Ages and Compositions of the Precambrian High-grade Basement of the Qilian Terrane and Its Adjacent Areas显示文摘Based on geological, chronological, geochemical and Nd isotopicstudies of the high-grade basement of the Qilian terrane, the authors have drawn the following main conclusions: (1) the high-grade basement of the Qilian terrane consists mainly of meta-argillo-arenaceous rocks and granites and its bulk part was formed in the period of 0.8-1.0 Ga (the Jinningian period); (2) most of the meta-argillo-arenaceous rocks and granitic rocks have strong negative Eu and Ba anomalies (Eu/Eu*= 0.47-0.71 and Ba/Ba*= 0.16-0.64), with tDM and εNd (1.0 Ga) ranging from 1.87 to 2.26 Ga and from -8.54 to -4.06 respectively, showing relatively high maturity; and (3) the Jinningian granitic rocks are a typical product of continent-continent collision, being probably related to the formation of the supercontinent Rodinia. These studies, com bined with the study of high-grade basement rocks near the Qilian terrane, suggest that before the Jinningian period, the Qilian-Qaidam northern-margin terrane and Dunhuang-Alxa terrane were separated from each other, belonging to differ ent plate systems of the North China craton and Yangtze platform respectively. The Qilian orogenic belt was the same as or similar to the Qiling orogenic belt in terms of the geological evolution history at least before the Jinningian period.WAN Yusheng, XU Zhiqin, YANG Jingsui and ZHANG Jianxin Institute of Geology, Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, Beijing 100037 2001Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2001,75,4:40
Geochronology of Ailaoshan-Jinshajiang alkali- rich intrusive rocks and their Sr and Nd isotopic characteristics显示文摘Twenty-nine isotopic ages, ranging from 41 to 27 Ma, are presented for the alkali-rich intrusive rocks and their coexisting alkaline volcanic rocks, lamprophyres and acidic porphyries, indicating that they are Tertiary in age. The alkali-rich intrusive rocks have 143Nd/144Nd ratios from 0. 512 415 to 0. 512 544, and 87Sr/86Sr ratios from 0.705 4 to 0.706 8, suggesting that their material originates from an enriched mantle source.张玉泉 谢应雯 1997Science China Earth Sciences1997,40,5:29
Alkaline Intrusives at the East Foot of the Taihang-Da Hinggan Mountains:Chronology,Sr,Nd and Pb Isotopic Characteristics and Their Implications显示文摘Based on the Rb-Sr isochron dating results, this paper suggests that the alkaline intrusive belt at the east foot of the Taihang-Da Hinggan Mountains were formed between 135 and 122 Ma. And the alkaline intrusives in the north and south sections of this belt have entirely different Sr, Nd and Pb isotopic characteristics, i.e., all the rocks in the south section have positive εSr(t) and negative εNd(t) values and all those in the north have the opposite values. On the εSr(t) versus εNd(t) correlation diagram, the samples from the south are concentrated along the enriched mantle evolution trend lines and nearby, while those from the north fall along the depleted mantle trend lines and nearby. On the Pb isotope composition diagram, most of the samples from the south section fall on the mantle Pb evolution line and nearby, while those from the north lie between the Pb evolution lines of the mantle and the erogenic belt. 4Petrology, Metamorphic Process and Genesis of The Dabie--Sulu Eclogite Belt, Eastern--Central China显示文摘The Qinling-Dabie-Sulu high-pressure and ultra-high pressure metamorphic belt wasformed by subduction and collision between the North China and Yangtze plates. The study ofthe eclogite belt is very important in understanding the evolution of the Qinling Dabie orogen. Inthe present paper the geology, petrology, minerology and chronology of the eclogites in the Dabieand Sulu areas are described. The principal conclusions of this work are as follows: (1) Based up-on the field occurrence and the P-T conditions of the eclogites, two types of eclogite can be dis-tinguished: Type 1—the low-temperature and high-pressure eclogite in the mid-late Proterozoicmetamorphic series, and Type 2—the ultra-high pressure eclogite in the late Archaean to earlyProterozoic metamorphic complex. In the Dabie area, the ultra-high-pressure eclogite,high-pressure eclogite and epidote-blueschist units are nearly parallel to each other and stretchintermittently from north to south. (2) The P-T conditions of