Rifting process and formation mechanisms of syn-rift stage prolongation in the deepwater basin, northern South China Sea显示文摘Based on the latest seismic and geological data, tectonic subsidence of three seismic lines in the deepwater area of Pearl River Mouth Basin (PRMB), the northern South China Sea (SCS), is calculated. The result shows that the rifting process of study area is different from the typical passive continental margin basin. Although the seafloor spreading of SCS initiated at 32 Ma, the tectonic subsidence rate does not decrease but increases instead, and then decreases at about 23 Ma, which indicates that the rifting continued after the onset of seafloor spreading until about 23 Ma. The formation thickness exhibits the same phenomenon, that is the syn-rift stage prolonged and the post-rift thermal subsidence delayed. The formation mechanisms are supposed to be three: (1) the lithospheric rigidity of the northern SCS is weak and its ductility is relatively strong, which delayed the strain relaxation resulting from the seafloor spreading; (2) the differential layered independent extension of the lithosphere may be one reason for the delay of post-rift stage; and (3) the southward transition of SCS spreading ridge during 24 to 21 Ma and the corresponding acceleration of seafloor spreading rate then triggered the initiation of large-scale thermal subsidence in the study area at about 23 Ma.DONG DongDong WU ShiGuo ZHANG GongCheng YUAN ShengQiang 2008Chinese Science Bulletin2008,53,23:27
Texture and tectonic attribute of Cenozoic basin basement in the northern South China Sea显示文摘Based on the drilling data, the geological characteristics of the coast in South China, and the interpretation of the long seismic profiles covering the Pearl River Mouth Basin and southeastern Hainan Basin, the basin basement in the northern South China Sea is divided into four structural layers,namely,Pre-Sinian crystalline basement,Sinian-lower Paleozoic, upper Paleozoic, and Mesozoic structural layers. This paper discusses the distribution range and law and reveals the tectonic attribute of each structural layer. The Pre-Sinian crystalline basement is distributed in the northern South China Sea,which is linked to the Pre-Sinian crystalline basement of the Cathaysian Block and together they constitute a larger-scale continental block—the Cathaysian-northern South China Sea continental block. The Sinian-lower Paleozoic structural layer is distributed in the northern South China Sea,which is the natural extension of the Caledonian fold belt in South China to the sea area. The sediments are derived from southern East China Sea-Taiwan,Zhongsha-Xisha islands and Yunkai ancient uplifts, and some small basement uplifts. The Caledonian fold belt in the northern South China Sea is linked with that in South China and they constitute the wider fold belt. The upper Paleozoic structural layer is unevenly distributed in the northern South China. In the basement of Beibu Gulf Basin and southwestern Taiwan Basin, the structural layer is composed of the stable epicontinental sea deposit. The distribution areas in the Pearl River Mouth Basin and the southeastern Hainan Basin belong to ancient uplifts in the late Paleozoic, lacking the upper Paleozoic structural layers. The stratigraphic distribution and sedimentary environment in Middle-Late Jurassic to Cretaceous are characteristic of differentiation in the east and the west. The marine, paralic deposit is well developed in the basin basement of southwestern Taiwan but the volcanic activity is not obvious. The marine and paralic facies deposit is distributed in the eastern Pearl River Mouth Basin basement and the volcanic activity is stronger. The continental facies volcano-sediment in the Early Cretaceous is distributed in the basement of the western Pearl River Mouth Basin and Southeastern Hainan Basin. The Upper Cretaceous red continental facies clastic rocks are distributed in the Beibu Gulf Basin and Yinggehai Basin. The NE direction granitic volcanic-intrusive complex,volcano-sedimentary basin, fold and fault in Mesozoic basement have the similar temporal and spatial distribution, geological feature, and tectonic attribute with the coastal land in South China, and they belong to the same magma-deposition-tectonic system, which demonstrates that the late Mesozoic structural layer was formed in the background of active continental margin.Based on the analysis of basement structure and the study on tectonic attribute, the paleogeographic map of the basin basement in different periods in the northern South China Sea is compiled.SUN XiaoMeng ZHANG XuQing ZHANG GongCheng LU BaoLiang YUE JunPei ZHANG Bin 2014Science China Earth Sciences2014,57,6:18
