| 1 | Insight-HXMT observations of the first binary neutron star merger GW170817显示文摘Finding the electromagnetic(EM) counterpart of binary compact star merger, especially the binary neutron star(BNS) merger,is critically important for gravitational wave(GW) astronomy, cosmology and fundamental physics. On Aug. 17, 2017,Advanced LIGO and Fermi/GBM independently triggered the first BNS merger, GW170817, and its high energy EM counterpart,GRB 170817 A, respectively, resulting in a global observation campaign covering gamma-ray, X-ray, UV, optical, IR, radio as well as neutrinos. The High Energy X-ray telescope(HE) onboard Insight-HXMT(Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope) is the unique high-energy gamma-ray telescope that monitored the entire GW localization area and especially the optical counterpart(SSS17 a/AT2017 gfo) with very large collection area(~1000 cm^2) and microsecond time resolution in 0.2-5 MeV. In addition,Insight-HXMT quickly implemented a Target of Opportunity(ToO) observation to scan the GW localization area for potential X-ray emission from the GW source. Although Insight-HXMT did not detect any significant high energy(0.2-5 MeV) radiation from GW170817, its observation helped to confirm the unexpected weak and soft nature of GRB 170817 A. Meanwhile,Insight-HXMT/HE provides one of the most stringent constraints(~10^(-7) to 10^(-6) erg/cm^2/s) for both GRB170817 A and any other possible precursor or extended emissions in 0.2-5 MeV, which help us to better understand the properties of EM radiation from this BNS merger. | 4 | Effects of Nitrogen Application Levels on Ammonia Volatilization and Nitrogen Utilization during Rice Growing Season显示文摘We conducted field trials of rice grown in sandy soil and clay soil to determine the effects of nitrogen application levels on the concentration of NH4+-N in surface water,loss of ammonia through volatilization from paddy fields,rice production,nitrogen-use efficiency,and nitrogen content in the soil profile.The concentration of NH4+-N in surface water and the amount of ammonia lost through volatilization increased with increasing nitrogen application level,and peaked at 1-3 d after nitrogen application.Less ammonia was lost via volatilization from clay soil than from sandy soil.The amounts of ammonia lost via volatilization after nitrogen application differed depending on the stage when it was applied,from the highest loss to the lowest:N application to promote tillering > the first N topdressing to promote panicle initiation(applied at the last 4-leaf stage) > basal fertilizer > the second N topdressing to promote panicle initiation(applied at the last 2-leaf stage).The total loss of ammonia via volatilization from clay soil was 10.49-87.06 kg/hm2,equivalent to 10.92%-21.76% of the nitrogen applied.The total loss of ammonia via volatilization from sandy soil was 11.32?102.43 kg/hm2,equivalent to 11.32%-25.61% of the nitrogen applied.The amount of ammonia lost via volatilization and the concentration of NH4+-N in surface water peaked simultaneously after nitrogen application;both showed maxima at the tillering stage with the ratio between them ranging from 23.76% to 33.65%.With the increase in nitrogen application level,rice production and nitrogen accumulation in plants increased,but nitrogen-use efficiency decreased.Rice production and nitrogen accumulation in plants were slightly higher in clay soil than in sandy soil.In the soil,the nitrogen content was the lowest at a depth of 40-50 cm.In any specific soil layer,the soil nitrogen content increased with increasing nitrogen application level,and the soil nitrogen content was higher in clay soil than in sandy soil.In terms of ammonia volatilization,the amount of ammonia lost via volatilization increased markedly when the nitrogen application level exceeded 250 kg/hm2 in the rice growing season.However,for rice production,a suitable nitrogen application level is approximately 300 kg/hm2.Therefore,taking the needs for high crop yields and environmental protection into account,the appropriate nitrogen application level was 250-300 kg/hm2 in these conditions. | LIN Zhong-cheng DAI Qi-gen YE Shi-chao WU Fu-guan JIA Yu-shu CHEN Jing-dou XU Lu-sheng ZHANG Hong-cheng Huo Zhong-yang Xu Ke WEt Hai-yan | 2012 | Rice science2012,19,2: | 9 |
