Association of H.pylori infection with gastric carcinoma:a Meta analysis显示文摘AIM: To follow the principles of evidence based medicine to reach the integrated results of these studies.METHODS: Twenty-one papers of case-control studies were selected, including 11 on gastric cancer, 7 on precancerous lesion of stomach and 3 on lymphoma of stomach: Meta analysis was used to sum up the odds ratios (OR) of these studies.RESULTS: H. Pylori vsgastric cancer (intestinal and diffuse type): the odds ratio from the fixed effect model is 3.0016(95% Cl 2.4197-3.7234, P < 0.001 ). H. Pylori vs precancerous lesion of stomach: a random effect model was used to calculate the summary odds ratio and its value is 2.5635 (95% Cl: 1.8477-3.5566, P < 0.01). H. Pylori vs lymphoma of stomach: though the quantity of literature is too small to make Meta analysis, the data of these 3 studies show that lymphoma of stomach is highly associated with H. Pylori infections.CONCLUSION: Since it had been revealed that H. Pylori infection pre-exists in gastric carcinoma and precancerous lesions, the results of Meta analysis present a strong evidence to support the conclusion that H. Pylori infection is a risk factor for gastric carcinoma. | Fu-Bo Xue~1 Yong-Yong Xu~1 Yi Wan~1 Bo-Rong Pan~2 Jun Ren~2 Dai-Ming Fan~3 1 Department of Health Statistics,Department of2 Oncology3 Gastroenterology of XiJing Hospital, the Fourth Military Medical University,Xi’an 710032,Shaanxi Province,China | 2001 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2001,7,6: | 66

Soil organic carbon storage and soil CO_2 flux in the alpine meadow ecosystem显示文摘High-resolution sampling, measurements of organic carbon contents and 14C signatures of selected four soil profiles in the Haibei Station situated on the northeast Tibetan Plateau, and application of 14C tracing technology were conducted in an attempt to investigate the turnover times of soil organic car-bon and the soil-CO2 flux in the alpine meadow ecosystem. The results show that the organic carbon stored in the soils varies from 22.12×104 kg C hm-2 to 30.75×104 kg C hm-2 in the alpine meadow eco-systems,with an average of 26.86×104 kg C hm-2. Turnover times of organic carbon pools increase with depth from 45 a to 73 a in the surface soil horizon to hundreds of years or millennia or even longer at the deep soil horizons in the alpine meadow ecosystems. The soil-CO2 flux ranges from 103.24 g C m-2 a-1 to 254.93 gC m-2 a-1,with an average of 191.23 g C m-2 a-1. The CO2 efflux produced from microbial decomposition of organic matter varies from 73.3 g C m-2 a-1 to 181 g C m-2 a-1. More than 30% of total soil organic carbon resides in the active carbon pool and 72.8%―81.23% of total CO2 emitted from or-ganic matter decomposition results from the topsoil horizon (from 0 cm to 10 cm) for the Kobresia meadow. Responding to global warming, the storage, volume of flow and fate of the soil organic carbon in the alpine meadow ecosystem of the Tibetan Plateau will be changed, which needs further research. | TAO Zhen1,2,SHEN ChengDe2,GAO QuanZhou1,SUN YanMin2,YI WeiXi2 & LI YingNian3 1 School of Geography and Planning,Sun Yat-sen University,Guangzhou 510275,China 2 Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry,Chinese Academy of Sciences,Guangzhou 510640,China 3 Northwest Plateau Institute of Biology,Chinese Academy of Sciences,Xining 810001,China | 2007 | Science China Earth Sciences2007,50,7: | 12
“Tali Glaciation” on Massif Diancang显示文摘The term of 'Tali Glaciation' is nominated from Massif Diancang in Yunnan Province. The confusing process of the term's being put forward is confirmed through literature checking. Based on several times of field trip, the glacial landforms in this region are studied in detail, and the magnitude of the glaciation was determined. According to the numerical ages from TL, AMS 14C and OSL dating, the ear-liest glacial advance on Massif Diancang occurred at 30―40 ka BP, followed by the advances at the last stage of the last glaciation, the late glacial and neoglations in turn, until glaciers vanished at 1.2―1.5 ca. a BP in this region. It can be concluded that glaciers were limited above 3600 m a.s.l., and no glaciers existed on the lower part and adjacent mountains since the last glaciation. | YANG JianQiang1, CUI ZhiJiu2, YI ChaoLu1, SUN JiMin3 & YANG LiRong3 1 Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing 100085, China 2 College of Environmental Sciences, Peking University, Beijing 100871, China 3 Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing 100029, China | 2007 | Science China Earth Sciences2007,50,11: | 12

