2Sufficient or insufficient: Assessment of the intended nationally determined contributions (INDCs) of the world's major greenhouse gas emitters显示文摘The recent Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change has resulted in the submission of the Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDCs) of 190 countries. This study aims to provide an analysis of the ambitiousness and fairness of the mitigation components of the INDCs submitted by various parties. We use a unified framework to assess 23 INDCs that cover 50 countries, including European Union (EU)-28 countries as parties to the Convention, which represent 87.45% of the global greenhouse gas emissions in 2012. First, we transform initial INDC files into reported reduction targets. Second, we create four schemes and six scenarios to determine the required reduction effort, which considers each nation's reduction responsibility, capacity, and potential, thereby reflecting their historical and current development status. Finally, we combine the reported reduction target and the required reduction effort to assess INDCs. Evaluation results of the 23 emitters indicate that 2 emitters (i.e., EU and Brazil) are rated as 'sufficient,' 7 emitters (e.g., China, the United States, and Canada) are rated as 'moderate,' and 14 emitters (e.g., India, Russia, and Japan) are rated as 'insufficient.' 3Comparative studies on fouling of homogeneous anion exchange membranes by different structured organics in electrodialysis显示文摘Five negatively charged organic compounds with different structures, sodium methane sulfonate(MS), sodium benzene sulfonate(BS), sodium 6-hydroxynaphthalene-2-sulfonate(NSS), sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDS), and sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate(SDBS), were used to examine the fouling of an anion exchange membrane(AEM) in electrodialysis(ED),to explore the effect of molecular characteristics on the fouling behavior on the AEM and changes in the surface and electrochemical properties of the AEM. Results indicated that the fouling degree of the AEM by the different organics followed the order:SDBS > SDS > NSS > BS > MS. SDBS and SDS formed a dense fouling layer on the surface of the AEM, which was the main factor in the much more severe membrane fouling, and completely restricted the transmembrane ion migration. The other three organics caused fouling of the AEM by adsorption on the surface and/or accumulation in the interlayer of the AEM, and exhibited almost no influence on the transmembrane ion migration. 5Effect of formulation variables on in vitro release of a water-soluble drug from chitosanesodium alginate matrix tablets显示文摘The objective of this study is to investigate the feasibility of using chitosanesodium alginate(CSeSA)based matrix tablets for extended-release of highly water-soluble drugs by changing formulation variables.Using trimetazidine hydrochloride(TH)as a water-soluble model drug,influence of dissolution medium,the amount of CSeSA,the CS:SA ratio,the type of SA,the type and amount of diluents,on in vitro drug release from CSeSA based matrix tablets were studied.Drug release kinetics and release mechanisms were elucidated.In vitro release experiments were conducted in simulated gastric fluid(SGF)followed by simulated intestinal fluid(SIF).Drug release rate decreased with the increase of CSeSA amount.CS:SA ratio had only slight effect on drug release and no influence of SA type on drug release was found.On the other hand,a large amount of water-soluble diluents could modify drug release profiles.It was found that drug release kinetics showed the best fit to Higuchi equation with Fickian diffusion as the main release mechanism.In conclusion,this study demonstrated that it is possible to design extended-release tablets of watersoluble drugs using CSeSA as the matrix by optimizing formulation components,and provide better understanding about drug release from CSeSA matrix tablets.Liang Li Jinfeng Li Shanshan Si Linlin Wang Chenjun Shi Yujiao Sun Zhenglin Liang Shirui Mao 2015Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences2015,10,4:2
