| 1 | Reduction and characterization of bioaerosols in a wastewater treatment station via ventilation显示文摘Bioaerosols from wastewater treatment processes are a significant subgroup of atmospheric aerosols. In the present study,airborne microorganisms generated from a wastewater treatment station(WWTS) that uses an oxidation ditch process were diminished by ventilation.Conventional sampling and detection methods combined with cloning/sequencing techniques were applied to determine the groups,concentrations,size distributions,and species diversity of airborne microorganisms before and after ventilation. There were 3021 ± 537 CFU/m3 of airborne bacteria and 926 ± 132 CFU/m3 of airborne fungi present in the WWTS bioaerosol.Results showed that the ventilation reduced airborne microorganisms significantly compared to the air in the WWTS. Over 60% of airborne bacteria and airborne fungi could be reduced after4 hr of air exchange. The highest removal(92.1% for airborne bacteria and 89.1% for fungi) was achieved for 0.65–1.1 μm sized particles. The bioaerosol particles over 4.7 μm were also reduced effectively. Large particles tended to be lost by gravitational settling and small particles were generally carried away,which led to the relatively easy reduction of bioaerosol particles0.65–1.1 μm and over 4.7 μm in size. | 2 | Chemical compound cinobufotalin potently induces FOXO1-stimulated cisplatin sensitivity by antagonizing its binding partner MYH9显示文摘In this study,we present novel molecular mechanisms by which FOXO1 functions as a tumor suppressor to prevent the pathogenesis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC).First,we observed that FOXO1 not only controlled tumor stemness and metastasis,but also sensitized NPC cells to cisplatin(DDP)in vitro and in vivo.Mechanistic studies demonstrated that FOXO1-induced miR-200b expression through the GSK3β/β-catenin/TCF4 network-mediated stimulation of ZEB1,which reduced tumor stemness and the epithelial–mesenchymal transition(EMT)signal.Furthermore,we observed FOXO1 interaction with MYH9 and suppression of MYH9 expression by modulating the PI3K/AKT/c-Myc/P53/miR-133a-3p pathway.Decreased MYH9 expression not only reduced its interactions with GSK3β,but also attenuated TRAF6 expression,which then decreased the ubiquitin-mediated degradation of GSK3βprotein.Increased GSK3βexpression stimulated theβ-catenin/TCF4/ZEB1/miR-200b network,which increased the downstream tumor stemness and EMT signals.Subsequently,we observed that chemically synthesized cinobufotalin(CB)strongly increased FOXO1-induced DDP chemosensitivity by reducing MYH9 expression,and the reduction in MYH9 modulated GSK3β/β-catenin and its downstream tumor stemness and EMT signal in NPC.In clinical samples,the combination of low FOXO1 expression and high MYH9 expression indicated the worst overall survival rates.Our studies demonstrated that CB potently induced FOXO1-mediated DDP sensitivity by antagonizing its binding partner MYH9 to modulate tumor stemness in NPC. | YongHao Li Xiong Liu Xian Lin Menyang Zhao Yanyi Xiao Chen Liu Zixi Liang Zelong Lin Renhui Yi Zibo Tang Jiahao Liu Xin Li Qingping Jiang Libo Li Yinyin Xie Zhen Liu Weiyi Fang | 2019 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2019,4,1: | 6 |
| 3 | Super enhancer inhibitors suppress MYC driven transcriptional amplification and tumor progression in osteosarcoma显示文摘Osteosarcoma is the most common primary bone sarcoma that mostly occurs in young adults. The causes of osteosarcoma are heterogeneous and still not fully understood. Identification of novel, important oncogenic factors in osteosarcoma and development of better, effective therapeutic approaches are in urgent need for better treatment of osteosarcoma patients. In this study, we uncovered that the oncogene MYC is significantly upregulated in metastastic osteosarcoma samples. In addition, high MYC expression is associated with poor survival of osteosarcoma patients. Analysis of MYC targets in osteosarcoma revealed that most of the osteosarcoma super enhancer genes are bound by MYC. Treatment of osteosarcoma cells with super enhancer inhibitors THZ1 and JQ1 effectively suppresses the proliferation, migration, and invasion of osteosarcoma cells. Mechanistically,THZ1 treatment suppresses a large group of super enhancer containing MYC target genes including CDK6 and TGFB2. | 4 | Microstructure and properties of novel Al-Ce-Sc,Al-Ce-Y,Al-Ce-Zr and Al-Ce-Sc-Y alloy conductors processed by die casting,hot extrusion and cold drawing显示文摘In order to overcome the trade-off between the strength and electrical conductivity of aluminum alloy conductors,the new Al-Ce-Sc,Al-Ce-Y,Al-Ce-Zr and Al-Ce-Sc-Y alloys were prepared by die casting,high temperature homogenization treatment,hot extrusion and cold drawing.Adding Sc and Y eliminated the dendrite segregation of the as-cast Al-0.2 Ce alloy and promoted the formation of equiaxed grains with the average grain size of 142.5μm.The Al-0.2 Ce-0.2 Sc-0.1 Y alloy inherited the great tensile properties of Al-0.2 Ce-0.2 Sc alloy and the high electrical conductivity of Al-0.2 Ce-0.1 Y alloy simultaneously.After cold drawing and annealing at 200℃for 5 h,the ultimate tensile strength of Al-0.2 Ce-0.2 Sc-0.1 Y alloy reached 200 MPa and 198 MPa,the elongation reached 6.8%and 8.5%,and the electrical conductivity reached 61.01%and 61.77%,respectively.The main second phase of Al-0.2 Ce-0.2 Sc-0.1 Y alloy after hot extrusion were Al_(13)Fe_3 Ce