the high-pressure eclogites and ul-tra-high pressure eclogites have been estimated. The former are formed at 450-550℃ and1.4-1.6 GPa; while the latter at 650-870℃ and >2.7-2.9 GPa in the Dabie area and at820-1000℃ and >2.8-3.1 GPa in the Sulu area. The metamorphic temperatures of the eclogitesincrease progressively from west to east. (3) The ultra-high pressure eclogites were subjected to 5stages of metamorphism: pre-eclogite epidote amphibolite facies, peak coesite eclogite facies,post-eclogite amphibolite facies, epidote-blueschist facies or epidote amphibolite facies andgreenschist facies. The general features of the PTt path of the ultra-high pressure eclogite are:clockwise pattern, progressive metamorphism being a process of slow increasing temperature andrapid increasing pressure, and the retrogressive section with nearly isothermal decompression atthe early stage, isobaric cooling at the middle stage and nearly isothermal decompression at thelate stage. (4) At least two stages of high-pressure metamorphism occurred in the orogenic belt:the high-pressure eclogite and ultra-high pressure eclogite were formed by the subduction of theoceanic crust northward beneath the North China plate or the Dabie block during theCaledonian; while the epidote-blueschist belt came into being by subdution and collision be-tween the two continental plates during the Indosinian. (5) Due to the continuous sequentialsubduction of the cold plate, the ultra high-presssure metamorphic rocks were uplifted to thecrust by the underplating processes. They can be preserved just because of the 'frozen effect' re-sulting from the continuous subduction of the cold plate. (6) The carbonates, such as magnesite, breunnerite, aragonite and dolomite, and the H2O-bearing minerals, such as phengite, epidoteand zoisite, were stable during the high-pressure and/or ultra-high pressure metamorphism.Zhang Zeming You Zhendong Han Yujing and Sang Longkang Department of Earth Sciences, China University of Geosciences, Wuhan, Hubei 1996Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)1996,70,2:17
Isotopic chronology and geological events of Precambrian complex in Taihangshan region显示文摘There are five major geological events in Precambrian complex, Taihangshan region determined by researching into geology and isotopic chronology of the complex. Basaltic magma erupted and quartz-dioritic to tonalitic magma intruded in earlier neo-Archaean, which formed horn-blende-plagiogneiss of Fuping gneiss complex and metamorphic mafic rock enclaves in TTG gneiss complex. Granulite fades metamorphism and emplacement of biotite-plagiogneiss occurred in late neo-Archaean. Extension and uplifting from the end of neo-Archaean to Paleoproterozoic era formed Chengnanzhuang large extensional deformation zones and metamorphic mafic veins emplaced into the deformation zones. Remobilization of Precambrian complex and tectonic uplifting in late Paleoproterozoic era formed Longquanguan ductile shear zone and emplacement of Nanying gneiss. Occurrence of regional granite pegmatite at the end of Paleoproterozoic era means the end of the Luliang movement.刘树文 梁海华 赵国春 华永刚 简安华 2000Science China Earth Sciences2000,43,4:15
PRELIMINARY RESEARCHES ON LICHENOMETRIC CHRONOLOGY OF HOLOCENE GLACIAL FLUCTUATIONS AND ON OTHER TOPICS IN THE HEADWATER OF URUMQI RIVER, TIAN-SHAN MOUNTAINS显示文摘This paper introduced briefly the research results on lichenometry of the Holoceneglacial fluctuations in the headwater of the Urumqi River, in the central TianshanMountains and discussed the histories of the Holocene glaciers and the climate. It isconsidered that lichenometry is one applicable method for dating the mid- and late-Holocene deposits in the cold and mountainous regions. Rhizocarpon geographicum (L.)DCand Xanthoria elegans (Link.) Th. Fr. could be used for dating the deposits of about 4500and 500 a B.P. respectively. There existed at least four periods of glacial advances whichoccurred before about 5700, 4100, 2800 and 403- 74 a B. P. respectively with the firstperiod the longest. Little Ice Age includes three stages of glacial advances which endedbefore about 403, 208 and 74 a B. P. respectively with the second stage the maximum.During the general Holocene warming processes, there existed at least four cold peri-ods which ended before about 5700, 4100, 2800 and 420- 91 a B.P. respectively,陈吉阳 1989Science China Chemistry1989,32,12:13