Chlorite cement and its effect on the reservoir quality of sandstones from the Panyu low-uplift,Pearl River Mouth Basin显示文摘Based on porosity and permeability measurements, mercury porosimetry measurements, thin section analyses,SEM observations,X-ray diffraction(XRD) analysis and granulometric analyses, diagenetic features of reservoir sandstones taken from the Zhuhai formation in the Panyu low-uplift of the Pear River Mouth Basin were examined. This study shows that chlorite cements are one of the most important diagenetic features of reservoir sandstones. The precipitation of chlorite was controlled by multiple factors and its development occurred early in eo-diagenesis and continued till Stage A of middle diagenesis. The precipitation of chlorite at the early stage was mainly affected by the sedimentary environment and provenance.Abundant Fe-and Mg-rich materials were supplied during the deposition of distributary channel sediments in the deltaic front setting and mainly in alkaline conditions. With the burial depth increasing, smectite and kaolinite tended to be transformed into chlorite.Smectite cements were completely transformed into chlorite in sandstones of the studied area.Volcanic lithics rich in Fe and Mg materials were dissolved and released Fe2+ and Mg 2+ into the pore water. These cations precipitated as chlorite cements in middle diagenesis in an alkaline diagenetic environment.Chlorite coatings acted as porosity and permeability, thus helping preserve cements in the chlorite cemented sandstones. The reservoir quality of chlorite cemented sandstones is much better than sandstones without chlorite cements.Chlorite cements play an important role in the reservoir evolution that was mainly characterized by preserving intergranular porosity and forming better pore-throat structures of sandstones.Chen Guojun Du Guichao Zhang Gongcheng Wang Qi Lv Chengfu 2011Petroleum Science2011,8,2:14
Seismic Facies in a Deepwater Area of a Marine Faulted Basin:Deepwater Area of the Paleogene Lingshui Formation in the Qiongdongnan Basin显示文摘In recent years, deep water areas have become popular exploration fields because of their abundant hydrocarbon resource potential. There are only relatively poor planar seismic profiles and no wells for deepwater areas of the Lingshui Formation in the Qiongdongnan Basin.A lot of faults developed and strata are fragmented due to high temperatures and high pressure, and this has resulted in dim sequence boundaries.Based on seismic data of the deepwater area and well data of bordering shallow water areas,Lingshui Formation was divided into four third class sequences;namely SI,SII,SIII and SIV,and the three-dimensional isochronous stratigraphic framework of the Lingshui Formation in the studied area was shaped.Based mainly on seismic attributes such as amplitude, continuity, internal structure and external shape, six typical seismic facies were identified, including mat-shaped,filling,wedge-shaped,foreset,moundy-shaped and lenticular-shaped,and a seismic facies distribution map was subsequently drawn. With studies on wells of bordering shallow water areas, regional sedimentary characteristics, and isopach map as references, sedimentary planar distribution features were analyzed. The deepwater area of the Lingshui Formation has mainly developed littoral and shallow sea.Sandstone bodies of fan delta, braided river delta, slope fan, basin floor fan,and turbidite fan are at an interdigitate junction to marine hydrocarbon source rocks and thus are favorable prospecting targets.CHEN Huanqning ZHU Xiaomin ZHANG Gongcheng ZHANG Xilin ZHANG Qin 2012Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2012,86,2:10
Fingered Intrusion of Shallow Saucer-shaped Igneous Sills: Insights from the Jiaojiang Sag, East China Sea显示文摘An extensive suite of igneous sills was intruded into the Tertiary sedimentary section of the Jiaojiang sag,East China Sea.This suite has been well imaged offshore through 2D and 3D seismic surveys, showing a close relationship with CO2 content in nearby gas discoveries.A new observational model, which incorporates simple upward propagation, simple horizontal propagation, and transgressive propagation, was proposed to interpret these sill intrusions. In this model, the source magma of the saucer-shaped sills was injected from their lowest points near the center. The transgressive propagation can be interpreted as a combination