1Laboratory Evaluation of the Molluscicidal Activity of Pulsatilla Chinensis(Bunge)Regel Saponins against the Snail Oncomelania Hupensis显示文摘Objective To observe the toxicity of Pulsatilla chinensis(Bunge) Regel saponins(PRS) against Oncomelania hupensis(O.hupensis).Methods O.hupensis snails were exposed to 40% and 80% of 24 h LC50 of PRS for 24 h,and then choline esterase(CHE),alanine aminotransferase(ALT),alkaline phosphatase(ALP),lactate dehydrogenase(LDH) activities in cephalopodium and liver of snails were determined.Niclosamide(NIC) was used as the reference molluscicide.Zebra fish lethality test was evaluated to non-target aquatic species of PRS.Results The molluscicidal activity of PRS(LC50 at 24 h:0.48 mg/L) was similar to that of NIC(LC50 at 24 h:0.16 mg/L).Significant alterations about CHE,ALP,and ALT activities both in the cephalopodium and the liver of snails were observed when O.hupensis was exposed to 40% and 80% LC50 of PRS or NIC for 24 h.PRS and NIC could not affect LDH activity in the cephalopodium and the liver.Lower toxicity to fish of PRS was observed up to the highest concentration tested than NIC.Conclusion PRS,as compared with the reference molluscicide NIC,is thought to be used for the control of harmful vector snails safely.CHEN Yan Qin XU Qiong Ming LIU Yan Li LI Xiao Ran YANG Shi Lin ZHUGE Hong Xiang 2012Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2012,25,2:8
2Utility of Droplet Digital PCR Assay for Quantitative Detection of Norovirus in Shellfish, from Production to Consumption in Guangxi, China显示文摘Objective Shellfish are recognized as important vehicles of norovirus-associated gastroenteritis. The present study aimed to monitor norovirus contamination in oysters along the farm-to-fork continuum in Guangxi, a major oyster production area in Southwestern China. Methods Oyster samples were collected monthly from farms, markets, and restaurants, from January to December 2016. Norovirus was detected and quantified by one-step reverse transcription-droplet digital polymerase chain reaction(RT-ddPCR). Results A total of 480 oyster samples were collected and tested for norovirus genogroups I and II. Norovirus was detected in 20.7% of samples, with genogroup II predominating. No significant difference was observed in norovirus prevalence among different sampling sites. The norovirus levels varied widely, with a geometric mean of 19,300 copies/g in digestive glands. Both norovirus prevalence and viral loads showed obvious seasonality, with a strong winter bias. Conclusion This study provides a systematic analysis of norovirus contamination ‘from the farm to the fork' in Guangxi. RT-ddPCR can be a useful tool for detection and quantification of low amounts of norovirus in the presence of inhibitors found particularly in foodstuffs. 3Identification and Validation of Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms in Poplar Using Publicly Expressed Sequence Tags显示文摘By using assembled expressed sequence tags (ESTs) from 14 different cDNA libraries that contain 84 132 sequences reads, 556 Populus candidate single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were identified. Because traces were not available from dbEST (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/dbEST/index.html),stringent filters were used to identify reliable candidate SNPs. Sequences analysis indicated that the main types of substitutions among candidate SNPs were A/G and T/C transitions, which accounted for 22.0% and 30.8%, respectively. One hundred and ten candidate SNPs were tested. As a result, 38 candidate SNPs were confirmed by directed sequencing of PCR products amplified from six different individuals. Thirteen new SNPs in intron regions were found and multiple SNPs were found to be located in both intron and exon regions of four contigs. Heterozygosis was found in all 47 candidate sites and five SNP sites were heterozygous in all six samples. 10Distinct Element Modelling of Unreinforced Masonry Wall Under Seismic Loads with and without Cable Retrofitting显示文摘To retrofit and strengthen existing unreinforced masonry (URM) structures to resist the potential earthquake damages has become an important issue in Australia. In order to secure the performance of URM under seismic loading in the future, a research project was carried out aimed at developing a simple and high strength seismic retrofitting technique for masonry structures. A series of experimental testing on URM walls retrofitted with an innovative technique by cable system have been conducted. The results indicated that both the strength and ductility of the tested speci-mens were significantly enhanced with the technique. An analytical model which is based on Dis-tinct Element Method (DEM) has also been developed to simulate the behaviour of URM walls be-fore and after retrofitting. 