| 1 | Prevalence of minimal hepatic encephalopathy and quality of life evaluations in hospitalized cirrhotic patients in China显示文摘AIM:To investigate the prevalence of minimal hepatic encephalopathy(MHE)and to assess corresponding health-related quality of life(HRQoL)in hospitalized cirrhotic patients in China.METHODS:This multi-center cross-sectional study included 16 teaching hospitals,which were members of 'Hepatobiliary Cooperation Group,Society of Gastroenterology,Chinese Medical Association',from different areas of China carried out between June and October in 2011.All the eligible hospitalized cirrhotic patients(n = 538)were required to complete triplicate number connection tests combined with one digit symbol test for diagnosing MHE.Patients' clinical examination data were complemented by a modified questionnaire assessing HRQoL.Written informed consent was obtained from each patient.RESULTS:Male was predominant(68.6%)in 519 patients who met the criteria of the study,with a mean age of 49.17 ± 11.02 years.The most common cause of liver cirrhosis was chronic hepatitis B(55.9%).The prevalence of MHE was 39.9% and varied by ChildPugh-Classification score(CPC-A:24.8%,CPC-B:39.4% and CPC-C:56.1%,P < 0.01).MHE(P < 0.01)and higher CPC scores(P < 0.01)were associated with a high HRQoL scores(reflecting poorer quality of life).The prevalence of MHE was proportionate to CPC(P = 0.01)and high quality of life scores(P = 0.01).CONCLUSION:Hospitalized cirrhotic patients have a high prevalence of MHE that is proportionate to the degree of liver function and HRQoL impairment. | Ji-Yao Wang Ning-Ping Zhang Bao-Rong Chi Yu-Qing Mi Li-Na Meng Ying-Di Liu Jiang-Bin Wang Hai-Xing Jiang Jin-Hui Yang Yun Xu Xiao Li Jian-Ming Xu Guo Zhang Xin-Min Zhou Yu-Zheng Zhuge De-An Tian Jin Ye Yu-Lan Liu | 2013 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2013，19，30： | 64 |

| 5 | Differential expression of serum miR-126,miR-141 and miR-21 as novel biomarkers for early detection of liver metastasis in colorectal cancer显示文摘Objective:MicroRNAs(miRNAs) have potential as diagnostic biomarkers in cancer.Evaluation of the association between miRNA expression patterns and early detection of liver metastasis in colorectal cancer(CRC) has not been reported.Methods:We investigated the expression of metastasis-associated miRs-31,335,206,141,126,200b,200c,21,Let7a,Let7b and Let7c in localized,liver-metastatic and other organ-metastatic CRC(OM-CRC).Expressions of target miRNAs in serum were evaluated in 116 consecutive localized CRC(L-CRC),72 synchronous liver-metastatic CRC(SLM-CRC) and 36 other OM-CRC by quantitative real-time PCR.Results:Seven of 11 tested miRNAs could be detected from serum.Four miRNAs,miR-126,Let-7a,miR-141 and miR-21 were identified as metastasis-associated miRNAs.Compared with L-CRC,significant upregulated expression was observed for miR-141 and miR-21 in SLM-CRC and OM-CRC,down-regulated expression was observed for miR-126 in SLM-CRC and OM-CRC,and up-regulated expression of Let-7a in OM-CRC.The receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curve showed serum miR-126 had a cut-off [log 10 relative quantity(log 10 RQ)=–0.2005] with 77.78% sensitivity and 68.97% specificity with an area under curve(AUC) of 0.7564,miR-141 had a cut-off(log 10 RQ=–0.2285) with 86.11% sensitivity and 76.11% specificity with an AUC of 0.8279,and miR-21 had a cut-off(log 10 RQ=–0.1310) with 73.61% sensitivity and 66.38% specificity with an AUC of 0.7479.Conclusions:We identified liver metastasis-associated miRNAs,suggesting serum miR-126,miR-141 and miR-21 may be novel biomarkers for clinical diagnosis of early stage liver-metastatic CRC. | Jie Yin Zhigang Bai Jianning Song Yun Yang Jin Wang Wei Han Jun Zhang Hua Meng Xuemei Ma Yao Yang Tingting Wang Weirong Li Zhongtao Zhang | 2014 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2014，26，1： | 22 |