An Sm-Nd isotopic dating study of the Archean Kongling Complex in the Huangling area of the Yangtze Craton显示文摘Sm Nd isotopic compositions of associated amphibolites, TTG gneisses and granitic gneisses from the Archean Kongling Complex of the Yangtze Craton, South China are systematically analyzed. The results show that the amphibolites and TTG gneisses have a similar age of ca. 2 700 Ma, which well agrees with zircon U Pb dating of previous studies. However, their ε Nd ( t ) are different, suggestive of possible dissimilarity in source composition.Ling, WL Gao, S Zheng, HF Zhou, L Zhao, ZB 1998Chinese Science Bulletin1998,43,14:13

Assessment of widely used methods to derive depositional ages from detrital zircon populations显示文摘The calculation of a maximum depositional age(MDA)from a detrital zircon sample can provide insight into a variety of geological problems. However, the impact of sample size and calculation method on the accuracy of a resulting MDA has not been evaluated. We use large populations of synthetic zircon dates(N≈25,000)to analyze the impact of varying sample size(n),measurement uncertainty, and the abundance of neardepositional-age zircons on the accuracy and uncertainty of 9 commonly used MDA calculation methods.Furthermore,a new method, the youngest statistical population is tested. For each method,500 samples of n synthetic dates were drawn from the parent population and MDAs were calculated. The mean and standard deviation of each method ove r the 500 trials at each n-value(50-1000,in increments of 50)were compa red to the known depositional age of the synthetic population and used to compare the methods quantitatively in two simulation scenarios. The first simulation scenario varied the proportion of near-depositional-age grains in the synthetic population. The second scenario varied the uncertainty of the dates used to calculate the MDAs.Increasing sample size initially decreased the mean residual error and standard deviation calculated by each method. At higher n-values(>~300 grains),calculated MDAs changed more slowly and the mean resid ual error increased or decreased depending on the method used.Increasing the p roportion of near-depositional-age grains and lowering measurement uncertainty decreased the number of measurements required for the calculated MDAs to stabilize and decreased the standard deviation in calculated MDAs of the 500 samples. Results of the two simulation scenarios show that the most successful way to increase the accuracy of a calculated M DA is by acquiring a large number of low-uncertainty measurements(300300)approach is used if the calculation of accurate MDAs are key to research goals.Other acquisition method s,such as high-to moderate-precision measurement methods(e.g.,1%-5%,2σ)acquiring low-to moderate-n datasets(50300).Additionally,they are most susceptible to producing erroneous MDAs due to contamination in the field or laboratory,or through disturbances of the youngest zircon’s U-Pb systematics(e.g.,lead loss).More conservative methods that still produce accurate MDAs and are less susceptible to contamination or lead loss include:youngest grain cluster at 1σunce rtainty(YGC 1σ),youngest grain clusterat 2σuncertainty(YGC 2σ),and youngest statistical population(YSP).The ages calculated by these methods may be more useful and appealing when fitting calculated MDAs in to pre-existing chronostratigraphic frameworks,as they are less likely to be younger than the true depositional age. From the results of our numerical models we illustrate what geologic processes(i.e.,tectonic or sedimentary)can be resolved using MDAs derived from strata of different ages.Daniel S.Coutts William A.Matthews Stephen M.Hubbard 2019Geoscience Frontiers2019,10,4:12
A 1 835 a tree-ring chronology and its preliminary analyses in Dulan region, Qinghai显示文摘TREE-ring analysis is one of the important ways for paleoclimatic reconstruction because tree-ring series of several hundred or even thousands of years are available, and can be matched orextended and accurately dated, and the tree rings can record changes in climate. In China, several thousand paleoclimatic series of data are obtained from the historical documents,Kang, XC Graumlich, LJ Sheppard, P 1997Chinese Science Bulletin1997,42,13:6
