Analysis of a model simulation of Typhoon Hagupit(2008) shows that the oscillations also occur in the TC intensity, vertical motion, convergence activity and air density around the eyewall. | 4 | Variations in High-frequency Oscillations of Tropical Cyclones over the Western North Pacific显示文摘Variations in the high-frequency oscillations of tropical cyclones(TCs) over the western North Pacific(WNP) are studied in numerical model simulations. Power spectrum analysis of maximum wind speeds at 10 m(MWS_(10)) from an ensemble of15 simulated TCs shows that oscillations are significant for all TCs. The magnitudes of oscillations in MWS_(10) are similar in the WNP and South China Sea(SCS); however, the mean of the averaged significant periods in the SCS(1.93 h) is shorter than that in the open water of the WNP(2.83 h). The shorter period in the SCS is examined through an ensemble of simulations,and a case simulation as well as a sensitivity experiment in which the continent is replaced by ocean for Typhoon Hagupit(2008). The analysis of the convergence efficiency within the boundary layer suggests that the shorter periods in the SCS are possibly due to the stronger terrain effect, which intensifies convergence through greater friction. | 6 | An ultrafast carrier dynamics system from oxygen vacancies modified SnO_(2)QDs and Zn_(2)SnO_(4)heterojunction for deeply photocatalytic oxidation of NO显示文摘Deeply photocatalytic oxidation of NO-to-NO_(3)holds great promise for alleviating NO_(x) pollution.The major challenge of NO photo-oxidation is the highly in-situ generated NO_(2) concentration,and the formation of unstable nitrate species causes desorption to release NO_(2).In this study,SnO_(2) quantum dots and oxygen vacancies co-modified Zn_(2)SnO_(4)(ZSO-SnO_(2)-OVs)were prepared by a one-step hydrothermal procedure,the NO photo-oxidation was investigated by a combination of solid experimental and theoretical support.Impressively,spectroscopic measurements indicate that fast carrier dynamics can be achieved due to the electron transfer efficiency of ZSO-SnO_(2)-OVs reaching 99.99%,far outperforming the counterpart and previously reported photocatalysts.During NO oxidation,molecular NO/O_(2) and H2O are efficiently adsorbed/activated around OVs and SnO_(2) QDs,respectively.In-situ infrared measurements and calculated electron localized function disclose two main findings:(1)richly electrons enable NO promptly form NOinstead of toxic NO_(2) or NO^(+);(2)the generation of stable and undecomposed bidentate NO_(3)rather than bridging or monodentate one benefits the deep oxidation of NO via shifting reaction sites from O terminals for original ZSO to Sn ones for ZSO-SnO_(2)-OVs.The synergistic action of SnO_(2) QDs and OVs positively contributes to the NO oxidation performance enhancement(60.6%,0.1 g of sample)and high selectivity of NO to NO_(3)(99.2%).Results from this study advance the mechanistic understanding of NO photooxidation and its selectivity to NO_(3)over photocatalysts. | Yuhan Li Min Zhang Bangfu Chen Ping Ouyang Youyu Duan Kangle Lv Fan Dong | 2023 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023,,34: | 0 |

| 9 | Strength test of 3D printed artificial rock mass with pre-existing fracture显示文摘Discontinuities or structural planes are widely distributed in natural rock masses and significantly influence their geo-mechanical and geometric properties.Herein,a batch of rock samples,each with a single structural plane,is created using a 3D printer equipped with two robotic manipulators.One of the manipulators is connected via a nozzle to a concrete pumping truck,which can extrude brittle rock-like material to form layered intact rock masses;the rock-like material is mainly composed of cement,silica fume,sand and water.The other manipulator features a knife,which can carve discontinuities onto each layer of the printed model.By means of this system,rock masses with discontinuous joints are formed,and the failure strengths of rock masses with different joints are demonstrated via uniaxial compression tests and direct shear tests.The results thereof obtained via digital image correlation technology show that discontinuities lower the strength of the rock mass models significantly.With the increase of the angle between the fracture and horizontal plane,the uniaxial compressive strength first decreases,and then increases.During shear testing,the shear strength of the rock mass models increases with the surface roughness of the preset joint.These test results indicate that the influence of artificial joints on the mechanical properties of the models is consistent with that of natural rock mass joints.Using digital modeling and 3D printing technology,cracks hidden in a rock mass can be reproduced. | Youyu Wang Li Wang Fanfei Meng Kang Chen | 2021 | Underground Space2021,6,5: | 0 |
