High-efficiency breeding of early-maturing rice cultivars via CRISPR/Cas9-mediated genome editing显示文摘Rice is a staple food for more than half of the human population. It has been estimated that by 2030,40%more rice needs to be produced in order to meet the growing demand(Khush,2005).One of the strategies to improve rice productivity is to enlarge rice | Xiufeng Li Wenjia Zhou Yuekun Ren Xiaojie Tian Tianxiao Lv Zhenyu Wang Jun Fang Chengcai Chu Jie Yang Qingyun Bu | 2017 | Journal of Genetics and Genomics2017,44,3: | 20
Radiotherapy in combination with systemic therapies for brain metastases:current status and progress显示文摘Brain metastases(BMs)are the most common cause of intracranial neoplasms in adults with poor prognosis. Most BMs originate from lung cancer, breast cancer,or melanoma.Radiotherapy(RT),including whole brain radiotherapy(WBRT)and stereotactic radiation surgery(SRS),has been widely explored and is considered a mainstay anticancer treatment for BMs.Over the past decade, the advent of novel systemic therapies has revolutionized the treatment of BMs.In this context, there is a strong rationale for using a combination of treatments based on RT,with the aim of achieving both local disease control and extracranial disease control. This review focuses on describing the latest progress in RT as well as the synergistic effects of the optimal combinations of RT and systemic treatment modalities for BMs,to provide perspectives on current treatments. | Lei Liu Wanqi Chen Ruopeng Zhang Yuekun Wang Penghao Liu Xin Lian Fuquan Zhang Yu Wang Wenbin Ma | 2020 | Cancer Biology & Medicine2020,17,4: | 5
Namib desert beetle inspired special patterned fabric with programmable and gradient wettability for efficient fog harvesting显示文摘Efficient collection of water from fog provides a potential solution to solve the global freshwater shortage problem, particularly in the desert or arid regions. In this work, a flexible and highly efficient fog collector was prepared by mimicking the back exoskeleton structure of the Namib desert beetle. The improved fog collector was constructed by a superhydrophobic-superhydrophilic patterned fabric via a simple weaving method, followed by in-situ deposition of copper particles. Compared with the conventional fog collector with a plane structure, the fabric has shown a higher water-harvesting rate at 1432.7 mg/h/cm2,owing to the biomimetic three-dimensional structure, its enhanced condensation performance enabled by the copper coating and the rational distribution of wetting units. The device construction makes use of the widely available textile materials through mature manufacturing technology, which makes it highly suitable for large-scale industrial production. | Zhihua Yu Huimei Zhang Jianying Huang Shuhui Li Songnan Zhang Yan Cheng Jiajun Mao Xiuli Dong Shouwei Gao Shanchi Wang Zhong Chen Yaoxing Jiang Yuekun Lai | 2021 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,2: | 5
Oryza sativa mediator subunit OsMED25 interacts with OsBZR1 to regulate brassinosteroid signaling and plant architecture in rice显示文摘Brassinosteroids(BRs)are plant-specific steroid hormones which regulate plant growth, development, and adaptation.Transcriptional regulation plays key roles in plant hormone signaling.A mediator can serve as a bridge between gene-specific transcription factors and the RNA polymerase machinery, functioning as an essential component in regulating the transcriptional process. However, whether a mediator is involved in BR signaling is unknown. Here,we discovered that Oryza sativa mediator subunit 25(Os MED25)is an important regulator of rice BR signaling.Phenotypic analyses showed that the Os MED25-RNAi and osmed25 mutant presented erect leaves,as observed in BR-deficient mutants. In addition, the Os MED25-RNAi and osmed25 mutant exhibited decreased BR sensitivity.Genetic analysis indicated that Os MED25-RNAi could suppress the enhanced BR signaling phenotype of Osbzr1-D.Further biochemical analysis showed that Os MED25 interacts with Os BZR1 in vivo, and Os MED25 is enriched on the promoter of Os BZR1 target genes.RNA sequencing analysis indicated that Os MED25 affects the expression of approximately 45%of Os BZR1-regulated genes and mainly functions as a corepressor of Os BZR1.Together,these findings revealed that Os MED25 regulates rice BR signaling by interacting with Os BZR1 and modulating the expression of Os BZR1 target genes, thus expanding our understanding of the roles of mediators in plant hormone signaling. | Yuekun Ren Xiaojie Tian Shuyu Li Enyang Mei Mingliang He Jiaqi Tang Min Xu Xiufeng Li Zhenyu Wang Chuanyou Li Qingyun Bu | 2020 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2020,62,6: | 3
