1First identification of kdr allele F1534S in VGSC gene and its association with resistance to pyrethroid insecticides in Aedes albopictus populations from Haikou City,Hainan Island,China显示文摘Background:Aedes albopictus is distributed widely in China,as a primary vector of Dengue fever and Chikungunya fever in south of China.Chemical insecticide control is one of the integrated programmes to prevent mosquito-borne diseases.Long-term applications of pyrethroids have resulted in the development of resistance in Ae.albopictus populations in China.However,the susceptibility of Ae.albopictus to pyrethroids in Hainan Island was unclear.Knockdown resistance(kdr),caused by point mutations in the VGSC gene,is one of the mechanisms that confer resistance to DDT and pyrethroids.This study was to investigate the resistance level of Ae.albopictus populations in Haikou City to three pyrethroid insecticides,and elucidate the relationship between the resistant phenotype and kdr mutations.Methods:The Aedes albopictus samples were collected in Xinbu Island(XI),Longtang Town(LT),Shishan Town(ST),Baishamen Park(BP),and Flower Market(FM)from Haikou City,Hainan Island,China.The larval susceptibility to deltamethrin,permethrin and beta-cypermethrin was tested by larval bioassays,and adult susceptibility to deltamethrin and DDT was determined by adult bioassays.The degree of resistance was determined by resistance ratio value(RR50>3)for larvae and by mortality for adult.The kdr alleles at codon 1534 of the VGSC gene were genotyped.The relationship between kdr genotypes and resistant phenotypes was analyzed by Chi-square test.Results:Out of five populations,assessed by larval bioassays,XI was susceptible to deltamethrin and permethrin;LT was susceptible to permethrin and beta-cypermethrin;and ST was susceptible to permithrin.FM and BP both were resistant to all of the three pyrethroids,and FM showed the highest degree of resistance,with RR50 values from 65.17 to 436.36.A total of 493 individuals from the larval bioassays were genotyped for kdr alleles.Five alleles were detected,including two wildtype alleles,TTC(F)(67.04%)and TTT(F)(0.41%),and three mutant alleles,TGC(C)(0.30%),TCC(S)(31.54%)and TTG(L)(0.71%).There was a clear correlation between mutant alleles(or F1534S)and resistant phenotypes(P<0.01).Conclusion:Two novel kdr mutant alleles F1534S and F1534L were detected in the pyrethroid resistant populations of Ae.albopictus in Haikou Hainan,China.For the first time,the mutant F1534S was associated with pyrethroid resistance in Ae.albopictus.Huiying Chen Kaili Li Xiaohua Wang Xinyan Yang Yi Lin Fang Cai Wenbin Zhong Chunyan Lin Zhongling Lin Yajun Ma 2016Infectious Diseases of Poverty2016,5,1:19
2Battery Technologies for Grid-Level Large-Scale Electrical Energy Storage显示文摘Grid-level large-scale electrical energy storage(GLEES) is an essential approach for balancing the supply–demand of electricity generation, distribution, and usage. Compared with conventional energy storage methods, battery technologies are desirable energy storage devices for GLEES due to their easy modularization, rapid response, flexible installation, and short construction cycles. In general, battery energy storage technologies are expected to meet the requirements of GLEES such as peak shaving and load leveling, voltage and frequency regulation, and emergency response, which are highlighted in this perspective. Furthermore, several types of battery technologies, including lead–acid, nickel–cadmium, nickel–metal hydride, sodium–sulfur, lithium-ion, and flow batteries, are discussed in detail for the application of GLEES. 3Advances in the development of power supplies for the Internet of Everything显示文摘The Internet of Everything(IoE),which aims to realize information exchange and communications for anything with the Internet,has revolutionized our modern world.Serving as the driving force for devices in the IoE network,power supply systems play a fundamental role in the development of the IoE.However,due to the complexity,multifunctionality and wide-scale deployment of diverse applications,power supply systems face great challenges,including distribution,connection,charging technologies,and management.In this review,some challenges and advances in the development of both power supply systems and their units are presented.In the overall system-level field,establishing sustainable and maintenancefree power supply systems through wireless connections,efficient power management and integrated energy harvesting and storage systems is highlighted.Additionally,the main performance metrics of power supply units are discussed,including energy density,service life,and self-power ability.In addition,some directions of power quality assessment for both the system and unit levels of power supply systems are presented,aiming to provide insight into the future development of high-performance power supply systems for the IoE.Xiayue Fan Xiaorui Liu Wenbin Hu Cheng Zhong Jun Lu 2019InfoMat2019,1,2:11

