| 1 | Infection with novel coronavirus(SARS-CoV-2)causes pneumonia in Rhesus macaques显示文摘The 2019 novel coronavirus(SARS-CoV-2)outbreak is a major challenge for public health.SARS-CoV-2 infection in human has a broad clinical spectrum ranging from mild to severe cases,with a mortality rate of^6.4%worldwide(based on World Health Organization daily situation report).However,the dynamics of viral infection,replication and shedding are poorly understood.Here,we show that Rhesus macaques are susceptible to the infection by SARS-CoV-2.After intratracheal inoculation,the first peak of viral RNA was observed in oropharyngeal swabs one day post infection(1 d.p.i.),mainly from the input of the inoculation,while the second peak occurred at 5 d.p.i.,which reflected on-site replication in the respiratory tract.Histopathological observation shows that SARS-CoV-2 infection can cause interstitial pneumonia in animals,characterized by hyperemia and edema,and infiltration of monocytes and lymphocytes in alveoli.We also identified SARS-CoV-2 RNA in respiratory tract tissues,including trachea,bronchus and lung;and viruses were also re-isolated from oropharyngeal swabs,bronchus and lung,respectively.Furthermore,we demonstrated that neutralizing antibodies generated from the primary infection could protect the Rhesus macaques from a second-round challenge by SARS-CoV-2.The non-human primate model that we established here provides a valuable platform to study SARS-CoV-2 pathogenesis and to evaluate candidate vaccines and therapeutics. | Chao Shan Yan-Feng Yao Xing-Lou Yang Yi-Wu Zhou Ge Gao Yun Peng Lian Yang Xue Hu Jin Xiong Ren-Di Jiang Hua-Jun Zhang Xiao-Xiao Gao Cheng Peng Juan Min Ying Chen Hao-Rui Si Jia Wu Peng Zhou Yan-Yi Wang Hong-Ping Wei Wei Pang Zheng-Fei Hu Long-Bao Lv Yong-Tang Zheng Zheng-Li Shi Zhi-Ming Yuan | 2020 | Cell Research2020,30,8: | 19 |
| 2 | Cyclooxygenase 2 polymorphism and colorectal cancer:-765G>C variant modifies risk associated with smoking and body mass index显示文摘AIM:To explore whether cyclooxygenase 2(COX-2) -765G>C polymorphism is associated with susceptibility of colorectal cancer(CRC)and to evaluate the risk of colorectal cancer in relation to environmental exposures and polymorphism. METHODS:We conducted a case-control study of 137 patients with colorectal cancer and 199 cancer- free controls in northeast China.Multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to calculate the adjusted odds ratio(OR)and 95% confidence interval (95%CI). RESULTS:The-765G>C polymorphism was not independently associated with CRC risk.However,risk associated with the polymorphism differed by smoking and body mass index(BMI).Smoking and BMI associated risks were stronger among those with-765GG genotype, showing that smokers had a 2.682-fold greater risk of CRC than nonsmokers(51/43 vs 68/126,P=0.006). Compared to those with a normal body mass index(BMI 18.5-22.9),those with overweight(BMI 23-24.9)had a 3.909-fold higher risk of CRC(OR=3.909,95% CI= 2.081-7.344;P<0.001),while those with obesity(BMI >25)had a 2.031-fold higher risk of CRC(OR=1.107, 95% CI=1.107-3.726;P=0.022). | 4 | Topographic differentiations of biological soil crusts and hydraulic properties in fixed sand dunes, Tengger Desert显示文摘Biological soil crusts(BSCs) play an important role in surface soil hydrology. Soils dominated with moss BSCs may have higher infiltration rates than those dominated with cyanobacteria or algal BSCs. However, it is unnown whether improved infiltration in moss BSCs is accompanied by an increase in soil hydraulic conductivity or water retention capacity. We investigated this question in the Tengger Desert, where a 43-year-old revegetation program has promoted the formation of two distinct types of BSCs along topographic positions, i.e. the moss-dominated BSCs on the interdune land and windward slopes of the fixed sand dunes, and the algal-dominated BSCs on the crest and leeward slopes. Soil water retention capacity and hydraulic conductivity were measured using an indoor evaporation method and a field infiltration method. And the results were fitted to the van Genuchten–Mualem model. Unsaturated hydraulic conductivities under greater water pressure(<–0.01 MPa) and water retention capacities in the entire pressure head range were higher for both crust types than for bare sand. However, saturated and unsaturated hydraulic conductivities in the near-saturation range(>–0.01 MPa) showed decreasing trends from bare sand to moss crusts