| 1 | Endothelial cells-targeted soluble human Delta-like 4 suppresses both physiological and pathological ocular angiogenesis显示文摘Due to its essential roles in angiogenesis, Notch pathway has emerged as an attractive target for the treatment of pathologic angiogenesis. Although both activation and blockage of Notch signal can impede angiogenesis, activation of Notch signal may be more promising because it was shown that long-term Notch signal blockage resulted in vessel neoplasm. However, an in vivo deliverable Notch ligand with highly efficient Notch-activating capacity has not been developed. Among all the Notch ligands, Delta-like4(Dll4) is specifically involved in angiogenesis. In this study, we generated a novel soluble Notch ligand h D4 R, which consists of the Delta-Serrate-Lag-2 fragment of human Dll4 and an arginine-glycine-aspartate(RGD) motif targeting endothelial cells(ECs). We demonstrated that h D4 R could bind to ECs through its RGD motif and effectively triggered Notch signaling in ECs. Further, we confirmed that h D4 R could suppress angiogenesis in vitro as manifested by network formation assay and sprouting assay. More importantly, h D4 R efficiently repressed neonatal retinal angiogenesis and laser-induced choroidal neovascularization(CNV) as well in vivo. | 2 | Brominated dioxins and furans in a cement kiln co-processing municipal solid waste显示文摘A field study and theoretical calculations were performed to clarify the levels, profiles, and distributions of polybrominated dibenzo-p-dioxins and dibenzofurans(PBDD/Fs) in a cement kiln co-processing solid waste, with a focus on the PBDF formation mechanism.The raw materials contributed greatly to input of PBDD/Fs into the cement kiln. The PBDD/F concentrations in the raw materials were much higher than those in particle samples from different process stages in the cement kiln. The PBDD/F concentrations in the clinkers were1.40% of the concentrations in the raw materials, which indicated that the high destruction efficiencies for PBDD/Fs by cement kiln. PBDD/F distribution patterns in particle samples collected from different process stages indicated the cement kiln backend was a major site for PBDD/F formation. PBDFs with high levels of halogenation, such as heptabrominated furans(Hp BDF), were the dominant contributors to the total PBDD/F concentrations and accounted for 42%–73% of the total PBDD/F concentrations in the particle samples. Our results showed that co-processing of municipal solid waste in a cement kiln may influence the congener profile of PBDD/Fs, especially for the higher halogenated PBDD fraction. In addition, there were significant correlations between the decabromodiphenyl ether and heptabrominated furan concentrations, which is an indicator of transformation from polybrominated diphenyl ethers to PBDD/Fs. Theoretical calculations were performed and demonstrated that elimination of HBr and Br_2 from polybrominated diphenyl ethers were the dominant formation pathways for PBDD/Fs. | 3 | Characteristics of dust distributions and dust control measures around road-header drivers in mining excavation roadways显示文摘In the present study,a numerical simulation method was adopted in order to examine the characteristics of dust dispersion during continuous dust release periods(CRP)and stop dust release periods(SRP).The purpose was to analyze the dust distributions and migration actions around road-header drivers in excavation roadways,and then determine effective dust control measures for underground coal mines.This study’s simulation results showed that the dust concentrations continuously increased,and then gradually reached a stability level during the CRP.During that time,the locations of the drivers were always at the intersection of the original migration dust and the backflow dust,and the drivers were invaded by these two strands dust.However,during the SRP,the dust concentrations gradually decreased under the actions of the roadway ventilation.Besides,obvious backflow phenomena were observed around the road-header during the SRP.The locations of the drivers were still within the backflow paths of the high dust concentrations.At the present time,dust separation and extraction systems have been implemented in coal mines,including vacuuming and air knife devices,which are designed to control the dust around the road-header drivers.The field applications of these systems were conducted in the 26 mechanized excavation faces of the Zhangcun Coal Mine.The results revealed that the use of these dust removal systems could effectively reduce the dust concentrations around the road-header drivers.In the present study,the dust removal rates during the CRP and SRP were determined to reach up to 88.7% and 94.6%,respectively.Therefore,the results of this research study provided effective theoretical guidance of the characteristics of dust distributions in coal mines,and introduced effective control methods for the hazardous dust concentrations around road-header drivers during the excavation process. | Shengyong Hu Yang Gao Guorui Feng Yisheng Huang He Shaoa Qi Liao Fei Hu | 2021 | Particuology2021,19,5: | 4 |