| 6 | Overexpression of p27^(KIP1)induced cell cycle arrest in G_1 phase and subsequent apoptosis in HCC-9204 cell line显示文摘AIM We have previously reported that inducibleover-expression of Bak may prolong cell cycle inG1 phase and lead to apoptosis in HCC-9204 cells.This study is to investigate whether p27KIP1playsan important role in this process.METHODS In order to elucidate the exactfunction of p27KIP1in this process,a zinc induciblep27KIP1stable transfectant and transient p27KIP1-GFP fusion transfectant were constructed.Theeffects of inducible,p27KIP1on cell growth,cellcycle arrest and apoptosis were examined in themock,control pMD vector,and pMD-KIP1transfected HCC-9204 cells.RESULTS This p27KIP1-GFP transfectant maytransiently express the fusion gene.The cellgrowth was reduced by 35% at 48 h of p27KIP1induction with zinc treatment as determined bytrypan blue exclusion assay.These differencesremained the same after 72 h of p27KIP1expression,p27KIP1caused cell cycle arrest after24 h of induction,with 40% increase in G1population.Prolonged p27KIP1expression in thiscell line induced apoptotic cell death reflected byTUNEL assay.Fourty-eight h and 72 h of p27KIP1expression showed a characteristic DNA ladder onagarose gel electrophoresis. | 9 | Report on Childhood Obesity in China (10): Association of Sleep Duration with Obesity显示文摘Objectives To explore the association of sleep duration with obesity among children in urban areas of China.Methods A total of 6 576 children(3 293 boys and 3 283 girls) aged 7-11 years were randomly selected from 36 primary schools in 6 metropolitan cities in China.A 7-day Physical Activity Recall was used to assess the sleep duration and physical activity level.The height,weight,waist circumference(WC) and percentage of body fat(%BF,as determined by bioelectrical impedance analysis technique) were measured by following the standardized operation procedures.The information on demography,lifestyle and eating habits was collected with a self-administered questionnaire from participants and their parents.Results The average sleep duration per night in the children was 9.7 h with the decreasing trends along with the increase of age(P<0.05).The sleep duration was negatively associated with body mass index(BMI) and WC in both boys and girls after adjustment for confounders(β value-0.23 and-0.82 for boys,-0.24 and-0.91 for girls,respectively,P<0.01).However,no significant association of sleep duration with %BF was found.Children who slept less than 9.0 h per night had a higher risk for overweight and obesity(OR=1.29,95% CI:1.01,1.64) and abdominal obesity(OR=1.38,95% CI:1.04,1.83) as compared with those who slept for 10.0-10.9 h.Conclusions Short sleep duration is associated with obesity.It is important to ensure adequate sleep duration of children and foster their healthy lifestyle at an early stage of life. | MENG Li Ping LIUAi Ling HU Xiao Qi ZHANG Qian DU Song Ming FANG Hong Yun MA Jun XU Gui Fa LI Ying GUO Hong Wei DU Lin MA Guan Sheng | 2012 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2012，25，2： | 16 |
| 10 | Sirtuin 3 deficiency exacerbates diabetic cardiomyopathy via necroptosis enhancement and NLRP3 activation显示文摘Sirtuin 3(SIRT3)is a potential therapeutic target for cardiovascular,metabolic,and other aging-related diseases.In this study,we investigated the role of SIRT3 in diabetic cardiomyopathy(DCM).Mice were injected with streptozotocin(STZ,60 mg/kg,ip)to induce diabetes mellitus.Our proteomics analysis revealed that SIRT3 expression in the myocardium of diabetic mice was lower than that of control mice,as subsequently confirmed by real-time PCR and Western blotting.To explore the role of SIRT3 in DCM,SIRT3-knockout mice and 129S1/SvImJ wild-type mice were injected with STZ.We found that diabetic mice with SIRT3 deficiency exhibited aggravated cardiac dysfunction,increased lactate dehydrogenase(LDH)level in the serum,decreased adenosine triphosphate(ATP)level in the myocardium,exacerbated myocardial injury,and promoted myocardial reactive oxygen species(ROS)accumulation.Neonatal rat cardiomyocytes were transfected with SIRT3 siRNA,then exposed to high glucose(HG,25.5 mM).We found that downregulation of SIRT3 further increased LDH release,decreased ATP level,suppressed the mitochondrial membrane