| 1 | Synthesis of Porous NiO Nanocrystals with Controllable Surface Area and Their Application as Supercapacitor Electrodes显示文摘We report a facile way to grow various porous NiO nanostructures including nanoslices,nanoplates,and nanocolumns,which show a structure-dependence in their specific charge capacitances.The formation of controllable porosity is due to the dehydration and re-crystallization of β-Ni(OH)_(2) nanoplates synthesized by a hydrothermal process.Thermogravimetric analysis shows that the decomposition temperature of the β-Ni(OH)_(2) nanostructures is related to their morphology.In electrochemical tests,the porous NiO nanostructures show stable cycling performance with retention of specific capacitance over 1000 cycles.Interestingly,the formation of nanocolumns by the stacking of β-Ni(OH)_(2) nanoslices/plates favors the creation of small pores in the NiO nanocrystals obtained after annealing,and the surface area is over five times larger than that of NiO nanoslices and nanoplates.Consequently,the specific capacitance of the porous NiO nanocolumns(390 F/g)is significantly higher than that of the nanoslices(176 F/g)or nanoplates(285 F/g)at a discharge current of 5 A/g.This approach provides a clear illustration of the process-structure-property relationship in nanocrystal synthesis and potentially offers strategies to enhance the performance of supercapacitor electrodes. | Xiaojun Zhang Wenhui Shi Jixin Zhu Weiyun Zhao Jan Ma Subodh Mhaisalkar Tuti Lim Maria Yanhui Yang Hua Zhang Huey Hoon Hng Qingyu Yan | 2010 | Nano Research2010,3,9: | 24 |

| 3 | Using Fuzzy Theory and Variable Weights for Water Quality Evaluation in Poyang Lake, China显示文摘Achieving water purity in Poyang Lake has become a major concern in recent years, thus appropriate evaluation of spatial and temporal water quality variations has become essential. Variations in 11 water quality parameters from 15 sampling sites in Poyang Lake were investigated from 2009 to 2012. An integrative fuzzy variable evaluation(IFVE) model based on fuzzy theory and variable weights was developed to measure variations in water quality. Results showed that: 1) only chlorophyll-a concentration and Secchi depth differed significantly among the 15 sampling sites(P < 0.01), whereas the 11 water quality parameters under investigation differed significantly throughout the seasons(P < 0.01). The annual variations of all water quality variables except for temperature, electrical conductivity, suspended solids and total phosphorus were considerable(P < 0.05). 2) The IFVE model was reasonable and flexible in evaluating water quality status and any possible ′bucket effect′. The model fully considered the influences of extremely poor indices on overall water quality. 3) A spatial analysis indicated that anthropogenic activities(particularly industrial sewage and dredging) and lake bed topography might directly affect water quality in Poyang Lake. | 5 | PD-L1 is a direct target of cancer-FOXP3 in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC),and combined immunotherapy with antibodies against PD-L1 and CCL5 is effective in the treatment of PDAC显示文摘High expression of PD-L1 marks the poor prognosis of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas(PDAC).However,the regulatory mechanism of PD-L1 remains elusive.We recently reported that cancer Forkhead box protein 3(Cancer-FOXP3 or C-FOXP3)promoted immune evasion of PDAC by recruiting Treg cells into PDAC via upregulation of CCL5.In this study,we confirmed that PD-L1 was overexpressed in PDAC samples from two independent cohorts of patients with radical resection.Moreover,C-FOXP3 was colocalized and correlated with the expression of PD-L1 in tumor cells at the mRNA and protein levels,and this finding was confirmed by the The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA)database.Chromatin immunoprecipitation(ChIP)revealed that C-FOXP3 directly bound to the promoter region of PD-L1 in pancreatic cancer cells.Furthermore,overexpression of C-FOXP3 activated the luciferase reporter gene under the control of the PD-L1 promoter.However,mutation of the binding motif-a completely reversed the luciferase activity.In addition,C-FOXP3-induced upregulation of PD-L1 effectively inhibited the activity of CD8+T cells.Based on our recent finding that the CCL-5 antibody achieved a better response to PDAC models with high C-FOXP3 levels,we further demonstrated that the PD-L1 antibody strengthened the antitumor effect of CCL-5 blockade in xenograft and orthotopic mouse models with high C-FOXP3 levels.In conclusion,C-FOXP3 directly activates PD-L1 and represents a core transcription factor that mediates the immune escape of PDAC.Combined blockade of PD-L1 and CCL-5 may provide an effective therapy for patients with PDAC that have high C-FOXP3 levels. | Xiuchao Wang Xin Li Xunbin Wei Haiping Jiang Chungen Lan Shengyu Yang Han Wang Yanhui Yang Caijuan Tian Zanmei Xu Jiangyan Zhang Jihui Hao He Ren | 2020 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2020,5,1: | 11 |

