Study on the velocity structure of the crust in Southwest Yunnan of the north-south seismic belt—Results from the Menghai-Gengma-Lushui deep seismic sounding profile显示文摘Southwest Yunnan, located in the southern segment of the north-south seismic belt, is one of the regions with strong tectonic movement and seismic activity in China. Study on the characteristics of tectonic setting and deep geophysical field in the region is an important issue in basic science. In 2013, we conducted a 600-km-long Menghai-Gengma-Lushui profile of deep seismic wide-angle reflection/refraction and high-resolution seismic refraction in Southwest Yunnan. In this paper, we use 6 groups of clear intracrustal P-wave phases picked from the seismic record sections of 11 shots to build a velocity structure model of basement and 2D crustal P-wave of the region by using finite difference inversion and ray travel time forward fitting technology. The results show that, from south to north, the crust gradually thickens along the profile and its basement shows a significant lateral heterogeneity. In the vicinity of the Nanting River fault, the basement structure shows the character of alternate depressions and uplifts, and the shallowest basement is about 1.0 km. In the vicinity of Tengchong and Lancang, the basement is about 5.0 km deep. The velocity of the middle and lower crust in the region generally increases with the increasing of depth. At the block boundary and beneath the fault tectonic belt, the velocity contours show apparent irregularity and the P-wave velocity changes sharply. In this region, the Moho gradually deepens from south to north with relatively large lateral undulations. The shallowest point of the Moho is located near Menghai at a depth of about 32.0 km. The deepest point of the Moho is located near Tengchong at a depth of about 40.5 km. Between Gengma and Yongde, the Moho shows significantly fast uplifting and depressing with an amplitude of about 4.0 km. Beneath the Nanting River fault, Longling-Ruili fault, Dayingjiang fault and Tengchong volcano, the basement velocity structure, 2D crustal P-wave velocity structure, distribution of average profile velocity and intracrustal interface spreading also show significant changes from the basement to the top of the Moho, indicating that the crustal velocity and medium physical properties beneath the fault tectonic belt are apparently different from the crustal materials on its both sides, which suggests that these faults should be in a certain scale and may extend to the lower crust or the top of the upper mantle. The earthquakes in the region mainly occurred at a depth of 10–20 km, and the seismic activity is related to the intracrustal medium velocity difference and fault belt distribution. The results can serve as the important data of the crust-mantle structure for the analysis of the deep tectonic setting, earthquake precise positioning, seismogenic structure modeling of the seismic activities in Southwest Yunnan, as well as the important reference for the evaluation of seismic hazard and the planning of earthquake disaster mitigation of this region.WANG ShuaiJun LIU BaoJin ZHANG JianShi LIU BaoFeng DUAN YuLing SONG XiangHui DENG XiaoGuo MA CeJun ZANG YiRan 2015Science China Earth Sciences2015,58,12:13
Source emissions and climate change impacts on the multimedia transport and fate of persistent organic pollutants,Chaohu watershed, eastern China显示文摘Emission intensity and climate change control the transport flux and fate of persistent organic pollutants(POPs)inmultiple environmental compartments. This study applied amultimedia model(BETR model)to explore alternations in the spatio-temporal trends of concentrations and transport flux of benzopyrene(BaP),phenanthrene(Phe),perfluorooctane sulfonates(PFOS)and polychlorinated biphenyls(PCBs)in the Chaohu watershed, located in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River,China in response to changes in source emissions and climate. The potential historic and future risks of these pollutants also were assessed. The results suggest that current trends in concentrations and transport were similar to that of their emissions between 2005 and 2018.During the next 100 years, temporal trends and spatial patterns were not predicted to change significantly, which is consistent with climate change.Based on sensitivity and correlation analyses, climate change had significant effects on multi-media concentrations and transport fluxes of BaP,Phe,PFOS and PCBs,and rainfall