulting from the comprehensive effects of all atmospheric factors were significantly related with reference ET. The spatial pattern of ET was determined by vegetation LAI, more vegetation coverage, more ET amount. Groundwater is the water source of surface ET, and the soil water in shallow layers hardly took part in the water exchange in the groundwatersoil-plant-air system. The temporal processes of ET over the Tamarix stand and the Populus stand were similar, but the water consumption of the well-grown Populus euphratica was higher than that of the well-grown Tamarix spp. Further analysis indicates that plant transpiration accounts for most of the surface ET, with soil evaporation weak and negligible; groundwater table is a crucial factor influencing ET over the desert riparian forests, groundwater influences the processes and amounts of ET by controlling the growth and spatial distribution of desert riparian forests; quantifying the water stress of desert riparian forests using groundwater table is more appropriate, rather than soil water content. | 4 | Application of next-generation sequencing technology to precision medicine in cancer: joint consensus of the Tumor Biomarker Committee of the Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology显示文摘Next-generation sequencing(NGS) technology is capable of sequencing millions or billions of DNA molecules simultaneously.Therefore, it represents a promising tool for the analysis of molecular targets for the initial diagnosis of disease, monitoring of disease progression, and identifying the mechanism of drug resistance. On behalf of the Tumor Biomarker Committee of the Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology(CSCO) and the China Actionable Genome Consortium(CAGC), the present expert group hereby proposes advisory guidelines on clinical applications of NGS technology for the analysis of cancer driver genes for precision cancer therapy. This group comprises an assembly of laboratory cancer geneticists, clinical oncologists, bioinformaticians,pathologists, and other professionals. After multiple rounds of discussions and revisions, the expert group has reached a preliminary consensus on the need of NGS in clinical diagnosis, its regulation, and compliance standards in clinical sample collection. | 5 | Predicting Cadmium Safety Thresholds in Soils Based on Cadmium Uptake by Chinese Cabbage显示文摘Cadmium(Cd), a common toxic heavy metal in soil, has relatively high bioavailability, which seriously threatens agricultural products. In this study, 8 different soils with contrasting soil properties were collected from different regions in China to investigate the Cd transfer coefficient from soil to Chinese cabbage(Brassica chinensis L.) and the threshold levels of Cd in soils for production of Chinese cabbage according to the food safety standard for Cd. Exogenous Cd(0–4 mg kg^(-1)) was added to the soils and equilibrated for 2 weeks before Chinese cabbage was grown under greenhouse conditions. The influence of soil properties on the relationship between soil and cabbage Cd concentrations was investigated. The results showed that Cd concentration in the edible part of Chinese cabbage increased linearly with soil Cd concentration in 5 soils, but showed a curvilinear pattern with a plateau at the highest dose of exogenous Cd in the other 3 soils. The Cd transfer coefficient from soil to plant varied significantly among the different soils and decreased with increasing soil p H from 4.7 to 7.5. However, further increase in soil pH to > 8.0 resulted in a significant decrease in the Cd transfer coefficient. According to the measured Cd transfer coefficient and by reference to the National Food Safety Standards of China, the safety threshold of Cd concentration in soil was predicted to be between 0.12 and 1.7 mg kg^(-1) for the tested soils. The predicted threshold values were higher than the current soil quality standard for Cd in 5 soils, but lower than the standard in the other 3 soils. | 6 | Climate change in Mt. Qomolangma region since 1971显示文摘Using monthly average, maximum, minimum air temperature and monthly precipitation data from 5 weather stations in Mt. Qomolangma region in China from 1971 to 2004, climatic linear trend, moving average, low-pass filter and accumulated variance analysis methods, the spatial and temporal patterns of the climatic change in this region were analyzed. The main findings can be summarized as follows: (1) There is obvious ascending tendency for the interannual