| 7 | Observation and study on the whole process of cloud-to-ground lightning using narrowband radio interferometer显示文摘A narrowband radio interferometer has been developed and used to locate the entire sources of VHF radiations from a negative cloud-to-ground (CG) lightning discharge which contains 19 strokes. This system uses five antennas to form an array consisting of short- and long-baselines along two or- thogonal directions. The system error which comes from frequency conversion is reduced by phase detection through direct high frequency amplifying. An interactive graphic analysis procedure is used to remove the fringe ambiguities which exist inherently in interferometry and to determine the direction of lightning radiation sources in two dimensions (azimuth and elevation) as a function of time at a time resolution of microsecond orders. With the developed system, the whole progression process in time and space of a lightning flash can be reconstructed. In this paper, combining the synchronous data of electric filed change and VHF radiation, the whole processes of an example negative CG flash have been studied in detail. It is found that the preliminary breakdown event of the CG flash started from negative charge region and exhibited firstly a downward pregression and then an upward propagation. There were very intense and continuous radiations during stepped leaders which became much stronger when the first return stroke began. In contrast, there were less and only discrete radiations during dart leaders. Stepped leader and dart leader may transform to each other depending on the state of the ionization of the path. The progression speed of initial stepped leaders was about 105 ms?1, while that was about 4.1×106 and 6.0×106 ms?1 for dart leaders and dart-stepped leaders, respectively. M events produced hook-shaped field changes accompanied by active burst of radiations at their begin- nings. Followed these active radiation processes, M events appeared to contact finally into conducting main discharge channels. The mean progression speed of M events was about 7×107 ms?1, greater than that of the dart leaders and dart-step leaders. | 12 | Variations in stem radii of Larix principis-rupprechtii to environmental factors at two slope locations in the Liupan Mountains,northwest China显示文摘Relationships between stem growth and climatic and edaphic factors,notably air temperatures and soil moisture for different slopes,are not completely understood.Stem radial variations were monitored at the bottom and top slope positions in a Larix principis-rupprechtii plantation during the 2017 and 2018 growing seasons.Total precipitation during the growing season in 2017 and 2018 was 566 mm and 728 mm,respectively.Stem contractions typically occurred after mid-morning followed by swelling in the late afternoon in both plots,reflecting the diurnal cycle of water uptake and loss.Trees at the two locations showed the same growth initiation(mid-May)because of the small differences in air and soil temperatures.There were no significant differences in cumulative stem radial growth between the bottom plot(1.57±0.34 mm)and the top plot(1.55±0.26 mm)in 2018.However,in 2017,the main growth period of the bottom plot ceased 17 days earlier than in the top plot,while cumulative seasonal growth of the bottom plot(1.08±0.25 mm)was significantly less than the top plot(1.54±0.43 mm).Maximum daily stem shrinkage was positively correlated with air and soil temperatures,solar radiation,vapor pressure deficits,and negatively correlated with volumetric soil moisture content.The maximum daily shrinkage reflected transpiration rates as affected by environmental factors.Daily radial stem increment was correlated with precipitation and volumetric soil moisture in both years,but with air temperatures only in 2017.The seasonal growth of L.principis-rupprechtii Mayr thus shows interannual dynamics,while precipitation constitutes a key driving factor. | Jing Ma Jianbin Guo Yanhui Wang Zebin Liu Di Gao Liu Hong Ziyou Zhang | 2021 | Journal of Forestry Research2021,32,2: | 6 |

