| 1 | The Origin and Tectonic Significance of the Volcanic Rocks of the Yeba Formation in the Gangdese Magmatic Belt, South Tibet显示文摘Zircon U-Pb geochronology, Hf isotope and whole-rock geochemistry were performed on the tuffs of the Yeba Formation in the Gangdese magmatic belt, South Tibet. The results are used to detail the age, source nature and tectonic processes that led to the formation of the Gangdese belt. Dating results indicate that the rhyolitic-andesitic tuffs were formed at 174–170 Ma. Positive and variable zircon ε_(Hf)(t) values of the rhyolitic tuffs reveal that the source was dominated by juvenile material, however, experienced crustal contamination. The basaltic tuffs have low HREEs, high contents of compatible elements(V and Cr) and no Eu anomaly. In contrast, the rhyolitic-andesitic tuffs show low compatible trace elements, depletion in Eu but enrichment in incompatible elements(Rb, Zr and Hf). According to the discrimination diagrams of P_2O_5-SiO_2 and Th-Rb, the rhyolitic-andesitic tuffs show a close affinity to Ⅰ-type granitoids. Moreover, these tuffs are marked by significant depletion in Nb, Ta and Ti, plotted in calc-alkaline field, and with the andesitic-rhyolitic tuffs falling into an active continental margin setting. | 2 | Neoproterozoic–Early Paleozoic Tectonic Evolution of the South China Craton: New Insights from the Polyphase Deformation in the Southwestern Jiangnan Orogen显示文摘A >1500–km–long northeast–southwest trending Neoproterozoic metamorphic belt in the South China Craton(SCC) consists of subduction mélange and extensional basin deposits. This belt is present under an unconformity of Devonian–Carboniferous sediments. Tectonic evolution of the Neoproterozoic rocks is crucial to determining the geology of the SCC and further influences the reconstruction of the Rodinia supercontinent. A subduction mélange unit enclosed ca.1000–850–Ma mafic blocks, which defined a Neoproterozoic ocean that existed within the SCC, is exposed at the bottom of the Jiangnan Orogen(JO) and experienced at least two phases deformation. Combined with new(detrital) zircon U–Pb ages from metasandstones, as well as igneous rocks within the metamorphic belt, we restrict the strongly deformed subduction mélange as younger than the minimum detrital age ca. 835 Ma and older than the ca. 815 Ma intruded granite. Unconformably overlying the subduction mélange and the intruded granite, an intra–continental rift basin developed <800 Ma that involved abundant mantle inputs, such as mafic dikes. This stratum only experienced one main phase deformation. According to our white mica ^(40)Ar/^(30)Ar data and previously documented thermochronology, both the Neoproterozoic mélange and younger strata were exhumed by a 490–400–Ma crustal–scale positive flower structure. This orogenic event probably induced the thick–skinned structures and was accompanied by crustal thickening, metamorphism and magmatism and led to the closure of the pre–existing rift basin. Integrating previously published data and our new results, we agree that the SCC was located on the periphery of the Rodinia supercontinent from the Neoproterozic until the Ordovician. | 3 | Detrital Zircon U-Pb Geochronologyof Sinian–Cambrian Strata in the Eastern Guangxi Area, China显示文摘The Eastern Guangxi area locates in the southwestern part of the transition zone between Yangtze and Cathaysia blocks, which is an important region because the boundary between two blocks probablycrosses there. We determined LA-ICPMS U-Pb ages for detrital zircons extracted from three sandstone samples in the Sinian-Cambrian strata in this region. The resulting ages are in the range of the Archeozoic and Neoproterozoic, with three notable concentrates at 991 Ma, 974 Ma, and 964 Ma, all of which are coeval to the Grenvillian magmatic activity. The new age distribution is similar to the data reported in the Precambrian strata of the adjacent southwestern Cathaysia Block, suggesting that most of our detrital zircons are likely derived from the Cathaysia Block. Combined with others' research, we are more inclined to accept the opinion that there was not an ocean basin between the two blocks during the Sinian-Cambrian period in Eastern Guangxi area if the timing of collision is the Early Neoproterzoic. But if the timing of collision is the Early Paleozoic, we conclude that Luzhai uplift(i.e., the uplift between Guilin-Yongfu faultand Lipu fault) beyond the west of Dayaoshan regoin might be one part of southwestern sedimentation boundary of Cathaysia Block and Yangtze Block. | 4 | Cost-Effective Control of Ground-Level Ozone Pollution in and around