change of air temperature in Mt. Qomolangma region and the ascending tendency of Tingri, the highest station, is the most significant. The rate of increasing air temperature is 0.234 oC/decade in Mt. Qomolangma region, 0.302 oC/decade in Tingri. The air temperature increases more strongly in non-growing season. (2) Compared with China and the global average, the warming of Mt. Qomolangma region occurred early. The linear rates of temperature increase in Mt. Qomolangma region exceed those for China and the global average in the same period. This is attributed to the sensitivity of mountainous regions to climate change. (3) The southern and northern parts of Mt. Qomolangma region are quite different in precipitation changes. Stations in the northern part show increasing trends but are not statistically significant. Nyalam in the southern part shows a decreasing trend and the sudden decreasing of precipitation occurred in the early 1990s. (4) Compared with the previous studies, we find that the warming of Mt. Qomolangma high-elevation region is most significant in China in the same period. The highest automatic meteorological comprehensive observation station in the world set up at the base camp of Mt. | 7 | Vegetation change in the Mt. Qomolangma Nature Reserve from 1981 to 2001显示文摘Based on the NOAA AVHRR-NDVI data from 1981 to 2001, the digitalized China Vegetation Map (1:1,000,000), DEM, temperature and precipitation data, and field investiga- tion, the spatial patterns and vertical characteristics of natural vegetation changes and their influencing factors in the Mt. Qomolangma Nature Reserve have been studied. The results show that: (1) There is remarkable spatial difference of natural vegetation changes in the Mt. Qomolangma Nature Reserve and stability is the most common status. There are 5.04% of the whole area being seriously degraded, 13.19% slightly degraded, 26.39% slightly im- proved, 0.97% significantly improved and 54.41% keeping stable. The seriously and slightly degraded areas, which mostly lie in the south of the reserve, are along the national bounda- ries. The areas of improved vegetation lie in the north of the reserve and the south side of the Yarlung Zangbo River. The stable areas lie between the improved and degraded areas. Degradation decreases with elevation. (2) Degeneration in the Mt. Qomolangma Nature Re- serve mostly affects shrubs, needle-leaved forests and mixed forests. (3) The temperature change affects the natural vegetation changes spatially while the integration of temperature changes, slopes and aspects affects the natural vegetation change along the altitude gradi- ents. (4) It is the overuse of resources that leads to the vegetation degeneration in some parts of the Mt. | 13 | Pinpointing and scheduling access conflicts to improve internal resource utilization in solid-state drives显示文摘Modern solid-state drives (SSDs)are integrating more internal resources to achieve higher capacity.Parallelizing accesses across internal resources can potentially enhance the performance of SSDs.However,exploiting parallelism inside SSDs is challenging owing to real-time access conflicts.In this paper,we propose a highly parallelizable I/O scheduler (PIOS)to improve internal resource utilization in SSDs from the perspective of I/O scheduling.Specifically, we first pinpoint the conflicting flash requests with precision during the address translation in the Flash Translation Layer (FTL).Then,we introduce conflict eliminated requests (CERs)to reorganize the I/O requests in the device-level queue by dispatching conflicting flash requests to different CERs.Owing to the significant performance discrepancy between flash read and write operations,PIOS employs differentiated scheduling schemes for read and write CER queues to always allocate internal resources to the conflicting CERs that are more valuable.The small dominant size prioritized scheduling policy for the write queue significantly decreases the average write latency.The high parallelism density prioritized scheduling policy for the read queue better utilizes resources by exploiting internal parallelism aggressively.Our evaluation results show that the paralle/izable I/O scheduler (PIOS)can accomplish better SSD performance than existing I/O schedulers implemented in both SSD devices and operating systems. | Xuchao XIE Liquan XIAO Dengping WEI Qiong LI Zhenlong SONG Xiongzi GE | 2019 | Frontiers of Computer Science2019,13,1: | 2 |

