3Aspirin alleviates endothelial gap junction dysfunction through inhibition of NLRP3inflammasome activation in LPS-induced vascular injury显示文摘The loss of endothelial connective integrity and endothelial barrier dysfunction can lead to increased vascular injury, which is related to the activation of endothelial inflammasomes. There are evidences that low concentrations of aspirin can effectively prevent cardiovascular diseases. We hypothesized that low-dose aspirin could ameliorate endothelial injury by inhibiting the activation of NLRP3 inflammasomes and ultimately prevent cardiovascular diseases. Microvascular endothelial cells were stimulated by lipopolysaccharide(2 μg/mL) and administrated by 0.1–2 mmol/L aspirin. The wild type mice were stimulated with LPS(100 μg/kg/day), and 1 h later treated with aspirin(12.5, 62.5, or125 mg/kg/day) and dexamethasone(0.0182 mg/kg/day) for 7 days. Plasma and heart were harvested for measurement of ELISA and immunofluorescence analyses. We found that aspirin could inhibit NLRP3 inflammasome formation and activation in vitro in dose-dependent manner and has correlation between the NLRP3 inflammasome and the ROS/TXNIP pathway. We also found that low-concentration aspirin could inhibit the formation and activation of NLRP3 inflammasome and restore the expression of theendothelial tight junction protein zonula occludens-1/2(ZO1/2). 4A Small-Scale Medication of Leflunomide as a Treatment of COVID-19 in an Open-Label Blank-Controlled Clinical Trial显示文摘We recently reported that inhibitors against human dihydroorotate dehydrogenase(DHODH)have broad-spectrum antiviral activities including their inhibitory efficacies on SARS-CoV-2 replication in infected cells.However,there are limited data from clinical studies to prove the application of DHODH inhibitors in Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)patients.In the present study,we evaluated Leflunomide,an approved DHODH inhibitor widely used as a modest immune regulator to treat autoimmune diseases,in treating COVID-19 disease with a small-scale of patients.Cases of 10 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 patients of moderate type with obvious opacity in the lung were included.Five of the patients were treated with Leflunomide,and another five were treated as blank controls without a placebo.All the patients accepted standard supportive treatment for COVID-19.The patients given Leflunomide had a shorter viral shedding time(median of5 days)than the controls(median of 11 days,P=0.046).The patients given Leflunomide also showed a significant reduction in C-reactive protein levels,indicating that immunopathological inflammation was well controlled.No obvious adverse effects were observed in Leflunomide-treated patients,and they all discharged from the hospital faster than controls.This preliminary study on a small-scale compassionate use of Leflunomide provides clues for further understanding of Leflunomide as a potential antiviral drug against COVID-19.Ke Hu Mengmei Wang Yang Zhao Yunting Zhang Tao Wang Zhishui Zheng Xiaochen Li Shaolin Zeng Dong Zhao Honglin Li Ke Xu Ke Lan 2020Virologica Sinica2020,35,6:7
5MYC2, MYC3, and MYC4 function additively in wounding-induced jasmonic acid biosynthesis and catabolism显示文摘Jasmonic acid(JA)plays a critical role in plant defenses against insects and necrotrophic fungi.Wounding or lepidopteran insect feeding rapidly induces a burst of JA in plants,which usually reaches peak values within 1 to 2 h.The induced JA is converted to JA-Ile and perceived by the COI1-JAZ co-receptor,leading to activation of the transcription factors MYC2 and its homologs,which further induce JA-responsive genes.Although much is known about JA biosynthesis and catabolism enzymes and JA signaling,how JA biosynthesis and catabolism are regulated remain unclear.Here,we show that in Arabidopsis thaliana MYC2 functions additively with MYC3 and MYC4 to regulate wounding-induced JA accumulation by directly binding to the promoters of genes function in JA biosynthesis and catabolism to promote their transcription.MYC2 also controls the transcription of JAV1 and JAM1,which are key factors controlling JA biosynthesis and catabolism,respectively.In addition,we also found that MYC2 could bind to the MYC2 promoter and self-inhibit its own expression.This work illustrates the central role of MYC2/3/4 in controlling wounding-induced JA accumulation by regulating the transcription of genes involved in JA biosynthesis and catabolism.Cuiping Zhang Yunting Lei Chengkai Lu Lei Wang Jianqiang Wu 2020Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2020,62,8:6