11Operation management of green ports and shipping networks: overview and research opportunities显示文摘Global ports and maritime shipping networks are important carriers for global supply chain networks, but they are also the main sources of energy consumption and pollution. To limit ship emissions in ports and offshore areas, the International Maritime Organization, as well as some countries, has issued a series of policies. This study highlights the importance and necessity of investigating emergent research problems in the operation management of green ports and maritime shipping networks. Considerable literature related to this topic is reviewed and discussed. Moreover, a comprehensive research framework on green port and shipping operation management is proposed for future research opportunities. The framework mainly comprises four research areas related to emission control and grading policies. 14Thermal Performance of a Micro Heat Pipe Array for Battery Thermal Management Under Special Vehicle-Operating Conditions显示文摘The thermal management of battery systems is critical for maintaining the energy storage capacity,life span,and thermal safety of batteries used in electric vehicles,because the operating temperature is a key factor affecting battery performance.Excessive temperature rises and large temperature differences accelerate the degradation rate of such batteries.Currently,the increasing demand for fast charging and special on-vehicle scenarios has increased the heat dissipation requirements of battery thermal management systems.To address this demand,this work proposes a novel micro heat pipe array(MHPA)for thermal management under a broadened research scope,including high heat generation rates,large tilt angles,mild vibration,and distributed heat generation conditions.The experimental results indicate that the temperature difference is maintained 3.44°C at a large heat generation of 50 W for a limited range of tilt angles.Furthermore,a mild vehicle vibra-tion condition was found to improve temperature uniformity by 3.3°C at a heat generation of 10 W.However,the use of distributed heat sources results in a temperature variation of 3.88°C,suggesting that the heat generation distribution needs to be considered in thermal analyses.Understanding the effects of these special battery-operating conditions on the MHPA could significantly contribute to the enhancement of heat transfer capability and temperature uniformity improvement of battery thermal management systems based on heat pipe technologies.This would facilitate the realization of meeting the higher requirements of future battery systems.Chengning Yao Dan Dan Yangjun Zhang Yueqi Wang Yuping Qian Yuying Yan Weilin Zhuge 2020Automotive Innovation2020,3,4:1
15Field test of multi-hop image sensing network prototype on a city-wide scale显示文摘Wireless multimedia sensor networks drastically stretch the horizon of traditional monitoring and surveillance systems. Most existing research has utilized Zigbee or WiFi as the communication technology. Both technologies use ultra-high frequencies (primarily 2.4 GHz) and suffer from a relatively short transmission range (i.e., 100 m line-of-sight). The objective of this study is to assess the feasibility and potential of transmitting image information using RF modules with lower frequencies (e.g., 433 MHz) to achieve a larger-scale deployment as in a city scenario. The Arduino platform is used because of its low cost and simplicity. Details of hardware properties are provided in this article, and we investigate optimum configurations for the system. After achieving an initial range test transmission distance of more than 2000 m line-of-sight, the prototype network is installed in a real life city plot for further examination of performance. 16Local buckling of thin plate on tensionless elastic foundations under interactive uniaxial compression and shear显示文摘This paper uses a mathematical method to develop an analytical solution to the local buckling behaviour of long rectangular plates resting on tensionless elastic Winkler foundations and under combined uniform longitudinal uniaxial compressive and uniform in-plane shear loads. Fitted formulas are derived for plates with clamped edges and simplified supported edges. Two examples are given to demonstrate the application of the current method: one is a plate on tensionless spring foundations and the other is the contact between the steel sheet and elastic solid foundation. Finite element(FE) analysis is also conducted to validate the analytical results. 