intensity was the predominant controlling factor.Risk quotients(RQs)of BaP and Phe-in soil increased from 0.42 to 0.95 and 0.06 to 0.35,respectively,from 2005 to 2090,indicating potential risks. The RQs of the other examined contaminants exhibited little potential risk in soil, water,or sediment.Based on spatial patterns,it was inferred that the ecosystem around Lake Chaohu is the most at risk. The study provides insights needed for local pollution control of POPs in the Chaohu watershed. In addition, the developed approach can be applied to other watersheds world-wide.Xianghui Cao Shouliang Huo Hanxiao Zhang Jiaqi Zheng Zhuoshi He Chunzi Ma Shuai Song 2021Journal of Environmental Sciences2021,33,11:3
Crustal P-wave velocity structure in the northeastern margin of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau and insights into crustal deformation显示文摘The transitional area between the northeastern margin of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, Ordos Block and Alxa Block, also being the northern segment of the North-South Seismic Belt, is characterized by considerably high seismicity level and high risk of strong earthquakes. In view of the special tectonic environment and deep tectonic setting in this area, this study used two seismic wide-angle reflection/refraction cross profiles for double constraining, so as to more reliably obtain the fine-scale velocity structure characteristics in both the shallow and deep crust of individual blocks and their boundaries in the study area, and further discuss the seismogenic environment in seismic zones with strong historical earthquakes. In this paper, the P-wave data from the two profiles are processed and interpreted, and two-dimensional crustal velocity structure models along the two profiles are constructed by travel time forward modeling. The results show that there are great differences in velocity structure, shape of intra-crustal interfaces and crustal thickness among different blocks sampled by the two seismic profiles. The crustal thickness along the Lanzhou-Huianbu-Yulin seismic sounding profile(L1) increases from ~43 km in the western margin of Ordos Block to ~56 km in the Qilian Block to the west. In the Ordos Block, the velocity contours vary gently, and the average velocity of the crust is about 6.30 km s-1; On the other hand, the velocity structures in the crust of the Qilian Block and the arclike tectonic zone vary dramatically, and the average crustal velocities in these areas are about 0.10 km s-1 lower than that of the Ordos Block. In addition, discontinuous low-velocity bodies(LVZ1 and LVZ2) are identified in the crust of the Qilian Block and the arc-like tectonic zone, the velocity of which is 0.10–0.20 km s-1 lower than that of the surroundings. The average crustal thickness of the Ordos Block is consistently estimated to be around 43 km along both Profile L2(Tongchuan-Huianbu-Alashan left banner seismic sounding profile) and Profile L1. In contrast to the gently varying intra-crustal interfaces and velocity contours in the Ordos Block along Profile L1, which is a typical structure characteristic of stable cratons, the crustal structure in the Ordos Block along Profile L2 exhibits rather complex variations. This indicates the presence of significant structural differences in the crust within the Ordos Block. The crustal structure of the Helan Mountain Qilian Block and the Yinchuan Basin is featured by 'uplift and depression' undulations, showing the characteristics of localized compressional deformation. Moreover, there are low-velocity zones with alternative high and low velocities in the middle and lower crust beneath the Helan Mountain, where the velocity is about 0.15–0.25 km s-1 lower than that of the surrounding areas. The crustal thickness of the Alxa Block is about 49 km, and the velocity contours in the upper and middle-lower crust of the block vary significantly. The complex crustal velocity structure images along the two seismic sounding profiles L1 and L2 reveal considerable structural differences among different tectonic blocks, their coupling relationships and velocity structural features in the seismic zones where strong historical earthquakes occurred. The imaging result of this study provides fine-scale crustal structure information for further understanding the seismogenic environment and mechanism in the study area.Shuaijun WANG Baojin LIU Xiaofeng TIAN Baofeng LIU Xianghui SONG Xiaoguo DENG Yinan SUN Cejun MA Yudong YANG 2018Science China Earth Sciences2018,61,9:3