Medaka fish stem cells and their applications显示文摘Stem cells are present in developing embryos and adult tissues of multicellular organisms. Owing to their unique features, stem cells provide excellent opportunities for experimental analyses of basic developmental processes such as pluripotency control and cell fate decision and for regenerative medicine by stem cell-based therapy. Stem cell cultures have been best studied in 3 vertebrate organisms. These are the mouse, human and a small laboratory fish called medaka. Specifically, medaka has given rise to the first embryonic stem (ES) cells besides the mouse, the first adult testis-derived male stem cells spermatogonia capable of test-tube sperm production, and most recently, even haploid ES cells capable of producing Holly, a semi-cloned fertile female medaka from a mosaic oocyte created by microinjecting a haploid ES cell nucleus directly into a normal oocyte. These breakthroughs make medaka a favoring vertebrate model for stem cell research, the topic of this review. | YI MeiSheng1, HONG Ni1, LI ZhenDong1, YAN Yan1,2, WANG DanKe1, ZHAO HaoBin1,3 & HONG YunHan1,4* 1Department of Biological Sciences, National University of Singapore, 10 Kent Ridge Crescent, Singapore 119260, Singapore 2Division of Bioengineering, School of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore 637457, Singapore 3Hubei Key Laboratory of Genetic Regulation and Integrative Biology, School of Life Sciences, Huazhong Normal University, Wuhan 430079, China 4State Key Laboratory of Freshwater Ecology and Biotechnology, Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Wuhan 430072, China | 2010 | Science China(Life Sciences)2010,53,4: | 10

Effect of specimen thickness on Mode Ⅱ fracture toughness of rock显示文摘Anti symmetric four point bending specimens with different thickness, without and with guiding grooves, were used to conduct Mode Ⅱ fracture test and study the effect of specimen thickness on Mode Ⅱ fracture toughness of rock. Numerical calculations show that the occurrence of Mode Ⅱ fracture in the specimens without guiding grooves (when the inner and outer loading points are moved close to the notch plane) and with guiding grooves is attributed to a favorable stress condition created for Mode Ⅱ fracture, i.e. tensile stress at the notch tip is depressed to be lower than the tensile strength or to be compressive stress, and the ratio of shear stress to tensile stress at notch tip is very high. The measured value of Mode Ⅱ fracture toughness K ⅡC decreases with the increase of the specimen thickness or the net thickness of specimen. This is because a thick specimen promotes a plane strain state and thus results in a relatively small fracture toughness. | RAO Qiu hua 1,SUN Zong qi 1,WANG Gui yao 2,XU Ji cheng 3,ZHANG Jing yi 3 (1.College of Resources, Environment and Civil Engineering, Central South University, Changsha 410083, China 2.River and Sea Department, Changsha Communications Univer | 2001 | Journal of Central South University of Technology2001,8,2: | 5
Resolution of α-cyclohexyl-mandelic acid enantiomers by two-phase (O/W) recognition chiral extraction显示文摘This paper presents a new chiral separation technology: two-phase (O/W) recognition chiral extraction. Distribution behavior of α-cyclohexyl-mandelic acid enantiomers was studied in the extraction system with D(L)-isobutyl tartrate in 1,2-dichloroethane organic phase and β-CD derivatives in aqueous phase, and the influence of the kind and concentration of extractant and pH on extraction performance was investigated. The experimental results indicate that two-phase (O/W) recognition chiral extraction is of strong chiral separation ability. HP-β-CD, HE-β-CD and Me-β-CD have higher recognition ability for S-CHMA than that for R-CHMA, among which HP-β-CD has the strongest ability; whereas, D-isobutyl tartrate has reversed recognition ability for them. In the extraction system containing HP-β-CD and D-isobutyl tartrate, e.e.% of S-CHMA in aqueous phase reached 27.6% by one stage extraction, and the distribution ratio for R-CHMA(kR) and for S-CHMA(kS) and separation factor (α) are 2.44, 0.89 and 2.49, respectively. Meanwhile, pH and concentration of extractant have great effects on chiral separation ability. Two-phase (O/W) recognition chiral extraction has great significance for preparative separation of racemic compounds. | TANG KeWen1,2, ZHANG GuoLi2, HUANG KeLong2, LI Yuanjian3 & YI JianMin1,2 1 Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Hunan Institute of Science and Technology, Yueyang 414000, China 2 College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Central South University, Changsha 410083, China 3 College of Pharmaceutical Science, Central South University, Changsha 410078, China | 2007 | Science China Chemistry2007,50,6: | 5