17Acute exercise in ozone-polluted air induces apoptosis in rat quadriceps femoris muscle cells via mitochondrial pathway显示文摘Ozone(O_(3))pollution can decrease sport performance and induce respiratory toxicity,but relatively few studies have investigated its effects on skeletal muscles.We randomly assigned rats to the following groups based on a 2×4 two-factor factorial design:Air+0,Air+10,Air+15,and Air+20,O_(3)+0,O_(3)+10,O_(3)+15,and O_(3)+20.The rats in the+0 groups rested,whereas those in the+10,+15,and+20 groups ran on a treadmill(in clean air for Air groups and in air polluted with 0.14 parts per million[ppm]O_(3)for O_(3)groups)at speeds of+10,+15,and+20 m/min,respectively,for 1 h.Thereafter,key enzyme activities involving the tricarboxylic acid cycle,oxidative phosphorylation,adenosine triphosphate(ATP)content,histopathological changes,oxidative stress,inflammation factors,and apoptosis were assessed in the rat quadriceps femoris samples.Ozone reduced key enzyme activities and ATP contents in the quadriceps femoris regardless of whether the rats exercised.Pathological changes,inflammatory factors,oxidative stress,and mitochondria-dependent apoptosis were only evident under conditions of exercise combined with ozone and increasingly worsened as exercise intensity increased.These findings suggested that acute exercise under ozone exposure could induce damage to the quadriceps femoris,which would negatively affect sport performance.Ozone-induced disrupted energy metabolism might be an early event that becomes more critical as exercise intensity increases.Therefore,care should be taken when exercising in polluted air,even when ozone pollution is mild.Ziyi Liu Fuxu Gong Lei Tian Jun Yan Kang Li Yizhe Tan Jie Han Yue Zhao Da Li Zhuge Xi Xiaohua Liu 2022Sports Medicine and Health Science2022,4,3:0
18hCINAP alleviates senescence by regulating MDM2 via p14ARF and the HDAC1/CoREST complex显示文摘Cellular senescence is a major process affected by multiple signals and coordinated by a complex signal response network.Identification of novel regulators of cellular senescence and elucidation of their molecular mechanisms will aid in the discoveryof new treatment strategies for aging-related diseases. In the present study, we identified human coilin-interacting nuclear ATPaseprotein (hCINAP) as a negative regulator of aging. Depletion of cCINAP significantly shortened the lifespan of Caenorhabditiselegans and accelerated primary cell aging. Moreover, mCINAP deletion markedly promoted organismal aging and stimulatedsenescence-associated secretory phenotype in the skeletal muscle and liver from mouse models of radiation-induced senescence.Mechanistically, hCINAP functions through regulating MDM2 status by distinct mechanisms. On the one hand, hCINAP decreasesp53 stability by attenuating the interaction between p14ARF and MDM2;on the other hand, hCINAP promotes MDM2 transcriptionvia inhibiting the deacetylation of H3K9ac in the MDM2 promoter by hindering the HDAC1/CoREST complex integrity. 19Valorisation of alum sludge to produce green and durable mortar显示文摘Alum sludge is a typical by-product of drinking water treatment processes.Most sludge is disposed of at landfill sites,and such a disposal method may cause significant environmental concern due to its vast amount.This paper assessed the feasibility of reusing sludge as a supplementary cementitious material,which could efficiently exhaust stockpiled sludge.Specifically,the pozzolanic reactivity of sludge at different temperatures,the reaction mechanism of the sludge-cement binder,and the resistance of sludge-derived mortar to microbially induced corrosion were investigated.The obtained results indicated that 800℃ was the optimal calcination temperature for sludge.Mortar containing sludge up to 30%by weight showed comparable physical properties at a curing age of 90 days.Mortar with 10%cement replaced by sludge can significantly improve the resistance to biogenic corrosion due to the formation of Al-bearing phases with high resistance to acidic media,e.g.,Ca_(4)Al_(2)O_(7)·xH_(2)O and strätlingite.Qiong Jia Yan Zhuge Weiwei Duan Yue Liu Jing Yang Osama Youssf Jinsuo Lu 2022Waste Disposal and Sustainable Energy2022,4,4:0
