| 1 | High-contrast imaging for weakly diffracting specimens in coherent diffraction imaging显示文摘Coherent diffraction imaging (CDI) and ptychography techniques bypass the difficulty of having high-quality optics in X-ray microscopy by using a numerical reconstruction of the image that is obtained by inverting the diffracted intensity recorded by a charge-coupled device array. However, the reconstruction of the image from the intensity data obtained from a weakly diffracting specimen is known to be difficult because of the obvious reduction in signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). In this case, the specimen only slightly modifies the probe diffraction pattern, resulting in difficulty in the identification of the detailed structure of the specimen from the reconstructed image because of the poor contrast and sharpness of the image. To address this situation, a modification in the image retrieval algorithms used in the iterative reconstruction of the image is suggested. This modification should double the presence of high spatial frequencies in the diffraction pattern to enhance the contrast and edge detection in existing imaging techniques. | 潘兴臣 Suhas P. | 2 | High resolution multispectral spatial light modulators based on tunable Fabry-Perot nanocavities显示文摘Spatial light modulators(SLMs)are the most relevant technology for dynamic wavefront manipulation.They find diverse applications ranging from novel displays to optical and quantum communications.Among commercial SLMs for phase modulation,Liquid Crystal on Silicon(LCoS)offers the smallest pixel size and,thus,the most precise phase mapping and largest field of view(FOV).Further pixel miniaturization,however,is not possible in these devices due to inter-pixel cross-talks,which follow from the high driving voltages needed to modulate the thick liquid crystal(LC)cells that are necessary for full phase control.Newly introduced metasurface-based SLMs provide means for pixel miniaturization by modulating the phase via resonance tuning.These devices,however,are intrinsically monochromatic,limiting their use in applications requiring multi-wavelength operation.Here,we introduce a novel design allowing small pixel and multi-spectral operation.Based on LC-tunable Fabry-Perot nanocavities engineered to support multiple resonances across the visible range(including red,green and blue wavelengths),our design provides continuous 2π phase modulation with high reflectance at each of the operating wavelengths.Experimentally,we realize a device with 96 pixels(~1 μm pitch)that can be individually addressed by electrical biases.Using it,we first demonstrate multi-spectral programmable beam steering with FOV~18° and absolute efficiencies exceeding 40%.Then,we reprogram the device to achieve multi-spectral lensing with tunable focal distance and efficiencies~27%.Our design paves the way towards a new class of SLM for future applications in displays,optical computing and beyond. | Shampy Mansha Parikshit Moitra Xuewu Xu Tobias Wwmass Rasna Maruthiyodan Veetil Xinan Liang Shi-Qiang Li Ramon Paniagua-Dominguez Arseniy I.Kuznetsov | 2022 | Light(Science & Applications)2022,11,6: | 3 |

| 15 | Comparing accuracy of cochlear measurements on magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography:A step towards radiation-free cochlear implantation显示文摘Objective:Computed Tomography(CT)and Magnetic Resonance Imaging(MRI)are commonly employed in pre-operative evaluation for cochlear implant surgery.However,with a decrease in the age of implantation,even minor radiation exposure can cause detrimental effects on children over their lifetime.The current study compares different cochlear measurements from CT and MRI scans and evaluates the feasibility of using only an MRI scan for radiological evaluation before cochlear implantation.Methods:A longitudinal observational study was conducted on 94 ears/47 children,employing CT and MRI scans.The CT and MRI scan measurements include,A value,B value,Cochlear duct length(CDL),twoturn cochlear length,alpha and beta angles to look for cochlear orientation.Cochlear nerve diameter was measured using MRI.The values were compared.Results:The mean difference between measurements from CT and MRI scans for A value,B value,CDL,and two-turn cochlear length values was 0.567±0.413 mm,0.406±0.368 mm,2.365±1.675 mm,and 2.063±1.477 mm respectively without any significant difference.The alpha and beta angle measures were comparable,with no statistically significant difference.Conclusion:The study suggests that MRI scans can be the only radiological investigation needed with no radiation risk and reduces the cost of cochlear implant program in the paediatric population.There is no significant difference between the measurements obtained from CT and MRI scans.However,observed discrepancies in cochlear measurements across different populations require regionally or race-specific standardized values to ensure accurate diagnosis and precision in cochlear implant surgery.This aspect must be addressed to ensure positive outcomes for patients. | Anurita Swarup Vinusree Karakkandy Preetam Chappity Suprava Naik Sanjay Kumar Behera Pradipta Kumar Parida Mohnish Grover Gaurav Gupta Prajna Paramita Giri Saurav Sarkar Pradeep Pradhan Dillip Kumar Samal Aswathi Kallyadan Veetil Asutosh Adhikari Saurav Nayak | 2023 | Journal of Otology2023,18,4: | 0 |