of the vertical and horizontal propagation. Most shallow sub-volcanic intrusions in the Jiaojiang sag exhibit fingered characteristics, both vertically and horizontally. The vertical fingered propagation produced saucer-shaped sills arranged in the flower style.Along the brims of lower sills could usually be found the upper sills, which are interpreted to have formed simultaneously with or later than the lower feeder sills. In the second type, the chilled paths of the older sills were reutilized by subsequent intrusions. The horizontal fingered propagation formed sheet intrusions that exhibit groove, lobate, tubular, and crevasse splaylike geometry in plan view.In 3D view, the sheet intrusions have still preserved the lower center and higher rim that similar with the sub-rounded saucer-shaped sills.Although fracture propagation may be important, flow inflation was the key mechanism of magma intrusion.Further consideration of the mechanisms underlying sill formation may help explain the fingered characteristics of sill propagation.GUO Rui ZHANG Gongcheng ZHANG Jinwei ZHAO Xingbin LIU Junbang YUAN Dawei SONG Shuang 2013Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2013,87,5:8
Petroleum Geology in Deepwater Settings in a Passive Continental Margin of a Marginal Sea:A Case Study from the South China Sea显示文摘Deepwater oil and gas exploration has become a global hotspot in recent years and the study of the deep waters of marginal seas is an important frontier research area. The South China Sea(SCS)is a typical marginal sea that includes Paleo SCS and New SCS tectonic cycles. The latter includes continental marginal rifting, intercontinental oceanic expansion and oceanic shrinking, which controlled the evolution of basins, and the generation, migration and accumulation of hydrocarbons in the deepwater basins on the continental margin of the northern SCS.In the Paleogene, the basins rifted along the margin of the continent and were filled mainly with sediments in marine-continental transitional environments. In the Neogene–Quaternary, due to thermal subsidence,neritic-abyssal facies sediments from the passive continental margin of the SCS mainly filled the basins. The source rocks include mainly Oligocene coal-bearing deltaic and marine mudstones, which were heated by multiple events with high geothermal temperature and terrestrial heat flow, resulting in the generation of gas and oil.The faults, diapirs and sandstones controlled the migration of hydrocarbons that accumulated principally in a large canyon channel,a continental deepwater fan,and a shelf-margin delta.ZHANG Gongcheng FENG Congjun YAO Xingzong JI Mo YANG Haizhang QU Hongjun ZENG Qingbo ZHAO Zhao SUN Rui 2021Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2021,95,1:6
Effects of acupuncture on the relationship between cerebral hemodynamics and arterial blood pressure in patients with hypertension显示文摘The present study aimed to investigate the effect of an auricular acupuncture intervention on the relationship between changes in oxyhemoglobin concentration(Δ[O2Hb])and arterial blood pressure(ABP).The cerebral oxygenation signals in the bilateral prefrontal cortex(PFC),sensorimotor cortex(SMC),and temporal lobe cortex(TLC)of 15 patients with hypertension were measured by a 24-channel functional near-infrared spectroscopy(fNIRS)device before(State_R)and after(State_AT)the auricular acupuncture intervention.Coupling strength was used to quantitatively evaluate the strength of the couplings between ABP andΔ[O2Hb]in low-frequency oscillations(LF,0.07–0.2 Hz)and very-low-frequency oscillations(VLF,0.02–0.07 Hz).Results showed that the changes in wavelet amplitudes in the LF and VLF intervals did not exhibit significant differences after auricular acupuncture. The coupling strength from ABP toΔ[O2Hb]was significantly lower in the LF range after auricular acupuncture in the bilateral PFC,SMC,and TLC(p<0.0083).Additionally,the coupling strength from ABP toΔ[O2Hb]in the VLF range was significantly lower in the bilateral PFC in State_AT than in State_R(p<0.0083).These results indicated that fNIRS together with ABP can effectively evaluate cerebral hemodynamic responses to interventions and is therefore capable of guiding more individualized acupuncture strategies. The auricular acupuncture intervention improved hemodynamic responses in patients suffering from hypertension.Wenhao Li Hongmei Liu Congcong Huo Gongcheng Xu Tengyu Zhang Zengyong Li 2021Medicine in Novel Technology and Devices2021,,4:4

