| 1 | Estimation of wind erosion rates by using ^(137)Cs tracing technique:A case study in Tariat-Xilin Gol transect, Mongolian Plateau显示文摘Wind erosion is one of the major environmental problems in semi-arid and arid regions. Here we es- tablished the Tariat-Xilin Gol transect from northwest to southeast across the Mongolian Plateau, and selected seven sampling sites along the transect. We then estimated the soil wind erosion rates by using the ^(137)Cs tracing technique and examined their spatial dynamics. Our results showed that the ^(137)Cs inventories of sampling sites ranged from 265.63±44.91 to 1279.54±166.53 Bq·m^(-2), and the wind erosion rates varied from 64.58 to 419.63 t·km^(-2)·a^(-1) accordingly. In the Mongolia section of the transect (from Tariat to Sainshand), the wind erosion rate increased gradually with vegetation type and climatic regimes; the wind erosion process was controlled by physical factors such as annual precipitation and vegetation coverage, etc., and the impact of human activities was negligible. While in the China section of the transect (Inner Mongolia), the wind erosion rates of Xilin Hot and Zhengxiangbai Banner were thrice as much as those of Bayannur of Mongolia, although these three sites were all dominated by typical steppe. | 2 | Anti-inflammatory activity of curcumin-loaded tetrahedral framework nucleic acids on acute gouty arthritis显示文摘Gouty arthritis is a very familiar inflammatory arthritis.Controlling inflammation is the key to preventing gouty arthritis.However,colchicine,the most highly represented drug used in clinical practice,has strict contraindications owing to some severe side effects.Curcumin(Cur),a natural anti-inflammatory drug,has demonstrated good safety and efficacy.However,the rapid degradation,poor aqueous solubility,and low bioavailability of Cur limit its therapeutic effect.To strengthen the effectiveness and bioavailability of Cur.Cur loaded tetrahedral framework nucleic acids(Cur-TFNAs)were synthesized to deliver Cur.Compared with free Cur,Cur-TFNAs exhibit a preferable drug stability,good biocompatibility(CCK-8 assay),ease of uptake(immunofluorescence),and higher tissue utilization(in vivo biodistribution).Most importantly,Cur-TFNAs present better anti-inflammatory effect than free Cur both in vivo and in vitro experiments through the determination of inflammation-related cytokines expression.Therefore,we believe that Cur-TFNAs have great prospects for the prevention of gout and similar inflammatory diseases. | Mei Zhang Xiaolin Zhang Taoran Tian Qi Zhang Yuting Wen Junyao Zhu Dexuan Xiao Weitong Cui Yunfeng Lin | 2022 | Bioactive Materials2022,7,2: | 10 |
| 3 | Using ^(137)Cs tracing technique to estimate wind erosion rates in the typical steppe region, northern Mongolian Plateau显示文摘Wind erosion is one of the major factors of land degradation in the typical steppe region, northern Mongolian Plateau. Using 137Cs tracing technique, we estimated the wind erosion rates of different pastures and abandoned farmland at Bayannur and Karakorum in Mongolia. The pastures and cutting grassland at Bayannur were slightly eroded by wind, with the rates of 64.58-169.07 t·km?2·a?1. The abandoned farmland in Karakorum, however, was strongly eroded by wind, with annual surface soil loss of 4.05 mm·a?1, and wind erosion rates up to 6723.06 t·km?2·a?1. The total loss of surface soil due to wind erosion has been 17.4 cm since the cultivation of the steppe land in the 1960s. The wind ero- sion rate at the abandoned farmland was much higher than that at the typical steppe sites, showing that the cultivation led to serious wind erosion in the typical steppe region, northern Mongolian Plateau. | 4 | Endothelial METRNL determines circulating METRNL level and maintains endothelial function against atherosclerosis显示文摘METRNL is a recently identified secreted protein with emerging functions.This study is to find major cellular source of circulating METRNL and to determine METRNL novel function.Here,we show METRNL is abundant in human and mouse vascular endothelium and released by endothelial cells using endoplasmic reticulum-Golgi apparatus pathway.By creating endothelial cell-specific Metrnl knockout mice,combined with bone marrow transplantation to produce bone marrow-specific deletion of Metrnl,we demonstrate that most of circulating METRNL(approximately 75%)originates from the endothelial cells.Both endothelial and circulating METRNL decrease in atherosclerosis mice and patients.By generating endothelial cell-specific Metrnl knockout in apolipoprotein E-deficient mice,combined with bone marrow-specific deletion of Metrnl in