Leakage tests of the stainless steel vessels of the antineutrino detectors in the Daya Bay reactor neutrino experiment显示文摘The antineutrino detectors for the Daya Bay reactor neutrino experiment are liquid scintillator detectors designed to detect electron anti-neutrino via inverse beta interactions with high efficiency and low backgrounds.Since the antineutrino detector will be installed and immerged in water Cherenkov detector and will run for 3 to 5 years, water tightness is critical to the successful operation of the antineutrino detectors.A special seal technique was used for this purpose.Three leak checking methods have been employed to ensure the seal quality. This paper describes the sealing method and leakage testing results. | CHEN XiaoHui LUO XiaoLan HENG YueKun WANG LingShu TANG Xiao MA XiaoYan ZHUANG HongLin BAND Henry R. | 6 | Hydroxyapatite-modified micro/nanostructured titania surfaces with different crystalline phases for osteoblast regulation显示文摘Surface structures and physicochemical properties critically influence osseointegration of titanium(Ti)implants.Previous studies have shown that the surface with both micro-and nanoscale roughness may provide multiple features comparable to cell dimensions and thus efficiently regulate cell-material interaction. However, less attention has been made to further optimize the physicochemical properties(e.g.,crystalline phase)and to further improve the bioactivity of micro/nanostructured surfaces.Herein,micro/nanostructured titania surfaces with different crystalline phases(amorphous, anatase and anatase/rutile)were prepared and hydroxyapatite(HA)nanorods were deposited onto the as-prepared surfaces by a spin-assisted layer-by-layer assembly method without greatly altering the initial multi-scale morphology and wettability. The effects of crystalline phase, chemical composition and wettability on osteoblast response were investigated. It is noted that all the micro/nanostructured surfaces with/without HA modification presented superamphiphilic. The activities of MC3T3-E1 cells suggested that the proliferation trend on the micro/nanostructured surfaces was greatly influenced by different crystalline phases, and the highest proliferation rate was obtained on the anatase/rutile surface, followed by the anatase;but the cell differentiation and extracellular matrix mineralization were almost the same among them. After ultrathin HA modification on the micro/nanostructured surfaces with different crystalline phases,it exhibited similar proliferation trend as the original surfaces;however, the cell differentiation and extracellular matrix mineralization were significantly improved. The results indicate that the introduction of ultrathin HA to the micro/nanostructured surfaces with optimized crystalline phase benefits cell proliferation, differentiation and maturation, which suggests a favorable biomimetic microenvironment and provides the potential for enhanced implant osseointegration in vivo. | Pinliang Jiang Yanmei Zhang Ren Hu Xiankuan Wang Yuekun Lai Gang Rui Changjian Lin | 2021 | Bioactive Materials2021,6,4: | 2

Experimental investigation on the reformation and strength weakening of hard limestone by acidizing显示文摘Several derivative disasters such as ground pressure disasters and methane explosions can be caused by the hard roof in coal mines. For limestone roofs with fine integrity and extreme hardness, collapse is difficult and the effect of conventional roof control methods is limited.Acidizing reformation is an effective way to weaken the strength of roof strata based on acid-rock reaction. In this study, the rock strength damage law and acid reaction characteristics were tested by the limestone acidification experiment.Besides, the strength degradation mechanism of limestone under the acidity effect was analyzed. The results show that the acid corrosion characteristics of limestone are obvious,as numerous mineral grains generate voids under the effects of acid corrosion, and more defects are formed inside. The acid-rock reaction is the most intense at the early stage and then gradually reaches dynamic equilibrium, and the acid corrosion rate of limestone is 4.24%(10%HCl,360 min). The hard limestone is damaged after acidification.Furthermore, the internal cracks can be induced to rapid initiation and unstable propagation under load, which reduces the strain required for rock failure by 33.33%.The failure morphology is more complicated, and the uniaxial compressive strength and elastic modulus decrease by 52.42%and 34.44%respectively.The strength weakening of hard roof after acidification is due to the defects such as intergranular cracking caused by the corrosion of rock crystals under acidity effect, which accelerate the initiation and propagation of internal cracks with external force.Macroscopically, acidification induced the deterioration of rock mechanical properties by reforming the roof structure. The feasibility of acidizing reformation method to control hard roof is confirmed in this study. | Bingxiang Huang Mingxiao Hou Xinglong Zhao Yuekun Xing | 2022 | International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2022,32,5: | 2
