TCM network pharmacology:A new trend towards combining computational, experimental and clinical approaches显示文摘Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)is a precious treasure of the Chinese nation and has unique advantages in the prevention and treatment of diseases. The holistic view of TCM coincides with the new generation of medical research paradigm characterized by network and system.TCM gave birth to a new method featuring holistic and systematic'network target',a core theory and method of network pharmacology.TCM is also an important research object of network pharmacology.TCM network pharmacology, which aims to understand the network-based biological basis of complex diseases,TCM syndromes and herb treatments, plays a critical role in the origin and development process of network pharmacology. This review introduces new progresses of TCM network pharmacology in recent years, including predicting herb targets, understanding biological foundation of diseases and syndromes, network regulation mechanisms of herbal formulae, and identifying disease and syndrome biomarkers based on biological network. These studies show a trend of combining computational, experimental and clinical approaches, which is a promising direction of TCM network pharmacology research in the future.Considering that TCM network pharmacology is still a young research field,it is necessary to further standardize the research process and evaluation indicators to promote its healthy development. | WANG Xin WANG Zi-Yi ZHENG Jia-Hui LI Shao | 2021 | Chinese Journal of Natural Medicines2021,19,1: | 55
Deep reinforcement learning-based joint task offloading and bandwidth allocation for multi-user mobile edge computing显示文摘The rapid growth of mobile internet services has yielded a variety of computation-intensive applications such as virtual/augmented reality. Mobile Edge Computing (MEC), which enables mobile terminals to offload computation tasks to servers located at the edge of the cellular networks, has been considered as an efficient approach to relieve the heavy computational burdens and realize an efficient computation offloading. Driven by the consequent requirement for proper resource allocations for computation offloading via MEC, in this paper, we propose a Deep-Q Network (DQN) based task offloading and resource allocation algorithm for the MEC. Specifically, we consider a MEC system in which every mobile terminal has multiple tasks offloaded to the edge server and design a joint task offloading decision and bandwidth allocation optimization to minimize the overall offloading cost in terms of energy cost, computation cost, and delay cost. Although the proposed optimization problem is a mixed integer nonlinear programming in nature, we exploit an emerging DQN technique to solve it. Extensive numerical results show that our proposed DQN-based approach can achieve the near-optimal performance。 | Liang Huang Xu Feng Cheng Zhang Liping Qian Yuan Wu | 2019 | Digital Communications and Networks2019,5,1: | 25
Energy-Efficient Computation Offloading and Resource Allocation in Fog Computing for Internet of Everything显示文摘With the dawning of the Internet of Everything(IoE) era, more and more novel applications are being deployed. However, resource constrained devices cannot fulfill the resource-requirements of these applications. This paper investigates the computation offloading problem of the coexistence and synergy between fog computing and cloud computing in IoE by jointly optimizing the offloading decisions, the allocation of computation resource and transmit power. Specifically, we propose an energy-efficient computation offloading and resource allocation(ECORA) scheme to minimize the system cost. The simulation results verify the proposed scheme can effectively decrease the system cost by up to 50% compared with the existing schemes, especially for the scenario that the computation resource of fog computing is relatively small or the number of devices increases. | Qiuping Li Junhui Zhao Yi Gong Qingmiao Zhang | 2019 | China Communications2019,16,3: | 19
Computational uncertainty principle in nonlinear ordinary differential equations (I)——Numerical results显示文摘In a majority of cases of long-time numerical integration for initial-value problems, roundoff error has received little attention. Using twenty-nine numerical methods, the influence of round-off error on numerical solutions is generally studied through a large number of numerical experiments. Here we find that there exists a strong dependence on machine precision (which is a new kind of dependence different from the sensitive dependence on initial conditions), maximally effective computation time (MECT) and optimal stepsize (OS) in solving nonlinear ordinary differential equations (ODEs) in finite machine precision. And an optimal searching method for evaluating MECT and OS under finite machine precision is presented. The relationships between MECT, OS, the order of numerical method and machine precision are found. Numerical results show that round-off error plays a significant role in the above phenomena. Moreover, we find two universal relations which are independent of the types of ODEs, initial | 李建平 曾庆存 丑纪范 | 2000 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2000,43,5: | 18
Two-dimensional materials for synaptic electronics and neuromorphic systems显示文摘Synapses in biology provide a variety of functions for the neural system. Artificial synaptic electronics that mimic the biological neuron functions are basic building blocks and developing novel artificial synapses is essential for neuromorphic computation. Inspired by the unique features of biological synapses that the basic connection components of the nervous system and the parallelism, low power consumption, fault tolerance, self-learning and robustness of biological neural systems, artificial synaptic electronics and neuromorphic systems have the potential to overcome the traditional von Neumann bottleneck and create a new paradigm for dealing with complex problems such as pattern recognition, image classification, decision making and associative learning. Nowadays, two-dimensional(2 D) materials have drawn great attention in simulating synaptic dynamic plasticity and neuromorphic computing with their unique properties. Here we describe the basic concepts of bio-synaptic plasticity and learning, the 2 D materials library and its preparation. We review recent advances in synaptic electronics and artificial neuromorphic systems based on 2 D materials and provide our perspective in utilizing 2 D materials to implement synaptic electronics and neuromorphic systems in hardware. | Shuiyuan Wang David Wei Zhang Peng Zhou | 2019 | Science Bulletin2019,64,15: | 10