and to algal crusts. | 6 | Matrix metalloproteinase-9-1562C>T polymorphism may increase the risk of lymphatic metastasis of colorectal cancer显示文摘AIM: To explore the role of the matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) polymorphism in colorectal cancer (CRC) in a northeast Chinese population. METHODS: Genotyping of MMP-9 -1562C>T and 279R>Q polymorphisms was carried out on blood samples from 137 colorectal cancer patients and 199 controls using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP). Multivariate logistic regression models were used to calculate adjusted odds ratios (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (95% CI). RESULTS: The distribution of MMP-9 -1562C>T and 279 R>Q genotype was not significantly associated with the risk of CRC. However, the risk of llymph node metastasis of CRC was increased in patients with the -1562T allele (OR = 2.601; 95% CI = 1.160-5.835; P = 0.022). The frequency of MMP-9 279RR + RQ genotype was higher than the QQ genotype among CRC patients younger than sixty years old (OR = 0.102; 95% CI = 0.013-0.812; P = 0.012). CONCLUSION: Our results indicated that the MMP-9-1562C>T polymorphism affects lymph node metastasis of CRC. | 7 | Emerging roles of non-coding RNAs in epigenetic regulation显示文摘Recent deep sequencing surveys of mammalian genomes have unexpectedly revealed pervasive and complex transcription and identified tens of thousands of RNA transcripts that do not code for proteins. These non-coding RNAs(nc RNAs) highlight the central role of RNA in gene regulation. nc RNAs are arbitrarily divided into two main groups: The first includes small RNAs, such as mi RNAs, pi RNAs, and endogenous si RNAs, that usually range from 20 to 30 nt, while the second group includes long non-coding RNAs(lnc RNAs), which are typically more than 200 nt in length. These nc RNAs were initially thought to merely regulate gene expression at the post-transcriptional level, but recent studies have indicated that nc RNAs, especially lnc RNAs, are extensively associated with diverse chromatin remodeling complexes and target them to specific genomic loci to alter DNA methylation or histone status. These findings suggest an emerging theme of nc RNAs in epigenetic regulation. | 9 | The Status and Associated Factors of Successful Aging among Older Adults Residing in Longevity Areas in China显示文摘Objective This study aims to assess the status of successful aging(SA) in longevity areas in China and explore multiple factors associated with SA among the young-old and oldest-old. Methods A total of 2296 elderly people aged 65 and older were interviewed in the longevity areas sub-sample of the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey(CLHLS) in 2012. Baseline assessments included a researcher-administered questionnaire, physical examination, and laboratory testing. A logistic regression model was used to identify factors associated with SA. Results The prevalence of SA was 38.81% in the CLHLS in 2012. There were significant differences between ages groups, with SA compromising 56.85% among ≥65 years group and 20.31% among ≥100 years group(χtrend2=126.73, P<0.01). The prevalence of SA among females was 33.59%, which was significantly lower than that among males(45.58%)(χ2gender=33.65, P<0.05). In the regression analysis, having anemia(OR=0.744, 95% CI: 0.609-0.910), poor lifestyle(OR=0.697, 95% CI: 0.568-0.854), poor sleep quality(OR=0.558, 95% CI: 0.456-0.682), and central obesity(OR=0.684, 95% CI: 0.556-0.841) were the main factors associated with SA. The promoting SA rate decreased as age increased, and the group of 65-79 years had higher odds than the other age group. | 11 | Value of lung ultrasound score for evaluation of blast lung injury in goats显示文摘Purpose:To establish a severe blast lung injury model of goats and investigate the feasibility of lung ultrasonic score in the evaluation of blast lung injury.Methods:Twenty female healthy goats were randomly divided into three groups by different driving pressures:4.0 MPa group(n=4),4.5 MPa group(n=12)and 5.0 MPa group(n=4).The severe blast lung injury model of goats was established using a BST-I bio-shock tube.Vital signs(respiration,heart rate and blood pressure),lung ultrasound score(LUS),PO2/FiO2 and extravascular lung water(EVLW)were measured before injury(0 h)and at 0.5 h,3 h,6 h,9 h,12 h after injury.Computed tomography scan was performed before injury(0 h)and at 12 h after injury for dynamic monitoring of blast