Beijing显示文摘Ground level ozone pollution has become a significant air pollution problem in Beijing. Because of the complex way in which ozone is formed, it is difficult for policy makers to identify optimal control options on a cost-effective basis. This paper identi-fies and assesses a range of options for addressing this problem. We apply the Ambient Least Cost Model and compare the eco-nomic costs of control options, then recommend the most effective sequence to realize pollution control at the lowest cost. The study finds that installing of Stage II gasoline vapor recovery system at Beijing's 1446 gasoline stations would be the most cost-effective option. | 16 | Late Triassic Intraoceanic Arc Aystem within Neotethys: Evidence from Cumulate Hornblende Gabbro in Gangdese Belt, South Tibet显示文摘The Neotethys plays an important role in shaping the Gangdese magmatic belt,southern Tibet.However,the initial time of spreading and subduction of the Neotethys remains contentious.In this study,a suite of late Triassic cumulate hornblende gabbro was identified in the southern margin of the Gangdese magmatic belt.The gabbro exhibits cumulate structure,with hornblende and plagioclase as the primary mineral phases.Isotopic data indicate a hydrous magma source derived from a depleted mantle wedge that has been modified by slab dehydration.Geochemical discriminations suggest that the gabbro was formed in an intraoceanic arc setting,with crystallization ages of ca.220-213 Ma.Hornblende,hornblendelagioclase and ilmenite thermometers reveal that the crystallization temperature of 900-750°C for the gabbro.Hornblende and hornblende-plagioclase geobarometers yield an emplacement depth at ca.14.5-19.5 km.This gabbro constitutes a line of evidence for an intraoceanic arc magmatism that is coeval with the counterparts in the southern Turkey,revealing an intraoceanic subduction system within the Neotethys from west to east in the Late Triassic and that the oceanization of the Neotethys was much earlier than previous expectation. | MA Xuxuan YI Zhiyu XU Zhiqin | 2017 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2017,91,S1: | 0 |
| 17 | Positioning the Southern Margin of Asia Prior to Its Collision with India: Paleomagnetic Constraints from Late Cretaceous Dykes in Gangdise Belt显示文摘The pre-collisional southern margin of Asia can be restored using paleomagnetic data from late Cretaceous rocks from the Lhasa terrane.However,the available data are based either on the red beds or on the intercalated thin layers of lava flows,both of which had been involved in strongly folding.Recent studies show clear evidence for the possibility of serious overprint hence the data could not be reliably used for tectonic interpretation.We report paleomagnetic data from diorite dykes and the grano-diorite country rock in the Gandise belt near the city of Lhasa.U–Pb isotopic dating indicates the intrusive rocks have an age of^82–86 Ma.Fifteen sites yield acceptable Ch RM directions which pass a reversal test.SEM and light microscope observations show primaryintergrowth relationship between magnetite and other minerals within the thin sections.AMS measurement defines a primary magma flow fabric for the intruded dykes and the country rocks.All the characteristics support that the Ch RMs are primary.The paleomagnetic pole calculated from the remanence of the dykes and the country rocks yields a paleolatitude of^14°N which provide a reliable constraint for the southern margin of Asia near Lhasa.Furthermore,the recorded declination shows significant counterclockwise rotation of^20°for the sampling location relative to the north.In consideration of the strike and tectonic setting of the dykes,the strike of the southern margin of Asia is restored which is compatible with the hypothesis of a quasi-linear margin of Eurasia prior to its collision with India. | YI Zhiyu MA Xuxuan | 2017 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2017,91,S1: | 0 |

| 19 | A Compilation of New and Existing Thermochronology Data Concerning the Lhasa Terrane Combined with a Geological Synthesis of the Area显示文摘The history and geodynamic mechanisms of Cenozoic exhumation and denudation of the Lhasa terrane(LT),southern Tibetan Plateau, remain poorly constrained. Most previous studies investigating the exhumation of the LT have relied on extrapolating interpretations based on a few well-studied but small areas, which inevitably introduce bias. Here,our compilation of new and published thermochronologic ages are plotted against latitude, longitude, and elevation, to illustrate the distribution of cooling ages across broad regions of the LT.