Reservoir forming conditions and key exploration technologies of Lingshui 17-2 giant gas field in deepwater area of Qiongdongnan Basin显示文摘On September 15,2014,China National Offshore Oil Co.,Ltd announced that a high production of oil and gas flow of 1.6106 m3/d was obtained in Well LS17-2-1 in deepwater area in northern South China Sea,which is the first great oil and gas discovery for self-run deepwater exploration in China sea areas, and a strategic breakthrough was made in natural gas exploration in deepwater area of Lingshui sag in Qiongdongnan Basin.Under the combined action of climax of international deepwater exploration, high oil prices, national demands of China, practical needs of exploration, breakthroughs in seismic exploration and testing technologies, innovations in geological cognition and breakthroughs in deepwater operation equipment,Lingshui 17-2 gas field is discovered.Among these factors, the innovation in reservoir forming geological cognition directly promotes the discovery. The quality of seismic data in the early time is poor,so key reservoir forming conditions such as effective source rocks, high quality reservoirs and oil-gas migration pathways are unable to be ascertained;with support of new seismic acquisition and processing technology, some researches show that Lingshui sag is a successive large and deep sag with an area of 5000 km2 and the maximum thickness of Cenozoic stratum of 13 km.In the Early Oligocene, the Lingshui sag was a semi-closed delta-estuarine environment, where the coalmeasure and marine mudstones in Lower Oligocene Yacheng Formation were developed. The Lingshui sag is a sag with high temperature, and the bottom temperature of source rocks in Yacheng Formation can exceed 250C,but the simulation experiment of hydrocarbon generation at high temperature indicates that the main part of this set of source rock is still in the gas-generation window, with resources of nearly 1 trillion cubic meters,so the Lingshui sag is a hydrocarbon-rich generation sag.In the Neogene, the axial canyon channel from the Thu Bon River in Vietnam passed through the Lingshui sag,and five stages of secondary channels were developed in the axial canyon channel, where four types of reservoirs with excellent physical properties including the axial sand, lateral accretion sand, natural levee sand as well as erosion residual sand were developed, and lithologic traps or structural-lithologic traps were formed. The diapiric zone in the southern Lingshui sag connects deep source rocks in Yacheng Formation and shallow sandstones in the channels, and the migration pattern of natural gas is a T-type migration pattern,in other words, the natural gas generated from Yacheng Formation migrates vertically to the interior of the channel sandbody, and then migrates laterally in the channel reservoirs and forms the reservoirs.Innovations of geophysical exploration technologies for complicated geological conditions of deepwater areas are made, such as the detuning comprehensive quantitative amplitude hydrocarbon detection technology, which greatly improves the success rate of deepwater exploration;key technologies of deepwater safety exploratory well testing represented by the platform-dragged riser displacement technology are developed, which greatly reduces the drilling test cost. The above key exploration technologies provide a strong guarantee for the efficient exploration and development of Lingshui gas field.Yuhong Xie Gongcheng Zhang Zhipeng Sun Qingbo Zeng Zhao Zhao Shuai Guo 2019Petroleum Research2019,4,1:3
Hydrocarbon accumulation in the deep waters of South China Sea controlled by the tectonic cycles of marginal sea basins显示文摘The tectonic cycle of the marginal sea basins in South China Sea(SCS)includes two cycles,i.e.,the formation and contraction of Palaeo-SCS and Neo-SCS.The northern part of SCS is a rift basin on a passive continental margin, while the the Nansha Block is a drifting rift basin. The southern part is a compound compressional basin on an active continental margin;the western part is a shear-extensional basin on a transform continental margin;the eastern part is an accretionary wedge basin on a subduction continental margin. The deep-water basins are mainly distributed on the continental slope and the the Nansha Block. There are three sets of source rocks in the deep-water areas of the northern continental margin in SCS,i.e.,Eocene terrestrial facies, early Oligocene transitional facies and late Oligocene marine facies.A set of Late Cretaceous-Early Oligocene terrestrial marine facies source rocks are developed in the drift-rift basin of SCS.Three