1Antimony(V) removal from water by hydrated ferric oxides supported by calcite sand and polymeric anion exchanger显示文摘We fabricated and characterized two hybrid adsorbents originated from hydrated ferric oxides(HFOs) using a polymeric anion exchanger D201 and calcite as host. The resultant adsorbents(denoted as HFO-201 and IOCCS) were employed for Sb(V) removal from water. Increasing solution pH from 3 to 9 apparently weakened Sb(V) removal by both composites, while increasing temperature from 293 to 313 K only improved Sb(V) uptake by IOCCS. HFO-201 exhibited much higher capacity for Sb(V) than for IOCCS in the absence of other anions in solution. Increasing ionic strength from 0.01 to 0.1 mol/L NaNO3would result in a significant drop of the capacity of HFO-201 in the studied pH ranges; however, negligible effect was observed for IOCCS under similar conditions. Similarly, the competing chloride and sulfate pose more negative effect on Sb(V) adsorption by HFO-201 than by IOCCS, and the presence of silicate greatly decreased their adsorption simultaneously, while calcium ions were found to promote the adsorption of both adsorbents. XPS analysis further demonstrated that preferable Sb(V) adsorption by both hybrids was attributed to the inner sphere complexation of Sb(V) and HFO, and Ca(II) induced adsorption enhancement possibly resulted from the formation of HFO-Ca-Sb complexes. Column adsorption runs proved that Sb(V) in the synthetic water could be effectively removed from 30 μg/L to below 5 μg/L(the drinking water standard regulated by China), and the effective treatable volume of IOCCS was around 6 times as that of HFO-201, implying that HFO coatings onto calcite might be a more effective approach than immobilization inside D201.Yangyang Miao Feichao Han Bingcai Pan Yingjie Niu Guangze Nie Lu Lv 2014Journal of Environmental Sciences2014,26,2:20
2Function of note strings in Japanese Tit alarm calls to the Common Cuckoo:a playback experiment显示文摘Background: Birds produce alarm calls to convey information about threats. Some Passerine alarm calls consist of several note strings, but few studies have examined their function. Previous studies have shown that Japanese Tits(Parus minor) can alter the calling rate and number and combination of notes in response to predators. We previously found the combinations of note types in Japanese Tit alarm calls to be significantly different in response to the Sparrowhawk(Accipiter nisus) and Common Cuckoo(Cuculus canorus).Methods: Through playback experiments, we tested whether the note strings in Japanese Tit alarm calls to the Common Cuckoo have different functions in conveying information. The note strings of selected alarm calls were divided into the categories of C and D, and different calls were then constructed separately based on the two note string categories. Original alarm calls(C–D), C calls and D calls were played back to male Japanese Tits during the incubation period.Results: Male Japanese Tits had a significantly stronger response to C calls than to C–D calls, and they showed a significantly stronger response to both C and C–D calls than to D calls, suggesting that Japanese Tits discriminated between the C and D calls.Conclusions: Our study demonstrated that the C-and D-category note strings of Japanese Tit alarm calls to the Common Cuckoo have different functions, which supports the previous finding that different note strings in an alarm call can provide different information to receivers. 3Salvianolic acid A alleviates renal injury in systemic lupus erythematosus induced by pristane in BALB/c mice显示文摘The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of salvianolic acid A(SAA) in systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE) induced by pristane in BALB/c mice.Lupus mice were established by confirming elevated levels of autoantibodies and IL-6 after intraperitoneal injection of pristane.Mice were then treated with daily oral doses of SAA for 5 months in parallel with mice treated with prednisone and aspirin as positive controls.The levels of autoantibodies were monitored at monthly intervals and nephritic symptoms observed by hematoxylin and eosin(H&E) and periodic acid-Schiff(PAS) staining.Western blot analysis of renal tissue was also employed.SAA treatment caused a significant reduction in the levels of anti-Sm autoantibodies and reduced renal histopathological changes and pathological effects.SAA treatment also significantly inhibited the phosphorylation of IKK,IκB and NFκB in renal tissues of lupus mice.In conclusion,the results suggest that SAA alleviates renal injury in pristane-induced SLE in BALB/c mice through inhibition of phosphorylation of IKK,IκB and NFκB.Yihuang Lin Yu Yan Huifang Zhang Yucai Chen Yangyang He Shoubao Wang Lianhua Fang Yang Lv Guanhua Du 2017Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2017,7,2:8
