1Discovery of seep carbonate nodules as new evidence for gas venting on the northern continental slope of South China Sea显示文摘Seep carbonate nodules were firstlycollected from the southwestern Dongsha area onnorthern continental slope of South China Sea formineralogical and geochemical studies. The resultsof X-ray diffraction show that carbonate nodules arecomposed of Fe-rich domolite,siderite and a few cal-cite and aragonite, as well as a small quantity ofnon-carbonate minerals such as goethite, quartz andclay minerals. Fe-rich dolomite and siderite charac-terized by euhedral microcrystalline structure weredirectly precipitated at cold seeps. The δ 13C valuesfor Fe-rich dolomite and siderite in the bulk nodulesvary from ?18.24‰ to ?36.07‰, and the δ 18O valuesrange from 0.42 to 2.76‰. Their moderate depleted13C reflects that carbon origin is possibly thermoge- netic gas or mixed gas, which is evidence of gasventings in the seafloor. Moreover, massive wormtube fossils related to cold seeps were found on thesurfaces of carbonate nodules, and the conduitsand/or channels in semi-solidified nodules whichwere not filled by carbonate or sediment were alsoobserved. 2Kinetic studies of gas hydrate formation with low-dosage hydrate inhibitors显示文摘Pipeline blockage by gas hydrates is a serious problem in the petroleum industry.Low-dosage inhibitors have been developed for its cost-effective and environmentally acceptable characteristics.In a 1.072-L reactor with methane,ethane and propane gas mixture under the pressure of about 8.5 MPa at 4 °C,hydrate formation was investigated with low-dosage hydrate inhibitors PVP and GHI1,the change of the compressibility factor and gas composition in the gas phase was analyzed,the gas contents in hydrates were compared with PVP and GHI1 added,and the inhibition mechanism of GHI1 was discussed.The results show that PVP and GHI1 could effectively inhibit the growth of gas hydrates but not nucleation.Under the experimental condition with PVP added,methane and ethane occupied the small cavities of the hydrate crystal unit and the ability of ethane entering into hydrate cavities was weaker than that of methane.GHI1 could effectively inhibit molecules which could more readily form hydrates.The ether and hydroxy group of diethylene glycol monobutyl ether have the responsibility for stronger inhibition ability of GHI1 than PVP.TANG CuiPing 1,2,DAI XingXue 1,2,DU JianWei 1,2,LI DongLiang 1,2,ZANG XiaoYa 1,2,YANG XiangYang 1 & LIANG DeQing 1 1 Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion,Key Laboratory of Renewable Energy and Gas Hydrate,Chinese Academy of Sciences,Guangzhou 510640,China 2 Graduate University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences,Beijing 100039,China 2010Science China Chemistry2010,53,12:9

The sample THF solution is over saturated in order to avoid the effect of ice. And also to avoid the effect of crystal anisotropy, the THF hydrate was crushed to measure. 4The biomarkers of 2,6,10,15, 19-pentamethylicosenes and their carbon isotopic composition in the sediments from the Gulf of Mexico显示文摘A group of 2,6,10,15,19-pentamethyli- cosenes (PMIΔ) containing 1―5 unsaturated double bonds has been identified in the sea floor sediments from the Gulf of Mexico at the Green Canyon 238 site.These PMIΔ compounds are distributed between nC22 and nC24 on the mass chromatogram of aliphatic fraction. Their δ 13C values are very much depleted in 13C and in the range of ?86.7‰ to ?115.5‰, whereas the δ 13C values of companion n-alkanes range from ?28.4‰ to ?34.6‰. These unsaturated PMIΔ com-pounds are typical biomarkers derived from the an-aerobic oxidation of methane mediated by meth-ane-oxidizing archaeal bacteria and indicative of the gas seeps or even the occurrence of gas hydrates in the deep sea sediments.SONG Zhiguang1,2 & WANG Cuiping1,31.
