| 1 | Modified endoscopic transnasal orbital apex decompression in dysthyroid optic neuropathy显示文摘Background:To describe the surgical technique and assess the clinical efficacy and safety of modified endoscopic transnasal orbital apex decompression in the treatment of dysthyroid optic neuropathy. Methods:In this retrospective research,forty-two subjects(74 orbits)who underwent modified endoscopic transnasal orbital apex decompression for the treatment of dysthyroid optic neuropathy were enrolled.Preoperative and postoperative best-corrected visual acuity(BCVA),visual field mean deviation(MD),Hertel exophthalmometry, and new onset diplopia were assessed before and after the intervention. The Wilcoxon test was used for differential analysis.Linear mixed-models’analyses were conducted to assess the potential predictors for BCVA change. Results:Postoperatively, the mean BCVA improved from 0.70±0.62 logMAR to 0.22±0.33 logMAR.BCVA significantly improved in 69 eyes(93%),remained stable in 4 eyes(5%)and deteriorated in 1 eye(1%).MD of visual fields improved from−13.73±9.22 dB to−7.23±7.04 dB.Proptosis decreased from 19.57±3.38mm to 16.35±3.01mm.Preoperative BCVA,MD of visual fields and medical rectus diameter were independent factors associated with improvements in BCVA(P<0.05)by linear mixed-models’analyses.Eighteen patients(42.9%)developed new diplopia postoperatively. Conclusion:Modified endoscopic transnasal orbital apex decompression effectively restores vision in dysthyroid optic neuropathy. | Yunhai Tu Mingna Xu Andy D.Kim Michael T.M.Wang Zhaoqi Pan Wencan Wu | 2021 | Eye and Vision2021,8,1: | 4 |
| 2 | Reduced macular inner retinal thickness and microvascular density in the early stage of patients with dysthyroid optic neuropathy显示文摘Background:The goal was to investigate changes of the inner intra-retinal layer thicknesses and retinal capillary density(RCD)around the macula in thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy(TAO)patients with or without dysthyroid optic neuropathy(DON).Methods:Forty-four TAO patients including 23 non-DON and 21 DON patients, and 38 healthy participants were enrolled.Spectral domain optical coherence tomography equipped with Angiovue was used to obtain threedimensional retinal thickness maps and microvascular images of the superficial and deep retinal capillary layers(SRCL and DRCL,respectively)around the macula.Quantitative analyses were performed using a custom automated algorithm. Results:The thicknesses of the nerve fiber layer, ganglion cell layer+inner plexiform layer, and ganglion cell complex(GCC)as well as the RCDs in the SRCL and DRCL in both TAO groups were significantly decreased compared to the controls. In addition, the RCDs in DRCL of the DON group were further decreased compared to the non-DON group.GCC thickness in both TAO groups was positively correlated with the RCDs of the SRCL in the total annular zone and in the temporal, inferior, and nasal sectors. The areas under the receiver operating characteristic curves for the GCC thickness combined with the RCD were generally larger than those of each single indicator. Conclusions:Thinned inner intra-retinal layers and decreased RCDs in the TAO patients without DON revealed that morphological changes might precede visual dysfunction. The composite index of the retinal structure and the microvascular density might be valuable in the diagnosing, monitoring, and intervention for early DON. | Yufei Wu Yunhai Tu Chaoming Wu Lulu Bao Jianhua Wang Fan Lu Meixiao Shen Qi Chen | 2020 | Eye and Vision2020,7,1: | 3 |
| 3 | A natural allele of TAW1 contributes to high grain number and grain yield in rice显示文摘Grain number per panicle (GNP) is a complex trait controlled by quantitative trait loci (QTL),directly determining grain yield in rice.Identifying GNP-associated QTL is desirable for increasing rice yield.A rice chromosome segment substitution line (CSSL),F771,which showed increased panicle length and GNP,was identified in a set of CSSLs derived from a cross between two indica cultivars,R498 (recipient) and WY11327 (donor).Genetic analysis showed that the panicle traits in F771 were semidominant and controlled by multiple QTL.Six QTL were consistently identified by QTL-seq analysis.Among them, the major QTL q PLN10 for panicle length and GNP was localized to a 121-kb interval between markers N802 and N909 on chromosome 10.Based on quantitative real-time PCR and sequence analysis,TAWAWA1(TAW1),a known regulator of rice inflorescence architecture, was identified as the candidate gene for q PLN10.A near-isogenic line,NIL-TAW1,was developed to evaluate its effects. In comparison with the recurrent parent R498,NIL-TAW1 showed increased panicle length (14.0%),number of secondary branches (20.9%) and GNP (22.0%),and the final grain yield per plant of NIL-TAW1 was increased by18.6%.Transgenic experiments showed that an appropriate expression level of TAW1 was necessary for panicle development.Haplotype analysis suggested that the favorable F771-type (Hap 13) of TAW1was introduced from aus accessions and had great potential value in high-yield breeding both in indica and japonica varieties. Our results provide a promising genetic resource for rice grain yield improvement. | Hua Yuan Zhengyan Xu Xueqin Tan Peng Gao Mengya Jin Wencheng Song Shiguang Wang Yunhai Kang Peixiong Liu Bin Tu Yuping Wang Peng Qin Shigui Li Bingtian Ma Weilan Chen | 2021 | The Crop Journal2021,9,5: | 2 |