4Kinetics and mechanisms of mitotic inheritance of DNA methylation and their roles in aging-associated methylome deterioration显示文摘Mitotic inheritance of the DNA methylome is a challenging task for the maintenance of cell identity.Whether DNA methylation pattern in different genomic contexts can all be faithfully maintained is an open question.A replication-coupled DNA methylation maintenance model was proposed decades ago,but some observations suggest that a replication-uncoupled maintenance mechanism exists.However,the capacity and the underlying molecular events of replication-uncoupled maintenance are unclear.By measuring maintenance kinetics at the single-molecule level and assessing mutant cells with perturbation of various mechanisms,we found that the kinetics of replication-coupled maintenance are governed by the UHRF1–Ligase 1 and PCNA–DNMT1 interactions,whereas nucleosome occupancy and the interaction between UHRF1 and methylated H3K9 specifically regulate replication-uncoupled maintenance.Surprisingly,replication-uncoupled maintenance is sufficiently robust to largely restore the methylome when replication-coupled maintenance is severely impaired.However,solo-WCGW sites and other CpG sites displaying aging-and cancer-associated hypomethylation exhibit low maintenance efficiency,suggesting that although quite robust,mitotic inheritance of methylation is imperfect and that this imperfection may contribute to selective hypomethylation during aging and tumorigenesis.Xuan Ming Zhuqiang Zhang Zhuoning Zou Cong Lv Qiang Dong Qixiang He Yangyang Yi Yingfeng Li Hailin Wang Bing Zhu 2020Cell Research2020,30,11:4
5Abundance and diversity of ammonia-oxidizing archaea in response to various habitats in Pearl River Delta of China, a subtropical maritime zone显示文摘Ammonia-oxidizing archaea(AOA) are widely considered key to ammonia oxidation in various environments.However,little work has been conducted to simultaneously investigate the abundance and diversity of AOA as well as correlations between archaeal amoA genotypes and environmental parameters of different ecosystems at one district.To understand the abundance,diversity,and distribution of AOA in Pearl River Delta of China in response to various habitats,the archaeal amoA genes in soil,marine,river,lake,hot spring and wastewater treatment plant(WWTP) samples were investigated using real-time fluorescent quantitative PCR and clone libraries.Our analyses indicated that the diversity of AOA in various habitats was different and could be clustered into five major clades,i.e.,estuary sediment,marine water/sediment,soil,hot spring and Cluster 1.Phylogenetic analyses revealed that the structure of AOA communities in similar ecological habitats exhibited strong relation.The canonical correspondence method indicated that the AOA community structure was strongly correlated to temperature,pH,total organic carbon,total nitrogen and dissolved oxygen variables.Assessing AOA amoA gene copy numbers,ranging from 6.84 × 106 to 9.45 × 107 copies/g in dry soil/sediment,and 6.06 × 106 to 2.41 × 107 copies/L in water samples,were higher than ammonia-oxidizing bacteria(AOB) by 1-2 orders of magnitude.However,AOA amoA copy numbers were much lower than AOB in WWTP activated sludge samples.Overall,these studies suggested that AOA may be a major contributor to ammonia oxidation in natural habitats but play a minor role in highly aerated activated sludge.The result also showed the ratio of AOA to AOB amoA gene abundance was positively correlated with temperature and less correlated with other environmental parameters.New data from our study provide increasing evidence for the relative abundance and diversity of ammonia-oxidizing archaea in the global nitrogen cycle.Zhixin Li Wenbiao Jin Zhaoyun Liang Yangyang Yue Junhong Lv 2013Journal of Environmental Sciences2013,25,6:3

7Spatial transcriptome analysis of long non-coding RNAs reveals tissue specificity and functional roles in cancer显示文摘Long non-coding RNAs(lncRNAs)play a significant role in maintaining tissue morphology and functions,and their precise regulatory effectiveness is closely related to expression patterns.However,the spatial expression patterns of lncRNAs in humans are poorly characterized.Here,we constructed five comprehensive transcriptomic atlases of human lncRNAs covering thousands of major tissue samples in normal and disease states.The lncRNA transcriptomes exhibited high consistency within the same tissues across resources,and even higher complexity in specialized tissues.Tissue-elevated(TE)lncRNAs were identified in each resource and robust TE lncRNAs were refined by integrative analysis.We detected 1 to 4684 robust TE lncRNAs across tissues;the highest number was in testis tissue,followed by brain tissue.Functional analyses of TE lncRNAs indicated important roles in corresponding tissue-related pathways.Moreover,we found that the expression features of robust TE lncRNAs made them be effective biomarkers to distinguish tissues;TE lncRNAs also tended to be associated with cancer,and exhibited differential expression or were correlated with patient survival.In summary,spatial classification of lncRNAs is the starting point for elucidating the function of lncRNAs in both maintenance of tissue morphology and progress of tissue-constricted diseases.Kang XU Xiyun JIN Ya LUO Haozhe ZOU Dezhong LV Liping WANG Limei FU Yangyang CAI Tingting SHAO Yongsheng LI Juan XU 2023Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2023,24,1:1