The Msi1-mTOR pathway drives the pathogenesis of mammary and extramammary Paget’s disease显示文摘Mammary and extramammary Paget’s Diseases(PD)are a malignant skin cancer characterized by the appearance of Paget cells.Although easily diagnosed, its pathogenesis remains unknown.Here,single-cell RNA-sequencing identified distinct cellular states, novel biomarkers, and signaling pathways—including mTOR,associated with extramammary PD.Interestingly,we identified MSI1 ectopic overexpression in basal epithelial cells of human PD skin, and show that Msi1 overexpression in the epidermal basal layer of mice phenocopies human PD at histopathological,single-cell and molecular levels.Using this mouse model,we identified novel biomarkers of Paget-like cells that translated to human Paget cells.Furthermore,single-cell trajectory,RNA velocity and lineage-tracing analyses revealed a putative keratinocyte-to-Paget-like cell conversion, supporting the in situ transformation theory of disease pathogenesis.Mechanistically, the Msi1-mTOR pathway drives keratinocyte-Paget-like cell conversion, and suppression of mTOR signaling with Rapamycin significantly rescued the Paget-like phenotype in Msi1-overexpressing transgenic mice.Topical Rapamycin treatment improved extramammary PD-associated symptoms in humans, suggesting mTOR inhibition as a novel therapeutic treatment in PD.Yongli Song Christian F.Guerrero-Juarez Zhongjian Chen Yichen Tang Xianghui Ma Cong Lv Xueyun Bi Min Deng Lina Bu Yuhua Tian Ruiqi Liu Ran Zhao Jiuzhi Xu Xiaole Sheng Sujuan Du Yeqiang Liu Yunlu Zhu Shi-jun Shan Hong-duo Chen Yiqiang Zhao Guangbiao Zhou Jianwei Shuai Fazheng Ren Lixiang Xue Zhaoxia Ying Xing Dai Christopher J.Lengner Bogi Andersen Maksim V.Plikus Qing Nie Zhengquan Yu-Show 2020Cell Research2020,30,10:2
Resilient Control in Large-Scale Networked Cyber-Physical Systems: Guest Editorial显示文摘RECENT advances in sensing, communication and computing have open the door to the deployment of largescale networks of sensors and actuators that allow fine-grain monitoring and control of a multitude of physical processes and infrastructures. The appellation used by field experts for these paradigms is Cyber-Physical Systems(CPS)because the dynamics among computers, networking media/resources and physical systems interact in a way that multi-disciplinary technologies(embedded systems, computers, communications and controls)are required to accomplish prescribed missions. Moreover, they are expected to play a significant role in the design and development of future engineering applications such as smart grids, transportation systems, nuclear plants and smart factories.Giuseppe Franze Giancarlo Fortino Xianghui Cao Giuseppe Maria Luigi Sarne Zhen Song 2020IEEE/CAA Journal of Automatica Sinica2020,7,5:1

AFM characterization of surface mechanical and electrical properties of some common rocks显示文摘The characterization of micro-surface mechanical and electrical properties of the natural rock materials remains inadequate, and their macroscopic performance can be better comprehended by investigating the surface properties. With this purpose, the present research focuses on characterizing the microsurface morphology,Derjaguin-Muller-Toporov(DMT)modulus,adhesion,and potential of granite, shale, and limestone by employing the atomic force microscope(AFM)as a pioneer attempt. The results show that the micro-surface morphology of the rock fluctuates within hundreds of nanometers, among which the granite micro-surface is comparatively the smoothest, followed by limestone. The morphology of the shale is the roughest, indicating that the regional difference of shale micro-surface is dominant. The distribution of the adhesion on rock micro-surface is uneven;the average adhesion of eight measuring areas for shale is 23.93 n N,accounting for three times of granite and limestone, while the surface DMT modulus of shale is relatively lower than granite and limestone. It is inferred from the obtained results that higher surface adhesion is helpful to the gas adsorption of shale, and the lower surface DMT(elastic)modulus is useful to the formation of fractures and pores. Thus, these two are the micromechanical basis of shale gas adsorption.Additionally, introducing a method to reduce the surface adhesion will benefit the exploration of unconventional resources such as shale gas.The micro-surface of the three types of rocks all shows electricity, with average potential ranging from tens of millivolts to hundreds of millivolts.Besides, the micro-surface potential of the rocks are heterogeneous, and both positive and negative points can be found. The existence and uneven distribution of micro-surface potential provide a robust physical basis for the electromagnetic radiation generated by rock fracture under loading. This study offers a new method for revealing the adsorption characteristics of unconventional gas reservoir rocks and the electromagnetic radiation mechanism of the rock fracture.Xianghui Tian Xueqiu He Dazhao Song Zhenlei Li Majid Khan Huifang Liu Liming Qiu 2022International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2022,32,2:1
