1Remediation of Heavy Metal-Polluted Agricultural Soils Using Clay Minerals: A Review显示文摘Heavy metal contamination of agricultural soils poses risks and hazards to humans. The remediation of heavy metal-polluted soils has become a hot topic in environmental science and engineering. In this review, the application of clay minerals for the remediation of heavy metal-polluted agricultural soils is summarized, in terms of their remediation effects and mechanisms, influencing factors,and future focus. Typical clay minerals, natural sepiolite, palygorskite, and bentonite, have been widely utilized for the in-situ immobilization of heavy metals in soils, especially Cd-polluted paddy soils and wastewater-irrigated farmland soils. Clay minerals are able to increase soil p H, decrease the chemical-extractable fractions and bioavailability of heavy metals in soils, and reduce the heavy metal contents in edible parts of plants. The immobilization effects have been confirmed in field-scale demonstrations and pot trials. Clay minerals can improve the environmental quality of soils and alleviate the hazards of heavy metals to plants. As main factors affecting the immobilization effects, the p H and water condition of soils have drawn academic attention. The remediation mechanisms mainly include liming, precipitation, and sorption effects. However, the molecular mechanisms of microscopic immobilization are unclear. 3Ubi1 intron-mediated enhancement of the expression of Bt cry1Ah gene in transgenic maize (Zea mays L.)显示文摘The cry1Ah gene was one of novel insecticidal genes cloned from Bacillus thuringiensis isolate BT8. Two plant expression vectors containing cry1Ah gene were constructed. The first intron of maize ubiqutin1 gene was inserted between the maize Ubiquitin promoter and cry1Ah gene in one of the plant expressing vectors (pUUOAH). The two vectors were introduced into maize immature embryonic calli by microprojectile bombardment, and the reproductively plants were acquired. PCR and Southern blot analysis showed that foreign genes had been integrated into maize genome and inherited to the next generation stably. The ELISA assay to T1 and T2 generation plants showed that the expression of Cry1Ah protein in the construct containing the ubi1 intron (pUUOAH) was 20% higher than that of the intronless construct (pUOAH). Bioassay results showed that the transgenic maize harboring cry1Ah gene had high resistance to the Asian corn borers and the insecticidal activity of the transgenic maize containing the ubi1 intron was higher than that of the intronless construct. 4In situ stabilization remediation of cadmium contaminated soils of wastewater irrigation region using sepiolite显示文摘The effects of immobilization remediation of Cd-contaminated soils using sepiolite on soil pH,enzyme activities and microbial communities,TCLP-Cd(toxicity characteristic leaching procedure-Cd) concentration,and spinach(Spinacia oleracea) growth and Cd uptake and accumulation were investigated.Results showed that the addition of sepiolite could increase soil pH,while the TCLP-Cd concentration in soil was decreased with increasing sepiolite.The changes of soil enzyme activities and bacteria number indicated that a certain metabolic recovery occurred after the sepiolite treatments,and spinach shoot biomass increased by 58.5%-65.5% in comparison with the control group when the concentration of sepiolite was 10 g/kg.However,the Cd concentrations in the shoots and roots of spinach decreased with an increase in the rate of sepiolite,experiencing 38.4%-59.1% and 12.6%-43.6% reduction,respectively,in contrast to the control.The results indicated that sepiolite has the potential for success on a field scale in reducing Cd entry into the food chain.Yuebing Sun Guohong Sun Yingming Xu Lin Wang Dasong Lin Xuefeng Liang Xin Shi 2012Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,10:11

6Comparison of the activities of binder-added and binder-free Mo/HZSM-5 catalysts in methane dehydroaromatization at 1073 K in periodic CH_4-H_2 switch operation mode显示文摘Three industry-supplied,well-shaped Mo/HZSM-5 catalysts,two binder-added and one binder-free,were tested for the first time in methane dehydroaromatization to benzene at 1073 K and 10000 mL/(g h)in periodic CH4-H2 switch operation mode,and their catalytic performances were compared with those of three self-prepared,binder-free powder Mo/HZSM-5 catalysts.XRD,27Al NMR,SEM,BET and NH3-TPD characterizations of all the catalysts show that the zeolites in the two binder-added catalysts are comparable to those in the three binder-free powder catalysts in crystallinity,crystal size,micropore volume and Brnsted acidity.The test results,on the other hand,show that the catalytic performances of the two binder-added catalysts are worse than those of the four binder-free catalysts on both catalyst mass and zeolite mass bases.Then,TPO and BET measurements of all spent samples were conducted to get a deep insight into the negative effects of binder addition, and the results suggest that the binder additives functioned mainly to enhance the polyaromatization of formed aromatics to coke on their external surfaces and consequently lower the benzene formation activity and selectivity of the catalyst.Yuebing Xu Hongtao Ma Yo Yamamoto Yoshizo Suzuki Zhanguo Zhang 2012Journal of Natural Gas Chemistry2012,21,6:7