5Heterogeneous lamellar-edged Fe-Ni(OH)_(2)/Ni_(3)S_(2)nanoarray for efficient and stable seawater oxidation显示文摘Development of efficient non-precious catalysts for seawater electrolysis is of great significance but challenging due to the sluggish kinetics of oxygen evolution reaction(OER)and the impairment of chlorine electrochemistry at anode.Herein,we report a heterostructure of Ni_(3)S_(2)nanoarray with secondary Fe-Ni(OH)_(2)lamellar edges that exposes abundant active sites towards seawater oxidation.The resultant Fe-Ni(OH)_(2)/Ni_(3)S_(2)nanoarray works directly as a free-standing anodic electrode in alkaline artificial seawater.It only requires an overpotential of 269 mV to afford a current density of 10 mA·cm^(-2)and the Tafel slope is as low as 46 m V·dec^(-1).The 27-hour chronopotentiometry operated at high current density of 100 mA·cm^(-2)shows negligible deterioration,suggesting good stability of the Fe-Ni(OH)_(2)/Ni_(3)S_(2)@NF electrode.Faraday efficiency for oxygen evolution is up to〜95%,revealing decent selectivity of the catalyst in saline water.Such desirable catalytic performance could be benefitted from the introduction of Fe activator and the heterostructure that offers massive active and selective sites.The density functional theory(DFT)calculations indicate that the OER has lower theoretical overpotential than Cl_(2) evolution reaction in Fe sites,which is contrary to that of Ni sites.The experimental and theoretical study provides a strong support for the rational design of high-performance Fe-based electrodes for industrial seawater electrolysis.Baihua Cui Zheng Hu Chang Liu Siliang Liu Fangshuai Chen Shi Hu Jinfeng Zhang Wei Zhou Yida Deng Zhenbo Qin Zhong Wu Yanan Chen Lifeng Cui Wenbin Hu 2021Nano Research2021,14,4:7
6Intensive phototherapy vs.exchange transfusion for the treatment of neonatal hyperbilirubinemia:a multicenter retrospective cohort study显示文摘Background:Intensive phototherapy(IPT)and exchange transfusion(ET)are the main treatments for extreme hyperbilirubinemia.However,there is no reliable evidence on determining the thresholds for these treatments.This multicenter study compared the effectiveness and complications of IPT and ET in the treatment of extreme hyperbilirubinemia.Methods:This retrospective cohort study was conducted in seven centers from January 2015 to January 2018.Patients with extreme hyperbilirubinemia that met the criteria of ET were included.Patients were divided into three subgroups(low-,medium-,and high-risk)according to gestational week and risk factors.Propensity score matching(PSM)was performed to balance the data before treatment.Study outcomes included the development of bilirubin encephalopathy,duration of hospitalization,expenses,and complications.Mortality,auditory complications,seizures,enamel dysplasia,ocular motility disorders,athetosis,motor,and language development were evaluated during follow-up at age of 3 years.Results:A total of 1164 patients were included in this study.After PSM,296 patients in the IPT only group and 296 patients in the IPT plus ET group were further divided into the low-,medium-,and high-risk subgroups with 188,364,and 40 matched patients,respectively.No significant differences were found between the IPT only and IPT plus ET groups in terms of morbidity,complications,and sequelae.Hospitalization duration and expenses were lower in the low-and medium-risk subgroups in the IPT only group.Conclusions:In this study,our results suggest that IPT is a safe and effective treatment for extreme hyperbilirubinemia.The indication of ET for patients with hyperbilirubinemia could be stricter.However,it is necessary to have a contingency plan for emergency ET as soon as IPT is commenced especially for infants with risk factors.If IPT can be guaranteed and proved to be therapeutic,ET should be avoided as much as possible.Meng Zhang Yang He Jun Tang Wenbin Dong Yong Zhang Benjin Zhang Hong Wan Quanmin Deng Lirong Guan Bin Xia Zhong Chen Min Ge Jing Zhao Wenxing Li Jingjun Pei Yi Qu Dezhi Mu 2022Chinese Medical Journal2022,,5:7
7Carbon-based cathode materials for rechargeable zinc-air batteries: From current collectors to bifunctional integrated air electrodes显示文摘Rechargeable zinc-air batteries(ZABs)have attracted much attention as the next-generation energy conversion and storage devices due to the abundance and environmental friendliness of zinc(Zn)for anode materials,as well as the safety and low cost of aqueous electrolytes.However,rational design of nonprecious and low-cost integrated air cathode materials with a desirable bifunctional oxygen electrocatalytic performance remains a great challenge for the commercialization of rechargeable ZABs.In previous research studies,various cost-effective carbon-supported electrocatalysts and light-weight carbon-based current collectors for air cathodes have been developed,showing vast potential in the application of carbon-based materials.To improve the bifunctional performance and integration of air cathodes,efforts with respect to the design of morphology,defects,and synergistic effects of carbon-based materials have been made.In this perspective,the general understanding of the air cathode construction and the battery working mechanism is discussed.The recent progress in the design of carbon-based materials for air cathodes in rechargeable ZABs is summarized.Several possible future research directions and the expected development trends are also discussed,aiming to facilitate the commercialization of advanced rechargeable ZABs in our life.Jingkun Wu Bin Liu Xiayue Fan Jia Ding Xiaopeng Han Yida Deng Wenbin Hu Cheng Zhong 2020Carbon Energy2020,2,3:4
