| 1 | Geochemical characteristics of pore water in shallow sediments from Shenhu area of South China Sea and their significance for gas hydrate occurrence显示文摘The Shenhu area is one of the promise target areas for marine gas hydrate exploration in the northern margin of the South China Sea.Pore water samples were collected from two piston cores (8.75 and 8.52 m) in site HS-A and site HS-B in the Shenhu area,and their major anion and cation contents and trace element contents have been analyzed in this study.Cl- concentrations in pore waters are similar to the seawater value and no systematic change along depth profiles has been found for the Cl- content in both sites.In site HS-A,the SO 2- 4 contents show a limited range in pore waters from 0 to 3 m depths,but a dramatic decrease is documented in depth below 3 m.Other elements such as Ca 2+,Mg 2+ and Sr 2+ show similar variation patterns as the SO 2- 4,i.e.,no variation in 0-3 m,but large decrease in depth below 3 m.In site HS-B,both the SO 4 and Ca 2+,Mg 2+ and Sr 2+ display a decrease pattern along the depth profile,but in 0-3 m the variation is less significant than those in depth below 3 m.In both sites HS-A and HS-B,I contents show a dramatic increase along depth profiles.Calculations show that the SMI depths are very shallow (10 and 11 m) in both sites,and the sulfate flux and I flux are very high.These geochemical characteristics and anomalies at Shenhu are quite similar to those found in other gas hydrate locations in the world,and a genetic link is suggested to be related to the gas hydrate occurrence at depths in the study area.In summary,we suggest that combined geochemical parameters in shallow sediment pore waters are useful indicators to indicate the gas hydrate occurrence at depths. | YANG Tao JIANG ShaoYong GE Lu YANG JingHong WU NengYou ZHANG GuangXue LIU Jian | 2010 | Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,8: | 30 |
| 2 | Geochemistry of pore waters from HQ-1PC of the Qiongdongnan Basin, northern South China Sea, and its implications for gas hydrate exploration显示文摘The Qiongdongnan Basin is one of the target areas for marine gas hydrate exploration in the northern margin of the South China Sea. In this study, major anion (e.g., SO42 , Cl, Br, I), cation (e.g., Ca, Mg, K, Na), and trace element (e.g., Sr, Ba) con- centrations of pore water samples collected from site HQ-1PC in the Qiongdongnan Basin were analyzed. These geochemical data suggest that the process of AOM (Anaerobic Oxidation of Methane) is dominant in sulfate-reduction zone in this site due to high upwelling iodine flux and strong microbial activities. The iodine-rich fluids, which may carry methane for the gas hydrate formation, pass through the gas hydrate stability zone, mix with brine released during gas hydrate formation, and cause the geochemical anomalies observed at site HQ-1PC. | 3 | Glycerol ether biomarkers and their carbon isotopic compositions in a cold seep carbonate chimney from the Shenhu area, northern South China Sea显示文摘At modern cold seeps,the anaerobic oxidation of methane(AOM)is the dominant pathway for methane consumption in marine sediments.AOM,which is mediated by a consortium of methane oxidizing archaea and sulfate reducing bacteria,is proposed to be responsible for authigenic carbonate formation.A methane-derived carbonate chimney was collected from the Shenhu area, northern South China Sea.The membrane lipids and their very low carbon isotopic compositions(?115‰to?104‰)in the Shenhu chimney suggest the presence of an AOM process.Three specific archaeal and bacterial biomarkers were detected,including Ar,DAGE 1f,and monocyclic MDGD.Their strongly depleted??13C values(?115‰to?104‰),which are lower than those of the normal marine lipids in sediments,reveal biogenic methane as their origin.The carbonate deposits exhibiting a chimney structure indicate that a vigorous methane-rich fluid expulsion may have occurred at the seafloor.We propose that the decomposition of gas hydrates at depth is the likely cause of seepage and cold seep carbonate formation in the Shenhu area. | GE Lu JIANG ShaoYong YANG Tao YANG JingHong WU NengYou ZHANG GuangXue LIU Jian | 2011 | Chinese Science Bulletin2011,56,16: | 12 |