8Turning ZrTe_5 into a semiconductor through atom intercalation显示文摘In this study we successfully intercalated potassium(K) atoms into single ZrTe_5 crystals by liquid ammonia method, and found a semimetal-to-semiconductor transition at low temperatures in K-intercalated ZrTe_5. As the K concentration increased, the resistance anomalous peak was gradually suppressed until finally disappearing. Whilst, the corresponding Hall resistance measurements consistently showed a sign reversal. 10Ultrasound-visualized nanocarriers with siRNA for targeted inhibition of M2-like TAM polarization to enhance photothermal therapy in NSCLC显示文摘Photothermal therapy(PTT)has received a lot of attention as a promising strategy for eliminating tumors quickly.However,the unavoidable inflammatory response during the treatment might result in a high concentration of M2-like tumor-associated macrophages(TAMs),increasing the risk of tumor recurrence and metastasis.To address this problem,gold-based nanocarriers(PGMP-small interfering RNA(siRNA)nanoparticles(NPs))containing STAT6siRNA,that inhibited M2-like TAM polarization,were designed and investigated for PTT and gene therapy of non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC).In an NSCLC model,the nanocarriers demonstrated excellent siRNA delivery ability and a high gene transfection rate of up to 90%in macrophages,thus inhibiting the polarization of about 87%of M2-like TAMs and effectively suppressing the invasion and metastasis of NSCLC.Meanwhile,the unique gold nanosphere structure offered improved PTT and contrast-enhanced ultrasound imaging,thus contributing to the efficient elimination and real-time monitoring of the tumor tissues.These nanocarriers with combined gene and photothermal therapeutic capabilities improved the efficacy of single-modality treatment,and showed the potential to inhibit cancer cell recurrence and metastasis to ultimately cure NSCLC.Wenhao Lv Chen Xu Hao Wu Yangyang Zhu Ozioma Udochukwu Akakuru Hui Du Fang Nie Aiguo Wu Juan Li 2023Nano Research2023,16,1:0
11Targeting iron metabolism using gallium nanoparticles to suppress ferroptosis and effectively mitigate acute kidney injury显示文摘Ferroptosis plays a critical pathophysiological role in several types of acute kidney injury(AKI).The development of nanomaterials targeting iron metabolism and ferroptosis is a promising approach for AKI treatment.Herein,we synthesized gallic acid-gallium polyvinyl pyrrolidone nanoparticles(GGP NPs)as a potential iron-scavenging agent because of their nearly ionic radius and chemical similarity with iron.The results indicated that GGP NPs accumulated in tubular epithelial cells and showed good biocompatibility.GGP NPs significantly inhibited cisplatin(CP)-induced ferroptosis in HK-2 cells by reducing the accumulation of intracellular free iron and mitochondrial dysfunction,and suppressing the perturbations of ferroptosis processes,including lipid peroxidation,nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate(NADPH)and glutathione(GSH)levels,glutathione peroxidase 4(GPX4)activity,and ferritinophagy.An in vivo study demonstrated that treatment with GGP NPs significantly ameliorated the renal tubular injury and mitochondrial damage induced by CP treatment or ischemia-reperfusion injury.Our study suggests that GGP NPs may be an effective and promising candidate for AKI treatment and enable potential clinical translation.Xishao Xie Yunjing Zhang Xinwan Su Junni Wang Xi Yao Dou Lv Qin Zhou Jianhua Mao Jianghua Chen Fei Han Yangyang Li Weiqiang Lin 2022Nano Research2022,15,7:0
12Bilayer tellurene-metal interfaces显示文摘Tellurene, an emerging two-dimensional chain-like semiconductor, stands out for its high switch ratio, carrier mobility and excellent stability in air. Directly contacting the 2D semiconductor materials with metal electrodes is a feasible doping means to inject carriers. However, Schottky barrier often arises at the metal–semiconductors interface, impeding the transport of carriers. Herein, we investigate the interfacial properties of BL tellurene by contacting with various metals including graphene by using ab initio calculations and quantum transport simulations. Vertical Schottky barriers take place in Ag, Al, Au and Cu electrodes according to the maintenance of the noncontact tellurene layer band structure. Besides, a p-type vertical Schottky contact is formed due to the van der Waals interaction for graphene electrode. As for the lateral direction, p-type Schottky contacts take shape for bulk