8Application of a Novel Method for Machine Performance Degradation Assessment Based on Gaussian Mixture Model and Logistic Regression显示文摘The currently prevalent machine performance degradation assessment techniques involve estimating a machine's current condition based upon the recognition of indications of failure features,which entail complete data collected in different conditions.However,failure data are always hard to acquire,thus making those techniques hard to be applied.In this paper,a novel method which does not need failure history data is introduced.Wavelet packet decomposition(WPD) is used to extract features from raw signals,principal component analysis(PCA) is utilized to reduce feature dimensions,and Gaussian mixture model(GMM) is then applied to approximate the feature space distributions.Single-channel confidence value(SCV) is calculated by the overlap between GMM of the monitoring condition and that of the normal condition,which can indicate the performance of single-channel.Furthermore,multi-channel confidence value(MCV),which can be deemed as the overall performance index of multi-channel,is calculated via logistic regression(LR) and that the task of decision-level sensor fusion is also completed.Both SCV and MCV can serve as the basis on which proactive maintenance measures can be taken,thus preventing machine breakdown.The method has been adopted to assess the performance of the turbine of a centrifugal compressor in a factory of Petro-China,and the result shows that it can effectively complete this task.The proposed method has engineering significance for machine performance degradation assessment.LIU Wenbin ZHONG Xin LEE Jay LIAO Linxia ZHOU Min 2011Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2011,24,5:3
9Using nerve segment insert grafting to reconstruct neural pathways of brain-derived paralysis显示文摘Since 1992,task groups have used free nerve auto grafts to bridge partially transected nerves from the dominant area of the normal cerebral cortex to nerves that innervate spastic muscles from a diseased cerebral cortex,using transplanting sutures to alleviate the muscle spasm of cerebral palsy caused by different diseases. This has facilitated rebuilding of some of its neurological function. In this study,80 such patients were followed up,including 20 patients with traumatic brain injury,32 patients with stroke,and 28 pediatric patients with cerebral palsy. 11Engineering cobalt sulfide/oxide heterostructure with atomically mixed interfaces for synergistic electrocatalytic water splitting显示文摘It remains challenging to develop economical and bifunctional electrocatalysts toward oxygen/hydrogen evolution reactions(OER/HER).Herein,we construct Co_(9)S_(8) nanoflakes decorated Co_(3)O_(4) nanoarrays with enriched heterogeneous interface zones on Ni foam(Co_(9)S_(8)@CO_(3)O_(4)/NF)via a novel step-wise approach.The Co_(9)S_(8)@Co_(3)O_(4)/NF hybrid manifests excellent performance with low overpotentials of 130 mV for HER(10 mA·cm^(-2))and 331 mV for OER(100 mA·cm^(-2)),delivering a small voltage of 1.52 V for water splitting at 10 mA·cm^(-2) as well as outstanding catalytic durability,which surpasses precious metals and previously reported earth-abundant nanocatalysts.Further experimental and theoretical investigations demonstrate that the excellent performance is attributed to the followings:(i)Highly conductive Ni facilitates the efficient charge transfer;(ii)porous core-shell nanoarchitecture benefits the infiltration and transportation of gases/ions;(iii)heterogeneous interface zones synergistically lower the chemisorption energy of hydrogen/oxygen intermediates.This work will shed light on the controllable synthesis and engineering of heterostructure nanomaterials for clean energy storage and conversion technologies.Xiaoyang Wang Yu He Xiaopeng Han Jun Zhao Lanlan Li Jinfeng Zhang Cheng Zhong Yida Deng Wenbin Hu 2022Nano Research2022,15,2:2

17Influence of morphological variations on the AC breakdown of XLPE insulation in submarine cable factory joints显示文摘Extruded crosslinked polyethylene(XLPE)submarine cables with factory joints play a significant role in cross-sea transmission interconnection projects.Morphological variations in the insulation of submarine cables and factory joints are caused by differences in process parameters.The dielectric properties of XLPE are affected by its morphology.In this study,samples of XLPE insulating materials were taken from the cable bulk,cable–joint transition,and factory joint,respectively,of a 500 kV high-voltage AC submarine cable.The crosslinked morphology was obtained by extraction and infrared spectrometer.The crystal morphology was obtained by the way of etchant,differential scanning calorimetry,and X-ray diffractometry.The Weibull distribution was used to gather statistics of AC breakdown strength.The results show that in comparison with the cable bulk,the contents of crosslinked byproducts are higher in the cable–joint transition and factory joint.At the same time,there is a sparse distribution in terms of crystal morphology,with the appearance of smaller grains and lower crystallinity,in the cable–joint transition and factory joint.These morphological variations would generate more heat during electron transport and lengthen the free paths of electrons,then lead to the occurrence of AC breakdown.The results might provide insights into the optimisation of the morphology of XLPE,in particular submarine cable factory joints.Zhenpeng Zhang Jiankang Zhao Wei Zhao Lisheng Zhong Liexiang HU Wenbin Rao Mei Zheng Shaoxin Meng 2020High Voltage2020,5,1:1
