1Wheat straw burning and its associated impacts on Beijing air quality显示文摘Based on MODIS images, large-scale flow field charts and environmental monitoring data, we thor- oughly analyzed the spatial distribution of wheat straw burning in North China, with focus on its envi- ronmental impacts on the air quality of Beijing and pollution transport paths. And we anatomized changes of air quality in Beijing under the impacts of pollution generated by wheat straw burning around. The results indicate that: (1) The North China Plain, a winter-wheat growing area, is the main source of pollutants induced by wheat straw burning in Beijing. The direction of south-west is the dominant heavy pollution transport path. (2) Impacts of wheat straw burning on air quality are mainly manifested by significantly increasing CO concentration. (3) Precursors of O3 generated by wheat straw burning, combining with favorable meteorological conditions, can induce increasing O3 concentration greatly. NO concentration will be greatly increased due to decreasing O3 concentration at night. (4) Atmospheric particles, especially the fine ones, from wheat straw burning exert considerable influ- ence on Beijing air quality. (5) Different contributions of wheat straw burning to pollutants are identified. Ratios of PM10/SO2, CO/SO2, etc., can be applied to indicate pollution extent of wheat straw burning. High ratios of PM10/SO2 and CO/SO2 show that the air quality was heavily impacted by wheat straw burning and these ratios can be employed as indicators of contribution of wheat straw burning to the degradation of Beijing air quality. (6) Randomness of wheat straw burning activities renders random outbreak of air pollution of this type. Regional and extensive wheat straw burning activities can cause serious air pollution event.LI LingJun WANG Ying ZHANG Qiang LI JinXiang YANG XiaoGuang JIN Jun 2008Science China Earth Sciences2008,51,3:37
2Air pollution characteristics and their relationship with emissions and meteorology in the Yangtze River Delta region during 2014–2016显示文摘With rapid economic growth and urbanization, the Yangtze River Delta(YRD) region in China has experienced serious air pollution challenges. In this study, we analyzed the air pollution characteristics and their relationship with emissions and meteorology in the YRD region during 2014–2016. In recent years, the concentrations of all air pollutants, except O3,decreased. Spatially, the PM2.5, PM10, SO2, and CO concentrations were higher in the northern YRD region, and NO2 and O3 were higher in the central YRD region. Based on the number of non-attainment days(i.e., days with air quality index greater than 100), PM2.5 was the largest contributor to air pollution in the YRD region, followed by O3, PM10, and NO2.However, particulate matter pollution has declined gradually, while O3 pollution worsened.Meteorological conditions mainly influenced day-to-day variations in pollutant concentrations. PM2.5 concentration was inversely related to wind speed, while O3 concentration was positively correlated with temperature and negatively correlated with relative humidity. The air quality improvement in recent years was mainly attributed to emission reductions.During 2014–2016, PM2.5, PM10, SO2, NOx, CO, NH3, and volatile organic compound(VOC)emissions in the YRD region were reduced by 26.3%, 29.2%, 32.4%, 8.1%, 15.9%, 4.5%, and0.3%, respectively. Regional transport also contributed to the air pollution. During regional haze periods, pollutants from North China and East China aggravated the pollution in the YRD region. Our findings suggest that emission reduction and regional joint prevention and control helped to improve the air quality in the YRD region.Tao Ma Fengkui Duan Kebin He Yu Qin Dan Tong Guannan Geng Xuyan Liu Hui Li Shuo Yang Siqi Ye Beiyao Xu Qiang Zhang Yongliang Ma 2019Journal of Environmental Sciences2019,31,9:26
3Air pollutants contribution and control strategies of energy-use related sources in Beijing显示文摘Based on the statistical analysis of emission inventory and ISCST3 model simulation, the emission and ambient concentration contributions of energy-use related sources to the major pollutants of SO2, NOx and PM10 in urban areas of Beijing were analyzed. The SO2 emission contributions of coal burning in power plants, industrial and heating sectors were 49%, 26% and 24% respectively. The vehicle exhaust contributed 74% of the NOx concentration. As to PM10, the industrial sector was the largest emission (28%) and concentration (21%) contributor despite of the fugitive sources. The source emission contributions of VOC and NH3, which greatly influence the generation of secondary pollutants, were discussed as well. This paper also analyzed the control strategies of energy consumption and vehicle sources, based on which the control scenario in 2008 was established and the change of emission and concentration contribution were estimated. The results show that the cleaner energy use, industrial structure improvement, transportation mode modification and single vehicle emission control will greatly improve air quality. The industrial sector will change to the largest contributor of SO2 and as to NOx, vehicle emission control is still important.HAO Jiming WANG Litao LI Lin HU Jingnan YU Xuechun 2005Science China Earth Sciences2005,48,z2:24