| 5 | The effects of hydrodynamic conditions on geotechnical strength of the sediment in Yellow River Delta显示文摘Coastal structures in tidal estuaries are of scientific and societal interest as they form important artificial sea barriers resulting in different hydrodynamic conditions on both sides of them.A field study was performed on both sides of an embankment in the Yellow River Delta,China,in order to investigate the temporal and spatial variations in the geotechnical strength of the sediment caused by the effects of different hydrodynamic conditions.Using a portable core penetration tester together with hydrodynamic observation and fractal dimension analyses,changes in sediment strength were tested in 1999 and 2002 in rectangular areas on both sides of the embankment and along two cross-shore profiles.The field observations both on space and time scales suggest that different intensity in wave loading can not change the mean strength of the superficial sediment within 0-15cm depth,but rather makes it more uneven under strong hydrodynamic conditions,with the increasing degree of heterogeneity that can be quantitatively described by the fractal method.The effect of waves is regarded as the major control factor on the quasi-periodic alternation of sediment strength within the study area surface and the depth stratification in the Yellow River Delta.Further work is still necessary to determine the forming process,its mechanism and their implications for efficient environmental management,coastal protection and hazard forecasting. | JIA Yong-Gang LIU Xiao-Lei SHAN Hong-Xian ZHENG Jie-Wen HUO Su-Xia | 2011 | International Journal of Sediment Research2011,26,3: | 9 |
| 6 | MdATG18a overexpression improves basal thermotolerance in transgenic apple by decreasing damage to chloroplasts显示文摘High temperature is an abiotic stress factor that threatens plant growth and development.Autophagy in response to heat stress involves the selective removal of heat-induced protein complexes.Previously,we showed that a crucial autophagy protein from apple,MdATG18a,has a positive effect on drought tolerance.In the present study,we treated transgenic apple(Malus domestica)plants overexpressing MdATG18a with high temperature and found that autophagy protected them from heat stress.Overexpression of MdATG18a in apple enhanced antioxidase activity and contributed to the production of increased beneficial antioxidants under heat stress.Transgenic apple plants exhibited higher photosynthetic capacity,as shown by the rate of CO_(2) assimilation,the maximum photochemical efficiency of photosystem II(PSII),the effective quantum yield,and the electron transport rates in photosystems I and II(PSI and PSII,respectively).We also detected elevated autophagic activity and reduced damage to chloroplasts in transgenic plants compared to WT plants.In addition,the transcriptional activities of several HSP genes were increased in transgenic apple plants.In summary,we propose that autophagy plays a critical role in basal thermotolerance in apple,primarily through a combination of enhanced antioxidant activity and reduced chloroplast damage. | Liuqing Huo Xun Sun Zijian Guo Xin Jia Runmin Che Yiming Sun Yanfei Zhu Ping Wang Xiaoqing Gong Fengwang Ma | 2020 | Horticulture Research2020,7,1: | 9 |
| 7 | The Low Energy X-ray telescope (LE) onboard the Insight-HXMT astronomy satellite显示文摘The Low Energy X-ray telescope(LE) is one of the three main instruments of the Insight-Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope(Insight-HXMT). It is equipped with Swept Charge Device(SCD) sensor arrays with a total geometrical area of 384 cm^2 and an energy band from 0.7 to 13 ke V. In order to evaluate the particle induced X-ray background and the cosmic X-ray background simultaneously, LE adopts collimators to define four types of Field Of Views(FOVs), i.e., 1.6°×6°, 4°×6°, 50°-60°×2°-6 oand the blocked ones which block the X-ray by an aluminum cover. LE is constituted of three detector boxes(LEDs) and an electric control box(LEB) and achieves a good energy resolution of 140 e V@5.9 ke V, an excellent time resolution of 0.98 ms, as well as an extremely low pileup(<1%@18000 cts/s). | 9 | Antioxidant Effect of Human Selenium-containing Single-chain Fv in Rat Cardiac Myocytes显示文摘Reactive oxygen species(ROS) plays a key role in human heart diseases. Glutathione