9Role of the 10–20-Day Oscillation in Sustained Rainstorms over Hainan,China in October 2010显示文摘Hainan, an island province of China in the northern South China Sea, experienced two sustained rainstorms in October2010, which were the most severe autumn rainstorms of the past 60 years. From August to October 2010, the most dominant signal of Hainan rainfall was the 10–20-day oscillation. This paper examines the roles of the 10–20-day oscillation in the convective activity and atmospheric circulation during the rainstorms of October 2010 over Hainan. During both rainstorms,Hainan was near the center of convective activity and under the influence of a lower-troposphere cyclonic circulation. The convective center was initiated in the west-central tropical Indian Ocean several days prior to the rainstorm in Hainan. The convective center first propagated eastward to the maritime continent, accompanied by the cyclonic circulation, and then moved northward to the northern South China Sea and South China, causing the rainstorms over Hainan. 10Self-thinning lines and allometric relation in Chinese fir(Cunninghamia lanceolata) stands显示文摘We calculated a self-thinning exponent of 1.05 for tree mass using the 3/2 power equation in 93 Cunninghamia lanceolata plots.According to Weller's allometric model,the self-thinning exponent for tree mass was calculated as 1.28 from the allometric exponents h and d.The both self-thinning exponents were significantly lower than 3/2.The self-thinning exponent of organs was estimated to be 1.42 for stems,0.93 for branches,0.96 for leaves,1.35 for roots and 1.28 for shoots,respectively.The self-thinning exponent of stem mass was not significantly different from 3/2,whereas thinning exponents of trees,branches,leaves and roots were significantly lower than 3/2.The stand leaf mass and stand branch mass were constant regardless of the stand density.The scaling relations among branch,leaf,stem,root and shoot mass(MB,ML,MS,MR and MA,respectively) showed that MB and ML scaled as the3/4 power of MS,whereas MS or MA scaled isometrically with respect to MR.Li Xue Xiaoli Hou Qiujing Li Yunting Hao 2015Journal of Forestry Research2015,26,2:3
11Variations in leaf carbon isotope composition along an arid and semi-arid grassland transect in northern China显示文摘Aims We aimed to quantify the variation of leafδ^(13)C along an arid and semi-arid grassland transect in northern China.We also evaluated the effects of environmental factors(i.e.precipitation,temperature and altitude)on the spatial variation of leafδ^(13)C in northern grasslands and Tibetan Plateau,China.Method We sampled leaves of plant species belonging to three herb genera(Stipa spp.,Leymus spp.and Cleistogenes spp.)and three shrub genera(Caragana spp.,Reaumuria spp.and Nitraria spp.)for carbon isotope analysis from 50 locations along a 3200-km arid and semiarid grassland transect in northern China.Leafδ^(13)C data in Tibetan Plateau and northern grasslands in China were also compiled from studies in literature.Important Findings Along the transect,leafδ^(13)C for C_(3)plants ranged from−28.0‰to−23.3‰,and from−16.3‰to−13.8‰for C_(4)plant Cleistogenes spp..The change in leafδ^(13)C ranged from−0.26‰to−3.51‰with every 100 mm increase of annual precipitation,and leafδ^(13)C of shrubs(Nitraria spp.,Reaumuria spp.and Caragana spp.)responded more markedly to climatic factors(precipitation and temperature)than that of herbs(Stipa spp.,Leymus spp.and Cleistogenes spp.),indicating higher sensitivity of shrubδ^(13)C to climatic changes.The most important factor regulating spatial variations of leafδ^(13)C in Tibetan Plateau was altitude,while it was precipitation in northern grasslands.Our results suggested that shrubs are more adapted to increasing drought in arid and semi-arid grassland.Controls of environmental factors on leafδ^(13)C depended on the most limiting factors in arid grassland(precipitation)and Tibetan grasslands(atmospheric CO_(2)concentration).Chao Wang Dongwei Liu Wentao Luo Yunting Fang Xiaobo Wang Xiaotao Lü Yong Jiang Xingguo Han Edith Bai 2016Journal of Plant Ecology2016,9,5:3

On this basis, planning support for rural areas in east Sichuan Province was proposed, integrality of the settlement, landscape diversity, landscape integration and sharing were highlighted. It was proposed that local landscape planning should follow the principle of 'human- land coordination', protect and inherit folk cultures of east Sichuan, pay attention to physical and spiritual needs of the locals. 14Elevated CO2 differentially affects tobacco and rice defense against lepidopteran larvae via the jasmonic acid signaling pathway显示文摘Atmospheric CO_2 levels are rapidly increasing due to human activities. However, the effects of elevated CO_2(ECO_2) on plant defense against insects and the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. Here we show that ECO_2 increased the photosynthetic rates and the biomass of tobacco and rice plants, and the chewing lepidopteran insects Spodoptera litura and Mythimna separata gained less and more mass on tobacco and rice plants, respectively. Consistently, under ECO_2, the levels of jasmonic acid(JA), the main phytohormone controlling plant defense against these lepidopteran insects, as well as the main defense-related metabolites, were increased and decreased in insectdamaged tobacco and rice plants. Importantly, bioassaysand quantification of defense-related metabolites in tobacco and rice silenced in JA biosynthesis and perception indicate that ECO_2 changes plant resistance mainly by affecting the JA pathway. We further demonstrate that the defensive metabolites, but not total N or protein, are the main factors contributing to the altered defense levels under ECO_2. 