1Mode and modulation characteristics for microsquare lasers with a vertex output waveguide显示文摘The mode and high-speed modulation characteristics are investigated for a microsquare laser with a side length of 16 ?m and a 2-?m-wide output waveguide connected to one vertex. The longitudinal and transverse mode characteristics are analyzed by numerical simulation and light ray model, and compared with the lasing spectra for the microsquare laser. Up to the fifth transverse mode is observed clearly from the lasing spectra. Single mode operation with the side mode suppression ratio of 41 d B is realized at the injection current of 24 m A, and the maximum output power of 0.53(0.18) m W coupled into the multiple(single) mode fiber is obtained at the current of 35 m A, for the microsquare laser at the temperature of 288 K. Furthermore, a flat small-signal modulation response is reached with the 3-d B bandwidth of 16.2 GHz and the resonant peak of 3.6 d B at the bias current of 34 m A. 2Hybrid-cavity semiconductor lasers with a whispering-gallery cavity for controlling Q factor显示文摘Hybrid cavities composed of a Fabry-P′erot(FP) cavity and a whispering-gallery mode(WGM)microcavity have been proposed and demonstrated for modulating mode Q factor to realize single mode and optical bistable lasers. In this article, we report hybrid cavity lasers with a pentagon microcavity and a square microcavity, respectively. The reflectivity spectra of different microcavities are simulated to select microcavities for hybrid cavities. Mode coupling with mode Q factor enhancement is investigated numerically and experimentally. Stable single mode operations with a high coupling efficiency to a single mode fiber are realized for a hybrid cavity laser with a square microcavity. Furthermore, optical bistability hybrid lasers are investigated as the microcavity is unbiased, due to saturable absorption in the microcavity and mode competition, respectively. All-optical flip-flop is demonstrated using trigger optical pulses with a width of100 ps for mode competition bistability. 3Increasing high-temperature fatigue resistance of polysynthetic twinned TiAl single crystal by plastic strain delocalization显示文摘Polysynthetic twinned(PST)TiAl single crystal possesses great potentials for high-temperature applications due to its excellent combination of strength,ductility and creep resistance.However,a critical property for high-temperature application of such material involving high-temperature fatigue properties remains unknown.Here,the high-temperature high-cycle fatigue performance of PST TiAl single crystal has been studied.The result shows that PST TiAl single crystal can withstand more than 107 cyclic loadings at 975℃ under a stress amplitude of 270 MPa,which is significantly higher than traditional TiAl alloys.Experimental observations and atomistic simulations indicate that the improvement of fatigue resistance is attributed to the plastic strain delocalization in uniform lamellar structure,and the plastic deformation is well-distributed and sufficient in each lamella.Even in theα2 lamella with difficult slippage,a large number of stacking fault structures can be observed.The{c+a}dislocations inα2 tend to dissociate into a Frank partial with b=1/6<2^(-)20^(-)3>,forming a ribbon of I1 fault which ensures the continuity of deformation.Yang Chen Yuede Cao Zhixiang Qi Guang Chen 2021Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,34:2

6Global modes and coupled modes for integrated twin circular-side octagon microlasers显示文摘Whispering-gallery mode(WGM)microlasers are potential light sources for photonic integrated circuits and optical information processing.In this paper,an integrated twin circular-side octagon microlaser(TCOM)composed of two identical circular-side octagon microcavities(COMs)is proposed and demonstrated for realizing lasing mode control.In a TCOM,we found a global mode with the mode field of an'8'pattern(labeled'8'mode)in addition to weak coupling modes of traditional four-bounce modes.The'8'mode belongs to the whole coupled cavity and is insensitive to the refractive index offset of coupled COMs,but the weak coupling modes are strongly sensitive to the refractive index offset.Lasing mode transformation from multiple coupled modes to a single'8'mode is demonstrated by adjusting the refractive index offset through injection currents.Weak coupling modes for directly connected TCOMs and lasing mode control make the COM a potential unit for large-scale photonic integration and optical information processing.Ke YANG Yuede YANG Youzeng HAO Jiliang WU Yongtao HUANG Jiachen LIU Jinlong XIAO Yongzhen HUANG 2022Science China(Information Sciences)2022,65,2:0