42000-2015年中国PM_(2.5)时空演化特征及驱动因素解析(英文)显示文摘High concentrations of PM_(2.5) are universally considered as a main cause for haze formation. Therefore, it is important to identify the spatial heterogeneity and influencing factors of PM_(2.5) concentrations for regional air quality control and management. In this study, PM_(2.5) data from 2000 to 2015 was determined from an inversion of NASA atmospheric remote sensing images. Using geo-statistics, geographic detectors, and geo-spatial analysis methods, the spatio-temporal evolution patterns and driving factors of PM_(2.5) concentration in China were evaluated. The main results are as follows.(1) In general, the average concentration of PM_(2.5) in China increased quickly and reached its peak value in 2006; subsequently, concentrations remained between 21.84 and 35.08 μg/m3.(2) PM_(2.5) is strikingly heterogeneous in China, with higher concentrations in the north and east than in the south and west. In particular, areas with relatively high PM_(2.5) concentrations are primarily in four regions, the Huang-Huai-Hai Plain, Lower Yangtze River Delta Plain, Sichuan Basin, and Taklimakan Desert. Among them, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region has the highest concentration of PM_(2.5).(3) The center of gravity of PM_(2.5) has generally moved northeastward, which indicates an increasingly serious haze in eastern China. High-value PM_(2.5) concentrations have moved eastward, while low-value PM_(2.5) has moved westward.(4) Spatial autocorrelation analysis indicates a significantly positive spatial correlation. The 'High-High' PM_(2.5) agglomeration areas are distributed in the Huang-Huai-Hai Plain, Fenhe-Weihe River Basin, Sichuan Basin, and Jianghan Plain regions. The 'Low-Low' PM_(2.5) agglomeration areas include Inner Mongolia and Heilongjiang, north of the Great Wall, Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, and Taiwan, Hainan, and Fujian and other southeast coastal cities and islands.(5) Geographic detection analysis indicates that both natural and anthropogenic factors account for spatial variations in PM_(2.5) concentration. Geographical location, population density, automobile quantity, industrial discharge, and straw burning are the main driving forces of PM_(2.5) concentration in China.周亮 周成虎 杨帆 车磊 王波 孙东琪 2019Journal of Geographical Sciences2019,29,2:22
5Rapid improvement of PM2.5 pollution and associated health benefits in China during 2013–2017显示文摘Exposure to fine particulate matter(PM2.5)is known to harm public health. In China, after implementation of aggressive emissions control measures under the Action Plan of Air Pollution Prevention and Control(2013-2017),air quality has significantly improved. In this work,we investigated changes in PM2.5 exposure and the associated health impacts in China for the period 2013-2017.We used an optimal estimator of PM2.5 combining in-situ observations, satellite measurements, and simulations from a chemical transport model to derive the spatial and temporal variations in PM2.5 exposure, and then used welldeveloped exposure-response functions to estimate the premature deaths attributable to PM2.5 exposure. We found that national population-weighed annual mean PM2.5 concentrations decreased from 67.4μgm-3 in 2013 to 45.5μgm-3 in 2017(32%reduction).This rapid decrease in PM2.5 pollution led to a 14%reduction in premature deaths due to long-term exposure. We estimated that, during 2013-2017,the premature deaths attributable to long-term PM2.5 exposure decreased from 1.2 million(95%CI:1.0,1.3;fraction of total mortality:13%)in 2013 to 1.0 million(95%CI:0.9,1.2;10%)in 2017.Despite the rapid decrease in annual mean PM2.5 concentrations, health benefits associated with reduced long-term exposure were limited, because for many cities, the PM2.5 levels remain at the portion where the exposure-response function is less steeper than that at the lowconcentration end.We also found that the deaths associated with acute exposure decreased by 61%during 2013-2017 due to rapid reduction in the number of heavily polluted days. Our results confirm that clean air policies in China have mitigated the air pollution crisis;however, continuous emissions reduction efforts are required to protect citizens from air pollution.Tao XUE Jun LIU Qiang ZHANG Guannan GENG Yixuan ZHENG Dan TONG Zhu LIU Dabo GUAN Yu BO Tong ZHU Kebin HE Jiming HAO 2019Science China Earth Sciences2019,62,12:17