lung injury and measurement of lung volume.The correlation of LUS with PaO2/FiO2,EVLW,and lung injury ratio(lesion volume/total lung volume*100%)was analyzed.All animals were sacrificed at 12 h after injury for gross observation of lung injury and histopathological examination.Statistical analysis was performed by the SPSS 22.0 software.The measurement data were expressed as mean±standard deviation.The means of two samples were compared using independent-sample t-test.Pearson correlation analysis was conducted.Results:(1)At 12 h after injury,the mortality of goats was 0,41.67% and 100%in the 4.0 Mpa,4.5 MPa and 5.0 MPa groups,respectively;the area of pulmonary hemorrhage was 20.00%±13.14% in the 4.0 Mpa group and 42.14%±15.33% in the 4.5 MPa group.A severe lung shock injury model was established under the driving pressure of 4.5 MPa.(2)The respiratory rate,heart rate,LUS and EVLW were significantly increased,while PaO2/FiO2 was significantly reduced immediately after injury,and then they gradually recovered and became stabilized at 3 h after injury.(3)LUS was positively correlated with EVLW(3 h:r=-0.597,6 h:r=-0.698,9 h:r=-0.729;p<0.05)and lung injury ratio(12 h:r=-0.884,p<0.05),negatively correlated with PaO2/FiO2(3 h:r=-0.871,6 h:r=-0.637,9 h:r=-0.658;p<0.05).Conclusion:We established a severe blast lung injury model of goats using the BST-I bio-shock tube under the driving pressure of 4.5 MPa and confirmed that ultrasound can be used for quick evaluation and dynamic monitoring of blast lung injury. | Yu-Qi Xue Chun-Shuang Wu Hua-Cai Zhang Juan Du Jian-Hui Sun An-Qiang Zhang Ling Zeng Mao Zhang Jian-Xin Jiang | 2020 | Chinese Journal of Traumatology2020,23,1: | 9 |
| 12 | Pathogen-inducible OsMPKKI 0.2-OsMPK6 cascade phosphorylates the Raf-like kinase OsEDRI and inhibits its scaffold function to promote rice disease resistance显示文摘Mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK)cascades regulate a myriad of plant biological processes,including disease resistance.Plant genomes encode a large number of MAPK kinase kinases(MAPKKKs)that can be divided into two subfamilies,namely MEKK-like kinases and Raf-like kinases.Thus far,the func-tions of MEKK-like MAPKKKs have been relatively well characterized,but the roles of Raf-like MAPKKKs in.plant MAPK cascades remain less understood.Here,we report the role of OsEDR1,a Raf-like MAPKKK,in the regulation of the MAPK cascade in rice response tp the bacterial pathogen Xanthomonas oryzae pv.oryzicola(Xoc).We found that OsEDR1 inhibits OsMPKK10.2(a MAPK kinase)activity through physical interaction.Upon Xoc infection,OsMPKK10.2 is phosphorylated at S304 to activate OsMPK6(a MAPK).Interestingly,activated OsMPK6 phosphorylates OsEDR1 at S861,which destabilizes OsEDR1 and thus releases the inhibition of OsMPKK10.2,leading to increased OsMPKK10.2 activity and enhanced resistance of rice plants to Xoc.Taken together,these results provide new insights into the functions of Raf-like ki-nases in the regulation of the MAPK cascade in plant immunity. | Haigang Ma Juan Li Ling Ma Peilun Wang Yuan Xue Ping Yin Jinghua Xiao Shiping Wang | 2021 | Molecular Plant2021,14,4: | 9 |

| 14 | The Low Energy X-ray telescope (LE) onboard the Insight-HXMT astronomy satellite显示文摘The Low Energy X-ray telescope(LE) is one of the three main instruments of the Insight-Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope(Insight-HXMT). It is equipped with Swept Charge Device(SCD) sensor arrays with a total geometrical area of 384 cm^2 and an energy band from 0.7 to 13 ke V. In order to evaluate the particle induced X-ray background and the cosmic X-ray background simultaneously, LE adopts collimators to define four types of Field Of Views(FOVs), i.e., 1.6°×6°, 4°×6°, 50°-60°×2°-6 oand the blocked ones which block the X-ray by an aluminum cover. LE is constituted of three detector boxes(LEDs) and an electric control box(LEB) and achieves a good energy resolution of 140 e V@5.9 ke V, an excellent time resolution of 0.98 ms, as well as an extremely low pileup(<1%@18000 cts/s). | 17 | Review of Chinese atmospheric science research over the past 70 years: Synoptic meteorology显示文摘Synoptic meteorology is a branch of meteorology that uses synoptic weather observations and charts for the diagnosis,study,and forecasting of weather.Weather refers to the specific state of the atmosphere near the Earth’s surface during a short period of time.The spatial distribution of meteorological elements in the atmosphere