1The Electronic Transport Channel Protection and Tuning in Real Space to Boost the Thermoelectric Performance of Mg_(3+δ)Sb_(2-y)Bi_(y) near Room Temperature显示文摘The optimization of thermoelectric materials involves the decoupling of the transport of electrons and phonons.In this work,an increased Mg_(1)-Mg_(2) distance,together with the carrier conduction network protection,has been shown as an effective strategy to increase the weighted mobility(U=μm∗3/2)and hence thermoelectric power factor of Mg_(3+δ)Sb_(2-y)Bi_(y) family near room temperature.Mg_(3+δ)Sb_(0.5)Bi_(1.5) has a high carrier mobility of 247 cm^(2)V^(-1) s^(-1) and a record power factor of 3470μWm^(-1) K^(-2) at room temperature.Considering both efficiency and power density,Mg_(3+δ)Sb_(1.0)Bi_(1.0) with a high average ZT of 1.13 and an average power factor of 3184μWm^(-1) K^(-2) in the temperature range of 50-250℃ would be a strong candidate to replace the conventional n-type thermoelectric material Bi_(2)Te_(2.7)Se_(0.3).The protection of the transport channel through Mg sublattice means alloying on Sb sublattice has little effect on electron while it significantly reduces phonon thermal conductivity,providing us an approach to decouple electron and phonon transport for better thermoelectric materials.Zhijia Han Zhigang Gui Y.BZhu Peng Qin Bo-Ping Zhang Wenqing Zhang Li Huang Weishu Liu 2020Research2020,,1:5
2Effectiveness of flesh-moistening paste in psoriasis vulgaris patients with symptom pattern of blood stasis:a randomized and parallel-controlled trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of flesh-moistening paste for treating psoriasis vulgaris in patients with blood stasis pattern in terms of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM).METHODS:Eudipleural rashes on both the left and right side of the same patients with psoriasis vulgaris,diagnosed via TCM as blood stasis pattern,were selected as the targeted skin lesions.A randomized,double-blind,parallel-controlled,multicenter controlled trial was conducted.The targeted skin lesions were categorized into either the treatment or control group.The treatment group used the flesh-moistening paste;the control group used a placebo.Both the paste and the placebo were topically applied twice daily for eight weeks.The patients were examined biweekly to evaluate the effects.The two groups were compared in terms of the psoriasis area and severity index(PASI)of the targeted skin lesions,which is scored according to erythema,desquamation,infiltration,area,pruritus,and improvement of skin barrier function.Adverse events were recorded during the study period.SPSS 21.0 was used to analyze the data.RESULTS:Fifty-six patients were enrolled between February 2016 and October 2017.Two were complicated by cardio-cerebrovascular disease and were excluded;thus,54 outpatients were finally enrolled in the study.Four dropped out during the study period:three failed to complete their follow-up visits for unknown reasons,and one exited due to an adverse event.The final trial comprised 50 of the 56 originally selected patients,with a 92.6%completion rate.After 8 weeks of treatment,the targeted skin lesion scores differed significantly(P<0.05).The PASI scores of the targeted skin lesions differed significantly beginning at week 6(P<0.05).The treatment group presented better results than those of the control group.Only one patient had an adverse reaction associated with the treatment.Improvements in skin barrier function differed significantly(P<0.05).CONCLUSION:The flesh-moistening paste demonstrated a reliable curative effect and safety for treating psoriasis vulgaris in patients with blood stasis patterns.The topical paste improved the barrier function of the skin lesions.Guo Xinwei Lang Na Li Guanru Li Ping Qu Jianhua Zhou Dongmei Wang Ping Cang Zhang Deng BingXu Lou Weihai Xu Jingna Lan Haibing Liu Yumin Zhang Weishu Sun Liyun 2020Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2020,40,6:4

