1Environment-ecosystem dynamic processes of Spartina alterniflora salt-marshes along the eastern China coastlines显示文摘Spartina alterniflora is ecologically important in its original habitat; however, it has caused controversy since it was introduction into China(now it has been spreading rapidly on the Jiangsu, Shanghai, Zhejiang and Fujian coasts). The purpose of the present contribution is, on the basis of an analysis and synthesis of existing data sets, to evaluate the environmental-ecological effects of S. alterniflora, and to identify the relevant scientific problems that require further research in the future. Investigations have shown that, by reducing the near-bed shear stress associated with tidal currents, S. alterniflora can enhance the settling flux of suspended sediment and deposition rate on the tidal flats over the region. Further, field survey and analysis indicate that the S. alterniflora salt-marsh has a high primary production and provides a new type of habitat for the native benthic fauna. Some macro-, meio- and micro-fauna that used to live in the native salt-marshes have adapted to the S. alterniflora salt-marsh, forming a new ecosystem. Under the influences of a number of background factors, such as latitude variations and the coastal type, the environmental-ecological changes induced by Spartine have regional differentiations. To the north of Hangzhou Bay, with a high position of the pre-Holocene stratum base, a large width of the tidal flats, and a gentle bed slope, only a small part of the intertidal zone is occupied by the S. alterniflora salt-marsh. Here, the S. alterniflora salt-marshes mainly play a positive role in coastal protection and ecosystem functioning. In contrary, to the South of Hangzhou Bay, The pre-Holocene deposits are situated in relatively deeo waters, and the width of the tidal flats formed within coastal embayments is relatively narrow. As such, the expansion of S. alterniflora has squeezed the living space of other intertidal organisms, thus has a negative ecological effect. Therefore, the regional differentiation of the Spartina effects should be sufficiently considered in coastal development and management. 2Intermedin/adrenomedullin2: an autocrine/paracrine factor in vascular homeostasis and disease显示文摘Intermedin(IMD)or adrenomedullin 2 is a novel peptide related to the calcitonin gene-related peptide(CGRP)family.Via calcitonin receptor-like receptor/receptor activity modifying proteins,the common receptor complexes of CGRP,IMD exerts a wide range of biological effects,especially regulation of cardiovascular homeostasis.Proteolytic processing of a larger IMD precursor yields a series of biologically active C-terminal fragments,IMD1–53,IMD1–47 and IMD8–47.IMD and its receptors are present in the cardiovascular system,and IMD is present at low levels in plasma.In the cardiovascular system,IMD has multiple functions such as regulation of blood pressure and cardiac function,pro-angiogenesis,endothelial barrier function protection,anti-oxidative stress,and anti-endoplasmic reticulum stress.IMD participates widely in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis,hypertension,pulmonary arterial hypertension and vascular calcification.It is a vascular regulatory factor of homeostasis and a vital endogenous protective factor against vascular diseases.NI XianQiang ZHANG JinSheng TANG ChaoShu QI YongFen 2014Science China(Life Sciences)2014,57,8:14
3Experimental study on the performance of bowl-tray rice precision seeder显示文摘In order to optimize the parameters of bowl-tray rice precision seeder and improve its performance,three major factors respectively at five levels,including shaped hole diameter,vertical displacement of rice seeds and rotating speed of cam,were tested,the quadratic orthogonal rotational regression experiments were conducted,and the effects on seeding rate,leakage sowing rate and the injury rate were investigated.The test results show that factors affecting rice seeding rate are in the order of shaped hole diameter,rotating speed of cam and vertical displacement of rice seeds.The factors affecting rice planting leakage rate are in the order of shaped hole diameter,vertical displacement of rice seeds and rotating speed of cam,and the factors affecting rice injury rate are in the order of rotating speed of cam,vertical displacement of rice seeds and shaped hole diameter.Optimal parameters(shaped hole diameter:10 mm,vertical displacement of rice seeds:27 mm,rotating speed of cam:13 r/min)and performance index(seeding rate:95.43%,leakage sowing rate:0.37%,injury rate:0.58%)provided the basis for design and performance improvement of the bowl-tray rice precision seeder.Yi Shujuan Liu Yongfen Wang Chun Tao Guixiang Liu Haiyan Wang Ruihan 2014International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2014,7,1:10

5Ecological functioning of free-living marine nematodes in coastal wetlands: an overview显示文摘Nematodes are small multicellular, thread-like organisms, inhabiting almost all conceivable environments;among these, some 25 % are free-living marine forms with a population density of(1–12) 9 106 inds m-2in seabed sediment, reaching maximum values in muddy estuaries and salt marshes. A large quantity of carbon from the salt marsh plants enters the ecosystem via the detritus pathway,in which nematodes play an important role through their feeding and bioturbation activities. Vegetation influences the sedimentary environment and modifies the distribution pattern of nematode communities in coastal wetlands.Nematodes are coupled closely with bacteria/detritus in microbial food webs, stimulating bacterial growth and subsequent nutrient remineralization; they provide food sources for higher trophic levels and serve as a linkagebetween micro- and macro-fauna. Furthermore, nematodes have a potential to provide proxies that can be used in diagnosing environmental quality. In China, only a limited number of nematode data sets are available for the coastal wetlands across several different climatic zones. It is necessary to carry out additional investigations into the biology and ecology of nematodes in order to delineate their ecological functioning in coastal wetlands. On such a basis,the contribution made by nematodes to material cycling and the ecological functioning in coastal wetlands can be quantified. The assessment of their biological diversity should be a focus, which is fundamental in the study of wetland ecosystem dynamic mechanisms. In addition to laboratory and mesocosm experiments, mathematical models should be established to predict the responses of ecosystem to the environmental disturbance. 7Capacitive humidity sensing properties of carbon nanotubes grown on silicon nanoporous pillar array显示文摘Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were grown on silicon nanoporous pillar array (Si-NPA) by thermal chemical vapor deposition method, and the structural and capacitive humidity sensing properties of CNT/Si-NPA were studied. It was found that with the relative humidity (RH) changing from 11% to 95%, a device re-sponse of ~480% was achieved at the frequency of 50000 Hz, and a linear device response curve could be obtained by adopting longitudinal logarithmic coordinate. The response/recovery times were measured to be ~20 s and ~10 s, respectively, which indicated a rather fast response/recovery rate. The adsorption-desorption dynamic cycle experiments demonstrated the high measurement reproducibility of CNT/Si-NPA sensors.