6Redox-active conjugated microporous polymers as electron-accepting organic pseudocapacitor electrode materials for flexible energy storage显示文摘Efficient energy storage devices,i.e.pseudocapacitors,are being intensively pursued to address the environmental and energy crises.Most high-performance pseudocapacitors are based on inorganic materials,while organic materials with broader synthetic tunability have attracted increasing interest.Despite recent progress,electron-deficient(n-type)organic pseudocapacitive materials for flexible energy storage are highly demanded yet remain largely unexplored.Here a novel set of n-type perylene diimide(PDI)based conjugated microporous polymers(CMPs),namely,CMP-1,CMP-2 and CMP-3,have been created to integrate excellent desirable characteristics as organic pseudocapacitor electrode materials for flexible energy storage.In light of electron-accepting redox-active sites,hierarchically porous structures,as well as amide-linked networks,the PDI-CMPs electrodes displayed n-type pseudocapacitive behaviors with high capacity(139-205 F g^(-1)at 0.5 A g^(-1)),wide and negative biases(-1.0 to 0 V vs.Ag/AgCl),and long cycling stability.CMP-3 consisting of tetraphenylmethane three-dimensional(3D)building block and PDI units demonstrates not only higher capacitance but also better performance stability because of the higher specific surface area and faster diffusion kinetics as compared to its counterpart CMP-1.Asymmetric supercapacitors(SCs)based on CMP-3 and poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)-poly(styrenesulfonate)(PEDOT/PSS)exhibited wider potential window(1.8 V)and higher capacitance(17.4 m F cm^(-2))compared with symmetric SCs based on PEDOT/PSS electrodes.Notably,CMP-3 also demonstrates attractive potentials as the anode for rechargeable Li-ion batteries.The study sheds light on the fundamental understanding of the key structural parameters that determine their electrochemical and transport properties,thus opening a new door for the rational design of efficient and stable n-type organic electrode materials for flexible energy storage applications.Xu Liu Gengzhi Sun Yujiao Gong Cheng-Fang Liu Shi Wang Shihao Xu Xuanli Yang Lei Yang Wen-Yong Lai 2022Science China Chemistry2022,65,9:2
7Vacancy-defect-dipole amplifies the thermoacoustic conversion efficiency of carbon nanoprobes显示文摘The immense potential of carbon nanoprobes(CNPs)for using as contrast agents has propelled much recent research and development in the field of thermoacoustic(TA)molecular imaging,while the proper engineering and design of such materials with required high TA conversion efficiency is still a highly challenging task.In this work,we proposed a controllable strategy to amplify the TA conversion efficiency of the CNPs by constructing vacancy defect(VD)dipoles,and systematically demonstrated the amplification mechanism through theoretical and experimental investigations.First-principles calculation results indicate that,when a carbon atom is removed from the CNPs by chemical approach,owing to local electron density redistribution,the VDs are formed at the positions of the original carbon atoms and act as the structural origin of permanent electric dipoles with the dipole moment several orders higher than that of non-defect sites.Under pulsed microwave irradiation,the VD dipoles are polarized repeatedly and significantly contribute to the conversion efficiency from absorbed electromagnetic waves to ultrasound through enhanced dielectric relaxation losses.We experimentally synthesized graphene samples with different VD densities and VD types to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed strategy,and results coincide well with the theoretical proposition.This work offers feasible guidance to the systematic development and rational design of new high-conversion-efficiency TA CNPs via VD engineering.Wei Fang Yujiao Shi Da Xing 2020Nano Research2020,13,9:2

10Collagen fiber anisotropy characterization by polarized photoacoustic imaging for just-in-time quantitative evaluation of burn severity显示文摘Just-in-time burn severity assessment plays a vital role in burn treatment and care.However,it is still difficult to quantitatively and promptly evaluate burn severity by existing medical imaging methods via initial burn depth measurement since burn wounds are usually dynamically developed.As an elastic skeleton of skin,the degree of conformational changes of collagen fibers caused by overheating can reflect the burn severity in a timelier manner.Herein,the polarized photoacoustic technique(PPAT)for just-in-time quantitative evaluation of burn severity via collagen fiber anisotropy assessment is proposed.First,phantom experiments demonstrate the ability of PPAT for deep imaging in a transport mean free path and accurately quantify changes in microstructural order by thermal damage.Then,the Pearson correlation coefficient of the PPAT in assessing burn severity is shown to be up to 0.95,validated by burn skin samples.The PPAT provides a just-in-time quantitative strategy for burn severity evaluation.ZHENHUI ZHANG WEI CHEN DANDAN CUI JIE MI GEN MU LIMING NIE SIHUA YANG YUJIAO SHI 2023Photonics Research2023,11,5:0