apolipoprotein E-deficient mice,we further demonstrate that endothelial METRNL deficiency accelerates atherosclerosis.Mechanically,endothelial METRNL deficiency causes vascular endothelial dysfunction including vasodilation impairment via reducing eNOS phosphorylation at Ser1177 and inflammation activation via enhancing NFκB pathway,which promotes the susceptibility of atherosclerosis.Exogenous METRNL rescues METRNL deficiency induced endothelial dysfunction.These findings reveal that METRNL is a new endothelial substance not only determining the circulating METRNL level but also regulating endothelial function for vascular health and disease.METRNL is a therapeutic target against endothelial dysfunction and atherosclerosis. | Sili Zheng Zhiyong Li Jie Song Pin Wang Jian Xu Wenjun Hu Yi Shi Qi Qi Zhuwei Miao Yunfeng Guan Chaoyu Miao | 2023 | Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2023,13,4: | 2 |
| 5 | FEM Simulation of the Hydrogen Diffusion in X80 Pipeline Steel During Stacking for Slow Cooling显示文摘The influence of temperature on the hydrogen diffusion behavior in X80 pipeline steel during stacking for slow cooling was studied using electrochemical penetration method, the temperature field and the hydrogen diffusion in this pipeline steel during stacking for slow cooling were simulated by ABAQUS finite element method(FEM) software. The results show that in this process there is a reciprocal relationship between the natural logarithm of hydrogen diffusion coefficient and temperature. The cooling rate decreases gradually with the increase of steel plate thickness. The hydrogen content is higher at high temperature(500–400 °C) than that in low temperature region(300–100 °C). | 10 | Calculation aided miscibility manipulation enables highly efficient polythiophene:nonfullerene photovoltaic cells显示文摘Polythiophenes,with merits of low cost and high scalability of synthesis,have received growing interest in organic solar cells.To date,the best-performing polythiophene:nonfullerene solar cells exhibit typical power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) of 10%–12%,which is much lower than those employing PM6-and D18-type polymers.This inferior performance is mostly limited by the improper miscibility between polythiophene and acceptors.Efforts on engineering the molecular structure to systematically tune the miscibility are required.With the aid of group contribution calculations,the miscibility of polythiophene:nonfullerene blend system was finely tuned by varying the ratios of siloxane-terminated chains and alkyl chains in ester-substituted polythiophenes through random copolymerization.Based on a series of the polythiophene and nonfullerene acceptors,the detailed analysis of blend miscibility and performance reveals a surprising anticorrelation between the Flory-Huggins interaction parameter (χ_(aa)) and the optimal time of solvent vapor annealing for device performance across these systems.Primarily due to the slightly higher χ_(aa),the blend of PDCBT-Cl-Si5 and ITIC-Th1 results in a record-high PCE of 12.85%in polythiophene:nonfullerene solar cells.The results not only provide a calculation-guided approach for molecular design but also prove that precise control of the miscibility is an effective way to design high-performance polythiophene:nonfullerene blends and beyond. | Qi Wang Miaomiao Li Zhongxiang Peng Nigel Kirby Yunfeng Deng Long Ye Yanhou Geng | 2021 | Science China Chemistry2021,64,3: | 1 |

| 13 | Fabrication of porous scaffolds with protein nanogels显示文摘A novel type of porous scaffold was fabricated from single protein nanogels. The nanogels with single protein as core and crosslinked polymer network as shell were prepared through a two-step procedure including surface acryloylation and in situ radical polymerization. The formation of single protein nanogels was verified by matrix assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight (MALDI-TOF) mass spectrometer, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and dynamic light scattering (DLS) analyses. Subsequently, the porous scaffolds were fabricated through a solvent evaporating process of aqueous nanogel solutions. The porous scaffolds were characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), scanning electronic microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and fluorescence microscopy. Interestingly, the obtained porous nanogel scaffolds presented multi-level porous morphologies with macro and nano scale pores, providing better spaces and microenvironments than normal macro porous scaffolds. Cell proliferation assay of nanogels showed low cytotoxicity.