potential,and elevated oxidative stress in HG-treated cardiomyocytes.SIRT3 deficiency further raised expression of necroptosis-related proteins including receptor-interacting protein kinase 1(RIPK1),RIPK3,and cleaved caspase 3,and upregulated the expression of inflammation-related proteins including NLR family pyrin domain-containing protein 3(NLRP3),caspase 1 p20,and interleukin-1βboth in vitro and in vivo.Collectively,SIRT3 deficiency aggravated hyperglycemia-induced mitochondrial damage,increased ROS accumulation,promoted necroptosis,possibly activated the NLRP3 inflammasome,and ultimately exacerbated DCM in the mice.These results suggest that SIRT3 can be a molecular intervention target for the prevention and treatment of DCM. | Shu Song Yue Ding Guo-liang Dai Yue Zhang Meng-ting Xu Jie-ru Shen Ting-ting Chen Yun Chen Guo-liang Meng | 2021 | Acta Pharmacologica Sinica2021，42，2： | 14 |
| 11 | Chinese Medicine Sequential Therapy Improves Pregnancy Outcomes after Surgery for Endometriosis-Associated Infertility: A Multicenter Randomized Double-blind Placebo Parallel Controlled Clinical Trial显示文摘Objective:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Chinese medicine(CM)improving pregnancy outcomes after surgery for endometriosis-associated infertility.Methods:A multicenter,randomized,doubleblind placebo parallel controlled clinical trial was designed.A total of 202 patients who had laparoscopy for endometriosis-associated infertility with qi stagnation and blood stasis syndrome were included and randomly divided into the CM treatment group and placebo control group at a ratio of 1:1 using a central block randomization from May 2014 to September 2017,101 patients in each group.The two groups received continuous intervention at 1–5 days after surgery,for 6 menstrual cycles.Before ovulation,the CM group was treated Huoxue Xiaoyi Granule(活血消异颗粒);after ovulation,Bushen Zhuyun Granule(补肾助孕颗粒)was involved.The control group was treated with placebo.Transvaginal ultrasonography was performed every menstrual cycle during the treatment,and female hormone levels in the follicular and luteal phases were measured during the 1 st,3 rd and 6 th menstrual cycles.The analysis was continued until pregnancy.The primary outcomes were clinical pregnancy rate and pregnancy outcome,and the secondary outcomes were follicular development and endometrial receptivity.Safety evaluations were performed before and after treatment.Results:(1)Clinical pregnancy and live birth rates:the clinical pregnancy and live birth rates of the CM group were significantly higher than those of the placebo group[44.6%(45/101)vs.29.7%(30/101),34.7%(35/101)vs.20.8%(21/101),both P<0.05].(2)Follicle development:the incidence of dominant follicles,rate of cumulative cycle ovulation,and rate of cumulative cycle mature follicle ovulation were significantly higher in the CM group than those in the placebo group[93.8%(350/373)vs.89.5%(341/381),80.4%(275/342)vs.69.1%(253/366),65.8%(181/275)vs 56.1%(142/253),P<0.05 or P<0.01]).The incidence of cumulative cycle luteinized unruptured follicle syndrome was significantly lower in the CM group than in the placebo group[11.7%(40/342)vs.17.8%(65/366),P<0.05).(3)Endometrial receptivity:after treatment,both endometrial types and endometrial blood flow types in the CM group were mainly types A and B,while those in the placebo group were mainly types B and C,with a significant difference between the two groups(both P<0.05).(4)Adverse events:the incidence of adverse events between the two groups was not significantly different(P>0.05).Conclusion:Strategies for activating blood circulation-regulating Gan(Liver)-tonifying Shen(Kidney)sequential therapy can effectively improve the clinical pregnancy rate and live birth rate of endometriosis-associated infertility with qi stagnation and blood stasis after laparoscopy,improve follicular development,promote ovulation,improve endometrial receptivity,while being a safe treatment option.(Trial registration No.NCT02676713). | ZHAO Rui-hua LIU Yong LU Dan WU Ying WANG Xiao-yun LI Wei-li ZENG Cheng MENG Qing-wei LIAN Feng-mei ZHOU Jun SHI Yun SUN Wei-wei HAN Qian TANG Yi SHI Guang | 2020 | Chinese Journal of Integrative Medicine2020，26，2： | 13 |
