| 1 | A model for discrimination and prediction of mental workload of aircraft cockpit display interface显示文摘With respect to the ergonomic evaluation and optimization in the mental task design of the aircraft cockpit display interface, the experimental measurement and theoretical modeling of mental workload were carried out under flight simulation task conditions using the performance evaluation, subjective evaluation and physiological measurement methods. The experimental results show that with an increased mental workload, the detection accuracy of flight operation significantly reduced and the reaction time was significantly prolonged; the standard deviation of R-R intervals(SDNN) significantly decreased, while the mean heart rate exhibited little change; the score of NASA_TLX scale significantly increased. On this basis, the indexes sensitive to mental workload were screened, and an integrated model for the discrimination and prediction of mental workload of aircraft cockpit display interface was established based on the Bayesian Fisher discrimination and classification method. The original validation and cross-validation methods were employed to test the accuracy of the results of discrimination and prediction of the integrated model, and the average prediction accuracies determined by these two methods are both higher than 85%. Meanwhile, the integrated model shows a higher accuracy in discrimination and prediction of mental workload compared with single indexes. | 2 | Study of the temporal and spatial patterns of drought in the Yellow River basin based on SPEI显示文摘Drought is one of the severe natural disasters to impact human society and occurs widely and frequently in China,causing considerable damage to the living environment of humans.The Yellow River basin(YRB)of China shows great vulnerability to drought in the major basins;thus,drought monitoring in the YRB is particularly important.Based on monthly data of 124 meteorological stations from 1961 to 2015,the Standardized Precipitation Evapotranspiration Index(SPEI)was used to explore the temporal and spatial patterns of drought in the YRB.The periods and trends of drought were identified by Extreme-point Symmetric Mode Decomposition(ESMD),and the research stages were determined by Bernaola-Galvan Segmentation Algorithm(BGSA).The annual and seasonal variation,frequency and intensity of drought were studied in the YRB.The results indicated that(1)for the past 55 years,the drought in the YRB has increased significantly with a tendency rate of-0.148(10 a)^(-1),in which the area Lanzhou to Hekou was the most vulnerable affected(-0.214(10 a)^(-1));(2)the drought periods(2.9,5,10.2 and 18.3 years)and stages(1961–1996,1997–2002 and 2003–2015)were characterized and detected by ESMD and BGSA;(3)the sequence of drought frequency was summer,spring,autumn and winter with mean values of 71.0%,47.2%,10.2%and 6.9%,respectively;and(4)the sequence of drought intensity was summer,spring,winter and autumn with mean values of 0.93,0.40,0.05 and 0.04,respectively. | Fei WANG Zongmin WANG Haibo YANG Yong ZHAO | 2018 | Science China Earth Sciences2018,61,8: | 16 |

| 4 | Preparation of Li_4Ti_5O_(12) submicrospheres and their application as anode materials of rechargeable lithium-ion batteries显示文摘We report on the preparation of spinel Li4Ti5O12 submicrospheres and their application as anode materials of rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. The spinel Li4Ti5O12 submicrospheres are synthesized with three steps of the hydrolysis of TiCl4 to form rutile TiO2, the hydrothermal treatment of rutile TiO2 with LiOH to prepare an intermediate phase of LiTi2O4+δ, and the calcinations of LiTi2O4+δ to obtain spinel Li4Ti5O12. The as-prepared products are investigated by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The diameters of Li4Ti5O12 submicrospheres with novel hierarchical microstructures are about 200–300 nm with the assembly of 20–30 nm nanoparticles. The electrochemical properties of Li4Ti5O12 submicrospheres are measured by galvanostatical discharge/charge test and cyclic voltammetry (CV). The as-prepared Li4Ti5O12 display excellent discharge/charge rate and cycling capability. A high discharge capacity of 174.3 mAh/g is obtained in the first discharge at 1 C rate. Meanwhile, there is only tiny capacity fading with nearly 100% columbic efficiency in the sequential 5–50 cycles. Moreover, lithium-ion diffusion coefficient in Li4Ti5O12 is calculated to be 1.03 × 10-7 cm2/s. | 7 | IL-17A-dependent gut microbiota is essential for regulating diet-induced disorders in mice显示文摘The gut microbiota plays a key role in obesity and related metabolic disorders, and multiple factors including diet, host genotype, and age regulate it. Many studies have examined the contribution of extrinsic factors to the regulation of the gut microbiota, but the importance of the host genetic constitution cannot be ignored. Interleukin 17A(IL-17A), a pro-inflammatory cytokine, is important in the defense against infection and diseases. Here, we investigated the association among IL-17, a high-fat diet(HFD), and the gut microbiota. Mice deficient in IL-17A were resistant to diet-induced obesity and related diseases. Compared with the Ⅱ-17^(-/-)mice, wild-type(WT) mice challenged with HFD showed obvious weight fluctuations, such as those seen in type 2 diabetes, and hematological changes similar to those associated with metabolic syndrome. However, housing WT mice and Ⅱ-17a^(-/-)mice together significantly alleviated these symptoms in the WT mice. A metagenomic analysis of the mouse feces indicated that the microbial community compositions of these two groups differed before HFD feeding. The HFD mediated shifts in the gut microbial compositions, which were associated with the mouse phenotypes.We also identified potentially beneficial and harmful species present during this period, and drew networks of the most abundant species. A functional analysis indicated pathway changes in the WT and Ⅱ-17a^(-/-)mice when fed the HFD. | 11 | Numerical investigation on the thermal protection mechanism for blunt body with forward-facing cavity显示文摘Numerical experiments are carried out using the standard hypersonic ballistic-type model(HB-2) to investigate the effect of forward-facing cavity on the aerodynamic heating. A general concept is proposed which utilizes the flow disturbances generated passively in the nosed subsonic region to weaken the detached shock wave. Several aspects are mainly studied, including shock shape and standoff distance, surface heat flux and pressure, flowfield feature and cooling mechanism. The numerical results indicate that shock strength and standoff distance increase with an increase in the L/D ratio of the cavity. Interestingly, a bulge structure of the detached shock associated with a deep cavity is observed for the first time. Local surface heat flux and pressure around the concave nose are much lower respectively than those at the stagnation point of the baseline model. In addition, both surface heat and pressure reductions are proportional to the L/D ratio. A negative heating phenomenon may occur in the vicinity of a sharp lip or on the base wall of a deep cavity. | 13 | Rice GLUTATHIONE PEROXIDASE1-mediated oxidation of bZIP68 positively regulates ABA-independent osmotic stress signaling显示文摘Osmotic stress caused by drought and high salinity is a significant environmental threat that limits plant growth and agricultural yield. Redox regulation plays an important role in plant stress responses, but the mechanisms by which plants perceive and transduce redox signals are still underexplored. Here, we report a critical function for the thiol peroxidase GPX1 in osmotic stress response in rice, where it serves as a redox sensor and transducer. GPX1 is quickly oxidized upon exposure to osmotic stress and forms an intramolecular disulfide bond, which is required for the activation of bZIP68, a VRE-like basic leucine zipper (bZIP) transcription factor involved in the ABA-independent osmotic stress response pathway. The disulfide exchange between GPX1 and bZIP68 induces homo-tetramerization of bZIP68 and thus positively regulates osmotic stress response by regulating osmotic-responsive gene expression. Furthermore, we discovered that the nuclear translocation of GPX1 is regulated by its acetylation under osmotic stress.
