| 2 | Risk factors for endophthalmitis following cataract surgery-our experience at a tertiary eye care centre in India显示文摘AIM: To determine the risk factors for acute endophthalmitis after cataract extraction in a tertiary care centre in India.·METHODS: We performed a nested case control study within a retrospective cohort. The surgical records of all patients with clinically diagnosed endophthalmitis within one month after cataract surgery, performed between January 2006 and December 2009, were reviewed. These were compared with randomly selected age and gender-matched controls, from patients having routine cataract surgery within ±1wk of the endophthalmitis case.Univariable and multivariable analysis were performed to identify risk factors for endophthalmitis.· RESULTS: Of the total 33 856 cataract surgeries performed during this period, there were 57 cases of postoperative acute endophthalmitis that met our study criteria. Thus, the overall incidence of endophthalmitis in our cohort was 1.6 per 1000 cataract extractions performed. Mean age of cases was 55.9y(SD: 10.9y) and for controls was 55.6y(SD: 9.8y). Thirty-five cases(61.4%)and 133 controls(59.6%) were males. Median time of onset of endophthalmitis was 4d(IQR 2-9d; range: 1-30d).Thirty-nine cases(68.4%) presented within 7d and 27 cases(47.4%) were culture positive. Two hundred and twenty-three age and gender matched controls were selected. In multivariate analysis, endophthalmitis was associated with posterior capsular rupture(PCR) during surgery(OR 6.98, 95%CI: 2.22-21.98), phacoemulsification via scleral incision with a foldable intraocular lens(IOL)implantation(OR 3.02, 95%CI: 1.13-8.04) and ocular comorbidity(OR 2.32, 95%CI: 1.11-4.87).·CONCLUSION: PCR, presence of ocular co-morbidity,and phacoemulsification via scleral incision with foldable-IOL were found to be independent risk factors for acute endophthalmitis. | Rohit C.Khanna Vanita Pathak Ray Madhavi Latha Sandra D Cassard Annie Mathai Garudadri C Sekhar | 2015 | International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2015，8，6： | 2 |

| 12 | Understanding practice patterns of glaucoma sub-specialists in India显示文摘AIM:To obtain information on the prevailing practice patterns of glaucoma specialists in India.METHODS:Glaucoma specialists attending the Annual Conference of the Glaucoma Society of India(GSI) were surveyed.This survey,conducted in 2013,was based on an interactive audience response system.RESULTS:The information was obtained from 146 glaucoma specialists.Approximately half(n=83;57%) had ≥10 y of experience in managing glaucoma and were in institutional practice(n=74,51%).Goldmann applanation tonometry was preferred by 103(72%) specialists whilst n=25(17.4%) used non-contact tonometer.Indentation gonioscopy was favoured by two-thirds(n=90,66%) whereas stereoscopic optic disc examination and visual fields using Humphrey perimeter was performed by a majority of the specialists surveyed(n=115,86% and n=114;83% respectively).Nearly three quarter specialists(n=96;72%) preferred optical coherence tomography for imaging.The primary choice for treatment of angle closure disease and primary open angle glaucoma was laser(iridotomy,n=117;93%) and medical management(prostaglandin analogue,n=104;78%),respectively.Approximately only a third of the specialists surveyed(n=37;28%) were performing both trabeculectomy and implantation of a glaucoma drainage device and about half(n=64;47%) were not operating on congenital glaucoma at all.CONCLUSION:This survey has found conformance with preferred practice patterns in several areas of diagnosisand management of glaucoma,but there was diversity in a few areas.The information is a significant step towards improvement of glaucoma care in India,including planning for future strategies. | Nikhil S.Choudhari Vanita Pathak-Ray Sushmita Kaushik Prateep Vyas Ronnie George | 2017 | International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2017，10，10： | 1 |

| 17 | Trends in major and minor meteorological variables and their influence on reference evapotranspiration for mid Himalayan region at east Sikkim, India显示文摘Estimation of evapotranspiration(ET) for mountain ecosystem is of absolute importance since it serves as an important component in balancing the hydrologic cycle.The present study evaluates the performance of original and location specific calibrated Hargreaves equation(HARG) with the estimates of Food and Agricultural Organization(FAO)Penman Monteith(PM) method for higher altitudes in East Sikkim,India.The results show that the uncalibrated HARG model underestimates ET_0 by 0.35 mm day^(-1) whereas the results are significantly improved by regional calibration of the model.In addition,this paper also presents the variability in the trajectory associated with the climatic variables with the changing climate in the study site.Nonparametric Mann-Kendall(MK) test was used to investigate and understand the mean monthly trendof eight climatic parameters including reference evapotranspiration(ET_0) for the period of 1985-2009.Trend of ET_0 was estimated for the calculations done by FAO PM equation.The outcomes of the trend analysis show significant increasing(p ≤ 0.05) trend represented by higher Z-values,through MK test,for net radiation(Rn),maximum temperature(Tmax) and minimum temperature(Tmin),especially in the first months of the year.Whereas,significant(0.01 ≥ p ≤0.05) decreasing trend in vapor pressure deficit(VPD)and precipitation(P) is observed throughout the year.Declining trend in sunshine duration,VPD and ET_0 is found in spring(March- May) and monsoon(June –November) season.The result displays significant(0.01≤ p ≤ 0.05) decreasing ET_0 trend between(June- December) except in July,exhibiting the positive relation with VPD followed by sunshine duration at the station.Overall,the study emphasizes the importance of trend analysis of ET_0 and other climaticvariables for efficient planning and managing the agricultural practices,in identifying the changes in the meteorological parameters and to accurately assess the hydrologic water balance of the hilly regions. | Shweta YADAV Proloy DEB Sonu KUMAR Vanita PANDEY Pankaj Kumar PANDEY | 2016 | Journal of Mountain Science2016，13，2： | 1 |