7High-quality Cymbidium mannii genome and multifaceted regulation of crassulacean acid metabolism in epiphytes显示文摘Epiphytes with crassulacean acid metabolism(CAM)photosynthesis are widespread among vascular plants,and repeated evolution of CAM photosynthesis is a key innovation for micro-ecosystem adaptation.However,we lack a complete understanding of the molecular regulation of CAM photosynthesis in epiphytes.Here,we report a high-quality chromosome-level genome assembly of a CAM epiphyte,Cymbidium mannii(Orchidaceae).The 2.88-Gb orchid genome with a contig N50 of 22.7 Mb and 27192 annotated genes was organized into 20 pseudochromosomes,82.8%of which consisted of repetitive elements.Recent expansions of long terminal repeat retrotransposon families have made a major contribution to the evolution of genome size in Cymbidium orchids.We reveal a holistic scenario of molecular regulation of metabolic physiology using high-resolution transcriptomics,proteomics,and metabolomics data collected across a CAM diel cycle.Patterns of rhythmically oscillating metabolites,especially CAM-related products,reveal circadian rhythmicity in metabolite accumulation in epiphytes.Genomewide analysis of transcript and protein level regulation revealed phase shifts during the multifaceted regulation of circadian metabolism.Notably,we observed diurnal expression of several core CAM genes(especially bCA and PPC)that may be involved in temporal fixation of carbon sources.Our study provides a valuable resource for investigating post-transcription and translation scenarios in C.mannii,an Orchidaceae model for understanding the evolution of innovative traits in epiphytes.Weishu Fan Zheng-Shan He Mengqing Zhe Jing-Qiu Feng Le Zhang Yiwei Huang Fang Liu Jia-Lin Huang Ji-Dong Ya Shi-Bao Zhang Jun-Bo Yang Andan Zhu De-Zhu Li 2023Plant Communications2023,4,5:1

9Rapid evolution of T2/S-RNase genes in Fragaria linked to multiple transitions from self-incompatibility to self-compatibility显示文摘The T2/RNase gene family is widespread in eukaryotes,and particular members of this family play critical roles in the gametophytic self-incompatibility(GSI) system in plants.Wild diploid strawberry(Fragaria)species have diversified their sexual systems via self-incompatible and self-compatible traits,yet how these traits evolved in Fragaria remains elusive.By integrating the published and de novo assembled genomes and the newly generated RNA-seq data,members of the RNase T2 gene family were systematically identified in six Fragaria species,including three self-incompatible species(Fragaria nipponica,Fragaria nubicola,and Fragaria viridis) and three self-compatible species(Fragaria nilgerrensis,Fragaria vesca,and Fragaria iinumae).In total,115 RNase T2 genes were identified in the six Fragaria genomes and can be classified into three classes(Ⅰ-Ⅲ) according to phylogenetic analysis.The identified RNase T2 genes could be divided into 22 homologous gene sets according to amino acid sequence similarity and phylogenetic and syntenic relationships.We found that extensive gene loss and pseudogenization coupled with small-scale duplications mainly accounted for variations in the RNase T2 gene numbers in Fragaria.Multiple copies of homologous genes were mainly generated from tandem and segmental duplication events.Furthermore,we newly identified five S-RNase genes in three self-incompatible Fragaria genomes,including two in F.nipponica,two in F.viridis,and one in F.nubicola,which fit for typical features of a pistil determinant,including highly pistil-specific expression,highly polymorphic proteins and alkaline isoelectric point(pI),while no S-RNase genes were found in all three selfcompatible Fragaria species.Surprisingly,these T2/S-RNase genes contain at least one large intron(>10 kb).This study revealed that the rapid evolution of T2/S-RNase genes within the Fragaria genus could be associated with its sexual mode,and repeated evolution of the self-compatible traits in Fragaria was convergent via losses of S-RNase.Wu Chen Hong Wan Fang Liu Haiyuan Du Chengjun Zhang Weishu Fan Andan Zhu 2023Plant Diversity2023,45,2:1