6Impact of China’s Air Pollution Prevention and Control Action Plan on PM2.5 chemical composition over eastern China显示文摘China promulgated the Air Pollution Prevention and Control Action Plan(the Action Plan)in 2013 and developed stringent control measures to mitigate fine particulate matter(PM2.5) pollution. Here,we investigated the PM2.5 chemical composition changes over eastern China associated with the Action Plan during 2013-2017 using satellite-based PM2.5 chemical composition data derived using CMAQ simulations and satellite inputs. The PM2.5 concentrations decreased considerably during this time as a result of the reductions in all chemical species in PM2.5.The population-weighted mean concentrations over eastern China decreased from 11.1 to 6.7μgm-3 for SO42-,13.8-13.1μgm-3 for NO3-,7.4-5.8μgm-3 for NH4+,9.9-8.4μgm-3 for OM,4.6-3.8μg m-3 for BC and 12.9-9.6μg m-3 for other species in PM2.5.SO42-had the largest reduction of 40%,while NO3-had the lowest reduction of 5%,resulting in a greater fraction of NO3-and a smaller fraction of SO42-in PM2.5.Among the three key regions,Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei had the largest reduction in PM2.5 and its chemical compositions. The decrease in SO42-concentrations was in line with the reduction of SO2 emissions, and the major driver of the SO2 emission reductions was the industrial sector. The decrease in NO3 concentrations was limited because the decrease in SO2 emissions and the stable NH3 emissions facilitated the formation of NO3-from HNO3,which partially offset the reduction in NOx emissions driven by the power sector. To mitigate PM2.5 pollution more effectively, future efforts are needed to reduce NH3 emissions.Guannan GENG Qingyang XIAO Yixuan ZHENG Dan TONG Yuxuan ZHANG Xiaoye ZHANG Qiang ZHANG Kebin HE Yang LIU 2019Science China Earth Sciences2019,62,12:16
7PM2.5 and tropospheric O_3 in China and an analysis of the impact of pollutant emission control显示文摘This study reviewed the status of PM2.5 and tropospheric O3 observations in China(15e55N, 72e136E). Initially, the distribution of tropospheric O3 over the globe and China was determined based on satellite observations made during 2010e2013. The annual mean values were 29.78 DU and 33.97 DU over the globe and China, respectively. The distribution of PM2.5 and seasonal changes in concentrations in China were then simulated using an aerosol chemistry e climate coupled model system, with an annual mean value of 0.51×10-8kg mà3. The contributions from five different aerosols to the simulated PM2.5 concentrations in different seasons were also determined. The relationships among the emissions of aerosols, greenhouse gases and their precursors and radiative forcings were determined with reference to the(IPCC AR5) Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change the Fifth Assessment Report. From these relationships, the possible effects of controlling O3 precursors and(PM) particulate matter on the climate were considered. The influence of the control of O3 precursors was not totally clear, and reducing emissions of short-lived greenhouse gases and black carbon was considered a secondary measure for short-term(the next 50years) climate-change mitigation. Reducing emissions of CO2 is still the best strategy for meeting the target of a global average rise in surface air temperature of less than 2C. Near- and short-term emission reduction strategies are important for both effective environmental protection and climate-change mitigation.ZHANG Hua XIE Bing ZHAO Shu-Yun CHEN Qi 2014Advances in Climate Change Research2014,5,3:10
8New approaches to characterizing urban air particles in central London显示文摘Atmospheric particles in central London during July 1996 have been apportioned to sources by two complimentary techniques: (1) morphological characteristics, determined using high power light microscopy; (2) chemical composition determined by energy dispersive spectroscopy. During the study period, the majority of particles were found to be either biological in origin, or from vehicle related combustion processes. Trends in the latter group of particles are explored further. Numbers of particles per cubic metre were determined at an hourly resolution over a period of six days, and were found to be significantly correlated with other traffic pollutants such as benzene and 1,3 butadiene, although there is no relationship with mass of PM10 as measured by a nearby UK Government monitoring station. We suggest in this paper that numbers of particles from car exhausts are more representative of traffic pollution than current estimates which use monitoring by mass.A.W. Mackay *, X. Long *, N.L. 9Association between Fine Particulate Air Pollution and Outpatient Visits for Eczema in Beijing, China: A Time-series Analysis显示文摘Eczema is a very common inflammatory skin disease characterized by patches of erythematous, itchy, cracked, and scaly skin.According to the 2010 Global Burden of Disease Study, the global prevalence of eczema is 3.33% and the leading cause of skin condition-based disability-adjusted life years is eczema[1].The large health burden brought about by eczema suggests high direct medical costs and health care utilization[2].Thus, eczema prevention is of great importance in efforts to eliminate the public health burden of the disease.WANG Xiao Wen TIAN Yao Hua CAO Ya Ying SONG Jing LI Man WU Yao WANG Meng Ying HUANG Zhe HU Yong Hua 2019Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2019,32,8:4