Global analysis on slope stability and its engineering application显示文摘In hydraulic engineering, sometimes it is necessary to consider the stability of sliding bodies with lateral frictional boundaries. Neither the existing three dimensional limit equilibrium methods nor the commercial software products are able to treat such situations. The three dimensional factor of safety is accordingly underestimated; while the shearing strength based on the three dimensional back analysis is overestimated. In this study, the lateral boundaries are regarded as the part of the slip surface. Based on the expression of the normal pressure on the slip surface and the patch interpolation, a rigorous solution for the three dimensional limit equilibrium analysis is realized. Meanwhile, the proposed procedure is applied to the stability analysis of the slope with a cable platform on the right bank in Da Gang Shan hydraulic project under construction. | ZHENG Hong1,2 & ZHOU ChuangBing3 1 State Key Laboratory of Geomechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, Wuhan 430071, China 2 China Three Gorges University, Key Laboratory of Geological Hazards on Three Gorges Reservoir Area, Ministry of Education, Yi Chang 443002, China 3 School of Civil Engineering, Wuhan University, Wuhan 430072, China | 2009 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2009,52,2: | 4
Biosynthesis of Unsaturated Fatty Acids via Mortierella Isabellina Cultivated in a Medium Containing Butanol显示文摘Mortierella isabellina was found to accumulate large amounts of unsaturated fatty acids when it was grown in a medium containing butanol(5 g/L) and yeast extract(10 g/L) and cultivated at 25 ℃ for 5 d during which additional feeding butanol of 2 g/L was fed after being cultivated for 48 h . The resultant mycelial lipids accounted for 40 1% of the dry mycelia, while about 34% of butanol in the medium was converted. The mycelial lipids contained four kinds of unsaturated fatty acids, i.e ., palmitoleic(4 9%), oleic(54 1%), linoleic(10 4%) and linolenic(5 4%) acids. Those accounted for 74 8% of the total fatty acids. The effects of the culture conditions, such as cultivation temperature, initial pH of the medium and additional feeding butanol in the course of cultivation, on the production of mycelial lipids by M. isabellina were studied. | XIAN Mo 1, YAN Ji chang 2, CHENG Tie xin 1, KANG Yi jian 3, LI Wen xing 1, BI Ying li 1 and ZHEN Kai ji 1** 1. | 16 | Evolutive characteristics of aromatics under high pressure and temperature of deep lithosphere显示文摘Pyrolysis of lignite in closed systems was conducted at temperatures from 400 to 700℃ and pressure from 1 to 3 GPa in order to investigate the evolutive characteristics of aromatics and the effects of pressure and temperature on the maturation of organic matter under the extreme conditions. The total yield of liquid hydrocarbons decreased with increasing pressure and the aromatics shows more mature with increasing temperature at a given pressure. The data indicate that high pressure significantly suppresses the thermal evolution of geological organic matter especially at lower temperature, but favors the cyclization, polymerization and aromatization of pyrolysate. The pressure effect on maturation of organic matter is nonlinear. Therefore, it can be inferred that sediment organic-matters in the subducted slab could be retained in the deep lithosphere, and the results are also significant for understanding the accumulation and preservation of petroleum in deep reservoirs. | WANG ChuanYuan1,2,4, DU JianGuo1?, DUAN Yi 2, XIE HongSen3, CHEN GuoJun2 & WANG WanChun2 1 Insititute of Earthquake Science, China Earthquake Admnistration, Beijing 100036, China 2 Lanzhou Insititute of Geology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Lanzhou 730000, China 3 Insititute of Geochemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Guiyang 550002, China 4 Yantai Institute of Coastal Zone Research for Sustainable Development, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Yantai 264003, China | 2007 | Science China Earth Sciences2007,50,10: | 3

Preliminary lidar observations of Na meteor trails at Wuhan (30.5°N, 114.4°E), China显示文摘Na lidar measurements of atom meteor trails with an integration period of 3.2 s were conducted at Wuhan (30.5°N, 114.4°E), China. A total of 125 Na meteor trail events were registered from 166 hours (16 nights) of lidar data. These Na trails show peak densities ranging from 4040 to 39170 cm?3 with a mean of 16430 cm?3, while their occurrence altitudes vary from 77.2 to 111.6 km with a distribution centroid at 92.6 km. The upper edge of the Na trail altitude distribution resembles that of the altitude profile of the simultaneously observed mean Na layer. In particular, the trail altitude histogram maximum occurs around the mean Na layer peak. This is consistent with early lidar observations of K and Fe trails, which shows that meteoroids entering the atmosphere tend to yield more atom meteor trails detectable by ground-based lidars around the peak of the regular metal layers than elsewhere. It was found that the formation of the Nas layers was usually accompanied by a bunch of Na meteor trails, and that they occurred near the altitude of the Nas layer peak. | XIE QiuHong1,2,3 & YI Fan1,2,3 1 School of Electronic Information, Wuhan University, Wuhan 430079, China 2 Key Laboratory of Geospace Environment and Geodesy, Ministry of Education, Wuhan 430079, China 3 State Observatory for Atmospheric Remote Sensing, Wuhan 430079, China | 2010 | Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,22: | 2
