| 1 | Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae improves learning and memory capabilities in ovariectomized rats显示文摘Kidney-tonifying recipe can reduce the accumulation of advanced glycation end products, prevent neuronal degeneration and improve cognitive functions in ovariectomized rats. Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae alcohol extracts may dose-dependently inhibit non-enzymatic saccharification in vitro. This study aimed to examine the effect of Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae on advanced glycation end products and on learning and memory capabilities in ovariectomized rats. Ovariectomized rats were treated with Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae alcohol extracts (containing 1.5 g/kg crude drug) or 0.1% aminoguanidine for 12 weeks and behavioral testing was performed with the Y-electrical maze. This test revealed that Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae and aminoguanidine could improve the learning and memory capabilities of ovariectomized rats. Results of competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay showed that treatment with Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae or aminoguanidine reduced the accumulation of advanced glycation end products in the frontal cortex of ovariectomized rats, while increasing content in the blood and urine. Biochemical tests showed that treatment with Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae or aminoguanidine decreased superoxide dismutase activity in the serum and frontal cortex, and increased serum levels of glutathione peroxidase in ovariectomized rats. In addition, there was no apparent effect on malondialdehyde levels. These experimental findings indicate that Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae inhibits production of advanced glycation end products and its accumulation in brain tissue, and improves learning and memory capabilities in ovariectomized rats. | 2 | Morphological MRI and T2 mapping of cartilage repair tissue after mosaicplasty with tissue-engineered cartilage in a pig model显示文摘The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of mosaicplasty with tissue-engineered cartilage for the treatment of osteochondral defects in a pig model with advanced MR technique.Eight adolescent miniature pigs were used.The right knee underwent mosaicplasty with tissue-engineered cartilage for treatment of focal osteochondral defects,while the left knee was repaired via single mosaicplasty as controls.At 6,12,18 and 26 weeks after surgery,repair tissue was evaluated by magnetic resonance imaging(MSI)with the cartilage repair tissue(MOCART)scoring system and T2mapping.Then,the results of MRI for 26 weeks were compared with findings of macroscopic and histologic studies.The MOCART scores showed that the repaired tissue of the tissue-engineered cartilage group was statistically better than mat of controls(P<0.001).A significant correlation was found between macroscopic and MOCART scores(P<0.001).Comparable mean T2 values were found between adjacent cartilage and repair tissue in the experimental group(P>0.05).For zonal T2 value evaluation,there were no significant zonal T2 differences for repair tissue in controls(P>0.05).For the experimental group,zonal T2 variation was found in repair tissue(P<0.05).MRI,macroscopy and histology showed better repair results and bony incorporation in mosaicplasty with the tissue-engineered cartilage group than those of the single mosaicplasty group.Mosaicplasty with the tissue-engineered cartilage is a promising approach to repair osteochodndral defects.Morphological MRI and T2 mapping provide a non-invasive method for monitoring the maturation and integration of cartilage repair tissue in vivo. | Qichun Chen Qiang Zuo Qianqian Hu Yang Feng Weiding Cui Weimin Fan Yuefen Zou | 2014 | The Journal of Biomedical Research2014,28,4: | 2 |
| 3 | Validation of different personalized risk models of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting:results of a randomized,double-blind,phase III trial of fosaprepitant for cancer patients treated with high-dose cisplatin显示文摘Background:Highly emetogenic chemotherapy induces emesis in cancer patients without prophylaxis.The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a fosaprepitant-based triple antiemetic regimen for the prevention of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting(CINV)in patients with solid malignant tumors,determine risk factors and externally validate different personalized risk models for CINV.Methods:This phase III trial was designed to test the non-inferiority of fosaprepitant toward aprepitant in cancer patients who were to receive the first cycle of single-day cisplatin chemotherapy.The primary endpoint was complete response(CR)during the overall phase(OP)with a non-inferiority margin of 10.0%.Logistic regression modelswere used to assess the risk factors ofCRand no nausea.To validate the personalized risk models,the accuracy of the risk scoring systems was determined by measuring the specificity,sensitivity and area under the receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve(AUC),while the predictive accuracy of the nomogram was measured using concordance