1Relationship between the partitioning properties of motoneuron recruitment and the needle feeling propagation显示文摘Histological and physiological studies indicated that most skeletal muscles can be divided into a series of relatively independent sub-volumes: 'neuromuscular compartments' and the partitioning property of the muscle result in the localization of muscle reflex. In the present experiment we studied the recruitment properties of medial gastracnemius (MG) muscle motoneuron pool of decerebrate cat with two kinds of local mechanical stimulation: local stretch and acupuncture-like stimuli. The results indicate that: (ⅰ) there is an obvious property of localization of recruitment activity, only the MNs which innervate the stimulated compartment were recruited by weaker and shorter stimuli; (ⅱ) recruitment activity spread to those MNs which supply the adjacent and distal compartments during the strength of stimulation or duration of the stimulation was increased; and (ⅲ) the recruitment property of muscle activity elicited by the local mechanical stimulation is thought similar to that of 'needle feeling' along the meridian pathway during stimulation of acupuncture point.Zheng Zheng Mei Yu Yikuan Xie 1998Chinese Science Bulletin1998,43,7:3
2Cutaneous Hypersensitivity as an Indicator of Visceral Inflammation via C-Nociceptor Axon Bifurcation显示文摘Pain on the body surface can accompany disorders in the deep tissue or internal organs. However, the anatomical and physiological mechanisms are obscure.Here, we provided direct evidence of axon bifurcation in primary C-nociceptive neurons that innervate both the skin and a visceral organ. Double-labeled dorsal root ganglion(DRG) neurons and Evans blue extravasation were observed in 3 types of chemically-induced visceral inflammation(colitis, urocystitis, and acute gastritis) rat models.In the colitis model, mechanical hypersensitivity and spontaneous activity were recorded in vivo from doublelabeled C-nociceptive neurons in S1 or L6 DRGs. These neurons showed significantly enhanced responses to both somatic stimulation and colorectal distension. Our findings suggest that the branching of C-nociceptor axons contribute to cutaneous hypersensitivity in visceral inflammation. 3Inhibition of Muscular Nociceptive Afferents via the Activation of Cutaneous Nociceptors in a Rat Model of Inflammatory Muscle Pain显示文摘Topical irritants such as capsaicin(CAP),peppermint oil(PO),and mustard oil(MO)are effective in relieving inflammatory muscle pain.We investigated the effects of topical irritants in a rat model of inflammatory muscle pain produced by injecting complete Freund's adjuvant(CFA)into the tibialis anterior muscle.CFAinduced mechanical hypersensitivity and the spontaneous activity of muscular nociceptive afferents,and decreased weight-bearing of the hindlimb were relieved by topical application of CAP,PO,or MO on the skin overlying the inflamed muscle.The effects of topical irritants were abolished when applied to the skin on the ipsilateral plantar region or on the contralateral leg,or when the relevant cutaneous nerve or dorsal root was transected.Our results demonstrated that topical irritants may alleviate inflammatory muscle pain via activating cutaneous nociceptors and subsequently inhibiting the abnormal activity of muscular nociceptive neurons.Yehong Fang Jie Zhu Wanru Duan Yikuan Xie Chao Ma 2020Neuroscience Bulletin2020,36,1:2
4Meridian-like character of reflex electromyogram activity in longissimus dorsi muscles显示文摘We studied the temporal and spacial character of the electromyogram (EMG) evoked by acupuncture in long-issimus dorsi (LD) muscles of rat, and evaluated the effect of needling direction or local blockade on EMG propagation. When certain sites on LD muscle were acupunctured, asynchronous EMG could be activated not only at the acupunctured point, but also within the muscle region supplied by the adjacent 2-3 vertebral segments. The EMG evoked by stimulation on the borderline of aponeurosis and muscle venter was larger in amplitude than those on the other sites in the same vertebral segment. When the distance from the recorded site to stimulated site increased, the EMG amplitude decreased, and its latency prolonged. Acupuncture in an oblique direction toward rostral or caudal side of the muscle enhanced the EMG amplitude in the same direction. EMG activity was weakened and its propagation was blocked by local injection of procaine. 11Injury of Muscular but not Cutaneous Nerve Drives Acute Neuropathic Pain in Rats显示文摘Acute pain is a common complication after injury of a peripheral nerve but the underlying mechanism is obscure.We established a model of acute neuropathic pain via pulling a pre-implanted suture loop to transect a peripheral nerve in awake rats.The tibial(both muscular and cutaneous),gastrocnemius-soleus(muscular only),and sural nerves(cutaneous only)were each transected.Transection of the tibial and gastrocnemius-soleus nerves,but not the sural nerve immediately evoked spontaneous pain and mechanical allodynia in the skin territories innervated by the adjacent intact nerves.Evans blue extravasation and cutaneous temperature of the intact skin territory were also significantly increased.In vivo electrophysiological recordings revealed that injury of a muscular nerve induced mechanical hypersensitivity and spontaneous activity in the nociceptive C-neurons in adjacent intact nerves.Our results indicate that injury of a muscular nerve,but not a cutaneous nerve,drives acute neuropathic pain.Jie Zhu Zhiyong Chen Yehong Fang Wanru Duan Yikuan Xie Chao Ma 2020Neuroscience Bulletin2020,36,5:1

14Transplanted adipose-derived stem cells delay D-galactose-induced aging in rats显示文摘To investigate the effects of allogeneically transplanted, adipose-derived stem cells in aging rats, in the present study, we established a rat model of subacute aging using continuous subcutaneous injections of D-galactose. Two weeks after the adipose-derived stem cells transplantations, serum superoxide dismutase activity was significantly increased, malondialdehyde content was significantly reduced, hippocampal neuronal degeneration was ameliorated, the apoptotic index of hippocampal neurons was decreased, and learning and memory function was significantly improved in the aging rats.