10Overview of Urban PM_(2. 5) Numerical Forecast Models in China显示文摘This paper made an overview and introduction of urban PM_(2. 5)numerical forecast models in China, and mainly introduced air quality simulated forecast system of Beijing,Shanghai, and Nanjing. On this basis,it discussed development direction and existing problems of urban PM_(2. 5)forecast models in China. Besides,it revealed significance of numerical models for air quality forecast. In a heavy air pollution of Beijing- Tianjin- Hebei in October 6- 12 th of 2014,the forecast results indicated that pollutants was transported from south to north,so the regional transport exerts great influence on concentration of PM_(2. 5).Nianliang CHENG Hongxia LI Fan MENG Fahe CHAI 2015Asian Agricultural Research2015,7,10:4
11Complex sources of air-soil-water pollution processes in the Miyun reservoir region显示文摘The comprehensive impact of atmospheric dry deposition and wet deposition and the pollution sources of farmlands, mining areas, and towns along the Baihe River on the water quality of Miyun reservoir is investigated from the angle of the complex sources of air-soil-water pollution processes, in the context of the 1990-2001 precipitation chemical data at Shangdianzi station--a WMO regional background air pollution monitoring station 15 km far from the Miyun reservoir, in conjunction with the atmospheric dry deposition and wet deposition data of the 2002-2003 Beijing City Air Pollution Observation Field Experiment (BECAPEX). Analysis results suggest that the major ions in precipitation in the Miyun reservoir region in this period were SO, NO, NH and Ca2+; wet acid deposition quantity of Miyun reservoir in the summer half year (April to September) was greater than the quantity in the winter half year (October to March), and the annual wet acid deposition in the reservoir exhibited a rising trend with the mean 1038.45 t, the maximum 1766.31 t occurred in 1996, and the minimum 604.02 t in 1994; the long-term averaged pH of atmospheric precipitation in the Miyun reservoir region was 5.20, i.e. weakly acidic, and the interannual variation of pH values displayed a falling trend. pH values of water body at various depths in the Miyun reservoir were all greater than 7.0, but they exhibited vertical and horizontal nonhomogeneity, and at the same region pH decreased vertically with depth; the 2002 and 2003 annual dustfalls in the Miyun reservoir were 13513.08 t and 3577.64 t, respectively, and the spring dustfall was the number one in a year, accounting for the 61.91% and 44.56% of the annual totals of 2002 and 2003, respectively. Because the atmospheric dry deposition and wet depositions contain multiple types heavy metal elements and harmful elements, they to some extent exacerbated the eutrophication, acidification and potential heavy metal pollution of the reservoir water. The above comprehensive analysis results reveal the complex source characters of the air-soil-water pollution process and the multi-sphere interaction effect. Besides, summer (rainy season) is a season when local soil pollutants enter the water system of reservoir after being washed out by torrential rain or heavy precipitation, which starts the air-soil- water chaining pollution processes, and results in the water pollution of rivers and reservoirs. It is found from the statistical analysis in this paper that the water pollution of Miyun reservoir was correlated with the rain wash-out and confluent flow in the peripheral and upstream local region of the reservoir, and the pollutant concentration of the reservoir water was significantly correlated with the upstream local region precipitation. Those correlation characters reveal the effect of the air-soil-water multi-spheric interaction of reservoir water pollution process. This paper presents the point of view of the complex source analysis of reservoir water pollution and a technical approach for tracing the spatial distribution of the upstream pollution source of the water systems of reservoir.YANG Dongzhen, XU Xiangde, LIU Xiaoduan, XU Qing, DING Guoan, CHENG Xinghong, CHEN Huailiang, ZHOU Huaigang, WANG Zhenfa, WANG Wenyan Key Laboratory of Atmospheric Chemistry, Center for Atmosphere Watch and Services, Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences, CMA, Beijing 100081, China Key Laboratory of Meteorological Disasters, CAMS, Beijing 100081, China National Center for Geological Testing, Beijing 100037, China Meteorological Bureau of Henan Province, Zhenzhou 450000, China Shangdianzi Background Atmospheric Pollution Observation Station, Miyun County, Beijing 101507, China 2005Science China Earth Sciences2005,48,z2:4