Paleoenvironmental implications of high-density records in Co-rich seamount crusts from the Pacific Ocean显示文摘Co-rich seamount crusts have been shown to possess great potential for providing information on paleoceanographic and paleoclimatic changes. High resolution data are essential to decipher and correctly understand such high-density records. With the development of modern microprobe techniques, detailed sampling of crusts can be performed and it is possible to retrieve detailed information about envi- ronmental changes recorded in the seamount crusts. We report here geochemical results of more than 40 elements (including all rare earth elements) of four Co-rich seamount crust samples, which were collected from seamounts in the central and western Pacific Ocean. These data were obtained with two micro-probe techniques: Electron Probe Micro Analyzer and Laser Ablation Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry. The chronological framework of the seamount crust samples was determined using the cos- mogenic 10Be and the Co-chronometer. Records of elemental composition, P, and Al/(Fe + Mn) and Y/Ho ratios across the sections of the four samples are used to identify paleoceanographic and paleoclimatic events over the past ~30 Ma. These data show that: (1) Al/(Fe + Mn) in the western Pacific seamount crust is a useful proxy for the assessment of changes of source materials related to the variability of the Asian monsoon; (2) P and Y/Ho can be used as proxies to infer biogenic episodes. Finally we discuss the methodology related to dating and micro-probe analysis used in crust study.WANG XiaoHong ZHOU LiPing WANG YiMin ZHANG XueHua LIU XiaoMing FAN XingTao LIU KeXin ZHOU JianXiong 2008Science China Earth Sciences2008,51,10:5
Refined chronology of prehistoric cultures and its implication for re-evaluating human-environment relations in the Hexi Corridor, northwest China显示文摘The reconstruction of high-resolution chronologies for prehistoric cultures is a prerequisite for understanding the history of human evolution and its relationship with environmental change, and is valuable for exploring the trajectory of transcontinental cultural exchanges in prehistoric time. The Hexi Corridor of northwest China was one of the earliest centers for long-distance culture exchange in the prehistoric world. The timing and sequence of cultural changes in this area remains poorly understood resulting from the lack of radiometric age control. This paper presents a refined radiocarbon(14 C) chronology to resolve the timing of human occupation and cultural evolution in the Hexi Corridor. Radiocarbon dating of crop remains, which have an annual life cycle, has the advantage of eliminating problems such as the carbon stored in ‘old wood’. As a result,14C dates from crop remains are used to test the validity of the14C dates derived from charcoal, bone and plant remains. The resultant database of ages is modelled using the Bayesian approach. The updated chronology presented in this paper shows generally good agreement with the original dates used to constrain cultural evolution in the Hexi Corridor. However, the occupation of the corridor by the Shajing and Shanma Late Bronze Age-Early Iron Age cultures appears to have taken place ~300 years later than previously thought. On the basis of comparing this updated chronology of cultural evolution with palaeoclimatic and historical records, it is proposed that the collapse of the Shajing and Shanma cultures occurred as a result of geopolitical impact rather than climate change.Yishi YANG Shanjia ZHANG Chris OLDKNOW Menghan QIU Tingting CHEN Haiming LI Yifu CUI Lele REN Guoke CHEN Hui WANG Guanghui DONG 2019Science China Earth Sciences2019,62,10:5
Geochronology and geochemistry of gneissic metagranites in eastern Dabie Mountains:Implications for the Neoproterozoic tectono-magmatism along the northeastern margin of the Yangtze Block显示文摘The gneissic metagranites with Neoproterozoic protolith ages are widely exposed along the eastern margin of the Dabie ultra-high-pressure(UHP) metamorphic belt.In this paper, five representative plutons, including Huangzhen,Daba,Shima,Shuanghe, and Sanzusi, were selected for a detailed chronological and geochemical study aiming to identify the nature of the protoliths and to reveal their implications for the Neoproterozoic tectono-magmatic evolution along the northeastern margin of the Yangtze Block. These gneissic metagranites consist mainly of quartz, albite(oligoclase) and