| 4 | Polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and dibenzofurans (PCDD/Fs) emissions from electric arc furnaces for steelmaking显示文摘The proportion of steel produced using electric arc furnaces(EAFs)is increasing.In this study,polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and dibenzofurans(PCDD/Fs)concentrations and patterns in stack gas samples from three typical EAFs in steelmaking plants were determined to allow the contributions of EAFs in steelmaking plants to PCDD/Fs emissions in China to be assessed.Samples collection was accomplished by adopting the automatic isokinetic sampling technique,then the PCDD/Fs congeners concentrations were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively by isotope dilution high-resolution gas chromatography high-resolution mass spectrometry(HRGC-HRMS).The mean PCDD/Fs mass concentrations in stack gases emitted during the scrap preheating phase of plants E1,E2,and E3 were 0.48,385.55,and 0.34 ng Nm^-3,respectively,and the total toxic equivalent(WHO2005-TEQ)concentrations were 0.05,33.16,and 0.03 ng Nm^-3,respectively.The PCDD/Fs mass concentration in stack gases emitted during the melting phase at plant E3 was 0.12 ng Nm^-3(0.02 ng WHO2005-TEQ Nm^-3).The operational temperature of the bag filter of the preheating in the E2 EAF was as high as 230℃,which is conducive to the generation of PCDD/Fs,whether the temperature in the bag filter of E1(150℃)and E3(120℃)are not.Moreover,the bag filter temperature is suggested to be best controlled to below 150℃.The emission factors(EF)for PCDD/Fs released into the air during the scrap preheating phase for plants E1,E2,and E3 were 0.13,52,and 0.10 mg WHO2005-TEQ t1,respectively,and the EF for the smelting phase from plant E3 was 0.14 mg WHO2005-TEQ t1.The emission factor in E2 is 5 times higher than the highest current UNEP toolkit factor for EAFs(10 mg TEQ/tonne steel).Therefore,an update for the UNEP toolkit emission factor for a few case plants is suggested.Several congeners,including 2,3,7,8-TeCDF,1,2,3,4,6,7,8-HpCDF,and 1,2,3,4,6,7,8-HpCDD,were dominant during the preheating phase,while 2,3,7,8-TeCDF,1,2,3,7,8-PeCDF,and 2,3,4,7,8-PeCDF were dominant during the smelting phase.The monitoring data from the case plants helps to better understand the PCDD/Fs emissions of EAFs using preheating process stages.However,a more complete emission inventory requires more case investigations on the PCDD/Fs emissions from representative EAFs steelmaking plants. | Qiuting Yang Lili Yang Jia Shen Yuanping Yang Minxiang Wang Xiaoyun Liu Xuejing Shen Changliang Li Jia Xu Fengfeng Li Da Li Guorui Liu Minghui Zheng | 2020 | Emerging Contaminants2020,6,1: | 3 |
| 5 | Effects of Solvent Molecules on the Interlayer Spacing of Graphene Oxide显示文摘Graphene oxide(GO) contains numerous functional groups that facilitate the intercalation of polar solvents. The properties and applications of GO are closely related to its interlayer spacing. We report on the changes in the interlayer spacing of GO after the adsorption of water molecules and the polar organic solvents C_2H_6O_2(EG), C_3H_7NO(DMF), C_5H_9NO(NMP). Experiments were conducted to investigate the variations in the functional groups and structure of GO after solvent adsorption, and they play a vital role in modeling and verifying the results of molecular dynamics simulation. The most stable GO structures are obtained through molecular dynamics simulation. The expansion of the interlayer spacing of GO after the adsorption of monolayer solvent molecules corresponds to the minimum three-dimensional size of the solvent molecules. The spatial arrangement of solvent molecules also contributes to the changes in interlayer spacing. Most adsorbed molecules are oriented parallel to the carbon plane of GO. However, as additional molecules are adsorbed into the interlaminations of GO, the adsorbed molecules are oriented perpendicular to the carbon plane of GO, and a large space forms between two GO interlayers. | 6 | Post-PISA Education Reforms in China:Policy Response Beyond the Digital