sets of Oligocene, early Miocene and Mid-Miocene marine-terrestrial transitional facies source rocks are developed in the deep-water areas of both the southern and western continental margins of SCS.Four sets of reservoirs developed in the northern deep waters of SCS are dominated by deep sea fans. Two sets of reservoirs developed in the the Nansha Block are dominated by delta and biogenic reef. The southern part of SCS is dominated by deep sea fan and biogenic reef.Reservoirs of large channels and other clastic facies were developed in front of the estuaries, while biogenic reef bank was formed in the uplift zone. The hydrocarbon accumulation assemblages are mainly presented as Oligocene-Pliocene in the deep waters on the northern continental margin of SCS,Eocene-Lower Oligocene in the the Nansha Block,Oligocene-Pliocene and Oligocene-Miocene in the deep waters on the southern and western continental margin of SCS,respectively. The major hydrocarbon reservoir types in the deep waters of SCS are related to structural traps, deep water fans and biogenic reefs. The formation of basin, hydrocarbon and reservoir in the deep waters of SCS are controlled by the tectonic cycles of the marginal sea basins, revealing a great potential for hydrocarbon exploration.Gongcheng Zhang Hongjun Qu Shixiang Liu Xiaojun Xie Zhao Zhao Huailei Shen 2016Petroleum Research2016,1,1:3
The Development Characteristics and Distribution Predictions of the Paleogene Coal-measure Source Rock in the Qiongdongnan Basin,Northern South China Sea显示文摘There are known to be enormous Cenozoic coal-type oil and gas resources located in the basins of the South China Sea,among which the Paleogene coal-measure source rock are one of the main source rock.In order to more effectively analyze the distribution laws of coal-measure source rock in marginal sea basins and guide coal-type oil and gas explorations, the Oligocene coal-measure source rock in the Qiongdongnan Basin were selected as examples in order to systematically analyze the types, development characteristics, control factors, and distribution prediction methods of coalmeasure source rock in marginal sea basins. The Qiongdongnan Basin is located in the northern region of the South China Sea.Previous explorations of the area have determined that the Oligocene coal-measure source rock in the Qiongdongnan Basin have typical'binary structures',which include coal seams and terrigenous marine mudstone.Among those, the terrigenous marine mudstone has been found to greatly expand the scope of the coal-measure source rock.In addition, the coal seams which have been exposed by drilling have been observed to have the characteristics of thin single layer thickness, many layers, and poor stability.Meanwhile, the terrigenous marine mudstone has the characteristics of large thickness and wide distribution. The development of coal-measure source rock is known to be controlled by many factors, such as paleoclimate and paleobotany condition,paleo-structure and topography,paleo-geography,rise and fall of base level, and so on.In accordance with the comprehensive analyses of various control factors of coal-measure source rock, and the changes in water body energy in sedimentary environments,a genetic model of the'energy belt'for the development and distribution of coal-measure source rock was proposed. Also, the development and distribution characteristics of coalmeasure source rock in different types of energy belts were clarified. Then, based on the development and distribution characteristics of coal-measure source rock and their controlling factors, prediction methods of the distribution ranges of coal-measure source rock were proposed from both qualitative and(semi-)quantitative aspects. That is to say,a method for(semi-)quantitative predictions of the distribution ranges of coal-bearing intervals based on model wave impedance inversion and neural network wave impedance inversion, along with a method for(semi-)quantitative predictions of the distribution ranges of terrigenous marine mudstone based on topographical slopes, were introduced in this study.WANG Dongdong ZHANG Gongcheng LI Zengxue DONG Guoqi SUN Rui GUO Shuai WU Yue 2021Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2021,95,1:3