| 14 | QTL mapping in A-genome diploid Asiatic cotton and their congruence analysis with AD-genome tetraploid cotton in genus Gossypium显示文摘Asiatic cotton(Gossypium arboreum L.) is an Old World cultivated cotton species.The sinense race was planted extensively in China.Due to the advances in spinning technology during the last century,the species was replaced by the New World allotetraploid cotton G.hirsutum L.Gossypium arboreum is still grown in India and Pakistan and also used as an elite in current cotton breeding programs.In addition,G.arboreum serves as a model for genomic research in Gossypium.In the present study,we generated an A-genome diploid cotton intraspecific genetic map including 264 SSR loci with three morphological markers mapped to 13 linkage groups.The map spans 2,508.71 cM with an average distance of 9.4 cM between adjacent loci.A population containing 176 F2:3 families was used to perform quantitative trait loci(QTL) mapping for 17 phenotypes using Multiple QTL Model(MQM) of MapQTL ver 5.0.Overall,108 QTLs were detected on 13 chromosomes.Thirty-one QTLs for yield and its components were detected in the F2 population.Forty-one QTLs for yield and its components were detected in the F2:3 families with a total of 43 QTLs for fiber qualities.Two QTLs for seed cotton weight/plant and lint index and three QTLs for seed index were consistently detected both in F2 and F2:3.Most QTLs for fiber qualities and yields were located at the same interval or neighboring intervals.These results indicated that the negative correlation between fiber qualities and yield traits may result from either pleiotropic effect of one gene or linkage effects of multiple closely linked genes. | Xuexia Ma Yezhang Ding Baoliang Zhou Wangzhen Guo Yanhui Lv Xiefei Zhu Tianzhen Zhang | 2008 | Journal of Genetics and Genomics2008,35,12: | 5 |

| 16 | Large-Scale Discovery of Non-conventional Peptides in Maize and Arabidopsis through an Integrated Peptidogenomic Pipeline显示文摘Non-conventional peptides(NCPs),which include small open reading frame-encoded peptides,play critical roles in fundamental biological processes.In this study,we developed an integrated peptidogenomic pipeline using high-throughput mass spectra to probe a customized six-frame translation database and applied it to large-scale identification of NCPs in plants.A total of 1993 and 1860 NCPs were unambiguously identified in maize and Arabidopsis,respectively.These NCPs showed distinct characteristics compared with conventional peptides and were derived from introns,3′UTRs,5′UTRs,junctions,and intergenic regions.Furthermore,our results showed that translation events in unannotated transcripts occur more broadly than previously thought.In addition,we found that dozens of maize NCPs are enriched within regions associated with phenotypic variations and domestication selection,indicating that they potentially are involved in genetic regulation of complex traits and domestication in maize.Taken together,our study developed an integrated peptidogenomic pipeline for large-scale identification of NCPs in plants,which would facilitate global characterization of NCPs from other plants.The identification of large-scale NCPs in both monocot(maize)and dicot(Arabidopsis)plants indicates that a large portion of plant genome can be translated into biologically functional molecules,which has important implications for functional genomic studies. | Shunxi Wang Lei Tian Haijun Liu Xiang Li Jinghua Zhang Xueyan Chen Xingmeng Jia Xu Zheng Shubiao Wu Yanhui Chen Jianbing Yan Liuji Wu | 2020 | Molecular Plant2020,13,7: | 4 |
| 17 | Deep origin of Cenozoic volcanoes in Northeast China revealed by 3-D electrical structure显示文摘The three-dimensional(3-D)electrical structure of the upper-mantle was used to examine the deep origins of and relationship among the Cenozoic volcanoes located in Northeast China(NEC).High-quality,long-period magnetotelluric(LMT)full-impedance tensor data were collected in NEC and subjected to 3-D Gauss-Newton inversion in order to construct a resistivity model.The resulting model reveals the presence of multiple localized low-resistivity anomalies(LRAs)within the high resistivity lithosphere beneath NEC.These LRAs partially coincide with Cenozoic volcanoes on the surface.Three LRAs that form a larger,annular LRA were observed in the deep upper mantle beneath the Songliao Basin,whereas vein-like LRAs were found in the asthenosphere that connect the lithosphere and deep upper mantle.Petrophysical analyses suggest that the LRAs may have been caused by fluid-induced melting.Based on our electrical model,we propose that,following dehydration of the subducted Western Pacific slab into the mantle transition zone(MTZ)beneath NEC,the released water migrated upward and caused partial melting at the top of the MTZ beneath the Songliao Basin.Under the effect of buoyancy,the melted mantle formed a thermal upwelling that caused melting of asthenosphere before diapiring at the base of the dry lithosphere.The magma then penetrated structural boundaries(such as thinner,weaker,or activated suture zones)and finally reached the Earth's surface.This melting and upwelling of hot mantle materials may have resulted in large-scale volcanism in the region throughout the Cenozoic,including the eruption of Changbai Mountain and Halaha Volcanoes.Our results suggest that the Cenozoic NEC volcanoes may all share a similar mode of genesis,and probably originated from the annular LRA in the deep upper mantle. | Shiwen LI Aihua WENG Jianping LI Xuanlong SHAN Jiangtao HAN Yu TANG Yanhui ZHANG Xueqiu WANG | 2020 | Science China Earth Sciences2020,63,4: | 4 |