11Photoacoustic viscoelasticity imaging for the detection of acute hepatitis:a feasibility study显示文摘Biomechanical assessments are essential for the understanding of physiological states and the char-acterization of certain tissue pathologies such as liver cirrhosis.In this work,we showed by the photoacoustic viscoelasticity(PAVE)imaging that obvious mechanical change was also observed in the development of the acute hepatitis owing to the hepatocyte enlargement and intracellular fluid increment,indicating that the PAVE technique can be developed as a supplementary method for detecting acute hepatitis in future.The feasibility of the PAVE imaging is validated by a group of agar phantoms.Furthermore,acute hepatitis pathological animal models were established and imaged ex vivo and in situ by the PAVE technique to demonstrate its capability for the mechanical character-ization of acute hepatitis,and the imaging results were consistent with pathological results.The fea-sibility study of detecting acute hepatitis by the PAVE technique proved that this method has potential to be developed as a clinical biomechanical imaging method to supplement current clinical strategy for liver disease detection.Qian Wang Yujiao Shi 2020Biophysics Reports2020,6,1:0
12Photoacoustic viscoelasticity imaging dedicated to mechanical characterization of biological tissues显示文摘Since changes in mechanical properties of biological tissues are often closely related to pathology,the viscoelastic properties are important physical parameters for medical diagnosis.A photoacoustic(PA)phase-resolved method for noninvasively characterizing the biological tissue viscoelasticity has been proposed by Gao et al.[G.Gao,S.Yang,D.Xing,\Viscoelasticity imaging of biological tissues with phase-resolved photoacoustic measurement,'Opt.Lett.36,3341–3343(2011)].The mathematical relationship between the PA phase delay and the viscosity–elasticity ratio has been theoretically deduced.Moreover,systems of PA viscoelasticity(PAVE)imaging including PAVE microscopy and PAVE endoscopy were developed,and high-PA-phase contrast images re°ecting the tissue viscoelasticity information have been successfully achieved.The PAVE method has been developed in tumor detection,atherosclerosis characterization and related vascular endoscopy.We reviewed the development of the PAVE technique and its applications in biomedical¯elds.It is believed that PAVE imaging is of great potential in both biomedical applications and clinical studies.Yujiao Shi Fen Yang Qian Wang 2017Journal of Innovative Optical Health Sciences2017,,4:0
13Establishment of probabilistic model for Salmonella Enteritidis growth and inactivation under acid and osmotic pressure显示文摘The growth and survival characteristic of Salmonella Enteritidis under acidic and osmotic conditions were studied.Meanwhile,a probabilistic model based on the theory of cell division and mortality was established to predict the growth or inactivation of S.Enteritidis.The experimental results demonstrated that the growth curves of planktonic and detached cells showed a significant difference(p<0.05)under four conditions,including pH5.0+0.0%NaCl,pH7.0+4.0%NaCl,pH6.0+4.0%NaCl,and pH5.0+4.0%NaCl.And the established primary and secondary models could describe the growth of S.enteritis well by estimating four mathematics evaluation indexes,including determination coefficient(R2),root mean square error(RMSE),accuracy factor(Af)and bias factor(Bf).Moreover,sequential treatment of 15%NaCl stress followed by pH 4.5 stress was the best condition to inactivate S.Enteritidis in 10 h at 25◦C.The probabilistic model with Logistical or Weibullian form could also predict the inactivation of S.Enteritidis well,thus realize the unification of predictive model to some extent or generalization of inactivation model.Furthermore,the primary 4-parameter probabilistic model or generalized inactivation model had slightly higher applicability and reliability to describe the growth or inactivation of S.Enteritidis than Baranyi model or exponential inactivation model within the experimental range in this study.Yujiao Shi Hong Liu Baozhang Luo Yangtai Liu Siyuan Yue Qing Liu Qingli Dong 2017Food Science and Human Wellness2017,6,4:0