index(C-index).Results:A total of 720 patients were randomly assigned.CR during the OP in the fosaprepitant group was not inferior to that in the aprepitant group(78.1%vs.77.7%,P=0.765)with a between-group difference of 0.4%(95%CI,-5.7%to 6.6%).Female sex,higher cisplatin dose(≥70 mg/m2),no history of drinking and larger body surface area(BSA)were significantly associated with nausea.The AUC for the acute and delayed CINV risk indexes was 0.68(95%CI:0.66-0.71)and 0.66(95%CI:0.61-0.70),respectively,and the C-index for nomogram CINV prediction was 0.59(95%CI,0.54-0.64).Using appropriate cutoff points,the three models could stratify patients with high-or low-risk CINV.No nausea and CR rate were significantly higher in the low-risk group than in the high-risk group(P<0.001).Conclusions:Fosaprepitant-based triple prophylaxis demonstrated non-inferior control for preventing CINV in patients treated with cisplatin-base chemotherapy.Female cancer patients without a history of alcohol consumption,with larger BSA and received high-dose cisplatin might be more vulnerable to CINV.Three personalized prediction models were well-validated and could be used to optimize antiemetic therapy for individual patients. | Yuanyuan Zhao Bing Zhao Gang Chen Yinlan Chen Zijun Liao Haiming Zhang Weineng Feng Yinyin Li Heng Weng Weidong Li Yuefen Zhou Biyong Ren Yanda Lu Jianhua Chen Zhenteng Liu Zhenzhong Su Wenliang Wang Li Zhang | 2023 | Cancer Communications2023,43,2: | 2 |

The current data collection and compilation system of trade balance can not reflect these changes in the world economic environment. | 5 | Transformation and influencing factors of scholarly communication based on knowledge transfer: A case study of science and technology literature显示文摘Purpose: The process of scientific literature use can be regarded as that of knowledge transfer. With the help of the knowledge transfer theory and data from scientific literature databases, we explored the behavior of scientific researchers during their scholarly communication, and studied the factors that influenced the behavior of researchers under network environment. Design/methodology/approach: Based on the literature databases of CNKI, Elsevier Science Direct and Springer Link, we used the knowledge transfer theory to construct a model for describing the scholarly communication process, which attempts to find out factors that may influence the communication behavior of researchers. With a focus laid on the absorption behavior of researchers during the knowledge acceptance process, we defined the independent variables of the model and proposed hypotheses on the basis of a comprehensive literature study. Afterwards, college students were invited to participate in a questionnaire survey, which was designed to prove our research model and hypotheses.Findings: Our results showed that during the scholarly communication, it is not the professional knowledge, but the ability and willingness for knowledge acceptance, organizations' importance and internal atmosphere as well as knowledge authority and relevance that have played a positive significant role in the knowledge transfer performance. In addition, our distance indicators showed that knowledge distance and knowledge transfer performance have significant negative correlations. Research limitations: This study is mainly based on a questionnaire survey of college students, which may limit the generalization of our research results. In addition, more resource types need be considered for further studies.Practical implications: Under network environment, scholarly communication performance based on knowledge transfer theory could greatly contribute to the enrichment of the contentof the knowledge transfer theory, and stretch out the range of the field. In addition, our result could help commercial scientific database providers to learn more about the users' needs, which would not only benefit both scientific communities and content providers, but also promote scholarly communication effectively. | 8 | Influence of tonifying kidney recipe on advanced glycation endproducts and lipid peroxidation in ovariectomized rats显示文摘BACKGROUND: Previous studies have demonstrated that reduced estrogen levels may accelerate the formation of advanced glycation endproducts (AGE) in brain tissue, raise the concentration of lipid peroxidation products in vivo, and speed up deterioration of learning and memory. A tonifying kidney recipe is hypothesized to improve the ability of learning and memory in ovariectomized rats by downregulating AGE and lipid peroxidation products. OBJECTIVE: To simulate a postmenopausal state, bilateral ovariectomy (OVX) was performed in rats, and the effects of tonifying kidney recipe (TKR) on AGE and lipid peroxidation in the rat cerebral cortex, hippocampus, and blood serum levels was measured. In addition, the effects on learning and memory were evaluated, and the effect of AGE -specific inhibitor aminoguanidine (AG) was compared with TKR. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: A randomized, in vivo, control experiment was performed at the scien- tific research center (Provincial Key Laboratory) in the Fourth Hospital of Hebei Medical University (Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province, China) from May 2005 to January 2007. MATERIALS: Forty healthy, adult, female, Sprague Dawley rats were used for this study. TKR was composed of prepared rehmannia rhizome, epimedium herb, desert-living cistanche, and Szechwan lovage rhizome, which were provided by Shijiazhuang Medical Materials Company (China). A TKR extraction was prepared for further use. AG was provided by Sigma (USA). Forty rats were randomly divided into four groups: sham, OVX, AG, and TKR, with 10 rats in each group. METHODS: The rat ovaries were resected in the OVX, AG, and TKR groups, whereas the same volume of fat was resected in the sham group. At four weeks after OVX, the AG group received 1% AG water solution by lavage; the TKR group was administrated by lavage once per day at a dose of 6.3 g (crude drug)/kg; OVX and sham groups received equal volumes of tap water. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Learning and memory behavior of rats was tested in a Y-electric maze 16 weeks after the OVX procedure. The contents of advanced glycation endproducts in the rat cerebral cortex, hippocampus, serum, and urine were detected by competitive ELISA and spectrofluorophotometer. The con- tents of lipid peroxidation in rat serum, cerebral cortex, and hippocampus were assayed using a biochemical method. RESULTS: Compared with the sham group, serum content of advanced glycation endproducts in the OVX group was significantly increased, and lipid peroxidation content increased in cerebral cortex, hippocampus, and serum (t = 3.04-4.22, P < 0.05-0.01). Both AG and TKR decreased the amount of AGE in cerebral cor- tex and serum (t = 2.53, 3.64, P < 0.05, 0.01), increased AGE urine content (t = 3.25-4.87, P < 0.01), and decreased lipid peroxidation content in cerebral cortex, hippocampus, and serum (t = 2.80-3.70, P < 0.05-0.01). In comparison to the OVX and sham groups, the correct escape rate in the Y-electric maze was significantly increased (t = 3.46, 3.28, P < 0.01), and escape latency was significantly decreased (t=3.12, 2.48, P < 0.05) in the AG and TKR groups, which indicated that both AG and TKR improved learning and memory. The OVX group had a significantly lower correct escape compared with the sham group (t = 4.21, P < 0.01). CONCLUSION: The tonifying kidney recipe decreased deposition of advanced glycation endproducts and lipid peroxidation in ovariectomized rats, and concomitantly improved learning and memory. | 18 | Polymorphism Analysis on Partial Sequence of Pig Obese Gene of Different Breeds by PCR- SSCP显示文摘Polymorphisms of porcine ob exon 1 and exon 2 among different breeds including Landrace, Duroc, Min pig, Yorkshire pig, double-muscled Yorkshire, Sanjiang pig, wild boar and cross bred pig were analyzed by PCR-SSCP in the current study. Three pairs of primers according to the ob cDNA sequence obtained from GenBank database were designed to amplify the first two exons, which were then genotyped by SSCP. The T to C transversion was found in exon 2, which resulted in 3 genotypes named AA, AB and BB, respectively in these different porcine breeds. There was only genotype of BB in the Min pig, while no allele B was detected in double-muscled Yorkshire, and the 3 genotypes all existed in other breeds. There was significant difference on the genotype frequencies in various breeds. There was a trend that the frequency of allele A was positively associated with muscle ratio distribution on the one hand, and on the other hand, it was linked to the selected direction. | 19 | Effects of straw mulching on microclimate characteristics and evapotranspiration of drip-irrigated winter wheat in North China Plain显示文摘Field experiments were conducted for two consecutive years(2013-2014 and 2014-2015)to study the effects of straw mulching on microclimate characteristics,energy flux,soil evaporation(Es)and evapotranspiration of winter wheat(Triticum aestivum L.)under adequate drip irrigation in North China Plain(NCP).The results revealed that straw mulching affected air temperature(T_(a))and dew point temperature(T_(d))near the soil surface but had little effect on relative humidity(RH)compared with non-mulched fields.Straw mulching increased the turbulent exchange coefficient(K),and K within the canopy was higher than that above the canopy.Straw mulching clearly increased the sensible heat flux(H)distribution in April-June,and part of the energy needed for evapotranspiration was provided by transfer from the warmer air aloft.There was a linear functional relationship between H and T_(a)measured above and within the canopy.The straw mulching decreased Es but increased crop transpiration(T).Mulched treatment(TM)can decrease the total irrigation amount by about 7%-15%compared with the non-mulched treatment(TN).There were no significant differences(p>0.05)in cumulative crop evapotranspiration(ETc)between TM and TN treatments under adequate drip irrigation,and the use of mulch may need to be combined with an optimal deficit drip irrigation schedule for managing the declining water table in NCP. | Jiandong Wang Yanqun Zhang Shihong Gong Di Xu Richard Snyder Yanyu Chen Yuefen Zhao Qinghong Yan | 2018 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2018,11,2: | 0 |