| 4 | A reconnaissance of Cu isotopic compositions of hydrothermal vein-type copper deposit, Jinman, Yunnan, China显示文摘The Jinman deposit is a low-temperature hydrothermal vein-type copper deposit, which occurs along faults and fractures within Middle Jurassic sandstone and mudstone units of the Lanping-Simao Mesozoic-Cenozoic basin of Yunnan Province. In this note, we report for the first time the Cu isotopic compositions of Cu-sulfides from the Jinman deposit. The data show large variations and low δ65Cu values of -3.70‰ to +0.30‰, which are in sharp con-trast to the δ65Cu values of high-temperature mag-matic-hydrothermal copper deposits (-0.62‰ to +0.40‰) and the modern ocean-floor massive sulfide deposits (-0.48‰ to +1.15‰). | 5 | Rare Earth Element Geochemistry of Phosphatic Rocks in Neoproterozoic Ediacaran Doushantuo Formation in Hushan Section from the Yangtze Gorges Area, South China显示文摘Phosphatic rocks are widely distributed in Neoproterozoic Ediacaran Doushantuo Formation in Yangtze Gorges Area, South China. In this study, rare earth element geochemistry of eight phosphatic rock samples from the Hushan Section has been studied. All the samples display typical hat-shaped REE patterns, moderate negative Ce anomalies(Ce/Ce*=0.55 to 0.67), slightly positive Eu anomalies(Eu/Eu*=1.05 to 1.22) and low Y/Ho ratios(38.2±5.6). The hat-shaped REE patterns indicate diagenetic alteration of the primary REE signatures, which coincides with detrital siliciclastic sources of REE based on the Y/Ho ratios. The degree of Negative Ce anomalies and positive Eu anomalies may have recorded the redox features of diagenetic fluids, suggesting an anoxic environment during the phosphogenesis processes in Neoproterozoic Ediacaran Doushantuo Formation, South China. The geochemical comparison between the Lower Phosphorite Layer and Upper Phosphorite Layer at Hushan indicates a greater degree of diagenesis occurred in the Upper Layer than the Lower one. | 7 | Control concept and countermeasures for shallow lakes’eutrophication in China显示文摘Research on lake eutrophication in China began in the early 1970s,and many lakes in China are now known to be in meso-eutrophic status.Lake eutrophication has been showing a rapidly increasing trend since 2000.Investigations show that the main reasons for lake eutrophication include a fragile lake background environment,excessive nutrient loading into lakes,excessive human activities,ecological degeneration,weak environmental protection awareness,and lax lake management.Major mechanisms resulting from lake eutrophication include nutrient recycling imbalance,major changes in water chemistry(pH,oxygen,and carbon),lake ecosystem imbalance,and algal prevalence in lakes.Some concepts for controlling eutrophication should be persistently proposed,including lake catchment control,combination of pollutant source control with ecological restoration,protection of three important aspects(terrestrial ecology,lake coast zone,and submerged plant),and combination of lake management with regulation.Measures to control lake eutrophication should include pollution source control(i.e.,optimize industrial structural adjustments in the lake catchment,reduce nitrogen and phosphorus emission amounts,and control endogenous pollution)and lake ecological restoration(i.e.establish a zone-lake buffer region and lakeside zone,protect regional vegetation,utilize hydrophytes in renovation technology);countermeasures for lake management should include implementing water quality management,identifying environmental and lake water goals,legislating and formulating laws and regulations to protect lakes,strengthening publicity and the education of people,increasing public awareness through participation in systems and mechanic innovations,establishing lake region management institutions,and ensuring implementation of governance and management measures. | Xiangcan JIN Shaoyong LU Xiaozhen HU Xia JIANG Fengchang WU | 2008 | Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2008,2,3: | 2 |
| 8 | A New Type of Rare Metal Deposit:The Yushishan Leptynite-Type Nb-Ta Deposit in Eastern Altun,Gansu Province,NW China显示文摘The Yusishan deposit is a newly found leptynite-type niobium and tantalum(Nb-Ta)deposit,which is located in the Eastern Altun of Gansu Province.The leptynite of the Neoproterozoic Aoyougou Formation occurs more than 10 km long and 3 km wide.In this paper,we carried out a detailed study of the leptynite and related mineralization.The U-Pb dating of zircon reveals ages of 831±5 Ma and 790±5 Ma for the unmineralized leptynite and 491±4 Ma and 455±4 Ma for the mineralized leptynite.The petrographic and geochemical evidence identified the protolith of the leptynite as alkalin e volcanic rocks that erupted during Neoproterozoic at ca.830 Ma.At ca.490 Ma,the tectono-magmatic and metamorphic event triggered remobilization and enrichment of Nb-Ta as well as other critical metals(REE,Zr,Hf etc)with the formation of industry orebodies in the leptynite strata.The Yushishan deposit presents many similarities with the alkaline volcanic rocks related rare metal deposits in the south Qinling of China and the Brochman,Toogni and Southern Peak Range deposits in Australian.We therefore propose that the Yushishan deposit is a new type(sub-type)of Nb-Ta deposit and termed as leptynite type that represents the metamorphic counterpart of the alkaline volcanic rocks related rare metal deposits. | JIANG SHAOYONG LIU TAO ZHANG HAOXIANG CAO SHUYUN ZHENG RUOHONG LI TONGGUO YU JUNPENG WU YIBU | 2022 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2022,96,5: | 2 |