| 12 | Efficacy of intra- tumor injection of Kang-Lai-Te in treating transplanted hepatoma in rats显示文摘BACKGROUND: Non-operative therapy takes an impor- tant position in comprehensive therapy of liver cancer. De- spite some effects by using ethanol, acetic acid and heat sa- line for intra-tumor injection in the treatment of liver canc- er, it is difficult to attain a complete cure but bring about injury to the liver to some extent. Hence, searching for other drugs for the local treatment of liver tumor is an im- portant option. This study was designed to set up rat mo- dels of transplanted liver cancer, intra-tumor injection of Kang-Lai-Te (KLT), and negative control (saline) and positive control (ethanol). The effect of intra-tumor injec- tion of KLT in treating transplanted hepatoma in rats and its advantages and disadvantages were assessed and the pos- sibility of its use in treating patients with liver cancer was evaluated. METHODS: Forty rats were divided into 4 groups ( G1, G2, G3 and G4, 10 rats in each group). Different drugs were injected into their implanted hepatoma (G1 with 0.2 ml saline as control, G2 with 10 mg KLT, G3 with 20 mg KLT, G4 with 0.2 ml ethanol). After 3 and 8 days, the hepa- toma volume (HV), the serum levels of albumin, alanine aminotransferase(ALT), aspartate aminotransferase alkaline phosphatase( ALP) and creatinine, as well as the expression of proliferation cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) in hepatoma were detected. RESULTS: After 3 days, the HVs were smaller in G3 and G4 than in G1 (P <0.05), the serum levels of albumin were higher in G2 and G3 than in Gl and G4 (P <0.05), the se- rum levels of ALT and AST were lower in G2 and G3 than in G4 (P<0.05), the serum levels of ALP was lower in G2 and G3 than in Gl and G4 (P <0. 05), the PCNA labeling indexes (PCNA LI) were lower in G2 and G3 than in Gl and GA (P <0.05). After 8 days, the HVs were smaller in G2, G3 and G4 than in Gl (P <0.05), and the differences of HVs among G2, G3 and G4 were not significant. The serum levels of ALP were lower in G1, G2 and G3 than in G4 (P <0.05), and the PCNA LI were lower in G3 than in Gl andG4 (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: Intra-tumor injection of KLT into implan- ted hepatoma is evidently effective, but it is less effective than ethanol. | 15 | Genetic Analysis of Cold Tolerance at Seedling Stage and Heat Tolerance at Anthesis in Rice (Oryza sativa L.)显示文摘A set of 240 introgression lines derived from the advanced backcross population of a cross between a japonica cultivar,Xiushui 09,and an indica breeding line,IR2061,was developed to dissect QTLs affecting cold tolerance (CT) at seedling stage and heat tolerance (HT) at anthesis.Survival rate of seedlings (SRS) and spikelet fertility (SF),the index traits of CT and HT,showed significant differences between the two parents under stresses.A total of four QTLs (qSRS1,qSRS7,qSRS11a and qSRS11b) for CT were identified on chromosomes 1,7,11,and the Xiushui 09 alleles increased SRS at all loci except qSRS7.Four QTLs for SF were identified on chromosomes 4,5,6,and 11.These QTLs could be classified into two major types based on their behaviors under normal and stress conditions.The first was QTL expressed only under normal condition;and the second QTL was apparently stress induced and only expressed under stress.Among them,two QTLs (qSF4 and qSF6) which reduced the trait difference between heat stress and normal conditions must have contributed to HT because of their obvious contribution to trait stability,and the IR2061 allele at the qSF6 and the Xiushui 09 allele at the qSF4 improved HT,respectively.No similar QTL was found between CT at seedling stage and HT at anthesis.Therefore,it is possible to breed a new variety with CT and HT by pyramiding the favorable CT-and HT-improved alleles at above loci from Xiushui 09 and IR2061,respectively,through marker-assisted selection (MAS). | CHENG Li-rui WANG Jun-min Veronica Uzokwe MENG Li-jun WANG Yun SUN Yong ZHU Linghua XU Jian-long LI Zhi-kang | 2012 | Journal of Integrative Agriculture2012，11，3： | 11 |

