1Behaviors and kinetics of toluene adsorption-desorption on activated carbons with varying pore structure显示文摘This work was undertaken to investigate the behaviors and kinetics of toluene adsorption and desorption on activated carbons with varying pore structure. Five kinds of activated carbon from different raw materials were selected. Adsorption isotherms and breakthrough curves for toluene were measured. Langmuir and Freundlich equations were fitted to the equilibrium data, and the Freundlich equation was more suitable for simulating toluene adsorption. The process consisted of monolayer, multilayer and partial active site adsorption types. The effect of the pore structure of the activated carbons on toluene adsorption capacity was investigated. The quasi-first-order model was more suitable for describing the process than the quasi-second-order model. The adsorption data was also modeled by the internal particle diffusion model and it was found that the adsorption process could be divided into three stages. In the external surface adsorption process, the rate depended on the specific surface area. During the particle diffusion stage, pore structure and volume were the main factors affecting adsorption rate. In the final equilibrium stage, the rate was determined by the ratio of meso-and macro-pores to total pore volume. The rate over the whole adsorption process was dominated by the toluene concentration. The desorption behavior of toluene on activated carbons was investigated,and the process was divided into heat and mass transfer parts corresponding to emission and diffusion mechanisms, respectively. 2Viral vectored vaccines:design,development,preventive and therapeutic applications in human diseases显示文摘Human diseases,particularly infectious diseases and cancers,pose unprecedented challenges to public health security and the global economy.The development and distribution of novel prophylactic and therapeutic vaccines are the prioritized countermeasures of human disease.Among all vaccine platforms,viral vector vaccines offer distinguished advantages and represent prominent choices for pathogens that have hampered control efforts based on conventional vaccine approaches.Currently,viral vector vaccines remain one of the best strategies for induction of robust humoral and cellular immunity against human diseases.Numerous viruses of different families and origins,including vesicular stomatitis virus,rabies virus,parainfluenza virus,measles virus,Newcastle disease virus,influenza virus,adenovirus and poxvirus,are deemed to be prominent viral vectors that differ in structural characteristics,design strategy,antigen presentation capability,immunogenicity and protective efficacy.This review summarized the overall profile of the design strategies,progress in advance and steps taken to address barriers to the deployment of these viral vector vaccines,simultaneously highlighting their potential for mucosal delivery,therapeutic application in cancer as well as other key aspects concerning the rational application of these viral vector vaccines.Appropriate and accurate technological advances in viral vector vaccines would consolidate their position as a leading approach to accelerate breakthroughs in novel vaccines and facilitate a rapid response to public health emergencies.Shen Wang Bo Liang Weiqi Wang Ling Li Na Feng Yongkun Zhao Tiecheng Wang Feihu Yan Songtao Yang Xianzhu Xia 2023Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2023,8,5:1

5Taurolidine improved protection against highly pathogenetic avian influenza H5N1 virus lethal-infection in mouse model by regulating the NF-κB signaling pathway显示文摘Taurolidine(TRD),a derivative of taurine,has anti-bacterial and anti-tumor effects by chemically reacting with cell-walls,endotoxins and exotoxins to inhibit the adhesion of microorganisms.However,its application in antiviral therapy is seldom reported.Here,we reported that TRD significantly inhibited the replication of influenza virus H5N1 in MDCK cells with the half-maximal inhibitory concentration(EC_(50))of 34.45μg/mL.Furthermore,the drug inhibited the amplification of the cytokine storm effect and improved the survival rate of mice lethal challenged with H5N1(protection rate was 86%).Moreover,TRD attenuated virus-induced lung damage and reduced virus titers in mice lungs.Administration of TRD reduced the number of neutrophils and increased the number of lymphocytes in the blood of H5N1 virus-infected mice.Importantly,the drug regulated the NF-κB signaling pathway by inhibiting the separation of NF-κB and IκBa,thereby reducing the expression of inflammatory factors.In conclusion,our findings suggested that TRD could act as a potential anti-influenza drug candidate in further clinical studies.Chaoxiang Lv Yuanguo Li Tiecheng Wang Qiqi Zhang Jing Qi Mingwei Sima Entao Li Tian Qin Zhuangzhuang Shi Fangxu Li Xuefeng Wang Weiyang Sun Na Feng Songtao Yang Xianzhu Xia Ningyi Jin Yifa Zhou Yuwei Gao 2023Virologica Sinica2023,38,1:0

