| 1 | Far lateral lumbar disc herniation part 1: Imaging, neurophysiology and clinical features显示文摘Far lateral lumbar disc herniations(FLLDH)represent a separate category of disc pathology which includes both intraforaminal and extraforaminal lumbar disc herniations,that are characterized by a peculiar clinical presentation,diagnostic and treatment modalities as compared to the more frequent median and paramedian disc hernias.Surgical treatment often represents the only effective weapon for the cure of this disease and over the years different approaches have been developed that can reach the region of the foramen or external to it,with different degrees of invasiveness.The diagnosis is more demanding and still underestimated as it requires a more detailed knowledge in the spine anatomy and dedicated radiological studies.Computerized tomography and in particular magnetic resonance imaging are the appropriate tools for the diagnosis of FLLDH.Despite the widespread use of these diagnostic tests,many cases of FLLDH are overlooked due to insufficiently detailed radiological examinations or due to the execution of exams not focused to the foraminal or the extraforaminal region.Neurophysiological studies represent a valid aid in the diagnostic classification of this pathology and in some cases they can facilitate the differential diagnosis with other types of radiculopathies.In the present study,a comprehensive review of the clinical presentation,epidemiology,radiological study and the neurophysiological aspects is presented. | Luigi Valentino Berra Andrea Di Rita Federico Longhitano Enrico Mailland Paolo Reganati Alessandro Frati Antonio Santoro | 2021 | World Journal of Orthopedics2021,12,12: | 14 |
| 2 | Orthopedic disorders of the knee in hemophilia:A current concept review显示文摘The knee is frequently affected by severe orthopedic changes known as hemophilic arthropathy(HA) in patients with deficiency of coagulation factor Ⅷ or Ⅸ and thus this manuscript seeks to present a current perspective of the role of the orthopedic surgeon in the management of these problems.Lifelong factor replacement therapy(FRT) is optimal to prevent HA,however adherence to this regerous treatment is challenging leading to breakthrough bleeding.In patients with chronic hemophilic synovitis,the prelude to HA,radiosynovectomy(RS) is the optimal to ameliorate bleeding.Surgery in people with hemophilia(PWH) is associated with a high risk of bleeding and infection,and must be performed with FRT.A coordinated effort including orthopedic surgeons,hematologists,physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians,physiotherapists and other team members is key to optimal outcomes.Ideally,orthopedic procedures should be performed in specialized hospitals with experienced teams.Until we are able to prevent orthopedic problems of the knee in PWH will have to continue performing orthopedic procedures(arthrocentesis,RS,arthroscopic synovectomy,hamstring release,arthroscopic debridement,alignment osteotomy,and total knee arthroplasty).By using the aforementioned procedures,the quality of life of PWH will be improved. | E Carlos Rodriguez-Merchan Leonard A Valentino | 2016 | World Journal of Orthopedics2016,7,6: | 9 |
| 3 | Evolution of Microstructure and Mechanical Property during Long-Term Aging in Udimet 720Li显示文摘Thermal stabilities of microstructure and mechanical property have been investigated on super- alloy U72OLi, which is of great interest of application for jet engine and land-based turbine disc. The results showed that, the primary and secondary γ’?particles maintain good thermal stability at 650 and 7000C with aging time up to 3000 h, while the tertiary γ’?is apparently dependent on aging temperature and time. The tertiary γ’?particles undergo a procedure of coarsening, dissolution and eventually complete disappearance with the increasing of aging time and temper- ature. They exhibit unusual high sensibility upon aging temperature, which is attributed to the lattice misfit between the γ’?precipitates and the matrix in the alloy. The grain boundary phase M23C6 remains stable without forming of sigma phase even with aging time up to 3000 h at 700℃. Microhardness decreases apparently with increasing aging time and aging temperature. | 5 | Seed-mediated synthesis of dendritic platinum nanostructures with high catalytic activity for aqueous-phase hydrogenation of acetophenone显示文摘This work reports a facile and efficient seed-mediated method for the synthesis of dendritic platinum(Pt)nanoparticles(NPs) at low temperatures of 55–60 °C in water, using L-ascorbic acid as a reducing agent and sodium citrate as a capping agent. It is found that the dendritic Pt NPs(10–150 nm) are composed of tiny Pt nanocrystals, which nucleate and grow through the introduced smaller Pt seeds with diameters of 3–5 nm.Further investigation shows that the dendritic Pt nanostructures display excellent catalytic performance in an aqueous-phase aromatic ketone hydrogenation reaction, including:(i) acetophenone conversion rate of> 90%, with smaller dendritic Pt NPs(10–46 nm) offering a higher conversion efficiency;(ii) high chemoselectivity toward carbonyl group(90.6%–91.5%), e.g., the selectivity to 1-phenylethanol is ~90.1% with nearly100% acetophenone conversion for 10 nm dendritic Pt NPs within 60 min, under mild reaction conditions(20 °C, 1.5 bar H2 pressure, and 1.5 mol% catalyst). | 7 | Ultrafast response of harmonic modelocked THz lasers显示文摘The use of fundamental modelocking to generate short terahertz(THz)pulses and THz frequency combs from semiconductor lasers has become a routine affair,using quantum cascade lasers(QCLs)as a gain medium.However,unlike classic laser diodes,no demonstrations of harmonic modelocking,active or passive,have been shown in THz QCLs,where multiple pulses per round trip are generated when the laser is modulated at the harmonics of the cavity’s fundamental round-trip frequency.Here,using time-resolved THz techniques,we show for the first time harmonic injection and mode-locking in which THz QCLs are modulated at the harmonics of the round-trip frequency.We demonstrate the generation of the harmonic electrical beatnote within a QCL,its injection locking to an active modulation and its direct translation to harmonic pulse generation using the unique ultrafast nature of our approach.Finally,we show indications of self-starting harmonic emission,i.e.,without external modulation,where the QCL operates exclusively on a harmonic(up to its 15th harmonic)of the round-trip frequency.This behaviour is supported by time-resolved simulations of induced gain and loss in the system and shows the importance of the electronic,as well as photonic,nature of QCLs.These results open up the prospect of passive harmonic modelocking and THz pulse generation,as well as the generation of low-noise microwave generation in the hundreds of GHz region. | Feihu Wang Valentino Pistore Michael Riesch Hanond Nong Pierre-Baptiste Vigneron Raffaele Colombelli Olivier Parillaud Juliette Mangeney Jerome Tignon Christian Jirauschek Sukhdeep S.Dhillon | 2020 | Light(Science & Applications)2020,9,1: | 3 |
