| 4 | Late Caledonian Ductile Thrusting Deformation in the Central East Kunlun Belt, Qinghai, China and Its Significance: Evidence from Geochronology显示文摘A high-angle ductile thrusting deformation with top-to-the-north movement penetratively developed in the Proterozoic-Early Paleozoic metamorphic rocks along the Central East Kunlun beR. The deformed rocks suffered epidote-amphibolite facies metamorphism. On the basis of our previous study, we present more data in this paper to further support that the ductile thrust deformation occurred in the later Caledonian and more detailed information about the deformation.A zircon U-Pb concordant age of 446±2.2 Ma of a deformed granodiorite in the ductile thrust zone was obtained and can be interpreted as the lower limit of the deformation. A syntectonically crystallized and also strongly deformed hornblende Ar/Ar dating gives an Ar/Ar plateau age of 426.5±3.8 Ma, which represents the deformation age. A strongly orientated muscovite gives an Ar/Ar plateau age of 408±1.6Ma, representing the cooling age after the peak temperature, constraining the upper limit of the ductile thrust deformation. This ductile thrust deformation can be interpreted as the result of the closing of the Central East Kunlun archipelago ocean. To the north, At/At plateau ages of 382.9±0.2 Ma and 386.8±0.8 Ma of muscovite in the deformed Xiaomiao Group represent the uplift cooling ages of deeper rocks after the thrusting movement. The original thrusting foliation has a low angle. | 5 | New paleontological evidence on time determination of the east part of the Eastern Kunlun Mélange and its tectonic significance显示文摘New paleontological evidence suggests that the composition of the matrix and slices from the middle and the south of the Eastern Kunlun Mélange Belt is very complex, ranging from Proterozoic to Mesozoic in geological time. A Cambrian acritarch assemblage has been discovered from the middle part of the Eastern Kunlun Mélange, a Neoproterozoic to the early Paleozoic acritarch assemblage has been discovered from the south of the Eastern Kunlun Mé lange, and so has been an Early Permian radiolarian from the A’nyemaqen Mélange in Buqing- shan. In addition, some sporopollen has been obtained from the Mesozoic tectonic slices. The above-mentioned paleontological evidence indicates that the Eastern Kunlun Orogenic Belt experienced two episodes from ocean to continent from the Neoproterozoic to the Early Paleo- zoic and in the Late Paleozoic respectively. | 6 | Mechanism of Kinect-based virtual reality training for motor functional recovery of upper limbs after subacute stroke显示文摘The Kinect-based virtual reality system for the Xbox 360 enables users to control and interact with the game console without the need to touch a game controller,and provides rehabilitation training for stroke patients with lower limb dysfunctions.However,the underlying mechanism remains unclear.In this study,18 healthy subjects and five patients after subacute stroke were included.The five patients were scanned using functional MRI prior to training,3 weeks after training and at a12-week follow-up,and then compared with healthy subjects.The Fugl-Meyer Assessment and Wolf Motor Function Test scores of the hemiplegic upper limbs of stroke patients were significantly increased 3 weeks after training and at the 12-week follow-up.Functional MRI results showed that contralateral primary sensorimotor cortex was activated after Kinect-based virtual reality training in the stroke patients compared with the healthy subjects.Contralateral primary sensorimotor cortex,the bilateral supplementary motor area and the ipsilateral cerebellum were also activated during hand-clenching in all 18 healthy subjects.Our findings indicate that Kinect-based virtual reality training could promote the recovery of upper limb motor function in subacute stroke patients,and brain reorganization by Kinect-based virtual reality training may be linked to the contralateral sensorimotor cortex. | Xiao Bao Yurong Mao Qiang Lin Yunhai Qiu Shaozhen Chen Le Li Ryan S.Cates Shufeng Zhou Dongfeng Huang | 2013 | Neural Regeneration Research2013,8,31: | 15 |