K-feldspar,and minor amphibole and biotite,as well as some metamorphic minerals due to the UHP metamorphism, such as phengite, epidote and minor kyanite and garnet.Mafic alkaline minerals(e.g.,aegirine or aegirine-augite) have been observed in some of these plutons.Zircon LA-ICP-MS U-Pb dating results indicate that the protoliths of the gneissic metagranites have been generated in Mid-Neoproterozoic(770-780 Ma),and suffered both ultrahigh-pressure metamorphism in Early Mesozoic and subsequently high-pressure eclogite-facies recrystallization at about 215 Ma.Although the gneissic metagranites generally have high SiO2 contents(70.23%-77.23%) and show metaluminous-weakly peraluminous signatures(ASI=0.90-1.05),there are still some geochemical variances between different plutons.Compared with the Sanzusi pluton, the metagranites from the Huangzhen,Daba,Shima, and Shuanghe have high K2O+Na2O contents(7.76%-9.45%),FeOtotal/(FeOtotal+MgO) ratios(0.82-0.96),HFSEs and Ga concentrations with an average 104×Ga/Al ratio up to 3.07.Combined with the features that the four plutons commonly contain aegirine-augite and have high zircon saturation temperatures(816-918°C),it is suggested that their proto-liths belong to peralkaline A-type granites. The Sanzusi pluton generally contains biotite and epidote generated from metamorphic reaction of amphibole, and is chemically enriched in calcium and depleted in potassium with K2O/Na2O ratios ranging from 0.42 to 0.54,suggesting their protoliths should be ascribed to calc-alkaline granitoids(I-type).The gneissic metagranites in the eastern margin of Dabie Mountains show both arc-and rift-like geochemical signatures, and their protoliths likely have been generated by reworking of the preexisting arc-related crust under an extensional setting, suggesting that the northeastern margin of the Yangtze Block during the Middle Neoproterozoic likely have been under the initial stage of a passive rifting rather than in an active rifting setting typically induced by the upwelling of a mantle plume.Jian Hu JianSheng Qiu XiSheng Xu XiaoLei Wang Zhen Li 2010Science China Earth Sciences2010,53,4:5
RADIAL GROWTH OF HUASHAN PINE AND ITS RESPONSE TO CLIMATE显示文摘Huashan pine (Finus armandii Franch) is a poential species for dendroclimatic study. Ring-width cores were sampled for four stands of two sites from the eastern extreme of the Qinling Mountains. The ring-width chronologies developed in this study cover a maximum Period from A.D. 1359 t0 1992 and show high common chronology variance over the common period 1911-1960.All the chronologies are significantly correlated with all others, and the degree of correlation appears related to tree age. Response function analyses reveal that from 41 to 75 Percent of chronology variance can be accounted for by monthly mean air temperature and monthly total precipitation. A sufficiently strong correlation of ringwidth index with May and June rainfall and June temperature exists, implying soil moisture to be a limiting factor for Huashan pine growth. The association displayed by response diagrams between narrow rings, low precipitation, and high temperature during spring and early summer indicates a promising potential of ring widths for reconstruction of spring drought for the study area.Shao Xuemei, Wu Xiangding(Institute of Geography, CAS, Beijing 100101 People’s Republic of China)Xi’an Laboratory of Loess and Quaternary Geology, CAS,xi’an 710061 People’s Republic of China) 1994Journal of Geographical Sciences1994,4,Z2:5

Rb-Sr chronological characteristics of Jurassic granitoid gravels in north margin of Dabie block,Central China显示文摘Granitoid gravels are discovered from alluvial fan conglomerates, the base of Jurassic Fenghuangtai Formation (J22), in the north margin of Dabie block and the south part of the Hefei Basin. These granitoid gravels make up 5%-10% of all gravels by volume percent. For the four components, K-feldspar, biotite, amphibole and whole rock divided from two selected granitoid gravel samples, their Rb-Sr isotopes are measured, which gives two formation ages of granitoids: (428±20) Ma and (430±54) Ma, and means that the Early Paleozoic granitoid intrusive rocks once existed in the Dabie Mountain provenances of Jurassic. The granitoids occur in the tectonic setting of post-collision upliftaccording to lithogeochemical discriminant analysis.Li Zhong Li Renwei Sun Shu Zhang Wenhua 2001Chinese Science Bulletin2001,46,13:3