17Natural variations of ZmSRO1d modulate the trade-off between drought resistance and yield by affecting ZmRBOHC-mediated stomatal ROS production in maize显示文摘While crop yields have historically increased,drought resistance has become a major concern in the context of global climate change.The trade-off between crop yield and drought resistance is a common phenomenon;however,the underlying molecular modulators remain undetermined.Through genome-wide association study,we revealed that three non-synonymous variants in a drought-resistant allele of ZmSRO1d-R resulted in plasma membrane localization and enhanced mono-ADP-ribosyltransferase activity of ZmSRO1d toward ZmRBOHC,which increased reactive oxygen species(ROS)levels in guard cells and promoted stomatal closure.ZmSRO1d-R enhanced plant drought resilience and protected grain yields under drought conditions,but it led to yield drag under favorable conditions.In contrast,loss-of-function mutants of ZmRBOHC showed remarkably increased yields under well-watered conditions,whereas they showed compromised drought resistance.Interestingly,by analyzing 189 teosinte accessions,we found that the ZmSRO1d-R allele was present in teosinte but was selected against during maize domestication and modern breeding.Collectively,our work suggests that the allele frequency reduction of ZmSRO1d-R in breeding programs may have compromised maize drought resistance while increased yields.Therefore,introduction of the ZmSRO1d-R allele into modern maize cultivars would contribute to food security under drought stress caused by global climate change.Huajian Gao Junjun Cui Shengxue Liu Shuhui Wang Yongyan Lian Yunting Bai Tengfei Zhu Haohao Wu Yijie Wang Shiping Yang Xuefeng Li Junhong Zhuang Limei Chen Zhizhong Gong Feng Qin 2022Molecular Plant2022,15,10:2
18Volatile organic compounds concentration profiles and control strategy in container manufacturing industry:Case studies in China显示文摘Volatile organic compounds(VOCs),important precursors of ozone(O_(3))and fine particulate matter(PM_(2.5)),are the key to curb the momentum of O_(3)growth and further reducing PM_(2.5)in China.Container manufacturing industry is one of the major VOC emitters,and more than 96%containers of the world are produced in China,with the annual usage of coatings of over 200,000 tons in recent years.This is the first research on the emission characteristics of VOCs in Chinese container manufacturing industry,including concentration and ozone formation potential(OFP)of each species.The result shows that the largest amounts of VOCs are emitted during the pretreatment process,followed by the paint mixing process and primer painting process,and finally other sprays process.The average VOC concentrations in the workshops,the exhausts before treatment and the exhausts after treatment are ranging from 82.67–797.46,170–1,812.65,66.20–349.63 mg/m^(3),respectively.Benzenes,alcohols and ethers are main species,which contribute more than 90%OFP together.Based on the emission characteristics of VOCs and the technical feasibility,it is recommended to set the emission limit in standard of benzene to 1.0 mg/m^(3),toluene to 10 mg/m^(3),xylene to 20 mg/m^(3),benzenes to 40 mg/m^(3),alcohols and ethers to 50 mg/m^(3),and VOCs to 100 mg/m^(3).The study reports the industry emission characteristics and discusses the standard limits,which is a powerful support to promote VOCs emission reduction,and to promote the coordinated control of PM_(2.5)and O_(3)pollution.Yunting Ke Ruiyuan Liu Xiaofang Chen Yang Feng Ping Gao Haomin Huang Liya Fan Daiqi Ye 2021Journal of Environmental Sciences2021,33,6:2
19Long-term cross-border electricity trading model under the background of Global Energy Interconnection显示文摘Environmental problems caused by traditional power production and the unbalanced distribution of energy resources and demand limit the development of sustainable societies. A feasible method to optimize the resource allocation has been proposed, and it involves cross-border and cross-regional electricity transactions. However, the uncertainty of renewable energy and the specific features of the cross-border electricity market are key issues which need to be considered in the trading mechanism design. Based on this, this paper sets up a long-term cross-border electricity trading model considering the uncertainty of renewable energy. First, annual transactions are matched according to the declared data of bidders with consideration of cross-border interconnection development benefits, potential benefit risks, and transmission costs. Second, for annual contract decomposition, the model uses the minimum generation cost function with a penalty item for power shortages to allocate electricity to each month. Additionally, the scenario reduction algorithm is combined with the unit commitment to construct a stochastic generation plan.