11Anionic entanglement-induced giant thermopower in ionic thermoelectric material Gelatin-CF_(3)SO_(3)K–CH_(3)SO_(3)K显示文摘Ionic thermoelectric(i-TE)technologies can power Internet of Things(IoT)sensors by harvesting thermal energy from the environment because of their large thermopowers.Present research focuses mostly on using the interactions between ions and matrices to enhance i-TE performance,but i-TE materials can benefit from utilizing different methods to control ion transport.Here,we introduced a new strategy that employs an ion entanglement effect.A giant thermopower of 28 mV K^(-1)was obtained in a quasi-solid-state i-TE Gelatin-CF_(3)SO_(3)K–CH_(3)SO_(3)K gel via entanglement between CF_(3)SO_(3)^(-)and CH_(3)SO_(3)^(-)anions.The anionic entanglement effect involves complex interactions between these two anions,slowing anionic thermodiffusion and thus suppressing bipolar effects and boosting p-type thermopower.A Au@Cu|Gelatin-CF_(3)SO_(3)K–CH_(3)SO_(3)K|Au@Cu i-TE device with a generator mode delivers a specific output energy density of 67.2 mJ m^(-2)K^(-2)during 2 h of discharging.Long-term operation.Qikai Li Cheng-Gong Han Shuaihua Wang Cai-Chao Ye Xinbo Zhang Xiao Ma Tao Feng Yuchen Li Weishu Liu 2023eScience2023,3,5:0
12Effectiveness and safety of different amifostine regimens:Preliminary results of a phase Ⅱ multicenter randomized controlled trial显示文摘Objective:The radioprotective effects of amifostine remain uncertain in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC),and adverse effects and cost limit generalization of its classical everyday regimen.This phase II multicenter randomized controlled trial aimed to explore whether amifostine could ameliorate the toxicities of NPC patients in the era of intensity-modulated radiotherapy(IMRT),and to compare different regimens of amifostine on effectiveness and safety.Methods:Patients with stage I–IVB NPC were involved prospectively from January 1st,2013.All patients received radical treatment based on IMRT.After a randomization stratified by their stage,these patients were allocated into 3 groups:the group treated without amifostine,the group treated with the everyday regimen of amifostine,and the group treated with the every-other-day regimen.The 3 groups of patients were compared on radiotherapy-related acute toxicities,treatment effects of NPC,and amifostine-related complications.This trial was registered on the clinicaltrials.gov(ID:NCT01762514).Results:Until August 31st,2017,totally 187 patients completed experimental intervention.Only amifostine of everyday regimen appeared to reduce the patient proportion of mucositis(79.1%vs.96.8%,P=0.002).Hypocalcemia was less common in patients treated without amifostine than in those treated with amifostine(22.6%vs.53.4%vs.41.8%,P=0.002).Neither complete remission rates nor the survivals were affected by amifostine.Conclusions:Amifostine of everyday regimen could reduce mucositis in NPC patients who received IMRT,though it also had the possibility to cause more hypocalcemia.Hui Chang Wei Yi Xiaohui Wang Yalan Tao Xin Yang Chen Chen Wenwen Zhang Shu Zhou Songran Liu Xiaohui Li Shirong Ding Jing Li Gong Li Xunfan Shao Yimin Liu Weishu Song Yunfei Xia 2018Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2018,30,3:0
13Polaron interfacial entropy as a route to high ther moelectric perfor mance in DAE-doped PEDOT:PSS films显示文摘Enhancing the thermoelectric transport properties of conductive polymer materials has been a long-term challenge,in spite of the success seen with molecular doping strategies.However,the strong coupling between the thermopower and the electrical conductivity limits thermoelectric performance.Here,we use polaron interfacial occupied entropy engineering to break through this intercoupling for a PEDOT:PSS(poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)-poly(4-styrenesulfonate))thin film by using photochromic diarylethene(DAE)dopants coupled with UV-light modulation.With a 10-fold enhancement of the thermopower from 13.5μV K^(-1) to 135.4μV K^(-1) and almost unchanged electrical conductivity,the DAE-doped PEDOT:PSS thin film achieved an extremely high power factor of 521.28μW m^(-1) K^(-2) from an original value of 6.78μW m^(-1) K^(-2).The thermopower was positively correlated with the UV-light intensity but decreased with increasing temperature,indicating resonant coupling between the planar closed DAE molecule and PEDOT.Both the experiments and theoretical calculations consistently confirmed the formation of an interface state due to this resonant coupling.Interfacial entropy engineering of polarons could play a critical role in enhancing the thermoelectric performance of the organic film.Jiajia Zhang Caichao Ye Genwang Wei Liang Guo Yuhang Cai Zhi Li Xinzhi Wu Fangyi Sun Qikai Li Yupeng Wang Huan Li Yuchen Li Shuaihua Wang Wei Xu Xuefeng Guo Wenqing Zhang Weishu Liu 2024National Science Review2024,11,3:0