Establishment of tree-ring chronology and climatic response of Tibetan juniper(S.tibetica) in south Tibet, western China显示文摘A tree-ring width chronology of 442 years(1567-2008) was developed from Tibetan junipers(S.tibetica) derived from south Tibet in western China.Three versions of chronology were produced according to standard dendrochronological techniques. The correlation and response analysis displays a high correlation between the standard tree ring-width chronology and observed annual mean precipitation series during the period 1961-2008.Based on a linear regression model,an annual(prior August to current July) precipitation for the past 229 years was reconstructed. This is the first well-calibrated precipitation reconstruction for the Nanggarze region, south Tibet. The results show that relatively wet years with above-average precipitation occurred in 1780-1807,1854-1866,1886-1898,1904-1949,1967-1981 and 2000-2008,whereas relatively dry years with below-average precipitation prevailed during 1808-1853,1867-1885,1899-1903,1950-1966 and 1982-1999.Common dry/wet periods during 1890s,1910s,1940s-1960s and 1980s were also identified from other moisture reconstructions of nearby regions, indicating a synchronous climatic variation in south Tibet.Abrupt change beginning in 1888 was detected, revealing a transition from wet to dry conditions in south Tibet.Power spectrum analysis reveals significant cycles of 28-year,5.5-5.6-year and 3.3-year during the past 200 years.Dmitry M.Sonechkin 2010Research in Cold and Arid Regions2010,2,6:3
Jurassic integrative stratigraphy and timescale of China显示文摘The Jurassic stratigraphy in China is dominated by continental sediments. Marine facies and marine-terrigenous facies sediment have developed locally in the Qinghai-Tibet area, southern South China, and northeast China. The division of terrestrial Jurassic strata has been argued, and the conclusions of biostratigraphy and isotope chronology have been inconsistent.During the Jurassic period, the North China Plate, South China Plate, and Tarim Plate were spliced and formed the prototype of ancient China. The Yanshan Movement has had a profound influence on the eastern and northern regions of China and has formed an important regional unconformity. The Triassic-Jurassic boundary(201.3 Ma) is located roughly between the Haojiagou Formation and the Badaowan Formation in the Junggar Basin, and between the Xujiahe Formation and the Ziliujing Formation in the Sichuan Basin. The early Early Jurassic sediments generally were lacking in the eastern and central regions north of the ancient Dabie Mountains, suggesting that a clear uplift occurred in the eastern part of China during the Late Triassic period when it formed vast mountains and plateaus. A series of molasse-volcanic rock-coal strata developed in the northern margin of North China Craton in the Early Jurassic and are found in the Xingshikou Formation, Nandailing Formation, and Yaopo Formation in the West Beijing Basin. The geological age and markers of the boundary between the Yongfeng Stage and Liuhuanggou Stage are unclear. About 170 Ma ago, the Yanshan Movement began to affect China. The structural system of China changed from the near east-west Tethys or the Ancient Asia Ocean tectonic domain to the north-north-east Pacific tectonic domain since 170–135 Ma. A set of syngenetic conglomerate at the bottom of the Haifanggou or Longmen Fms. represented another set of molasse-volcanic rock-coal strata formed in the Yanliao region during the Middle Jurassic Yanshan Movement(Curtain A1). The bottom of the conglomerate is approximately equivalent to the boundary of the Shihezi Stage and Liuhuanggou Stage. The bottom of the Manas Stage creates a regional unconformity in northern China(about 161 Ma, Volcanic Curtain of the Yanshan Movement, Curtain A2). The Jurassic Yanshan Movement is likely related to the southward subduction of the Siberian Plate to the closure of the Mongolia-Okhotsk Ocean. A large-scale volcanic activity occurred in the Tiaojishan period around 161–153 Ma. Note that 153 Ma is the age of the bottom Tuchengzi Formation, and the bottom boundary of the Fifth Stage of the Jurassic terrestrial stage in China should have occurred earlier than this. This activity was marked by a warming event at the top of the Toutunhe Formation, and