can be represented by a variety of transient weather phenomena,which are caused by weather systems of different spatial and temporal scales.Weather is closely related to people’s life,and its development and evolution have always been the focus of atmospheric scientific research and operation.The development of synoptic meteorology is closely related to the development of observation systems,dynamical theories and numerical models.In China,observation networks have been built since the early 1950 s.Up to now,a comprehensive meteorological observation systembased on ground,air and space has been established.In particular,the development of a new generation of dense radar networks,the development of the Fengyun satellite series and the implementation of a series of large field experiments have brought our understanding of weather from large-scale environment to thermal dynamics,cloud microphysical structure and evolution characteristics of meso and micro-scale weather systems.The development of observation has also promoted the development of theory,numerical model and simulation.In the early days,China mainly used foreign numerical models.Lately,China has developed numerical model systems with independent intellectual property rights.Based on the results of high-resolution numerical simulations,in-depth understanding of the initiation and evolution mechanism and predictability of weather at different scales has been obtained.Synoptic meteorology has gradually changed from an initially independent development to a multidisciplinary approach,and the interaction between weather and the change of climate and environment has become a hot and frontier topic in atmospheric science.This paper reviews the important scientific and technological achievements made in China over the past 70 years in the fields of synoptic meteorology based on the literatures in China and abroad,from six aspects respectively including atmospheric dynamics,synoptic-scale weather,typhoon and tropical weather,severe convective weather,numerical weather prediction and data assimilation,weather and climate,atmospheric physics and atmospheric environment. | Zhiyong MENG Fuqing ZHANG Dehai LUO Zhemin TAN Juan FANG Jianhua SUN Xueshun SHEN Yunji ZHANG Shuguang WANG Wei HAN Kun ZHAO Lei ZHU Yongyun HU Huiwen XUE Yaping MA Lijuan ZHANG Ji NIE Ruilin ZHOU Sa LI Hongjun LIU Yuning ZHU | 2019 | Science China Earth Sciences2019,62,12: | 7 |
| 18 | Epidemiology of urticaria in China:a population-based study显示文摘Background:Urticaria is a common skin disease characterized by episodes of wheals,and it has a negative effect on patients’quality of life.Large-scale population-based epidemiological studies of urticaria are scarce in China.The aim of this survey was to determine the prevalence,clinical forms,and risk factors of urticaria in the Chinese population.Methods:This survey was conducted in 35 cities from 31 provinces,autonomous regions,and municipalities of China.Two to three communities in each city were selected in this investigation.Participants completed questionnaires and received dermatological examinations.We analyzed the prevalence,clinical forms,and risk factors of urticaria.Results:In total,44,875 questionnaires were distributed and 41,041 valid questionnaires were collected(17,563 male and 23,478 female participants).The lifetime prevalence of urticaria was 7.30%,with 8.26%in female and 6.34%in male individuals(P<0.05).The point prevalence of urticaria was 0.75%,with 0.79%in female and 0.71%in male individuals(P<0.05).Concomitant angioedema was found in 6.16%of patients.Adults had a higher prevalence of urticaria than adolescents and children.Living in urban areas,exposure to pollutants,an anxious or depressed psychological status,a personal and family history of allergy,thyroid diseases,and Helicobacter pylori infection were associated with a higher prevalence of urticaria.Smoking was correlated with a reduced risk of urticaria.Conclusion:This study demonstrated that the lifetime prevalence of urticaria was 7.30%and the point prevalence was 0.75%in the Chinese population;women had a higher prevalence of urticaria than men.Various factors were correlated with urticaria. | Jiaqing Li Dandan Mao Shuoshuo Liu Ping Liu Jing Tian Chenhong Xue Xiaojing Liu Ruiqun Qi Bingxue Bai Jianjun Nie Siqi Ye Yu Wang Yuye Li Qing Sun Juan Tao Shuping Guo Hong Fang Jianqin Wang Qiri Mu Quanzhong Liu Yan Ding Jianzhong Zhang | 2022 | Chinese Medical Journal2022,,11: | 6 |