containing a few Y and Si atoms.The larger size and proportion of the second phase greatly reduced the concentration of solute Fe and Si atoms and the addition of Y significantly decreased the density of defects after cold drawing compared to Al-0.2 Ce-0.2 Sc alloy,which improved electrical conductivity of the alloy.Furthermore,the dispersed and coherent nano-size Al_3 Sc precipitions of Al-0.2 Ce-0.2 Sc-0.1 Y alloy greatly improved strength,elongation and heat resistance.Compared with Al-0.2 Ce-0.2 Sc alloy,the lower density of dislocation,stacking fault and subgrain boundary and the larger size of Al_3 Sc precipitions with enrichment of Y atoms enable the Al-0.2 Ce-0.2 Sc-0.1 Y alloy to maintain high strength,elongation and electrical conductivity after annealing. | Weiyi Wang Qinglin Pan Geng Lin Xiaoping Wang Yuqiao Sun Xiangdong Wang Ji Ye Yuanwei Sun Yi Yu Fuqing Jiang Jun Li Yaru Liu | 2020 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2020,58,23: | 4 |

| 6 | Boosted photoreduction of diluted CO_(2) through oxygen vacancy engineering in NiO nanoplatelets显示文摘Converting carbon dioxide(CO_(2))to diverse value-added products through photocatalysis can validly alleviate the critical issues of greenhouse effect and energy shortages simultaneously.In particular,based on practical considerations,exploring novel catalysts to achieve efficient photoreduction of diluted CO_(2) is necessary and urgent.However,this process is extremely challenging owing to the disturbance of competitive adsorption at low CO_(2) concentration.Herein,we delicately synthesize oxygen vacancy-laden NiO nanoplatelets(r-NiO)via calcination under Ar protection to reduce diluted CO_(2) through visible light irradiation(>400 nm)assisted by a Ru-based photosensitizer.Benefitting from the strongly CO_(2) adsorption energy of oxygen vacancies,which was confirmed by density functional calculations,the r-NiO catalysts exhibit higher activity and selectivity(6.28×10^(3)µmol·h^(−1)·g^(−1);82.11%)for diluted CO_(2)-to-CO conversion than that of the normal NiO(3.94×10^(3)µmol·h^(−1)·g^(−1);65.26%).Besides,the presence of oxygen vacancies can also promote the separation of electron-hole pairs.Our research demonstrates that oxygen vacancies could act as promising candidates for photocatalytic CO_(2) reduction,offering fundamental guidance for the actual photoreduction of diluted CO_(2) in the future. | Weiyi Chen Xueming Liu Bin Han Shujie Liang Hong Deng Zhang Lin | 2021 | Nano Research2021,14,3: | 2 |

We found that the phonon scattering is affected by the isotopic carbon atom as a point defect. Based on the experiment results, the Klemens-Callaway model and uncertainty principle were used to obtain the mean free path of the G and D phonons. | 14 | An integrative protocol for one‑step PCR amplicon library construction and accurate demultiplexing of pooled sequencing data显示文摘High-throughput sequencing of amplicons has been widely used to precisely and efficiently identify species compositions and analyze community structures,greatly promoting biological studies involving large amounts of complex samples,especially those involving environmental and pathogen-monitoring ones.Commercial library preparation kits for amplicon sequencing,which generally require multiple steps,including adapter ligation and indexing,are expensive and time-consuming,especially for applications at a large scale.To overcome these limitations,a“one-step PCR approach”has been previously proposed for constructions of amplicon libraries using long fusion primers.However,efficient amplifications of target genes and accurate demultiplexing of pooled sequencing data remain to be addressed.To tackle these,we present an integrative protocol for one-step PCR amplicon library construction(OSPALC).High-quality reads have been generated by this approach to reliably identify species compositions of mock bacterial communities and environmental samples.With this protocol,the amplicon library is constructed through one regular PCR with long primers,and the total cost per DNA/cDNA sample decreases to just 7%of the typical cost via the multi-step PCR approach.Empirically tested primers and optimized PCR conditions to construct OSPALC libraries for 16S rDNA V4 regions are demonstrated as a case study.Tools to design primers targeting at any genomic regions are also presented.In principle,OSPALC can be readily applied to construct amplicon libraries of any target genes using DNA or RNA samples,and will facilitate research in numerous fields. | Jiahao Ni Jiao Pan Yaohai Wang Tianhao Chen Xinshi Feng Yichen Li Tongtong Lin Michael Lynch Hongan Long Weiyi Li | 2023 | Marine Life Science & Technology2023,5,4: | 1 |
| 15 | CVD synthesis of nitrogen-doped graphene using urea显示文摘This work provides an effective low-cost synthesis and in-depth mechanistic study of high quality large-area nitrogen-doped graphene(NG) films. These films were synthesized using urea as nitrogen source and methane as carbon source, and were characterized by scanning electron microscopy(SEM), Raman spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS). The N doping level was determined to be 3.72 at.%, and N atoms were suggested to mainly incorporated in a pyrrolic N configuration. All distinct Raman peaks display a shift due to the nitrogen-doping and compressive strain. The increase in urea concentration broadens the D and 2D peak's Full Width at Half Maximum(FWHM), due to the decrease of mean free path of phonons.