Geochemistry of borehole cutting shale and natural gas accumulation in the deepwater area of the Zhujiang River Mouth-Qiongdongnan Basin in the northern South China Sea显示文摘The Qiongdongnan Basin and Zhujiang River(Pearl River) Mouth Basin, important petroliferous basins in the northern South China Sea, contain abundant oil and gas resource. In this study, on basis of discussing impact of oil-base mud on TOC content and Rock-Eval parameters of cutting shale samples, the authors did comprehensive analysis of source rock quality, thermal evolution and control effect of source rock in gas accumulation of the Qiongdongnan and the Zhujiang River Mouth Basins. The contrast analysis of TOC contents and Rock-Eval parameters before and after extraction for cutting shale samples indicates that except for a weaker impact on Rock-Eval parameter S_2, oil-base mud has certain impact on Rock-Eval S_1, Tmax and TOC contents. When concerning oil-base mud influence on source rock geochemistry parameters, the shales in the Yacheng/Enping,Lingshui/Zhuhai and Sanya/Zhuhai Formations have mainly Type Ⅱ and Ⅲ organic matter with better gas potential and oil potential. The thermal evolution analysis suggests that the depth interval of the oil window is between 3 000 m and 5 000 m. Source rocks in the deepwater area have generated abundant gas mainly due to the late stage of the oil window and the high-supper mature stage. Gas reservoir formation condition analysis made clear that the source rock is the primary factor and fault is a necessary condition for gas accumulation. Spatial coupling of source, fault and reservoir is essential for gas accumulation and the inside of hydrocarbon-generating sag is future potential gas exploration area.GAO Gang ZHANG Gongcheng CHEN Guo GANG Wenzhe SHEN Huailei ZHAO Ke 2018Acta Oceanologica Sinica2018,37,2:2
Characteristics of the turbidite fan in the Wenchang Formation of the Enping Sag, Pearl River Mouth Basin, China and its hydrocarbon significance显示文摘A turbidite fan in the Eocene upper Wenchang Formation in the Enping Sag, Pearl River Mouth Basin (PRMB) has been studied using seismic, logging and borehole data. The fan is characterized by parallel progradation on the dip seismic profile and is mound-shaped or lenticular-shaped on the strike seismic profile. The study of the core and logging data from well EP17-3-1, which is located in the front side of the turbidite fan, shows that this fan is a set of normal grading sand beds, interbedded within thick dark grey mudstones of semi-deep to deep lake deposits in the Wenchang Formation. The fan is interpreted as a sand/mud-rich turbidite fan that has an area of over 140 km2 and a maximum thickness of over 340 m. Combined with a study of the regional geological background and previous provenance analysis of the Eocene Wenchang Formation, the main potential provenances for the turbidite fan are considered to be the Panyu low-uplift and northern fault terrace zone. The Enping Sag is considered to be a half graben-like basin whose north side is faulted and whose south side is overlapped. Basement subsidence in the Eocene was mainly controlled by boundary faults which dip relatively steeply on the north side, causing the subsidence center of the Enping Sag in this stage to be close to the north boundary faults. Sustained faults developed in the Enping Sag during the Eocene caused an increase of the relative height difference between the north and the south uplift zone in the Enping Sag. Affected by the second episode of the Zhuqiong movement (39-36 Ma) in late Eocene, sediments which had accumulated on the Panyu low-uplift zone were triggered and moved toward the subsidence center of the Enping Sag and formed the turbidite fan. The second episode of the Zhuqiong movement is the most important triggering factor for the formation of the turbidite fan in the Wenchang Formation. Seismic attribute characterization shows that the low frequency energy is enhanced and high frequency energy is weakened when seismic waves propagate through the oil-bearing zone in this fan. Amplitude versus offset (AVO) anomalies are observed in the seismic data and abnormally high pressure is encountered. The turbidite fan in the Wenchang Formation has provided important information for sedimentary evolution in deep layers of the Enping Sag and pointed to a new direction for the hydrocarbon exploration in the study area.Chen Guojun Li Chao Du Guichao Zhang Gongcheng Lü Chengfu Wang Qi 2013Petroleum Science2013,10,3:1