7Color Context Binary Pattern Using Progressive Bit Correction for Image Classification显示文摘Local binary pattern(LBP)is sensitive to noise.Noise-resistant LBP(NRLBP)addresses this problem by thresholding local neighboring pixels into three-valued states(i.e.,0,1 and uncertain bits)and recovering uncertain bits via an error-correction mechanism.In this paper,we extend NRLBP to deal with color images and propose a robust color image descriptor called Color context binary pattern(CCBP).In CCBP,we employ scale context and neighbor context to progressively correct the encoded bits.First,we encode intra-channel local neighboring pixels into three-valued states in scale space and use majority voting to correct all states across scales.Then,we compute inter-channel color feature distances and correct the uncertain bits via neighboring bit propagation.Finally,we construct the image descriptor by concatenating all histograms based on the corrected binary codes.Experiments on four benchmark databases demonstrate the robustness of CCBP for color image classification under very low signal-to-noise ratio levels.SONG Tiecheng FENG Jie LI Shuang ZHANG Tianqi 2021Chinese Journal of Electronics2021,30,3:0
8Leptin effects on the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis by activating proopiomelanocortin neurons Correlation between regulatory effects and duration显示文摘BACKGROUND:Leptin preserves reproductive functions by stimulating hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis activities at different levels.Some interneurons play an important role in leptin regulation of the gonadal axis.It remains uncertain whether leptin regulates reproductive functions by activating proopiomelanocortin (POMC) neurons.OBJECTIVE:To investigate leptin effects on secretory function of the neuroendocrine-gonadal axis by activating POMC neurons and to observe and verify the relationship between leptin effects and various time points.DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING:The randomized,controlled,animal study was performed at the Basic Institute of Chengde Medical University and the Research Room of Reproductive Immunology of National Research Institute for Family Planning from June to September 2008.MATERIALS:Leptin (Peprotech,USA),α-melanocyte stimulating hormone and rabbit anti-POMC polyclonal antibody (SC-20148) (Santa Cruz Biotechnology,USA),follicle stimulating hormone,luteinizing hormone,and gonadotropin releasing hormone enzyme-labeled immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kit (ADL,USA) were used in the present study.METHODS:A total of 60 healthy,female,adult,Wistar rats received 17 β-estradiol for 5 consecutive days at 15 days after ovariectomy.The rats were randomly assigned to physiological saline (n=35),leptin (n=35),and α-melanocyte stimulating hormone (n=20) groups.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:Changes in gonadotropin releasing hormone,luteinizing hormone,and follicle stimulating hormone were compared following intraventricular injection of physiological saline,leptin,and α-melanocyte stimulating hormone at various time points.Changes in POMC mRNA and protein expression in the hypothalamus were measured following physiological saline and leptin injection via the lateral ventricle.RESULTS:Compared to the physiological saline group,leptin and α-melanocyte stimulating hormone affected secretion in the hypothalamus-pituitary axis.Leptin affected secretion of gonadotropin releasing hormone,luteinizing hormone,and follicle stimulating hormone,whereas α-melanocyte stimulating hormone inhibited secretion of these hormones.Compared to the physiological saline group,POMC mRNA expression was significantly increased in the hypothalamus at 2 and 4 hours after leptin injection (P < 0.05),but expression recovered to physiological saline group levels at 6 hours after injection (P > 0.05).POMC protein expression was significantly increased in the hypothalamus at 4 and 6 hours after leptin injection (P < 0.05).CONCLUSION:Leptin affects secretory function of the neuroendocrine-gonadal axis through combined effects on POMC neurons and other pathways.Results suggested that the regulatory effects of POMC neurons were later compared to other neurons.Songhe Yang Luyang Cheng Xiuyan Ma Lianzhi Zhao Xiaotong Dong Peiming Feng Xiaoqiang Wang Tiecheng Sun Yuebing Qiao 2010Neural Regeneration Research2010,5,9:0
9Neutralization activity of influenza A virus humanized antibodies against new subtypes of influenza viruses显示文摘Antibodies are ideal for controlling the influenza A virus,but their effect on newly emerging strains is unclear.Here,we assessed the neutralization activity of the humanized monoclonal antibodies(mAbs)F10,H98 and H40 against circulating influenza viruses(H5N1,H1N1,H3N2 and H7N7 and new subtypes viruses H5N6 and H7N9).The results showed that all the three humanized mAbs(F10,H98 and H40)displayed different degrees of virus neutralization activities when encountered with different subtypes of influenza viruses.Remarkably,the humanized monoclonal antibody F10 produced higher and broader neutralization titers(range 25–1.56μg/ml)than those of the other two humanized mAbs(H98(range 50–3.12μg/ml),H40(range 50–5.56μg/ml))to against the viruses H5N1,H1N1,H3N2,H7N7,H5N6 and H7N9.This mAb may represent a new class of heterosubtypic neutralizing humanized mAb that could replace vaccines and chemical drugs.Jing Liu Tiecheng Wang Ying Xie Yuanguo Li Jian He Xinghai Zhang Weiyang Sun Na Feng Chuan Qin Yuwei Gao Xianzhu Xia 2019Biosafety and Health2019,1,3:0