The acceleration degradation processes of different aged refuses with the forced aeration for landfill reclamation显示文摘Forced aeration is one of the promising ways to accelerate landfill reclamation, and understanding the relation between aeration rates and waste properties is the prerequisite to implementing forced aeration under the target of energy saving and carbon reduction. In this work, landfill reclamation processes with forced aeration were simulated using aged refuses(ARs)of 1,4,7,10,and 13 disposal years, and the potential of field application was also investigated based on a field project,to identify the degradation rate of organic components, the O_(2)consumption efficiency and their correlations to microbes. It was found that the removal rate of organic matter declined from 20.3%(AR_(1))to 12.6%(AR_(13)),and that biodegradable matter(BDM)decreased from 5.2%to 2.4%at the set aeration rate of 0.12 L O_(2)/kg waste(Dry Matter,DM)/day.A linear relationship between the degradation rate constant(K)of BDM and disposal age(x)was established:K=−0.0002193x+0.0091(R^(2)=0.854),suggesting that BDM might be a suitable indicator to reflect the stabilization of ARs.The cellulose/lignin ratio decrease rate for AR1(18.3%)was much higher than that for AR13(3.1%),while the corresponding humic-acid/fulvic-acid ratio increased from 1.44 to 2.16.The dominant bacteria shifted from Corynebacterium(9.2%),Acinetobacter(6.6%),and Fermentimonas(6.5%),genes related to the decompose of biodegradable organics,to Stenotrophomonas(10.2%)and Clostridiales(3.7%),which were associated with humification. The aeration efficiencies of lab-scale tests were in the range of 5.4–11.8 g BDM/L O_(2)for ARs with disposal ages of 1–13 years, and in situ landfill reclamation,ARs with disposal ages of 10–18 years were around 1.9–8.8 g BDM/L O_(2),as the disposal age decreased. The increased discrepancy was observed in ARs at the lab-scale and field scale, indicating that the forced aeration rate should be adjusted based on ARs and the unit compartment combined,to reduce the operation cost.Yihang Liu Chengqi Ning Qiujie Huang Zhaowen Cheng Weihua Cao Xianghui Wang Changfu Yang Hui Liu Jia Song Luochun Wang Ziyang Lou 2023Waste Disposal and Sustainable Energy2023,5,3:0
Simultaneously enhancing mechanical and tribological properties of carbon fiber composites by grafting SiC hexagonal nanopyramids for brake disk application显示文摘Extensive attention has been drawn to the development of carbon fiber composites for their application in brake disks due to the increasing demand for brake disks with high mechanical strength and better tribological properties.Herein,we design SiC hexagonal nanopyramids modified carbon/carbon(SiCNPsC/C)composites,in which SiCNPs are radially grafted on the carbon fibers by the combined sol-gel and carbothermal reduction method, and pyrolytic carbon(Py C)matrix is deposited on nucleation sites including carbon fibers and SiCNPs by isothermal chemical vapor infiltration(ICVI).Benefiting from the special structure,SiCNPs-C/C composites exhibit superior mechanical and frictional performance.Compared with C/C composites,SiCNPs-C/C composites have 147%,90.3%,70.6%,and 117.9%improvement in the hardness, interlaminar shear strength, and out-of-plane and in-plane compressive strength, respectively, which is attributed to the optimized fiber/matrix(F/M)interfaces bonding and the enhanced cohesion strength of Py C matrix. In addition, the friction coefficient of SiCNPs-C/C composites increases by 25.5%,and the wear rate decreases by 38.0%.This work provides an optional design thought for the nanomaterials and enlightens the mechanical and frictional modification of composites in the field of the brakes.Yao Guo Leilei Zhang Qiang Song Ruonan Zhang Fei Zhao Wei Li Hongchao Sheng Xianghui Hou Hejun Li 2022Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,26:0