peroxidase(GPX) functions as an antioxidant as it catalyzes the reduction of hydroperoxide. In order to investigate the antioxidant effect of human selenium-containing single-chain Fv(Se-scFv-B3), a new mimic of GPX, a model system of hydrogen peroxide(H2O2)-induced rat cardiac myocyte damage was established. The cardiac myocyte damage was characterized in terms of cell viability, lipid peroxidation, cell membrane integrity, and intracellular H2O2 level. The Se-scFv-B3 significantly reduced H2O2-induced cell damage as shown by the increase of cell viability, the decline of malondialdehyde(MDA) production, lactate dehydrogenase(LDH) release, and intracellular H2O2 level. | 10 | Protective mechanism of testosterone on cognitive impairment in a rat model of Alzheimer's disease显示文摘Cognitive dysfunction in Alzheimer's disease is strongly associated with a reduction in synaptic plasticity, which may be induced by oxidative stress. Testosterone is beneficial in learning and memory, although the underlying protective mechanism of testosterone on cognitive performance remains unclear. This study explored the protective mechanism of a subcutaneous injection of 0.75 mg testosterone on cognitive dysfunction induced by bilateral injections of amyloid beta 1–42 oligomers into the lateral ventricles of male rats. Morris water maze test results demonstrated that testosterone treatment remarkably reduced escape latency and path length in Alzheimer's disease rat models. During probe trials, testosterone administration significantly elevated the percentage of time spent in the target quadrant and the number of platform crossings. However, flutamide, an androgen receptor antagonist, inhibited the protective effect of testosterone on cognitive performance in Alzheimer's disease rat models. Nissl staining, immunohistochemistry, western blot assay, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay results showed that the number of intact hippocampal pyramidal cells, the dendritic spine density in the hippocampal CA1 region, the immune response and expression level of postsynaptic density protein 95 in the hippocampus, and the activities of superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase were increased with testosterone treatment. In contrast, testosterone treatment reduced malondialdehyde levels. Flutamide inhibited the effects of testosterone on all of these indicators. | 12 | Dieldrin and endrin removal from water by trioleinembedded adsorbent显示文摘A novel triolein-embedded adsorbent for re-moval of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) from water was developed. In this paper, taking dieldrin and endrin as the target pollutants, different factors (temperature, ion strength, pH, and concentration of humic acid) that affect the adsorption rate were investigated. Adsorption isotherms of these two pollutants fitted to Freundlich model well identi-fied the partition mechanism between the adsorbent and water. However, the equilibrium constant of dieldrin was larger than that of endrin due to larger octanol-water coeffi-cient of dieldrin. Adsorption rate of dieldrin increased with the increase of temperature, the decrease of ion strength, pH and concentration of humic acid, whereas adsorption rate of endrin decreased with the increase of temperature and pH. Humic acid firstly increased, and then decreased the adsorp-tion rate of endrin. | 13 | MiR-205 mediated APC regulation contributes to pancreatic cancer cell proliferation显示文摘BACKGROUND Pancreatic cancer is a deadly malignancy with aggressive properties. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) participate in the pathogenesis of a variety of diseases and molecular processes by targeting functional mRNAs. Nevertheless, the regulatory role of miRNAs in signaling pathways involved in pancreatic cancer remains largely unknown. AIM To explore the molecular regulation involved in pancreatic cancer and potential mechanisms of miR-205. METHODS Microarray analysis was performed to investigate the expression profile of miRNAs in pancreatic cancer. Expression of miR-205 was validated by qRT-PCR. Target prediction and functional enrichment analysis were employed to seek potential target genes of miR-205 and potential functions of these genes. The target binding of miR-205 and adenomatous polyposis coli (APC) was validated