Governance of PISA显示文摘Purpose:This study analyzes the Programme for International Student Assessment(PISA)data,revealing that the test itself reflects China’s educational problems as well as the resultant effect of digital governance.Examining the root cause of these problems,this study demonstrates that the education reforms implemented in response to the PISA have gone beyond digital governance.Design/Approach/Methods:This study conducts a text analysis of materials related to China’s education system,including PISA data and analytical reports published by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development since 2009.Findings:Reflected by PISA data,the main problems facing China’s educational sector include the overburdening of students at school,emphasis on knowledge acquisition during the teaching process,and the prevalence of extracurricular tuition.The digital governance effect triggered by PISA is highly consistent with China’s constant and excessive pursuit of efficiency,emphasis on scores,and the rate of students entering higher level schools.In the new era,China actively reflected on the disadvantages of digital governance before implementing a series of education reforms that go beyond it.Originality/Value:This study is based on China’s cultural background and the latest contexts.It examines the impact of the large-scale international assessment on China’s education governance and discusses the impact of digital governance on the education reforms in other countries.The implementation of China’s post-PISA education reforms demonstrates that different countries can implement rational education reforms based on their own cultural traditions and social realities as well as by referencing and using PISA data with care and prudence. | Wenjie Yang Guorui Fan | 2019 | ECNU Review of Education2019,2,3: | 2 |
| 7 | The Arabidopsis pentatricopeptide repeat protein PDM1 is associated with the intergenic sequence of S11-rpoA for rpoA monocistronic RNA cleavage显示文摘The PDM1 gene encodes a pentatricopeptide repeat protein of the PLS subfamily.It is essential for rpoA polycistronic processing in Arabidopsis.In this study,we performed functional analysis of PDM1 in rpoA monocistronic cleavage and chloroplast development.The pdm1 mutants display an albino lethal phenotype with severe chloroplast development defects.When the construct of PDM1 fused with the GFP gene was introduced into Arabidopsis protoplasts,the GFP signal was exclusively observed in chloroplasts.This shows that PDM1 is localized to chloroplast.In the wild type,the rpoA transcript of about 990 nt is processed.In pdm1,this transcript is absent.However,Western blot showed that the RpoA protein in pdm1 is accumulated at a level approximately 1/3 of the wild type.This suggests that certain other transcripts processed from L23-L2-S19-L22-S3-L16-L14S8-L36-S11-rpoA polycistronic precursor may be used as templates for protein translation.To determine whether PDM1 can bind to the rpoA pre-mRNA,we generated a transgenic Arabidopsis line with PDM1 fused to FLAG tag that was capable of complementing the pdm1-1 mutant phenotype.RNA immunoprecipitation analysis showed that PDM1 is associated with S11-rpoA intergenic sequence.This indicates that PDM1 may bind to the S11-rpoA intergenic region to perform rpoA processing. | YIN QianQian CUI YongLan ZHANG GuoRui ZHANG HongDao WANG XiaoMeng YANG ZhongNan | 2012 | Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,26: | 2 |
| 8 | Small-scale waste incinerators in rural China:Potential risks of dioxin and polychlorinated naphthalene emissions显示文摘Rapid development has led to a tremendous increase in the volume of solid waste produced in rural China.The annual amount of solid waste produced from Chinese rural areas is approximately 110 million tons.Many small-scale solid waste incinerators have been built in Chinese rural areas.It was speculated that the emissions and potential risks of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and dibenzofurans(PCDD/Fs,commonly known as dioxins)and polychlorinated naphthalenes(PCNs)from these incinerators could be serious.A preliminary case investigation on PCDD/F and PCN emissions from a small-scale waste incinerator was performed.The stack gas samples were collected using auto isokinetic sampling techniques and PCDD/F and PCN congeners were identified and quantified by high resolution gas chromatography combined with high resolution mass spectrometry.Concentrations and toxic equivalents of PCDD/Fs emitted from the small-scale waste incinerator were 153 ngm^-3 and 5.6 ng TEQ m^-3,respectively,which was