Cenozoic giant coal-bearing basin belt discovered in China's sea and its adjacent areas显示文摘Sea area is an important area of oil and gas exploration in China. It has been found that China's sea area mainly consists of coal type oil and gas,and the exploration of coal-bearing series source rocks has become an important part of oil and gas exploration there.Through years of comprehensive geological research in China's sea area,it has been revealed that it has undergone multiple occurrences of tectonic opening and closing movements in varying degrees in the Paleogene, forming 26 Cenozoic sedimentary basins of various types, such as active continental margin, passive continental margin, transitional continental margin and drift rift basins. In the present study,it is observed for the first time that coal type source rocks are mainly developed in 14 continental margin basins in China's sea area, revealing that a very large C-shaped coal-bearing basin group developed there in the Cenozoic.Next, based on the coupling analysis of paleoclimate, paleobotany, paleogeography and paleostructure,it is observed that there are five coal-forming periods in China's sea area, namely the Paleocene,Eocene, early Oligocene, late Oligocene and Miocene-Pliocene,and the coal-forming age is gradually new from north to south. It is also found that the coal seams in the sea area are mainly developed in three coal-forming environments in Cenozoic, namely delta, fan delta and tidal flat-lagoon.The coal seams developed in different environments are characterized by thin thickness, many layers and poor stability. However, the coal-bearing series source rocks in China's sea area have a wide distribution range, very high thickness and large amount, thus forming a material basis for the formation of rich coal type oil and gas.Gongcheng Zhang Ying Chen Dongdong Wang Zengxue Li 2023Acta Oceanologica Sinica2023,42,3:1
The gradual subduction-collision evolution model of Proto-South China Sea and its control on oil and gas显示文摘This study involved outcrop, drilling, seismic, gravity, and magnetic data to systematically document the geological records of the subduction process of Proto-South China Sea(PSCS)and establish its evolution model. The results indicate that a series of arc-shaped ophiolite belts and calcalkaline magmatic rocks are developed in northern Borneo, both of which have the characteristics of gradually changing younger from west to east, and are direct signs of subduction and collision of PSCS.At the same time, the subduction of PSCS led to the formation of three accretion zones from the south to the north in Borneo, the Kuching belt,Sibu belt, and Miri belt. The sedimentary formation of northern Borneo is characterized by a three-layer structure, with the oceanic basement at the bottom, overlying the deep-sea flysch deposits of the Rajang–Crocker group, and the molasse sedimentary sequence that is dominated by river-delta and shallow marine facies at the top, recording the whole subduction–collision–orogeny process of PSCS.Further, seismic reflection and tomography also confirmed the subduction and collision of PSCS.Based on the geological records of the subduction and collision of PSCS,combined with the comprehensive analysis of segmented expansion and key tectonic events in the South China Sea,we establish the“gradual”subduction-collision evolution model of PSCS.During the late Eocene to middle Miocene, the Zengmu,Nansha, and Liyue–Palawan blocks were separated by West Baram Line and Balabac Fault, which collided with the Borneo block and Kagayan Ridge successively from the west to the east, forming several foreland basin systems, and PSCS subducted and closed from the west to the east. The subduction and extinction of PSCS controlled the oil and gas distribution pattern of southern South China Sea(SSCS)mainly in three aspects.First, the“gradual”closure process of PSCS led to the continuous development of many large deltas in SSCS.Second, the deltas formed during the subduction–collision of PSCS controlled the development of source rocks in the basins of SSCS.Macroscopically, the distribution and scale of deltas controlled the distribution and scale of source rocks, forming two types of source rocks, namely, coal measures and terrestrial marine facies.Microscopically, the difference of terrestrial higher plants carried by the delta controlled the proportion of macerals of source rocks.Third, the difference of source rocks mainly controlled the distribution pattern of oil and gas in SSCS.Meanwhile, the difference in the scale of source rocks mainly controlled the difference in the amount of oil and gas discoveries, resulting in a huge amount of oil and gas discoveries in the basin of SSCS.Meanwhile, the difference of macerals of source rocks mainly controlled the difference of oil and gas generation, forming the oil and gas distribution pattern of“nearshore oil and far-shore gas”.Xiaojun Xie Wu Tang Gongcheng Zhang Zhigang Zhao Shuang Song Shixiang Liu Yibo Wang Jia Guo 2023Acta Oceanologica Sinica2023,42,3:1