metal electrodes(hole Schottky barrier heights(SBHs) ranging from 0.19 to 0.35 eV). Strong Fermi level pinning takes place with a pinning factor of 0.02. Notably, a desirable p-type quasi-Ohmic contact is developed for graphene electrode with a hole SBH of 0.08 eV. 13Intrinsic superconducting transport properties of ultra-thin Fe_(1+y)Te_(0:6)Se_(0:4) microbridges显示文摘We investigated the superconducting properties of Fe_(1+y)Te_(0:6)Se_(0:4) single-crystalline microbridges with a width of 4 m and thicknesses ranging from 20.8 to 136.2 nm. The temperature-dependent in-plane resistance of the bridges exhibited a type of metalinsulator transition in the normal state. The critical current density(J_c) of the microbridge with a thickness of 136.2 nm was82.3 kA/cm^2 at 3K and reached 105 kA/cm^2 after extrapolation to T = 0 K. The current versus voltage characteristics of the microbridges showed a Josephson-like behavior with an obvious hysteresis. 14Genome-wide identification and expression analysis of the GhIQD gene family in upland cotton(Gossypium hirsutum L.)显示文摘Background:Calmodulin(CaM)is one of the most important Ca^(2+)signaling receptors because it regulates diverse physiological and biochemical reactions in plants.CaM functions by interacting with CaM-binding proteins(CaMBPs)to modulate Ca^(2+)signaling.IQ domain(IQD)proteins are plant-specific CaMBPs that bind to CaM by their specific CaM binding sites.Results:In this study,we identified 102 GhIQD genes in the Gossypium hirsutum L.genome.The GhIQD gene family was classified into four clusters(Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ,andⅣ),and we then mapped the GhIQD genes to the G.hirsutum L.chromosomes.Moreover,we found that 100 of the 102 GhIQD genes resulted from segmental duplication events,indicating that segmental duplication is the main force driving GhIQD gene expansion.Gene expression pattern analysis showed that a total of 89 GhIQD genes expressed in the elongation stage and second cell wall biosynthesis stage of the fiber cells,suggesting that GhIQD genes may contribute to fiber cell development in cotton.In addition,we found that 20 selected GhIQD genes were highly expressed in various tissues.Exogenous application of MeJA significantly enhanced the expression levels of GhIQD genes.Conclusions:Our study shows that GhIQD genes are involved in fiber cell development in cotton and are also widely induced by MeJA.Thw results provide bases to systematically characterize the evolution and biological functions of GhIQD genes,as well as clues to breed better cotton varieties in the future.DOU Lingling LV Limin KANG Yangyang TIAN Ruijie HUANG Deqing LI Jiayin LI Siyi LIU Fengping CAO Lingyan JIN Yuhua LIU Yang LI Huaizhu WANG Wenbo PANG Chaoyou SHANG Haihong ZOU Changsong SONG Guoli XIAO Guanghui 2021Journal of Cotton Research2021,4,1:0
15Activation of sulfite by metal-organic framework-derived cobalt nanoparticles for organic pollutants removal显示文摘Sulfite(SO_(3)^(2−))activation is one of the most potential sulfate-radical-based advanced oxidation processes,and the catalysts with high efficiency and low-cost are greatly desired.In this study,the cobalt nanoparticles embedded in nitrogen-doped graphite layers(Co@NC),were used to activate SO32−for removal of Methyl Orange in aqueous solution.The Co@NC catalysts were synthesized via pyrolysis of Co^(2+)-based metal-organic framework(Co-MOF),where CoO was firstly formed at 400℃ and then partially reduced to Co nanoparticles embedded in carbon layers at 800℃.The Co@NC catalysts were more active than other cobaltbased catalysts such as Co^(2+),Co_(3)O_(4) and CoFe_(2)O_(4),due to the synergistic effect of metallic Co and CoxOy.A series of chain reaction between Co species and dissolved oxygen was established,with the production and transformation of SO_(3)•−,SO_(5)^(2−),and subsequent active radicals SO_(4)•−and HO•.In addition,HCO_(3)−was found to play a key role in the reaction by complexing with Co species on the surface of the catalysts.The results provide a new promising strategy by using the Co@NC catalyst for SO3_(2)−oxidation to promote organic pollutants degradation.Xianjie Feng Deming Wu Xueyi Shen Yu Guo Yangyang Lv Aihua Xu Xiaoxia Li 2023Journal of Environmental Sciences2023,,2:0
16Fabrication of Al/AlO_x/Al Josephson junctions on silicon and sapphire substrates using a cold-development technique显示文摘In order to obtain high-quality superconducting qubits, we employed a cold-development technique, using temperatures down to-20°C, to fabricate Al/AlOx/Al Josephson junctions. Cold development greatly reduced the sensitivity of the electron-beam resist to the developer, eliminated molecules of the electron-beam resist at trench edges, and improved the repeatability and reliability of the nanopatterning process. The fabricated samples have well-defined geometries and increased dose margins, with lateral sizes of 100 nm×100 nm on both silicon and sapphire substrates.