12Characteristics of Surface Solar Radiation under Different Air Pollution Conditions over Nanjing, China: Observation and Simulation显示文摘Surface solar radiation (SSR) can affect climate, the hydrological cycle, plant photosynthesis, and solar power. The values of solar radiation at the surface reflect the influence of human activity on radiative climate and environmental effects, so it is a key parameter in the evaluation of climate change and air pollution due to anthropogenic disturbances. This study presents the characteristics of the SSR variation in Nanjing, China, from March 2016 to June 2017, using a combined set of pyranometer and pyrheliometer observations. The SSR seasonal variation and statistical properties are investigated and characterized under different air pollution levels and visibilities. We discuss seasonal variations in visibility, air quality index (AQI), particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5), and their correlations with SSR. The scattering of solar radiation by particulate matter varies significantly with particle size. Compared with the particulate matter with aerodynamic diameter between 2.5 μm and 10 μm (PM2.5-10), we found that the PM2.5 dominates the variation of scattered radiation due to the differences of single-scattering albedo and phase function. Because of the correlation between PM2.5 and SSR, it is an effective and direct method to estimate PM2.5 by the value of SSR, or vice versa to obtain the SSR by the value of PM2.5. Under clear-sky conditions (clearness index ≥0.5), the visibility is negatively correlated with the diffuse fraction, AQI, PM10, and PM2.5, and their correlation coefficients are ?0.50,?0.60,?0.76, and ?0.92, respectively. The results indicate the linkage between scattered radiation and air quality through the value of visibility.Hao LUO Yong HAN Chunsong LU Jun YANG Yonghua WU 2019Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2019,36,10:4

14Environmental taxation and regional inequality in China显示文摘In order to combat environmental pollution, China enacted the Environmental Protection Tax Law in early 2018. Yet the impacts of the environmental tax on individual regions with different socioeconomic statuses, which are crucial for social justice and public acceptance, remain unclear. Based on a MultiRegional Input-Output(MRIO) table and a nationally regulated tax payment calculation method, this study analyzes the distributional impacts of an environmental tax based upon province’s consumption from both inter-provincial and rural-urban aspects. The national tax revenue based on the current levy mechanism is estimated to be only one seventh of the economic loss from premature mortality caused by ambient particulate matter(PM2.5). The taxation may slightly alleviate urban-rural inequality but may not be helpful with reducing inter-provincial inequality. We further analyze two alternative levy mechanisms. If each province imposes taxes to products it consumes(rather than produces, as in the current mechanism), with the tax rate linearly dependent on its per capita consumption expenditure, this would moderately increase the national tax revenue and significantly reduce inter-provincial inequality. To better compensate for the economic costs of air pollution and reduce regional inequality, it would be beneficial to increase the tax rate nationwide and implement a levy mechanism based on provincially differentiated levels of consumption and economic status.Jingxu Wang Jintai Lin Kuishuang Feng Peng Liu Mingxi Du Ruijing Ni Lulu Chen Hao Kong Hongjian Weng Mengyao Liu Giovanni Baiocchi Yu Zhao Zhifu Mi Jing Cao Klaus Hubacek 2019Science Bulletin2019,64,22:3
15Spatial patterns and effects of air pollution and meteorological factors on hospitalization for chronic lung diseases in Beijing, China显示文摘Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD), lung cancer(LC) and tuberculosis(TB) are common chronic lung diseases that generate a large disease burden and significant health care resource use in China. The aim of this study was to quantify spatial patterns and effects of air pollution and meteorological factors on hospitalization of COPD, LC and TB in Beijing. Daily counts of hospitalization for 2010 were obtained from the Beijing Urban Employees Basic Medical Insurance(UEBMI) system.Bayesian hierarchical Poisson regression models were applied to identify spatial patterns of hospitalization for COPD, LC and TB at the district level and explore associations with inhalable particulate matter(aerodynamic diameter <10 μm, PM10), sulfur dioxide(SO2), nitrogen dioxide(NO2), mean temperature and relative humidity. There were 18,882, 14,295 and 2,940 counts of hospitalizations for COPD, LC and TB respectively, in Beijing in 2010. Clusters of high relative risk were in different locations for the three diseases. The effect of relative humidity on COPD hospitalization was most significant with a relative risk(RR) of 1.070(95%CI: 1.054, 1.086) per