| 1 | Loss of scleraxis leads to distinct reduction of mineralized intermuscular bone in zebrafish显示文摘Intermuscular bones(IBs)are ossified from tendons and only occur in lower teleosts.Positive association between the regulation of scleraxis gene(scx)and tendon development gave us reasons to speculate that the scx gene may play a potential role in regulating the development of IBs.A phylogenetic analysis conducted for this study revealed potential functional differentiation between two scx orthologues,scxa and scxb.The scxa^(-/-) and scxb^(-/-) zebrafish were generated through CRISPR-Cas9 technology to study the role of scx in the IB and rib development.The results showed a significant reduction of the number of IBs in adult scxa-1^(-/-) zebrafish,with almost 70%reduction(15-25 IBs)compared to the wild type scxa-1^(+/+)zebrafish(76-80 IBs).In the scxa-1^(+/+)adults,IBs were observed in both dorsal and tail segments;however,in scxa-1^(-/-)fish IBs were observed only in the tail segment(none in the dorsal segment).Although scxa-1^(-/-) zebrafish had rib defects,the mutants were viable and fertile as adult fish.The scxb^(-/-) zebrafish had the same number of IBs and same skeletal phenotype as the wild-type fish.This suggests that only scxa has a crucial role in the IB development,and confirms functional differentiation of scx orthologues.To further clarify the molecular mechanism by which scxa affects the IB development,we conducted comparative transcriptome analysis of dorsal tissue samples of scxa-1^(+/+)(with IBs)and scxa-1^(-/-) (without IBs),and further verified the expression of key genes via qPCR.This is the first study to identify a gene that controls the amount of IBs in fish,and it provides a new sight into the effects of scxa on the molecular mechanism of IB development in fish. | Chunhong Nie Shiming Wan Yulong Chen Dejie Zhu Xudong Wang Xiaoru Dong Ze-Xia Gao | 2021 | Aquaculture and Fisheries2021,6,2: | 3 |
| 2 | Metro-Wordle:An Interactive Visualization for Urban Text Distributions Based on Wordle显示文摘With the development of cities and the explosion of infonnation,vast amounts of geo-tagged textural data about Points of Interests(POIs)have been generated.Extracting useful information and discovering text spatial distributions from the data are challenging and meaningful.Also,the huge numbers of POIs in modem cities make it important to have efficient approaches to retrieve and choose a destination.This paper provides a visual design combing metro map and wordles to meet the needs.In this visualization,metro lines serve as the divider lines splitting the city into several subareas and the boundaries to constrain wordles within each subarea.The wordles are generated from keywords extracted from the text about POIs(including reviews,descriptions,etc.)and embedded into the subareas based on their geographical locations.By generating intuitive results and providing an interactive visualization to support exploring text distribution patterns,our strategy can guide the users to explore urban spatial characteristics and retrieve a location efficiently.Finally,we implement a visual analysis of the restaurants data in Shanghai,China as a case study to evaluate our strategy. | Chenlu Li Xiaoju Dong Xiaoru Yuan | 2018 | Visual Informatics2018,2,1: | 2 |

| 4 | A robust polyacrylic acid/chitosan cryogel for rapid hemostasis显示文摘Currently,it is a challenge to develop hemostatic materials with high water absorption capacity and anti-fatigue properties for quickly preventing massive hemorrhage from arteries and visceral organs.A series of polyacrylic acid/chitosan(PAA/CS)cryogels were prepared by a cryostructurization technique to improve mechanical performance and hemostatic efficiency of chitosan(CS).In this system,the chemically cross-linked PAA network was used as a framework to improve water absorption behaviors and mechanical strength.The CS network was co-blended by hydrogen bonding and electrostatic interactions,both of which synergistically promoted hemostasis.These cryogels had high porosity(>94%),rapid water absorption rate(<3 s),high blood absorption capacity(>2000%),outstanding mechanical strength,and fatigue resistance.Moreover,the results of cytotoxicity and hemolysis demonstrated that the cryogels had good biocompatibility.Notably,the PAA/CS cryogels exhibited superior whole blood coagulation ability and red blood cell and platelet adhesion ability compared to those of commercial hemostatic dressing(gauze,gelatin sponges,and CS sponges).Based on these results,mouse femoral artery hemorrhage models and liver hemorrhage models were prepared to investigate the hemostatic ability of the prepared PAA/CS cryogels.Results suggested that the hemostatic ability of PAA5/CS cryogels was superior to that of commercial hemostatic materials.Therefore,the PAA/CS cryogels showed potential application in preventing massive hemorrhage from arteries and visceral organs. | SHI MingYue JIANG LiJie YU ChaoJie DONG XiaoRu YU QingYu YAO MengMeng HE ShaoShuai YUE ZhiWei YAO FangLian ZHANG Hong SUN Hong LI JunJie | 2022 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2022,65,5: | 1 |