| 9 | Isolation and genetic charac-terization of a fragile plant mutant in rice (Oryza sativa L.)显示文摘The fragile rice mutant was isolated from an M2 population of indica variety Shuang Ke Zao (SKZ) treated with γ-rays, and designated as fp1 {fragile plant 1) because of its fragile leaves and culms. To map FP1 locus, an F2 mapping population was derived from a cross between the fp1 and C-bao, a polymorphic japonic variety. The primary mapping result places the FP1 locus in an interval between two molecular markers, microsatellite marker RM16 (3.1 cM proximal to FP1) and STS marker G144a (9.1 cM distal to FP1) in the centromere region of chromosome 3. A CAPS marker C524a was further developed between RM16 and G144a, with 0.4 cM genetic distances to the FP1 locus, providing a practical starting point for constructing a BAC con-tig spanning the FP1 locus and cloning the fp1 gene. | 10 | Characteristics of Boundary Layer Structure during a Persistent Haze Event in the Central Liaoning City Cluster, Northeast China显示文摘The characteristics of boundary layer structure during a persistent regional haze event over the central Liaoning city cluster of Northeast China from 16 to 21 December 2016 were investigated based on the measurements of particulate matter(PM) concentration and the meteorological data within the atmospheric boundary layer(ABL). During the observational period, the maximum hourly mean PM_(2.5) and PM10 concentrations in Shenyang, Anshan, Fushun, and Benxi ranged from 276 to 355 μg m–3 and from 378 to 442 μg m–3, respectively, and the lowest hourly mean atmospheric visibility(VIS) in different cities ranged from 0.14 to 0.64 km. The central Liaoning city cluster was located in the front of a slowly moving high pressure and was mainly controlled by southerly winds. Wind speed(WS) within the ABL(< 2 km) decreased significantly and WS at 10-m height mostly remained below 2 m s–1 during the hazy episodes, which was favorable for the accumulation of air pollutants. A potential temperature inversion layer existed throughout the entire ABL during the earlier hazy episode [from 0500 Local Time(LT) 18 December to 1100 LT 19 December], and then a potential temperature inversion layer developed with the bottom gradually decreased from 900 m to 300 m. Such a stable atmospheric stratification further weakened pollutant dispersion. The atmospheric boundary layer height(ABLH) estimated based on potential temperature profiles was mostly lower than 400 m and varied oppositely with PM_(2.5) in Shenyang. | 12 | Cloned pigs derived from somatic cell nuclear transferembryos cultured in vitro atlow oxygen tension显示文摘Pig cloning has great potential to human xenotransplantation. The present study was designed to establish a more efficient system for producing cloned pigs by somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT). Our approach was as follows: SCNT embryos were reconstructed by using fetal fibroblasts of Chinese miniature pig as donors and in vitro matured oocytes of prepubertal gilts as recipients. Reconstructed em- bryos were induced by electrical fusion/activation and cultured in BSA-containing North Carolina State University 23 medium (NCSU-23) or Porcine Zygote Medium (PZM-3) at the gas condition of 5% CO2, 7% O2, 88% N2. A total of 230 cloned embryos were transferred to three surrogate sows, producing three piglets. One of them is apparently healthy. The clonal provenance of the piglet was indicated by its coat color and confirmed by DNA microsatellite analysis. | 13 | Super twisting controller for on-orbit servicing to non-cooperative target显示文摘A relative position and attitude coupled controller is proposed for rendezvous and docking between two docking ports located in different spacecraft. It is concerned with servicing to a tumbling non-cooperative target spacecraft in arbitrary orbit subjected to external disturbances.By considering both kinematic and dynamical coupled effects of relative rotation on relative translation, a coupled dynamic model is established to represent the relative motion of docking port on target spacecraft with respect to another on the service spacecraft. The spacecraft control is based on the second order sliding mode algorithm of super twisting(ST). It is schemed to manipulate the relative position and attitude synchronously. A formal proof of the finite time convergence property of the closed-loop