by luciferase reporter assay. APC protein expression in pancreatic cancer was validated by qRT-PCR and Western blot. Proliferation was evaluated by MTT and colony formation assays. RESULTS A large number of miRNAs with altered expression were identified in pancreatic cancer. MiR-205 was significantly up-regulated. APC was found to be a validated target of miR-205 and down-regulated in pancreatic cancer. Proliferation experiments showed that miR-205 could promote cell proliferation in pancreatic cancer by targeting APC. | 15 | Rapid Identification of Legionella Pathogenicity by Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy显示文摘Objective To establish Surface-enhanced Raman Spectroscopy(SERS) can be used as a rapid and reliable method to distinguish virulent strain and mild strain of L. pneumophila. Methods We isolated and characterized of bacterial strains from ATCC and water samples strains, while we analyzed data from SERS technology using gold nanoparticles as a base and cell infections were employed to rapidly detect L. pneumophila strains. Origin 8.0 was used to collect Raman spectra, smooth and homogenize data, and to contrast spectra. Principal component analysis(PCA) was conducted to discriminate differences between groups using the multivariate analysis package Py Chem 3.0.5. Results Our results indicated that the peaks of high virulence strains reached ≥4000. This criterion was verified by subsequent cell experiments. In addition, we also conducted SERS rapid identification on the virulence of several collected clinical strains and obtained accurate results. | 16 | A comparison between acute large vessel occlusion in the posterior circulation and anterior circulation after endovascular treatment:the ANGEL-ACT registry experience显示文摘Background and purpose Endovascular treatment(EVT)has shown an overwhelming benefit for acute anterior circulation artery occlusion(ACO).Whether it can achieve the same outcomes in posterior circulation artery occlusion(PCO)has not been well explained.We aimed to evaluate the characteristics and prognosis of ACO and PCO after EVT in a nationwide registry.Method The present analysis was based on the prospective ANGEL-ACT Registry in China between November 2017 and March 2019.Demographic data,periprocedural times,recanalisation rate,intracranial haemorrhage(ICH)and 90-day functional outcomes were compared between the ACO and PCO groups.Results A total of 1793 patients were analysed including 397(22.1%)consecutive patients with PCO and 1396(77.9%)patients with ACO treated with EVT.A larger proportion of patients with PCO had intracranial atherosclerotic disease and received extra angioplasty during EVT.Successful recanalisation and 90-day favourable functional outcomes did not differ significantly between the two groups.Patients with PCO showed lower 24-hour ICH and symptomatic ICH rates.There was a trend towards higher mortality rate in the PCO group(22.09%vs 14.44%;adjusted OR 1.286(95%CI 0.820 to 2.017),p=0.2731),especially when the onset to puncture time was over 6 hours(30.77%vs 11.13%;adjusted OR 2.673(95%CI 1.280 to 5.583),p=0.0089,interactive p=0.0002).Conclusions In this large prospective multicentre registry,there was a significant difference in the characteristics and periprocedural features between patients with PCO and ACO.However,successful recanalisation and 90-day favourable functional outcomes in PCO were equivalent to those in ACO. | Xuan Sun Jingyu Zhang Xu Tong Baixue Jia Dapeng Mo Ning Ma Feng Gao Lian Liu Xiaochuan Huo Ligang Song Yiming Deng Zhongrong Miao | 2022 | Stroke & Vascular Neurology2022,7,4: | 4 |
| 17 | The Co_3O_4 nanosheet array as support for MoS_2 as highly efficient electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction显示文摘The electrochemical hydrogen evolution reaction(HER) on a non-precious electrocatalyst in an alkaline environment is of essential importance for future renewable energy. The design of advanced electrocatalysts for HER is the most important part to reduce the cost and to enhance the efficiency of water splitting. MoS_2 is considered as one of the most promising electrocatalysts to replace the precious Pt catalyst.Herein, for the first time, we have successfully loaded MoS_2 electrocatalysts onto the Co_3O_4 nanosheet array to catalyze HER with a low onset potential of ~76 mV.