Mannose antagonizes GSDME-mediated pyroptosis through AMPK activated by metabolite GlcNAc-6P显示文摘Pyroptosis is a type of regulated cell death executed by gasdermin family members. However, how gasdermin-mediated pyroptosis is negatively regulated remains unclear. Here,we demonstrate that mannose,a hexose, inhibits GSDME-mediated pyroptosis by activating AMP-activated protein kinase(AMPK).Mechanistically, mannose metabolism in the hexosamine biosynthetic pathway increases levels of the metabolite N-acetylglucosamine-6-phosphate(GlcNAc-6P),which binds AMPK to facilitate AMPK phosphorylation by LKB1.Activated AMPK then phosphorylates GSDME at Thr6,which leads to blockade of caspase-3-induced GSDME cleavage, thereby repressing pyroptosis. The regulatory role of AMPK-mediated GSDME phosphorylation was further confirmed in AMPK knockout and GSDME^(T6E) or GSDME^(T6A) knock-in mice.In mouse primary cancer models, mannose administration suppressed pyroptosis in small intestine and kidney to alleviate cisplatin-or oxaliplatin-induced tissue toxicity without impairing antitumor effects. The protective effect of mannose was also verified in a small group of patients with gastrointestinal cancer who received normal chemotherapy. Our study reveals a novel mechanism whereby mannose antagonizes GSDME-mediated pyroptosis through GlcNAc-6P-mediated activation of AMPK,and suggests the utility of mannose supplementation in alleviating chemotherapy-induced side effects in clinic applications. | Yuan-li Ai Wei-jia Wang Fan-jian Liu Wei Fang Hang-zi Chen Liu-zheng Wu Xuehui Hong Yuekun Zhu Ci-xiong Zhang Long-yu Liu Wen-bin Hong Bo Zhou Qi-tao Chen Qiao Wu | 2023 | Cell Research2023,33,12: | 2

Durable easy-cleaning and antibacterial cotton fabrics using fluorine-free silane coupling agents and CuO nanoparticles显示文摘Multifunctional fabrics of high durability through a scalable and eco-friendly technique remains a great challenge hindering their commercialization. In this work,we report a facile synthesis technique for the fabrication of superhydrophobic antibacterial fabrics by employing fluorine-free silane coupling agents as cross-linkers for enhanced durability.Three silane cross-linkers,Aminoethylaminopropyltrimethoxysilane(AEAPTMS),Aminopropyltriethoxysilane(APTES),and Methacryloyloxypropyltrimethoxysilane(MPTMS),have been investigated.During the fabrication,a low surface energy polymer, polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS)was first deposited on cotton fabrics.Subsequently, antibacterial copper oxide(CuO)nanoparticles were anchored on the PDMS coated fabrics using the silane cross-linkers.The as-prepared fabrics displayed high superhydrophobicity and antibacterial performance with water contact angle(WCA)>153,water shedding angle(WSA)<5,and up to 99%antibacterial efficiency.Additionally, the as-prepared fabrics displayed high durability against abrasion, ultrasonic washing, and soaking in harsh chemical environments. The air permeability and flexibility of the fabric was not compromised after the coating. The above-reported technique is simple,cost-effective and holds tremendous potential for large-scale production of energy-saving clothing and healthcare products. | Neha Agrawal Pearlie Sijia Low Jasmine Si Jia Tan Eileen Wen Mei Fong Yuekun Lai Zhong Chen | 2020 | Nano Materials Science2020,2,3: | 2

Fluorocarbon paint on Daya Bay antineutrino detectors显示文摘The aim of the Daya Bay reactor antineutrino experiment is to determine the neutrino mixing angle 13 with a sensitivity of 0.01 or better at 90% confidence level. In order to improve the position resolution of both the positron interaction and the neutron capture, the inside of the antineutrino detectors should be as unreflecting as possible.A black matt fluorocarbon paint is coated on the inner surface of the detectors made of 304L stainless steel to meet the physical requirement. This paint is compatible with mineral oil,has low radioactivity,is easy to spray and fast curing at normal temperatures. The coating has excellent performance such as good adhesive force, uniformity, compact, scratch and wear resistance, and so on.It is the first application of such paint to large physical devices. | WANG RuiGuang HENG YueKun WANG Lan DING YaYun CAO Jun WANG YiFang YANG ChangGen | 2012 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2012,55,6: | 1