one percent increase. For lung cancer hospitalization, exposure to ambient SO2 was associated with a RR of 1.034(95%CI: 1.011, 1.058) per μg m–3 increase. For tuberculosis, the effect of mean temperature was significant with a RR of 1.107(95%CI: 1.038, 1.180) per °C increase. Risk factors and spatial patterns were different for hospitalization of non-infectious and infectious chronic lung disease in Beijing. Even over a short time period(one year), associations were apparent with air pollution and meteorological factors.Lin Tian Chuan Yang Zijun Zhou Ziting Wu Xiaochuan Pan Archie C. A. 16Analysis on the Relationship between Air Pollution Status and Meteorological Factors in Zhumadian City显示文摘Based on monitoring data of air quality and corresponding meteorological observation data in Zhumadian City during 2013-2015,temporalspatial distribution characteristics and influence factors of air pollution were analyzed. The results showed that >Grade II of pollution occupied a certain proportion in Zhumadian City throughout the year, and annual pollution probabilities at three stations were 11%,11% and 6%; serious pollution occurred for six times at three stations, and they all occurred in autumn and winter; pollution probabilities at three stations in autumn and winter were 18%,17% and 12%,and pollution situation in autumn and winter was more serious than that in spring and summer, and seasonal sequence of pollution frequency from low to high was spring, summer, autumn and winter. Seen from three monitoring stations, there was little difference between new and old industrial zones. Since Branch II of China Meheco Topfond Pharma Co.,Ltd. which represented largescale pollution source took pollution prevention measures, pollution was relatively light, but serious pollution was easy to appear. Seen from temporal change of pollutant concentration, monthly distribution characteristics of three kinds of air pollutants( SO_2,NO_2 and PM_(10)) showed typical one-peak-one valley pattern, and peak occurred during December-January,while valley was during July-August. Due to straw burning, monthly change curve of PM_(10) concentration had two peaks in June and October. Dekad change characteristics of three kinds of air pollutants also showed one-peak-one-valley pattern, and peak occurred from middle dekad of December to middle dekad of January, while valley was from early dekad of July to last dekad of August. The concentration correlation among three kinds of pollutants was the most significant at station 3.Additionally,concentration correlation was significant in autumn and winter, but was relatively weaker in spring and summer. The correlation between pollutant concentration and meteorological factors in the same period was the most significant in autumn, followed by winter. Negative correlation between horizontal visibility and pollutant concentration was extremely significant in winter. There was positive correlation between air pressure and pollutant concentration in summer and autumn, while the correlation was unobvious in winter and spring. There was negative correlation between air temperature and pollutant concentration, which was the most significant in autumn. Negative correlation between relative humidity and pollutant concentration was significant in summer and autumn. Total cloud cover showed significantly positive correlation with pollutant concentration in winter, but the correlation was unobvious in other seasons. Average wind velocity and NO_2 concentration maintained significantly negative correlation in whole year, and there was significantly negative correlation between average wind velocity and concentrations of other two kinds pollutants in winter, but the correlation was worse in other seasons.Chen Song 2019Meteorological and Environmental Research2019,10,2:2
17Random walk modeling of wake dispersion for the exhaust tower of an underground tunnel in urban area显示文摘In this paper, some experimental studies on the impact of effluent from an exhaust tower of an underground tunnel with special construction are reported. By measuring the flow field downstream of the tower in NJU meteorological wind tunnel, some flow characteristics in the make area were established. Based on these, an advanced random\|walk dispersion model was set up and applied successfully to the simulation of dispersion in the wake area. The modelling results were in accordance with wind tunnel measurements. The computed maximum of ground surface concentration in the building case was a factor of 3-4 higher than that in the flat case and appeared much closer to the source. The simulation indicated that random walk modelling is an effective and practical tool for the wake stream impact assessment.JIANG Wei\|mei\+1, YU Hong\|bin\+1, LI Xin\+2 (1.Department of Atmospheric Sciences, Nanjing University, Nanjing 210093, China 2.LAPC, Institute of Atmospheric Physics,Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing 100029, China) 1999Journal of Environmental Sciences1999,11,4:2