much higher than the regulatory level for municipal solid waste incinerators permitted in China and the European Union Directive.PCNs have similar toxicological effects with PCDD/Fs,and the relative potency factors(RPFs)of some PCN congeners(dioxin-like PCNs)to 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxin(TCDD)were previously proposed to evaluate the dioxin-like toxicity of PCNs.The mass concentrations of PCNs and dioxin-like PCNs from the small-scale solid incinerator were 2927 ngm^-3 and 1137 ngm^-3,much higher than that of dioxins.However,much less attention has been paid to the small-scale incinerators compared with municipal solid waste incinerators.Here,we proposed that there should be a growing need to focus on the emissions and potential risks of dioxins and dioxin-like pollutants from these small-scale waste incinerators in rural China. | Lili Yang Guorui Liu Qingqing Zhu Minghui Zheng | 2019 | Emerging Contaminants2019,5,1: | 1 |

| 11 | Superconductivity and strong spin-orbit coupling in a new noncentrosymmetric compound ThIrP显示文摘A new noncentrosymmetric phosphide ThIrP has been synthesized and characterized. X-ray difraction analysis shows that this compound crystallizes in a LaPtSi-type tetragonal lattice(space group I41md, Z = 4), whose lattice parameters are a = b =4.0676(1) ?, c = 14.3354(2) ?, and V = 237.191(8) ?3. Moreover, ThIrP is discovered to be an intermediately coupled,type-Ⅱ superconductor with possibly multiple gaps below Tc= 5.07 K. The upper critical magnetic field, Sommerfield coefficient, and Ginzburg-Laudau parameter are determined based on physical property measurements, which are Bc2= 0.83 T, γ =7.5 mJ mol-1 K-2, and κGL= 7.5, respectively. The electronic band structure calculations point out nearly equal contributions of Ir and Th atoms on the density of states around the Fermi surface. In addition, the spin-orbit coupling induced band splitting reaches as large as 270 meV along the Γ-Z line. | 15 | Hexachlorobutadiene emissions from typical chemical plants显示文摘Hexachlorobutadiene(HCBD)was classed as a persistent organic pollutant under the Stockholm Convention in 2015.HCBD is mainly an unintentionally produced by-product of chlorinated hydrocarbon(e.g.,trichloroethylene and tetrachloroethylene)synthesis.Few studies of HCBD formation during chemical production processes have been performed,so HCBD emissions from these potentially important sources are not understood.In this study,HCBD concentrations in raw materials,intermediate products,products,and bottom residues from chemical plants producing chlorobenzene,trichloroethylene,and tetrachloroethylene were determined.The results indicated that HCBD is unintentionally produced at much higher concentrations in trichloroethylene and tetrachloroethylene plants than chlorobenzene plants.The sum of the HCBD concentrations in the samples from all of the trichloroethylene and tetrachloroethylene production stages in plant PC was 247000µg/mL,about three orders of magnitude higher than the concentrations in the tetrachloroethylene production samples(plant PB)and about six orders of magnitude higher than the concentrations in the chlorobenzene production samples(plant PA).The HCBD concentrations were highest in bottom residues from all of the plants.The concentrations in the bottom residue samples contributed 24%–99%of the total HCBD formed in the chemical production plants.The bottom residue,being hazardous waste,could be disposed of by incineration.The HCBD concentrations were much higher in intermediate products than raw materials,indicating that HCBD formed during production of the intended chemicals.The results indicate the concentrations of HCBD unintentionally produced in typical chemical plants and will be useful in developing protocols for controlling HCBD emissions to meet the Stockholm Convention requirements. | Minxiang Wang Lili Yang Xiaoyun Liu Zheng Wang Guorui Liu Minghui Zheng | 2021 | Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2021,15,4: | 0 |