7Dehydrogenation of n-butane over vanadia catalysts supported on silica gel显示文摘VOx/SiO2 catalysts prepared by impregnation method were used for catalytic dehydrogenation of n-butane to butenes and characterized by X-ray diffraction, FT-IR, UV-vis, Raman, and BET measurements. The effects of VOx loading and the reaction temperature on the VOx/SiO2 catalysts and their catalytic performances for the dehydrogenation of n-butane were studied. When the VOx loading was 12% g/gcat and reaction temperature was between 590 °C and 600 °C, n-butane conversion and butenes yields reached the highest value under H2 flux of 10 ml/min and n-butane flux of 10 ml/min. 8The application of laser reflective tomography in near-field measurements of ultrasonic transducers显示文摘With Laser Reflective Tomography(LRT),the near fields of ultrasonic transducers were measured and analyzed.The principle of LRT measurement of ultrasonic field distribution was introduced and an experimental system was set up.Acoustic pressure of a multiple element piston transducer was measured by using of a laser vibrometer.Its distribution in amplitude and phase was obtained.The acoustic pressure in the same region was measured with a needle hydrophone to validate the LRT method.Furthermore,through reconstruction of acoustic fields,it indicated that LRT method is suitable for predicting the distribution on transducers'surface and conditions of active elements.WANG Yuebing WANG Shiquan 2014Chinese Journal of Acoustics2014,33,3:4
9Light-driven single-cell rotational adhesion frequency assay显示文摘The interaction between cell surface receptors and extracellular ligands is highly related to many physiological processes in living systems.Many techniques have been developed to measure the ligand-receptor binding kinetics at the single-cell level.However,few techniques can measure the physiologically relevant shear binding affinity over a single cell in the clinical environment.Here,we develop a new optical technique,termed single-cell rotational adhesion frequency assay(scRAFA),that mimics in vivo cell adhesion to achieve label-free determination of both homogeneous and heterogeneous binding kinetics of targeted cells at the subcellular level.Moreover,the scRAFA is also applicable to analyze the binding affinities on a single cell in native human biofluids.With its superior performance and general applicability,scRAFA is expected to find applications in study of the spatial organization of cell surface receptors and diagnosis of infectious diseases.Yaoran Liu Hongru Ding Jingang Li Xin Lou Mingcheng Yang Yuebing Zheng 2022eLight2022,2,1:2

11Influence of leptin on luteinizing hormone and follicle stimulating hormone secreted from cultured rat anterior pituitary cells显示文摘BACKGROUND: Leptin may regulate reproductive function via release of hypothalamic neuropeptide Y. However, it is unknown whether this regulatory effect is limited to the hypothalamus. OBJECTIVE: To detect the effect of different dosages of leptin on luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) secretion from in vitro cultured rat anterior pituitary cells. DESIGN: Contrast study based on cells. SETTING: This study was performed in the Basic Institute of Chengde Medical College, Chengde City, Hebei Province, China from March to June 2007. MATERIALS: Eighteen female Wistar rats of three months of age, weighing 200-220 g, and of clean grade were used. Leptin was provided by Peprotech Company, DMEM culture medium by Invitrogen Company, and the radioimmunological kit by Beijing Zhongshan Jinqiao Biotechnology Co., Ltd. METHODS: Three glandular organs were regarded as one group for culture of anterior pituitary cells. In the control group, saline was added to the culture medium instead of leptin. In the leptin group, leptin was prepared into different concentrations of 1×10-12, 1×10-11, 1×10-9, 1×10-7, and 1×10-6 mol/L for stimulation of cultured cells. The culture supernatant was obtained at three hours after additional of saline/leptin. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Contents of LH and FSH were detected by radioimmunology. RESULTS: Following leptin stimulation, LH release increased with increasing concentrations of leptin up to 1×10-9 mol/L, where LH release peaked. LH release then progressively decreased with increasing leptin concentrations (P < 0.01). LH release in the leptin (1×10-12, 1×10-11, 1×10-7, and 1×10-6 mol/L) groups was significantly higher than that in the control group (P < 0.01). FSH content in the leptin (1×10-11, 1×10-9, and 1×10-7 mol/L) groups was significantly higher than that in the control group (P < 0.01). 12Numerical Simulation and Shrinkage Defects Prediction of a Turbine Blade Investment Casting显示文摘By adopting the solid modeling software SoldEdge and the enmeshment software SRIFCast as the pre-processingplatform, a Ni based alloy turbine blade was three-dimensionally modeled and automatically enmeshed. A softwarecode for numerical simulation of fluid flow and heat transfer was developed. The Xue criterion and Niyama criterionwere used to predict the position of the shrinkage defects occurring in the solidification processes of the turbine blade.The results showed that both Xue and Niyama criteria could precisely predict the shrinkage defects in the Ni basedalloy turbine blade. 14Intracerebroventricular leptin injection affects neuroendocrine reproductive axis in ovariectomized rats显示文摘BACKGROUND:Leptin regulates neuroendocrine function of the hypothalamus-pituitary-ovary axis in humans. OBJECTIVE: To verify effects of intracerebroventricular leptin injection on neuroendocrine function of the hypothalamus-pituitary-ovary axis in ovariectomized rats. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: A randomized, controlled experiment was performed at the Basic Medical Institute, Chengde Medical College between June and October 2007. MATERIALS: Thirty healthy, female, Wistar rats were included in this study. The following compounds were used: leptin; gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kits. METHODS: Rats were randomly divided into 3 groups at 1, 2, and 4 hours after injection. Each group was subdivided into control and experimental groups (n = 5 animals per group and time point). All rats were subjected to bilateral ovariectomy and, beginning on day 7 after surgery, animals received daily subcutaneous injections of estradiol benzoate (2 μg) for 7 consecutive days. The experimental groups were injected with 5 μL leptin (1 g/L) into the lateral cerebral ventricle, and control groups received an equal volume of physiological saline. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: GnRH and LH secretion were examined 1, 2, and 4 hours after injection using GnRH and LH ELISA kits, respectively. RESULTS: In the experimental groups, GnRH secretion significantly increased (P < 0.01), followed by LH secretion (P < 0.01), compared with the control groups. GnRH secretion significantly increased 1 hour after leptin injection (P < 0.01). The LH increase was less pronounced, but still significant (P < 0.01); however, the most prominent LH increase occurred between 1 and 2 hours. Both GnRH and LH secretion reached peak levels at 2 hours after leptin injection. Thereafter, both GnRH and LH secretion decreased, but still maintained very high levels, compared with the control group (P < 0.01). CONCLUSION: Intracerebroventricular leptin injection produced similar effects on GnRH and LH secretion in ovariectomized rats, indicating regulatory effects of leptin on GnRH and LH secretion.Yuebing Qiao Huixian Cui 2008Neural Regeneration Research2008,3,8:2

17Opto-thermoelectric pulling of light-absorbing particles显示文摘Optomechanics arises from the photon momentum and its exchange with low-dimensional objects.It is well known that optical radiation exerts pressure on objects,pushing them along the light path.However,optical pulling of an object against the light path is still a counter-intuitive phenomenon.Herein,we present a general concept of optical pulling-opto-thermoelectric pulling(OTEP)—where the optical heating of a light-absorbing particle using a simple plane wave can pull the particle itself against the light path.This irradiation orientation-directed pulling force imparts self-restoring behaviour to the particles,and three-dimensional(3D)trapping of single particles is achieved at an extremely low optical intensity of 10^(−2)mWμm^(−2).Moreover,the OTEP force can overcome the short trapping range of conventional optical tweezers and optically drive the particle flow up to a macroscopic distance.The concept of selfinduced opto-thermomechanical coupling is paving the way towards freeform optofluidic technology and lab-on-achip devices.Linhan Lin Pavana Siddhartha Kollipara Abhay Kotnala Taizhi Jiang Yaoran Liu Xiaolei Peng Brian A.Korgel Yuebing Zheng 2020Light(Science & Applications)2020,9,1:1