the change in the biological assembly is estimated to be 155 Ma. The terrestrial Jurassic-Cretaceous boundary(ca. 145.0 Ma) in the Yanliao region should be located in the upper part of Member 1 of the Tuchengzi Formation, the Ordos Basin in the upper part of the Anding Formation, the Junggar Basin in the upper part of the Qigu Formation, and the Sichuan Basin in the upper part of the Suining Formation The general characteristics of terrestrial Jurassic of China changed from the warm and humid coal-forming environment of the Early-Middle Jurassic to the hot, dry, red layers in the Late Jurassic. With the origin and development of the Coniopteris-Phoenicopsis flora, the Yanliao biota was developed and spread widely in the area north of the ancient Kunlun Mountains, ancient Qinling Mountains, and ancient Dabie Mountain ranges in the Middle Jurassic, and reached its great prosperity in the Early Late Jurassic and gradually declined and disappeared and moved southward with the arrival of a dry and hot climate.Diying HUANG 2019Science China Earth Sciences2019,62,1:3
Tree ring based drought variability in Northwest Tajikistan since 1895 AD显示文摘Determining the mechanisms controlling the changes of wet and dry conditions will improve our understanding of climate change over the past hundred years, which is of great significance to the study of climate and environmental changes in the arid regions of Central Asia.Forest trees are ecologically significant in the local environment, and therefore the tree ring analysis can provide a clear record of regional historical climate. This study analyzed the correlation between the tree ring width chronology of Juniperus turkestanica Komarov and the standardized precipitation evapotranspiration index(SPEI)in Northwest Tajikistan, based on 56 tree ring samples collected from Shahristan in the Pamir region.Climate data including precipitation, temperature and the SPEI were downloaded from the Climate Research Unit(CRU)TS 4.00.The COFECHA program was used for cross-dating,and the ARSTAN program was used to remove the growth trend of the tree itself and the influence of non-climatic factors on the growth of the trees.A significant correlation was found between the radial growth of J.turkestanica trees and the monthly mean SPEI of February–April. The monthly mean SPEI sequence of February–April during the period of 1895–2016 was reconstructed, and the reconstruction equation explained 42.5%of the variance.During the past 122 a(1895–2016),the study area has experienced three wetter periods(precipitation above average):1901–1919,1945–1983 and 1995–2010,and four drier periods(precipitation below average):1895–1900,1920–1944,1984–1994 and 2011–2016.The spatial correlation analysis revealed that the monthly mean SPEI reconstruction sequence of February–April could be used to characterize the large-scale dry-wet variations in Northwest Tajikistan during the period of 1895–2016.This study could provide comparative data for validating the projections of climate models and scientific basis for managing water resources in Tajikistan in the context of climate change.YANG Meilin YU Yang ZHANG Haiyan WANG Qian GAN Miao YU Ruide 2020Journal of Arid Land2020,12,3:2
Early Paleozoic (Pan African) thermal event of the Larsemann Hills and its neighbours, Prydz Bay, East Antarctica显示文摘The early Paleozoic (Pan African) thermal event of the Larsemann Hills and its adjacent areas, East Antarctica is discussed based upon the isotope ages we obtained. An Sm-Nd internal isochron for a representative mafic granulite yields an age of 540 Ma±75 Ma. Another Sm-Nd internal isochron, which is made up of the assemblage of the peak metamorphism and its whole rock as well, gives an age of 497 Ma ± 7 Ma The isotopic chronological data of single zircon stepwise evaporation dating and 40Ar-39Ar analysis provide further evidence for the early Paleozoic event of high-grade metamorphism in the region. The data from the field geological investigation in the Larsemann Hills also show that there is not only strong regional partial melting but also low-pressure granulite-facies metamorphism accompanied by it in the region. The early Paleozoic (Pan African) thermal event of the region may be related to the final formation of the East Antarctica craton, even of Gondwanaland.赵越 宋彪 张宗清 富云莲 陈廷愚 王彦斌 任留东 姚玉鹏 李继亮 刘小汉 1995Science China Chemistry1995,38,1:2