| 18 | Origins and pathways of the subsurface and intermediate water masses of the Indonesian Throughflow derived from historical and Argo data显示文摘On the basis of Argo data and historic temperature/salinity data from the World Ocean Database 2001(WOD01),origins and spreading pathways of the subsurface and intermediate water masses in the Indonesian Throughflow(ITF)region were discussed by analyzing distributions of salinity on representative isopycnal layers.Results were shown that,subsurface water mostly comes from the North Pacific Ocean while the intermediate water originates from both the North and South Pacific Ocean,even possibly from the Indian Ocean.Spreading through the Sulawesi Sea,the Makassar Strait,and the Flores Sea,the North Pacific subsurface water and the North Pacific Intermediate water dominate the western part of the Indonesian Archipelago.Furthermore as the depth increases,the features of the North Pacific sourced water masses become more obvious.In the eastern part of the waters,high salinity South Pacific subsurface water is blocked by a strong salinity front between Halmahera and New Guinea.Intermediate water in the eastern interior region owns salinity higher than the North Pacific intermediate water and the antarctic intermediate water(AAIW),possibly coming from the vertical mixing between subsurface water and the AAIW from the Pacific Ocean,and possibly coming from the northward extending of the AAIW from the Indian Ocean as well. | ZHANG Yanhui YU Xiaolin WANG Fan | 2008 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2008,27,4: | 4 |

To accurately predict the heat exchange in the furnace, modeling of the complex gas energy-balance equation in volume zones was considered, and the heat transfer model of heating slabs and wall lines was coupled with the radiative heat transfer model to identify the surface zonal temperature. With numerical simulation, the temperature fields of gas, slabs, and wall lines in the furnace under one typical working condition were carefully accounted and analyzed. | 20 | Expression of hippocampal corticosteroid receptors,as well as corticotrophin-releasing hormone and vasopressin in the hypothalamic paraventricular nucleus,in fornix transected rats显示文摘BACKGROUND:The hippocampus regulates the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis through negative feedback.The hypothalamic paraventricular nucleus receives neuronal input from the hippocampus via the fornix. OBJECTIVE:To explore whether the negative feedback effect of the hippocampus on the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis is contributed to the inhibitory effect of mineralocorticoid receptor (MR) and glucocorticoid receptor(GR) in the hippocampus on the paraventricular nucleus via the fornix. DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING:Randomized,controlled,animal experiment.The study was performed at the Department of Histology and Embryology,China Medical University between September 2006 and September 2008. MATERIALS:Rabbit anti-rat anti-MR and rabbit anti-rat anti-GR antibodies were purchased from Santa Cruz Biotechnology,USA.Rabbit anti-rat anti-corticotrophin releasing hormone(CRH) and rabbit anti-rat anti-arginine vasopressin antibodies were purchased from Wuhan Boster. METHODS:A total of 90 male,Wistar rats were randomly divided into model and sham-surgery groups(n=45).Fornix transection was performed in the model group,while the sham-surgery group underwent surgery,but no fornix transection. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:Immunohistochemistry was used to examine MR and GR expression in the hippocampus,as well as CRH and anti-arginine vasopressin in the paraventricular nucleus.Western blot was used to measure alterations in MR,GR,and CRH protein expression following fomix transection. RESULTS:Compared with the sham-surgery group,there were no obvious changes in MR and GR expression in the hippocampus,or CRH and anti-arginine vasopressin expression in the paraventricular nucleus within 4 days of fornix transection.However,after 7-10 days,significantly decreased MR and GR expression in the hippocampus,and increased CRH and anti-arginine vasopressin expression in the paraventricular nucleus were observed(P<0.05-0.01).