| 17 | Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi combined with exogenous calcium improves the growth of peanut(Arachis hypogaea L.)seedlings under continuous cropping显示文摘The growth and yield of peanut are negatively affected by continuous cropping.Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi(AMF)and calcium ions(Ca^(2+))have been used to improve stress resistance in other plants,but little is known about their roles in peanut seedling growth under continuous cropping.This study investigated the possible roles of the AMF Glomus mosseae combined with exogenous Ca^(2+)in improving the physiological responses of peanut seedlings under continuous cropping.G.mosseae combined with exogenous Ca^(2+)can enhance plant biomass,Ca^(2+)level,and total chlorophyll content.Under exogenous Ca^(2+)application,the F_v/F_m in arbuscular mycorrhizal(AM)plant leaves was higher than that in the control plants when they were exposed to high irradiance levels.The peroxidase,superoxide dismutase,and catalase activities in AM plant leaves also reached their maximums,and accordingly,the malondialdehyde content was the lowest compared to other treatments.Additionally,root activity,and content of total phenolics and flavonoids were significantly increased in AM plant roots treated by Ca^(2+)compared to either G.mosseae inoculation or Ca^(2+)treatment alone.Transcription levels of AhCaM,AhCDPK,AhRAM1,and AhRAM2 were significantly improved in AM plant roots under exogenous Ca^(2+)treatment.This implied that exogenous Ca^(2+)might be involved in the regulation of G.mosseae colonization of peanut plants,and in turn,AM symbiosis might activate the Ca^(2+)signal transduction pathway.The combination of AMF and Ca^(2+)benefitted plant growth and development under continuous cropping,suggesting that it is a promising method to cope with the stress caused by continuous cropping. | CUI Li GUO Feng ZHANG Jia-lei YANG Sha MENG Jing-jing GENG Yun WANG Quan LI Xin-guo WAN Shu-bo | 2019 | Journal of Integrative Agriculture2019，18，2： | 9 |
| 18 | uPAR promotes tumor-like biologic behaviors of fibroblast-like synoviocytes through PI3K/Akt signaling pathway in patients with rheumatoid arthritis显示文摘Urokinase-type plasminogen activator receptor(uPAR),is a multifunctional receptor on cell surface,widely present in endothelial cells,fibroblasts,and a variety of malignant cells.Current studies have suggested that uPAR overexpressed on synovial tissues or in synovial fluid or plasma in patients with rheumatoid arthritis(RA).However,there are limited researches regarding the role of uPAR on fibroblast-like synoviocytes of rheumatoid arthritis(RA-FLSs)and its underlying mechanisms.Here,our studies show that the expression of uPAR protein was significantly higher in fibroblast-like synoviocytes(FLSs)from RA than those from osteoarthritis or traumatic injury patients.uPAR gene silencing significantly inhibited RA-FLSs cell proliferation,restrained cell transformation from the G0/G1 phase to S phase,aggravated cell apoptosis,interfered with RA-FLSs cell migration and invasion,and reduced activation of the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway,which may be associated withβ1-integrin.Cell supernatants from uPAR gene-silenced RA-FLSs markedly inhibited the migration and tubule formation ability of the HUVECs(a human endothelial cell line).Therefore,we demonstrate that uPAR changes the biological characteristics of RA-FLSs,and affects neoangiogenesis of synovial tissues in patients with RA.All of these may be associated with theβ1-integrin/PI3K/Akt signaling pathway.These results imply that targeting uPAR and its downstream signal pathway may provide therapeutic effects in RA. | Yan Liu Yun Feng Pan You-qiu Xue Lin-kai Fang Xing-hua Guo Xin Guo Meng Liu Bi-yao Mo Meng-ru Yang Fang Liu Yun-ting Wu Nancy Olsen Song Guo Zheng | 2018 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2018，15，2： | 9 |