| 16 | Thermal Inertia of 330 MW Circulating Fluidized Bed Boiler during Load Change显示文摘The operating principles of Circulating Fluidized Bed(CFB)boilers involve a significant amount of heat accumulation,which forms the thermal inertia of the boiler and hinders the improvement of its variable load response rate.This study aims to characterize the thermal inertia of CFB boilers by evaluating the change in the boiler's heat accumulation corresponding to the change in unit power generation.The thermal inertia of a 330MW CFB boiler was determined through the collection of operating data under four different operating conditions of 30%,50%,75%,and 100%load.The study proposes to substitute the existing refractory material with a metal grille to reduce the thermal inertia of the boiler.The effect of the metal grille on heat transfer was confirmed through verification on a 440 t/h CFB boiler,and its performance change and thermal inertia reduction were further predicted.The results indicate that over 50%of the total thermal inertia of CFB boilers originates from the refractory material.The use of metal grille in place of refractory material improved heat transfer in the furnace,resulting in a decrease of the furnace chamber temperature by 13℃in the 330 MW CFB boiler.This reduction of thermal inertia by 30%-35%will facilitate faster load lifting and lowering of the boiler,fulfilling the requirement for flexible peaking. | SUN Guorui WU Haowen LIU Shangzhong LIU Tonghua LIU Jixiang YANG Hairui ZHANG Man | 2023 | Journal of Thermal Science2023,32,5: | 0 |
| 17 | Investigating the impacts of spatial-temporal variation features of air density on assessing wind power generation and its fluctuation in China显示文摘Air density plays an important role in assessing wind resource.Air density significantly fluctuates both spatially and temporally.But literature typically used standard air density or local annual average air density to assess wind resource.The present study investigates the estimation errors of the potential and fluctuation of wind resource caused by neglecting the spatial-temporal variation features of air density in China.The air density at 100 m height is accurately calculated by using air temperature,pressure,and humidity.The spatial-temporal variation features of air density are firstly analyzed.Then the wind power generation is modeled based on a 1.5 MW wind turbine model by using the actual air density,standard air densityρst,and local annual average air densityρsite,respectively.Usingρstoverestimates the annual wind energy production(AEP)in 93.6%of the study area.Humidity significantly affects AEP in central and southern China areas.In more than 75%of the study area,the winter to summer differences in AEP are underestimated,but the intra-day peak-valley differences and fluctuation rate of wind power are overestimated.Usingρsitesignificantly reduces the estimation error in AEP.But AEP is still overestimated(0-8.6%)in summer and underestimated(0-11.2%)in winter.Except for southwest China,it is hard to reduce the estimation errors of winter to summer differences in AEP by usingρsite.Usingρsitedistinctly reduces the estimation errors of intra-day peak-valley differences and fluctuation rate of wind power,but these estimation errors cannot be ignored as well.The impacts of air density on assessing wind resource are almost independent of the wind turbine types. | REN GuoRui WANG Wei WAN Jie HONG Feng YANG Ke YU DaRen | 2023 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2023,66,6: | 0 |

| 19 | Evaluating the effectiveness of using ClO_2 bleaching as substitution of traditional Cl_2 on PCDD/F reduction in a non-wood pulp and paper mill using reeds as raw materials显示文摘The effectiveness of ClO_2 bleaching as a replacement for conventional Cl_2 bleaching,which is intensively practiced in developing countries,to reduce polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and dibenzofurans(PCDD/Fs)in non-wood pulp and paper mills has not been field tested.The first field study was performed to investigate PCDD/F variations when ClO_2 bleaching was used as a substitute for conventional Cl_2 bleaching in a non-wood pulp and paper mill.It was found that the PCDD/F toxic equivalents(TEQs)in solid and effluent samples were approximately 1.3–14.9 times lower when ClO_2 bleaching was used instead of the conventional Cl_2 bleaching.2,3,7,8-Substituted tetrachlorinated dibenzofurans(2,3,7,8-TCDF)were the dominant contributors to total PCDD/F TEQs in samples from the investigated mill when using conventional Cl_2 bleaching.The formation amounts of 2,3,7,8-TCDF were reduced from 1.56–2.76 pg TEQ/g to 0.02–0.32 pg TEQ/g in solid samples when ClO_2 bleaching was used instead of the conventional Cl_2 bleaching.The replacement of Cl_2 with ClO_2 might decrease the chlorination reactions of dibenzofuran as potential precursors,and thus reduce the formation amounts of 2,3,7,8-TCDF.The results could provide important knowledge for suggesting the best available technique for PCDD/F reduction for non-wood pulp and paper mills in developing countries. | Lili Yang Liping Fang Linyan Huang Yuyang Zhao Guorui Liu | 2018 | Green Energy & Environment2018,3,3: | 0 |