system is derived theoretically by the second method of Lyapunov. Numerical simulations with the designed ST controller are presented to validate the analytic analysis by contrast with the twisting control algorithm. | 14 | State-of-the-Art Review of High-Throughput Statistical Spatial-Mapping Characterization Technology and Its Applications显示文摘Macroscopic materials are heterogeneous,multi-elementary,and complex.No material is homogeneous or isotropic at a certain small scale.Parts of the material that differ from one another can be termed'natural chips.'At different spots on the material,the composition,structure,and properties vary slightly,and the combination of these slight differences establishes the overall material performance.This article presents a state-of-the-art review of research and applications of high-throughput statistical spatialmapping characterization technology based on the intrinsic heterogeneity within materials.Highthroughput statistical spatial-mapping uses a series of rapid characterization techniques for analysis from the macroscopic to the microscopic scale.Datasets of composition,structure,and properties at each location are obtained rapidly for practical sample sizes.Accurate positional coordinate information and references to a point-to-point correspondence are used to set up a database that contains spatialmapping lattices.Based on material research and development design requirements,dataset spatialmapping within required target intervals is selected from the database.Statistical analysis can be used to select a suitable design that better meets the targeted requirements.After repeated verification,genetic units that reflect the material properties are determined.By optimizing process parameters,the assembly of these genetic unit(s)is verified at the mesoscale,and quantitative correlations are established between the microscale,mesoscale,macroscale,practical sample,across-the-scale span composition,structure,and properties.The high-throughput statistical spatial-mapping characterization technology has been applied to numerous material systems,such as steels,superalloys,galvanization,and ferrosilicon alloys.This approach has guided the composition and the process optimization of various materials. | Haizhou Wang Lei Zhao Yunhai Jia Dongling Li Lixi Yang Yuhua Lu Guang Feng Weihao Wan | 2020 | Engineering2020,6,6: | 7 |

| 17 | Exogenous Application of Abscisic Acid (ABA)Enhances Chilling Tolerance in Seedlings ofNapier Grass (Pennisetum purpureum Schum.)显示文摘Napier grass, an important forage crop with potentials in multi-purpose applications, is widely grown throughout the tropics and subtropics. Low temperature severely limits its productivity and geographical distribution in temperate regions of the world. In this study, we investigated the effect of exogenous abscisic Acid(ABA) on chilling tolerance of napier grass(Pennisetum purpureum Schum.) seedlings. Seven-day-old napier grass seedlings were cultured in dd H_2O or ABA solution at different concentrations and exposed to 1 ℃ for different time durations. The chilling injury, membrane stability index(MSI) and proline content were estimated from leaf samples. The results showed that there was obvious morphological injury of leaf blighting and restrained growth for the seedlings under chilling stress, but this damage can be largely reduced(by 2/3) when the seedlings were treated by 100 μmol/L ABA in the culture solution, and that the application of exogenous ABA can help to maintain a good stability of leaf cell membrane as expressed by a high MSI value and a low level of proline in leaf cells. These results suggested that exogenous ABA can significantly alleviate chilling injury in napier grass seedlings by maintaining the stability of leaf cell membrane during chilling stress, and that the chilling tolerance was not ensured by a proline accumulation although a passive accumulation of proline was observed in the seedlings under chilling stress. | 18 | Source and spatial distributions of particulate organic carbon and its isotope in surface waters of Prydz Bay, Antarctica, during summer显示文摘In this study, we investigated the distributions of sea-surface suspended particulate organic carbon(POC) and its stable isotope(δ13CPOC) in