| 5 | Tyramine-enhanced zwitterion hyaluronan hydrogel coating for anti-fouling and anti-thrombosis显示文摘Zwitterions have aroused much interest to endow implantable medical devices with anti-fouling and anti-thrombosis performance,due to their ability to form a hydrated layer that can provide a good barrier against protein and cell adhesion. Herein,tyramine modified sulfobetaine-derived sodium hyaluronan(HST) hydrogel coating was fabricated, in which hyaluronan(HA)was used as polysaccharide skeleton to graft zwitterionic sulfobetaine, and tyramine was introduced as crosslinker to construct both the network of hydrogel and a strong covalent bond between coating and substrate. Hydrogel coating was prepared by spin coating or painting HST prepolymer solution under ultraviolet light irradiation. The obtained HST hydrogel coating shows good stability. Moreover, in addition to its outstanding anti-fouling performance and good biocompatibility, it can effectively prevent thrombosis in blood circulation ex vivo. | 6 | Tip-induced bond weakening, tilting, and hopping of a single CO molecule on Cu(100)显示文摘The interaction between a probing tip and an adsorbed molecule can significantly impact the molecular chemical structure and even induce its motion on the surface.In this study,the tip-induced bond weakening,tilting,and hopping processes of a single molecule were investigated by sub-nanometre resolved tip-enhanced Raman spectroscopy(TERS).We used single carbon monoxide(CO)molecules adsorbed on the Cu(100)surface as a model system for the investigation.The vibrational frequency of the C−O stretching mode is always redshifted as the tip approaches,revealing the weakening of the C−O bond owing to tip−molecule interactions.Further analyses of both the vibrational Stark effect and TERS imaging patterns suggest a delicate tilting phenomenon of the adsorbed CO molecule on Cu(100),which eventually leads to lateral hopping of the molecule.While a tilting orientation is found toward the hollow site along the[110]direction of the Cu(100)surface,the hopping event is more likely to proceed via the bridge site to the nearest Cu neighbour along the[100]or[010]direction.Our results provide deep insights into the microscopic mechanisms of tip−molecule interactions and tip-induced molecular motions on surfaces at the single-bond level. | Xiaoru Dong Ben Yang Rui Zhu Ruipu Wang Yang Zhang Yao Zhang Zhenchao Dong | 2022 | Light(Advanced Manufacturing)2022,3,4: | 0 |
| 7 | Rotation Effect on Flow and Heat Transfer for High-Temperature Rotor Blade in a Heavy Gas Turbine显示文摘In this paper,the composite inner cooling structures of the rotating blade in the first stage heavy gas turbine were modeled and simulated by coupling heat transfer (CHT).The flow characteristics and heat transfer performances were comparatively analyzed under two operations of the stationary and the rotational states.The results show that the turbulence intensity,the flow resistance and the heat transfer level of the rotating coolant are significantly increased compared with the stationary state,which is considered to be obtained by the combined effects of the Coriolis force,the centrifugal force and their derived buoyancy forces.It is pointed out that the rotation leads to the non-uniform flow of film holes at the leading edge of the pressure surface along blade height.In addition,it increases the slope of the limiting streamline,which has a decisive influence on the heat transfer of both the pressure and suction surfaces.The paper provides guidance for the design of a rotating composite cooling structure based on the relations between the stationary and rotational conditions. | DONG Aihua YAN Peigang QIAN Xiaoru HAN Wanjin WANG Qingchao | 2021 | Journal of Thermal Science2021,30,2: | 0 |
| 8 | Effects of co-exposure to lead and manganese on learning and memory deficits显示文摘Lead(Pb) and manganese(Mn) are common neurotoxins. However, individuals are subject to co-exposures in real life, and it is therefore important to study these metals in combination. Weaning Sprague-Dawley rats were given ad libitum access to drinking water solutions containing Pb(100 mg/L), Mn(2.5 mg/m L) or a mixture, and each treatment had its own minocycline(50 mg/(kg·day)) supplement group. The results showed a significant difference in spatial memory and induction levels of hippocampal long-term potentiation(LTP) in all exposure groups when compared with controls. The combined-exposure group exhibited the most pronounced effect when compared with each of the single-metal exposure groups.Microglia displayed activation at day 3 after exposure alone or in combination, while astrocytes showed activation at day 5, accompanied by decreased expression levels of GLAST,GLT-1, and GS. Furthermore, the levels of glutamate in the synaptic cleft increased significantly. When microglial activation was inhibited by minocycline, the activation of astrocytes and the expression of GLAST, GLT-1, and GS were both reversed. In addition, upon minocycline treatment, hippocampal LTP impairment and cognitive injury were significantly alleviated in each of the exposure groups. These results suggest that combined exposure to Pb and Mn can cause greater effects on cognition and synaptic plasticity when compared to single-metal exposure groups.