| 15 | Deformation Model Inferred from Focal Mechanisms in the Chinese Mainland and Its Adjacent Areas显示文摘We collect seismic moment tensors of the earthquakes occurring from 1900 to 2013 in and around the Chinese mainland and summarize the surface ruptures and displacements of 70 earthquakes with M S≥7. 0. We divide these large earthquakes into three types. Type A contains earthquakes with surface ruptures and displacements. Type B is earthquakes without displacements and Type C is those without any of this data. We simulate a triangular distribution of displacements for Type B and C. Then,we segment these large earthquakes by using their displacements and surface ruptures. Finally,kinematic models are determined from earthquake data and Bicubic Bessel spline functions. The results show that,first of all,the reasonability and spatial consistency of defined models are advanced.Strain rates have better continuity and are comparable with geologic and geodetic results in Himalaya thrust fault zones. The strain rates decrease in the Tarim basin and the Altun Tagh fault zones because of their low seismicity. The direction of compressional deformation in Gobi-Altay is changed from SE to NE and its extensional direction is changed from NE to NW. The extensional deformation in the Ordos block is diminished obviously. | 16 | Effect of sulfate-reducing bacteria on hydrogen permeation and stress corrosion cracking behavior of 980 high-strength steel in seawater显示文摘980 high-strength steel has been widely used in marine engineering structures due to its high strength and toughness.However,it is easily affected by the harsh environmental conditions(such as the presence of sulfate-reducing bacteria,SRB),leading to the risk of stress corrosion cracking(SCC).In this paper,the effects of SRB and its metabolites on hydrogen permeation and SCC mechanism of 980 steel in seawater solution were investigated by slow strain rate tensile test,scanning electron microscope,Xray energy spectroscopy,Raman spectroscopy and Devanathan-Stachurski double electrolytic cell.Results demonstrated that the SCC susceptibility of 980 steel was promoted in the presence of SRB,which was related to the cultivation time of the bacteria.When SRB were cultivated for 3 d and 6 d,the SCC mechanism was controlled by hydrogen-induced cracking(HIC);while the cultivation time extended to 11 d,the SCC of 980 steel was under the combined effect of the anodic dissolution(AD) and HIC mechanism.When cultivated for 16 d,the SCC of 980 steel was caused by the dominant AD.Both the SRB accelerated hydrogen permeation under cathodic depolarization process and SRB assisted AD(pitting corrosion)played an enhancing role in promoting SCC susceptibility of 980 steel. | Meiying Lv Xuchao Chen Zhenxin Li Min Du | 2021 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,33: | 1 |

| 20 | Collapse of a Deep Excavated Foundation Pit in the Soft Soils by 3-D FEM显示文摘In view of the collapse of a deep excavated foundation pit of the Xianghu subway underground station in Hangzhou of China,the main features of the accident are analyzed,and the induced factors of the accident are summarized. Then,a 3-D FEM analysis model is created to demonstrate the soil-support structures interaction system,and the effect of the main factors,such as the volume replacement ratio of the bottom soil reinforcing,the asymmetric ground overload,the embedded depth of the diaphragm wall,the shear strength of the bottom soils disturbed by the construction,and the excessive excavation of the bottom soil,are analyzed and compared. The results show that the ineffective original reinforcement plan for the bottom soft soil is the most prominent factor for the accident,and the disturbance effect of the deep excavation on the shear strength of the bottom soft soil is another significant factor for the accident. Meanwhile,if the reinforcement of the bottom soft soil is canceled,an appropriate extension of the diaphragm retaining walls to the under lying harder soil layer can also effectively prevent the collapse of the deep excavated foundation pit. In addition,the partly excessive excavation in the process has a great influence on the axial force of the most nearby horizontal support but few effect on the stability of the diaphragm wall. Thus,the excessive excavation of the bottom soils should not be the direct inducing factor for the accident. To the asymmetric ground overload,it should be the main factor inducing the different damage conditions of the diaphragm walls on different sides.