Prydz Bay, Antarctica, and examined the factors infl uencing their distribution, sources, and transport. We used measurements collected from 61 stations in Prydz Bay during the 29 th Chinese National Antarctic Research Expedition, in combination with remote sensing data on sea surface temperature(SST), chlorophyll a concentration, and sea ice coverage. The POC concentration in the surface waters of Prydz Bay was 0.28–0.84 mg·L-1, with an average concentration of 0.48 mg·L-1. The δ13CPOC value ranged from-29.68‰ to-26.30‰, with an average of-28.01‰. The concentration of suspended POC was highest in near-shore areas and in western Prydz Bay. The POC concentration was correlated with chlorophyll a concentration and sea ice coverage, suggesting that POC was associated with phytoplankton production in local water columns, while the growth of phytoplankton was obviously affected by sea ice coverage. The δ13CPOC value in suspended particles decreased gradually towards the outer waters of Prydz Bay, while in eastern Prydz Bay the δ13CPOC value become gradually more negative from nearshore to deep-water areas, suggesting that δ13CPOC was mainly infl uenced by CO2 fixation by phytoplankton. | 19 | Modified endoscopic transnasal orbital apex decompression in dysthyroid optic neuropathy显示文摘Background:To describe the surgical technique and assess the clinical efficacy and safety of modified endoscopic transnasal orbital apex decompression in the treatment of dysthyroid optic neuropathy.Methods:In this retrospective research,forty-two subjects(74 orbits)who underwent modified endoscopic transnasal orbital apex decompression for the treatment of dysthyroid optic neuropathy were enrolled.Preoperative and postoperative best-corrected visual acuity(BCVA),visual field mean deviation(MD),Hertel exophthalmometry,and new onset diplopia were assessed before and after the intervention.The Wilcoxon test was used for differential analysis.Linear mixed-models’analyses were conducted to assess the potential predictors for BCVA change.Results:Postoperatively,the mean BCVA improved from 0.70±0.62 logMAR to 0.22±0.33 logMAR.BCVA significantly improved in 69 eyes(93%),remained stable in 4 eyes(5%)and deteriorated in 1 eye(1%).MD of visual fields improved from−13.73±9.22 dB to−7.23±7.04 dB.Proptosis decreased from 19.57±3.38mm to 16.35±3.01mm.Preoperative BCVA,MD of visual fields and medical rectus diameter were independent factors associated with improvements in BCVA(P<0.05)by linear mixed-models’analyses.Eighteen patients(42.9%)developed new diplopia postoperatively.Conclusion:Modified endoscopic transnasal orbital apex decompression effectively restores vision in dysthyroid optic neuropathy. | Yunhai Tu Mingna Xu Andy D.Kim Michael T.M.Wang Zhaoqi Pan Wencan Wu | 2021 | Eye and Vision2021,8,1: | 4 |
| 20 | Shear behavior of ultrafine magnetite tailings subjected to freeze-thaw cycles显示文摘To study the shear behavior of the ultrafine magnetite tailings subjected to freeze-thaw cycles,unconsolidated-undrained shear tests were conducted on ultrafine-grained tailings that were subjected to 1-11 cycles of freeze-thaw and defined as a type of clayey silt under confining pressures of 100,200,and 300 kPa.Taking the number of freeze-thaw cycles,cooling temperature,initial dry density,and moisture content as the four main influencing factors of shear behavior of the tailings samples,the shear stress-strain curve,compression modulus,failure strength,cohesion,and internal friction angle were measured.The results show that the freeze-thaw cycle has an obvious weakening effect on the shear behavior of the tailings material,and the shear mechanical parameters are affected by a combination of confining pressure,freeze-thaw cycle condition,and initial physical-mechanical properties of the tailings samples.Through the microstructural analysis of the tailings samples subjected to freeze-thaw cycles,it shows that the freeze-thaw cycle mainly affects the porosity,bound water,and arrangement of the tailings particles.Subsequently,the macroscopic changes in shear strength indexes emerge,and then the stability of the tailings dam will decrease. | Chong Wei Derek B.Apel Yunhai Zhang | 2019 | International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2019,29,4: | 4 |