18Analysis on the Impacts of Straw Burning on Air Quality in Beijing -Tianjing - Hebei Region显示文摘The beginning of October is the high occurrence period of straw burning in North China and Jianghuai region. Heavy pollution weather caused by straw burning often takes place in recent two years, and thus human factor increases the unpredictability of the air quality forecast. In the early autumn of 2015,a continuous fog-haze weather and heavy air pollution event occurred in North China and Jianghuai region due to the straw burning. In this paper, the effect of straw burning on air quality under the same adverse diffusive meteorological conditions has been analyzed by using the ground and upper air meteorological observation data and air quality monitoring data of Environmental Protection Agency in recent two years. The comparison results show that the basic conditions of heavy pollution are weak wind and the unfavorable diffusion situation. In contrast, relative humidity is the key factor, only 40% of relative humidity during the straw burning can reach heavy pollution level during no straw burning.Ma Xiaohui Tang Yixi Sun Zhaobin Li Ziming 2017Meteorological and Environmental Research2017,8,5:2
19A framework for investigating the air quality variation characteristics based on the monitoring data: Case study for Beijing during 2013–2016显示文摘In this study, an analysis framework based on the regular monitoring data was proposed for investigating the annual/inter-annual air quality variation and the contributions from different factors(i.e., seasons, pollution periods and airflow directions), through a case study in Beijing from 2013 to 2016. The results showed that the annual mean concentrations(MC) of PM_(2.5), SO_2, NO_2 and CO had decreased with annual mean ratios of 7.5%, 28.6%, 4.6%and 15.5% from 2013 to 2016, respectively. Among seasons, the MC in winter contributed the largest fractions(25.8%~46.4%) to the annual MC, and the change of MC in summer contributed most to the inter-annual MC variation(IMCV) of PM_(2.5) and NO2. For different pollution periods, gradually increase of frequency of S-1(PM_(2.5), 0~ 75 μg/m^3) made S-1 become the largest contributor(28.8%) to the MC of PM_(2.5) in 2016, it had a negative contribution(-13.1%) to the IMCV of PM_(2.5); obvious decreases of frequencies of heavily polluted and severely polluted dominated(44.7% and 39.5%) the IMCV of PM_(2.5). For different airflow directions, the MC of pollutants under the south airflow had the most significant decrease(22.5%~62.5%), and those decrease contributed most to the IMCV of PM_(2.5)(143.3%),SO2(72.0%), NO_2(55.5%) and CO(190.3%); the west airflow had negative influences to the IMCV of PM_(2.5), NO_2 and CO. The framework is helpful for further analysis and utilization of the large amounts of monitoring data; and the analysis results can provide scientific supports for the formulation or adjustment of further air pollution mitigation policy.Jixian Cui Jianlei Lang Tian Chen Shushuai Mao Shuiyuan Cheng Zhanshan Wang Nianliang Cheng 2019Journal of Environmental Sciences2019,31,7:2
20Some reflections on researches of Future Earth changes in air quality and climate显示文摘Within the context of our current research and understanding of climate change, decisionmakers are particularly concerned with the extent of future climate change, its comprehensive impact, and the types of socioeconomic pathways available with respect to mitigation and adaptation.Among the factors contributing to these important issues, the role of air pollution in global and regional climate warming remains as one of the largest uncertainties. On the basis of understanding of the IPCC Fifth Assessment Report, specifically,in the role of air pollution in climate change, scenarios establishment, and relationship between the Shared Socioeconomic Pathways(SSPs) and Representative Concentration Pathways(RCPs).Weaknesses and reflections were discussed here especially in strengthening impact, adaptation and mitigation research that related with changes in air pollution and climate. In the future, there are needs to in-depth understand how and why the air pollution in China is so serious and changing; to understand the likely future changes in air pollution and climate; to strengthen comprehensive impact research and selective reduction strategies related to changes in air pollution and climate.Furthermore, this study outlines the needs to develop strategies to close the loop of differential impacts and costs; to establish co-benefits and sustainable development goals,to identify the crucial risks and options for synergies/trade-offs; to integrate sector-specific details with macro-economics,and to integrate the assessments of the various policy instruments. All these focus areas will help to facilitate the transition of economic development patterns towards green and low-carbon development.ZHANG Xiao-Ye 2015Advances in Climate Change Research2015,6,2:1