Structural Characteristics and its Significances on Hydrocarbon Accumulation in the Yunkai Low Uplift,Pearl River Mouth Basin显示文摘The Yunkai low uplift with low exploration degree is close to the Baiyun sag,and has hydrocarbon exploration potential in the deepwater area of the Pearl River Mouth Basin.Based on seismic and drilling data, balanced profiles and growth strata, this paper mainly discusses geological structures and formation processes of the Yunkai low uplift, and also analyzes the characteristics of fault system and their influence on hydrocarbon migration and accumulation. The EWtrending basement faults divide the Yunkai low uplift into two parts,i.e.the southern sector and the northern sector. The northern sector is a relatively wide and gentle uplift, while the southern sector is composed of two secondary half-grabens with faulting in the south and overlapping in the north. The Yunkai low uplift experienced three major formation stages, including the rapid uplifting stage during the deposition period of the Eocene Wenchang Formation, the slow uplifting stage during the deposition period of the Late Eocene-Middle Miocene Enping-Hanjiang formations, and the whole burial stage from the Middle Miocene to present. The extensional faults in the Yunkai low uplift and its adjacent areas strike mainly along the NW,NWW and near-EW directions. Also, the strikes of faults present a clockwise rotation from the deep to the shallow strata.According to effects of faults on hydrocarbon accumulation the faults in the Yunkai low uplift and its adjacent areas can be divided into trap-controlled faults and source-controlled faults. The trap-controlled faults control trap development and can effectively seal oil and gas.The source-controlled faults connect directly source rocks and reservoirs, which are highly active during the rifting stage and weakly active since the Miocene. This activity features of the source-controlled faults is beneficial to migration of the early crude oil from the Baiyun sag to the high part of the Yunkai low uplift, but is not good for migration of the late natural gas.In the Yunkai low uplift and its adjacent areas, the traps in the deep Zhuhai and Enping formations that are close to source rocks in the Baiyun sag should be the favorable exploration objectives.YU Yixin ZHANG Tianlong ZHANG Zhongtao ZHANG Gongcheng ZENG Jianhui YANG Haizhang ZHAO Zhao LIANG Weiwei 2021Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2021,95,1:1

Relationship between the Extent of Igneous Rocks and Deep Structures as Determined by Gravitational and Magnetic Data in the South China Sea显示文摘The distribution of oil and gas resources in the South China Sea and adjacent areas is closely related to the structural pattern that helped to define the controlling effect of deep processes on oil-bearing basins.Igneous rocks can record important information from deep processes.Deep structures such as faults, basin uplift and depression,Cenozoic basement and magnetic basement are all the results of energy exchange within the earth. The study of the relationship between igneous rocks and deep structures is of great significance for the study of the South China Sea.By using the minimum curvature potential field separation technique and the correlation analysis technique of gravitational and magnetic anomalies, the fusion of gravitational and magnetic data reflecting igneous rocks can be obtained, through which the igneous rocks with high susceptibility/high density or high susceptibility/low density can be identified. In this study area, igneous rocks do not develop in the Yinggehai basin,Qiongdongnan basin,Zengmu basin and Brunei-Sabah basin whilst igneous rocks with high susceptibility/high density or high susceptibility/low density are widely-developed in other basins. In undeveloped igneous areas, faults are also undeveloped the Cenozoic thickness is greater, the magnetic basement depth is greater and the Cenozoic thickness is highly positively correlated with the magnetic basement depth. In igneously developed regions, the distribution pattern of the Qiongtai block is mainly controlled by primary faults, while the distribution of the Zhongxisha block,Xunta block and Yongshu-Taiping block is mainly controlled by secondary faults, the Cenozoic thickness having a low correlation with the depth of the magnetic basement.YANG Min WANG Wanyin ZHANG Gongcheng MA Jie 2021Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2021,95,1:1
