| 1 | Materials discovery and design using machine learning显示文摘The screening of novel materials with good performance and the modelling of quantitative structureactivity relationships(QSARs),among other issues,are hot topics in the field of materials science.Traditional experiments and computational modelling often consume tremendous time and resources and are limited by their experimental conditions and theoretical foundations.Thus,it is imperative to develop a new method of accelerating the discovery and design process for novel materials.Recently,materials discovery and design using machine learning have been receiving increasing attention and have achieved great improvements in both time efficiency and prediction accuracy.In this review,we first outline the typical mode of and basic procedures for applying machine learning in materials science,and we classify and compare the main algorithms.Then,the current research status is reviewed with regard to applications of machine learning in material property prediction,in new materials discovery and for other purposes.Finally,we discuss problems related to machine learning in materials science,propose possible solutions,and forecast potential directions of future research.By directly combining computational studies with experiments,we hope to provide insight into the parameters that affect the properties of materials,thereby enabling more efficient and target-oriented research on materials discovery and design. | Yue Liu Tianlu Zhao Wangwei Ju Siqi Shi | 2017 | Journal of Materiomics2017,3,3: | 61 |

| 3 | Predicting the onset temperature(Tg) of GexSe1-x glass transition: a feature selection based two-stage support vector regression method显示文摘Despite the usage of both experimental and topological methods, realizing a rapid and accurate measurement of the onset temperature(Tg ) of GexSe1-xglass transition remains an open challenge. In this paper, a predictive model for the Tg in GexSe1-xglass system is presented by a machine learning method named feature selection based two-stage support vector regression(FSTS-SVR). Firstly, Pearson correlation coefficient(PCC) is used to select features highly correlated with Tg from the candidate features of GexSe1-x glass system. Secondly, in order to simulate the two-stage characteristic of Tg which is caused by structural variation with a turning point at x = 0.33 via the structural analysis, SVR is utilized to build predictive models for two stages separately and then the two achieved models are synthesized using a minimum error based model for Tg prediction. Compared with the topological and other methods based on SVR, the FSTS-SVR gives the highest predictive accuracy with the root mean square error(RMSE) and mean absolute percentage error(MAPE) of 10.64 K and 2.38%, respectively. | 4 | Mechanical and dielectric properties of porous and wave-transparent Si3N4–Si3N4 composite ceramics fabricated by 3D printing combined with chemical vapor infiltration显示文摘Porous Si3N4–Si3N4 composite ceramics were fabricated by 3D printing combined with low-pressure chemical vapor infiltration(CVI).This technique could effectively improve the designability of porous Si3N4 ceramics and optimize the mechanical and dielectric properties.The effects of process parameters including the deposition time and heat treatment on the microstructure and properties of porous Si3N4–Si3N4 composite ceramics were studied.The study highlights following:When CVI processing time was increased from 0 to 12 h,the porosity decreased from68.65%to 26.07%and the density increased from 0.99 to 2.02 g/cm3.At the same time,the dielectric constant gradually increased from 1.72 to 3.60;however,the dielectric loss always remained less than0.01,indicating the excellent electromagnetic(EM)wave-transparent performance of porous Si3N4–Si3N4 composite ceramics.The maximum flexural strength of 47±2 MPa was achieved when the deposition time attained 6 h.After heat treatment,the porosity increased from 26.07%to 36.02%and the dielectric constant got a slight increase from 3.60 to 3.70 with the dielectric loss still maintaining lower than 0.01.It has been demonstrated that the porous Si3N4–Si3N4 composite ceramics are a promising structural and EM wave-transparent material suitable for high temperature service. | Zanlin CHENG Fang YE Yongsheng LIU Tianlu QIAO Jianping LI Hailong QIN Laifei CHENG Litong ZHANG | 2019 | Journal of Advanced Ceramics2019,8,3: | 10 |
| 5 | Spatial prediction of landslide susceptibility using GIS-based statistical and machine learning models in Wanzhou County,Three Gorges Reservoir, China显示文摘Landslide susceptibility mapping is vital for landslide risk management and urban planning.In this study,we used three statistical models[frequency ratio,certainty factor and index of entropy(IOE)]and a machine learning model[random forest(RF)]for landslide susceptibility mapping in Wanzhou County,China.First,a landslide inventory map was prepared using earlier geotechnical investigation reports,aerial images,and field surveys.Then,the redundant factors were excluded from the initial fourteen landslide causal factors via factor correlation analysis.To determine the most effective causal factors,landslide susceptibility evaluations were performed based on four cases with different combinations of factors('cases').In the analysis,465(70%)landslide locations were randomly selected for model training,and 200(30%)landslide locations were selected for verification.The results showed that case 3 produced the best performance for the statistical models and that case 2 produced the best performance for the RF model.Finally,the receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve was used to verify the accuracy of each model's results for its respective optimal case.The ROC curve analysis showed that the machine learning model performed better than the other three models,and among the three statistical models,the IOE model with weight coefficients was superior. | Ting Xiao Kunlong Yin Tianlu Yao Shuhao Liu | 2019 | Acta Geochimica2019,38,5: | 8 |
| 6 | Reactive mesoporous silica nanoparticles loaded with limonene for improving physical and mental health of mice at simulated microgravity condition显示文摘Astronauts are under high stress for a long time because of the microgravity condition,which leads to anxiety,affects their learning and memory abilities,and seriously impairs the health of astronauts.Aromatherapy can improve the physical and mental health of astronauts in a way that moisturizes them softly and silently.However,the strong volatility of fragrances and inconvenience of aroma treatment greatly limit their application in the field of spaceflight.In this study,reactive mesoporous silica nanoparticles were prepared to encapsulate and slowly release limonene.The limonene loaded nanoparticles were named limonene@mesoporous silica nanoparticles-cyanuric chloride(LE@MSNs-CYC).LE@MSNs-CYC were then applied to wallpaper to improve the convenience of aromatherapy.LE@MSNs-CYC could chemically react with the wallpaper,thus firmly adsorbed on the wallpaper.In the following,the mice were treated with hindlimb unloading(HU)to simulate a microgravity environment.The results showed that 28-day HU led to an increase in the level of anxiety and declines in learning,memory,and physical health in mice.LE@MSNs-CYC showed significant relief effects on anxiety,learning,memory,and physical health of HU treated mice.Subsequently,the molecular mechanisms were explored by hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis related hormones,immune-related cytokines,learning,and memory-related neurotransmitters and proteins. | Zhiguo Lu Jianze Wang Lina Qu Guanghan Kan Tianlu Zhang Jie Shen Yan Li Jun Yang Yunwei Niu Zuobing Xiao Yinghui Li Xin Zhang | 2020 | Bioactive Materials2020,5,4: | 5 |

| 10 | Synthesis and characterization of novel biocompatible nanocapsules encapsulated lily fragrance显示文摘Fragranced products are wildly used in our daily life. However, their storage, application and quality are severely influenced by their strong volatility. In order to overcome these natural defects of fragrances,fragrance encapsulation approaches have been developed recently. In this study, a mild, simple and lowcost method of fragrance encapsulation was invented. Liposomes composed of soya lecithin/DSPEPEG2000/PLGA were prepared to encapsulate lily fragrance(LF). And these nanosized fragrance products was named LF-NPs. The hydrodynamic diameters of LF-NPs were approximately 100 nm and their encapsulation efficiency was up to 21.9%. Besides, LF-NPs could also prolong the release time of lily fragrance. Finally, the cytotoxicity tests indicated that LF-NPs offered biocompatibility.