7Hybrid AlGaInAs/Si Fabry–Pérot lasers with near-total mode confinements显示文摘We have proposed and demonstrated hybrid Al Ga In As/Si Fabry–Pérot(FP) lasers, with the FP cavity facet covered by the p-electrode metal for enhancing mode confinement. Continuous-wave lasing is obtained at room temperature with a threshold current of 45 m A for the hybrid FP laser with a cavity length of 415 μm and a width of 7 μm. Near-field optical microscope images indicate an efficient output emission from the underneath evanescently-coupled silicon waveguide. 8Mechanical behavior of TiAl alloys显示文摘Intermetallic TiAl alloys attract much attention in advanced engineering fields due to their low density(3.9–4.2 g/cm3) and excellent high-temperature properties. After more than half a century of research and development, TiAl alloys have found applications in aerospace, automotive, and related industries. However, as a kind of semi-brittle materials, intermetallic TiAl alloys exhibit different mechanical behavior from metallic and ceramic materials. Thus, it is necessary to systematically understand their mechanical behavior to ensure further developments and safe engineering applications. In this paper, the principal mechanical behavior of Ti Al alloys was reviewed comprehensively, including tension, creep, fatigue, and strengthening mechanisms. The mechanical performance and the corresponding deformation mechanisms are summarized and discussed in detail. 9Dynamic mechanical behavior, microstructure evolution, and restoration mechanism of a β‐Ti alloy during hot compression deformation显示文摘Metastable β titanium alloys are promising materials for lightweight and energy‐efficient applications due to their high strength and low density.Thermal-mechanical processing(TMP)is one of the most effective ways to improve the mechanical properties of such alloys.This paper describes a systematic TMP investigation on a new metastableβtitanium alloy,including its dynamic mechanical behavior,and microstructure evolution,via isothermal compression tests and electron back‐scattered diffraction characterizations.The results show that the compression stress increases with an increase in the strain rate and a decrease in the temperature.After yielding,the compression stress-strain pattern shows flow‐softening behavior at a low temperature and a high strain rate,while sustaining a steady flow state at a high temperature and a low strain rate.The temperature‐rise effect contributes to a large degree of flow softening at high strain rates.After the correction for temperature rise,the stress-strain constitutive relationships are established,showing that the compression behavior varies in different phase regions.Based on the microstructure characterizations,it is found that the dynamic recovery and dynamic recrystallization dominate the hot deformations inβphase region and at low strain rates,while the deformation band as an additional product is found inα+βphase region and at high strain rates.The results contribute to a better understanding of the TMP for the considered alloy and may also represent a useful database forβ‐Ti alloy applications in lightweight mechanical systems.Xi Pan Pei Li Yang Chen Zhixiang Qi Hao Xu Yuede Cao Yuan Lei Gong Zheng Guang Chen 2022International Journal of Mechanical System Dynamics2022,2,4:0

1110-GHz broadband optical frequency comb generation at 1550/1310 nm显示文摘The generation of high-repetition rate(frep≥10 GHz)ultra-broadband optical frequency combs(OFCs)at 1550 nm and 1310 nm is investigated by seeding two types of highly nonlinear fibers(HNLFs)with 10 GHz picosecond pulses at the pump wavelength of 1550 nm.When pumped near the zero dispersion wavelength(ZDW)in the normal dispersion region of a HNLF,10 GHz flat-topped OFC with 43 nm bandwidth within 5 dB power variation is generated by self-phase modulation(SPM)-based OFC spectral broadening at 26.5 dBm pump power,and 291 fs pulse trains with 10 GHz repetition rate are obtained at 18 dBm pump power without complicated pulse shaping methods.Furthermore,when pumped in the abnormal dispersion region of a HNLF,OFCs with dispersive waves around 1310 nm are studied using a common HNLF and fluorotellurite fibers,which maintain the good coherence of the pump light at 1550 nm.At the same time,sufficient tunability of the generated dispersive waves is achieved when tuning the pump power or ZDW.Junyuan Han Yali Huang Jiliang Wu Zhenrui Li Yuede Yang Jinlong Xiao Daming Zhang Guanshi Qin Yongzhen Huang 2020Opto-Electronic Advances2020,3,7:0
