1Noble-metal-free dye-sensitized selective oxidation of methane to methanol with green light(550 nm)显示文摘Developing low-energy input route for conversion of methane(CH_(4))to value-added methanol(CH_(3)OH)at room temperature is important in environment and industry.Bonding in electron donor-acceptor hybrid can potentially promote charge transfer and photocatalytic efficiency of CH_(4) conversion.Herein,bonding in electron donor rhodamine B(RhB)-acceptor(TiO_(2))hybrid(RhB/TiO_(2))significantly promotes the selectivity of photocatalytic oxidation of CH4 to CH3OH and utilization of visible light(low-energy photons)at ambient condition.Even under green light irradiation(λ=550 nm),the noble-metal-free RhB/TiO_(2) hybrid synthesized presents enhanced oxidation of CH4 to CH_(3)OH with a generation rate of 143µmol·g^(−1)·h^(−1) and selectivity of 94%.This work demonstrates the possibility and feasibility of noble-metal-free catalysts for activating CH4 under visible light at room temperature.Xingyang Wu Yi Zeng Hangchen Liu Jiaqing Zhao Tierui Zhang Song Ling Wang 2021Nano Research2021,14,12:3
2Edge effect factor affecting the tribological properties in water of protrusion surface textures on stainless steel显示文摘Surface textures have been demonstrated to have a positive effect on the friction reduction.However,sharp edges of the normally textured patterns usually cause stress concentration and severe wear during sliding,especially for non-conformal contacting pairs.In this study,protrusion-type textures were fabricated at different area ratios on stainless steel discs and edge profiling was performed for the protrusions,and friction tests were conducted in water to investigate the tribological properties.The results show that the friction was reduced markedly by edge profiling due to the formation of wedge contact and im provement of lubricant supply to the contact interfaces under low load.Under high load,severe wear destroyed the wedge contact resulting in high friction as those of the normally textured pairs.High area ratio exhibited better friction reduction effect.The stress analysis via ANSYS indicated that much high stress concentrated at the edges of the protrusions and could be reduced significantly by edge profiling.Xingyang Wu Zhou Ge Haozhi Niu Jingjie Ruan Jianhua Zhang 2018Biosurface and Biotribology2018,4,2:1

4Simulation of Extreme Updrafts in the Tropical Cyclone Eyewall显示文摘Strong vertical motion(>10 m s-1)has profound implications for tropical cyclone(TC)structure changes and intensity.While extreme updrafts in the TC are occasionally observed in real TCs,the associated small-scale features remain unclear.Based on an analysis of the extreme eyewall updrafts in two numerical experiments conducted with the Advanced Research version of the Weather Research and Forecasting(WRF)model,in which the large-eddy simulation(LES)technique was used with the finest grid spacings of 37 and 111 m,for the first time this study demonstrates that the simulated extreme updrafts that occur mainly in the enhanced eyewall convection on the down-shear left side are comparable to available observations.The simulated extreme updraft exhibits relatively high frequencies in the lower(750 m),middle(6.5 km)and upper(13 km)troposphere,which are associated with different types of small-scale structures.While the lower-level extreme updraft is mainly related to the tornado-scale vortex,the extreme updraft at upper levels is closely associated with a pair of counter-rotating horizontal rolls oriented generally along the TC tangential flow,which are closely associated with the enhanced eyewall convection.The extreme updraft at middle levels is related to relatively complicated small-scale structures.The study suggests that extreme updrafts can be simulated when the grid spacing is about 100 m or less in the WRF-LES framework,although the simulated small-scale features need further verification in both observation and simulation.Yan ZHENG Liguang WU Haikun ZHAO Xingyang ZHOU Qingyuan LIU 2020Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2020,37,7:0
5Dicalcium silicate-induced mitochondrial dysfunction and autophagy-mediated macrophagic inflammation promotes osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs显示文摘Dicalcium silicate(Ca_(2)SiO_(4),C_(2)S)has osteogenic potential but induces macrophagic inflammation.Mitochondrial function plays a vital role in macrophage polarization and macrophagic inflammation.The mitochondrial function of C_(2)S-treated macrophages is still unclear.This study hypothesized:(i)the C_(2)S modulates mitochondrial function and autophagy in macrophages to regulate macro-phagic inflammation,and(ii)C_(2)S-induced macrophagic inflammation regulates osteogenesis.We used RAW264.7 cells as a model of macrophage.The C_(2)S(75–150μg/ml)extract was used to analyze the macrophagic mitochondrial function and macrophagemediated effect on osteogenic differentiation of mouse bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs).The results showed that C_(2)S extract(150μg/ml)induced TNF-α,IL-1βand IL-6 production in macrophages.C_(2)S extract(150μg/ml)enhanced reactive oxygen species level and intracellular calcium level but reduced mitochondrial membrane potential and ATP production.TEM images showed reduced mitochondrial abundance and altered the mitochondrial morphology in C_(2)S(150μg/ml)-treated macrophages.Protein level expression of PINK1,Parkin,Beclin1 and LC3 was upregulated but TOMM20 was downregulated.mRNA sequencing and KEGG analysis showed that C_(2)S-induced differentially expressed mRNAs in macrophages were mainly distributed in the essential signaling pathways involved in mitochondrial function and autophagy.The conditioned medium from C_(2)S-treated macrophage robustly promoted osteogenic differentiation in BMSCs.In conclusion,our results indicate mitochondrial dysfunction and autophagy as the possible mechanism of C_(2)S-induced macrophagic inflammation.The promotion of osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs by the C_(2)S-induced macrophagic inflammation suggests the potential application of C_(2)S in developing immunomodulatory bone grafts.Qianting Luo Xingyang Li Wenchao Zhong Wei Cao Mingjing Zhu Antong Wu Wanyi Chen Zhitong Ye Qiao Han Duraipandy Natarajan Janak L.Pathak Qingbin Zhang 2022Regenerative Biomaterials2022,9,1:0
6Azimuthal Variations of the Convective-scale Structure in a Simulated Tropical Cyclone Principal Rainband显示文摘Previous numerical simulations have focused mainly on the mesoscale structure of the principal rainband in tropical cyclones with a relatively coarse model resolution.In this study,the principal rainband was simulated in a semi-idealized experiment at a horizontal grid spacing of 1/9 km and its convective-scale structure was examined by comparing the convective elements of the simulated principal rainband with previous observational studies.It is found that the convective scale structure of the simulated principal rainband is well comparable to the observation.The azimuthal variations of the convective scale structure were examined by dividing the simulated principal rainband into the upwind,middle and downwind portions.Some new features are found in the simulated principal rainband.First,the overturning updraft contains small-scale rolls aligned along the inward side of the outward-leaning reflectivity tower in the middle portion.Second,the inner-edge downdraft is combined with a branch of inflow from the upper levels in middle and downwind portions,carrying upper-level dry air to the region between the overturning updrafts and eyewall,and the intrusion of the upper-level dry air further limits the altitude of the overturning updrafts in the middle and downwind portions of the principal rainband.Third,from the middle to downwind portions,the strength of the secondary horizontal wind maximum is gradually replaced by a low-level maximum of the tangential wind collocated with the low-level downdraft.Yue JIANG Liguang WU Haikun ZHAO Xingyang ZHOU Qingyuan LIU 2020Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2020,37,11:0