15Plastid RNA editing reduction accompanied with genetic variations in Cymbidium,a genus with diverse lifestyle modes显示文摘Recent sequencing efforts have broadly uncovered the evolutionary trajectory of plastid genomes(plastomes)of flowering plants in diverse habitats,yet our knowledge of the evolution of plastid posttranscriptional modifications is limited.In this study,we generated 11 complete plastomes and performed ultra-deep transcriptome sequencing to investigate the co-evolution of plastid RNA editing and genetic variation in Cymbidium,a genus with diverse trophic lifestyles.Genome size and gene content is reduced in terrestrial and green mycoheterotrophic orchids relative to their epiphytic relatives.This could be partly due to extensive losses and pseudogenization of ndh genes for the plastid NADH dehydrogenase-like complex,but independent pseudogenization of ndh genes has also occurred in the epiphyte C.mannii,which was reported to use strong crassulacean acid metabolism photosynthesis.RNA editing sites are abundant but variable in number among Cymbidium plastomes.The nearly twofold variation in editing abundance is mainly due to extensive reduction of ancestral editing sites in ndh transcripts of terrestrial,mycoheterotrophic,and C.mannii plastomes.The co-occurrence of editing reduction and pseudogenization in ndh genes suggests functional constraints on editing machinery may be relaxed,leading to nonrandom loss of ancestral edited sites via reduced editing efficiency.This study represents the first systematic examination of RNA editing evolution linked to plastid genome variation in a single genus.We also propose an explanation for how genomic and posttranscriptional variations might be affected by lifestyle-associated ecological adaptation strategies in Cymbidium.Mengqing Zhe Le Zhang Fang Liu Yiwei Huang Weishu Fan Junbo Yang Andan Zhu 2022Plant Diversity2022,44,3:0
16Development of an intelligent heterojunction fenton catalyst for chemodynamic/starvation synergistic cancer therapy显示文摘Chemodynamic therapy(CDT)as an emerging modality in cancer treatment,its implementation remains a daunting challenge by the lack of smart Fenton catalyst under acidic tumor microenvironments.Herein,we have successfully constructed a Fe_(3)O_(4)@MIL-100 heterojunction by growing Fe-based metal-organic framework(MIL-100)onto the surface of Fe_(3)O_(4) nanoparticles.The as-made heterojunction after encapsu-lating glucose oxidase(termed FMG)is demonstrated as a pH-responsive intelligent Fenton nanosystem with the synergistic effect of starvation therapy(ST).Density functional theory(DFT)calculations reveal that such heterojunction could greatly reduce the energy barrier of the Fenton reaction,which better ex-plains the mechanism of Fenton performance improvement.Moreover,the encapsulated glucose oxidase has successfully activated the ST process,in which its generated H_(2)O_(2) and gluconic acid further improve the CDT efficiency.More O_(2) from the enhanced CDT in turn promotes the enzymatic reaction of glucose oxidase.The Fenton/cascade enzymatic reaction operates in a self-feedback manner as proposed.In vitro and in vivo experiments demonstrate that such intelligent Fenton nanoreactors provide a powerful anti-cancer mechanism for effective tumor ablation with enough safety.This work provides insights into the developments of MOF-based heterojunctions as powerful anticancer treatment nanoreactors.Weishu Ni Ke Jiang Qiaomei Ke Jia Su Xianying Cao Ling Zhang Chunxia Li 2023Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023,,10:0