Real-time intelligent big data processing:technology, platform, and applications显示文摘Human beings keep exploring the physical space using information means. Only recently, with the rapid development of information technologies and the increasing accumulation of data, human beings can learn more about the unknown world with data-driven methods. Given data timeliness, there is a growing awareness of the importance of real-time data. There are two categories of technologies accounting for data processing: batching big data and streaming processing, which have not been integrated well. Thus,we propose an innovative incremental processing technology named after Stream Cube to process both big data and stream data. Also, we implement a real-time intelligent data processing system, which is based on real-time acquisition, real-time processing, real-time analysis, and real-time decision-making. The real-time intelligent data processing technology system is equipped with a batching big data platform, data analysis tools, and machine learning models. Based on our applications and analysis, the real-time intelligent data processing system is a crucial solution to the problems of the national society and economy. | Tongya ZHENG Gang CHEN Xinyu WANG Chun CHEN Xingen WANG Sihui LUO | 2019 | Science China(Information Sciences)2019,62,8: | 8
Rock-soil slope stability analysis by two-phase random media and finite elements显示文摘To investigate the strong random nature of the geometric interfaces between soil and rock, a rock-soil slope is considered as a two-phase random medium. A nonlinear translation of a Gaussian field is utilized to simulate the two-phase random media, such that the soil(or rock) volume fraction and the inclination of the soil layer can be examined. The finite element method with random media incorporated as the material properties is used to determine the factor of safety of the rock-soil slope. Monte-Carlo simulations are used to estimate the statistical characteristics of the factor of safety. The failure mode of the rock-soil slope is examined by observing the maximum principal plastic strain at incipient slope failure. It is found that the critical surface of a rock-soil slope is fairly irregular, and it significantly differs from that of a pure soil slope. The factor of safety is sensitive to the soil volume faction, but it is predictable. The average factor of safety could be well predicted by the weighted harmonic average between the strength of soil and rock; the prediction model is practical and simple. Parametric studies on the inclination of the soil layer demonstrate that the most instable scenario occurs when the slope angle is consistent with the inclination of the soil layer. | Yong Liu Huawen Xiao Kai Yao Jun Hu Hong Wei | 2018 | Geoscience Frontiers2018,9,6: | 7

General approach for discrete simulation of complex systems显示文摘By applying a general algorithm to different particle models, i.e. molecular dynamic (MD) and macro-scale pseudo-particle models (MaPPM), two physical phenomena of distinct nature and scale differences, i.e. the mutual diffusion of two gases and the instability on the interface between two fluids, are simulated successfully. It demonstrates the possibility that the general algorithms of good parallelism and software of modular architecture can be established for complex physical systems based on the particle methods (PMs), which will thereby develop into a mainstream approach as finite element (FE) and finite difference (FD) approaches. | Wei Ge Jinghai Li | 2002 | Chinese Science Bulletin2002,47,14: | 7
Quantum private query: A new kind of practical quantum cryptographic protocol显示文摘This research aims to review the developments in the field of quantum private query(QPQ), a type of practical quantum cryptographic protocol. The primary protocol, as proposed by Jacobi et al., and the improvements in the protocol are introduced. Then, the advancements made in sability, theoretical security, and practical security are summarized. Additionally, we describe two new results concerning QPQ security. We emphasize that a procedure to detect outside adversaries is necessary for QPQ, as well as for other quantum secure computation protocols, and then briefly propose such a strategy. Furthermore, we show that the shift-and-addition or low-shift-and-addition technique can be used to obtain a secure real-world implementation of QPQ, where a weak coherent source is used instead of an ideal single-photon source. | Fei Gao SuJuan Qin Wei Huang QiaoYan Wen | 2019 | Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2019,62,7: | 6
Semiconductor quantum computation显示文摘Semiconductors, a significant type of material in the information era, are becoming more and more powerful in the field of quantum information. In recent decades, semiconductor quantum computation was investigated thoroughly across the world and developed with a dramatically fast speed. The research varied from initialization, control and readout of qubits, to the architecture of fault-tolerant quantum computing. Here, we first introduce the basic ideas for quantum computing, and then discuss the developments of single-and two-qubit gate control in semiconductors. Up to now, the qubit initialization, control and readout can be realized with relatively high fidelity and a programmable two-qubit quantum processor has even been demonstrated. However, to further improve the qubit quality and scale it up, there are still some challenges to resolve such as the improvement of the readout method, material development and scalable designs. We discuss these issues and introduce the forefronts of progress. Finally, considering the positive trend of the research on semiconductor quantum devices and recent theoretical work on the applications of quantum computation, we anticipate that semiconductor quantum computation may develop fast and will have a huge impact on our lives in the near future. | Xin Zhang Hai-Ou Li Gang Cao Ming Xiao Guang-Can Guo Guo-Ping Guo | 2019 | National Science Review2019,6,1: | 6
On fractional control method for four-wheel-steering vehicle显示文摘Four-wheel-steering (4WS) system can enhance vehicle cornering ability by steering the rear wheels in accordance with the front wheels steering and vehicle status. With such steering control system, it becomes possible to improve the lateral stability and handling performance. In this paper, a new control method for 4WS vehicle is proposed, its rear wheels steering angle is in accordance with the angle of front wheels steering and vehicle yaw rate, and the effects of front wheels steering angle velocity are considered by adopting the fractional derivative theory. Some design specifications for control law are also given. The effects of the control method are verified by a kind of numerical scheme presented in this paper. The dynamic characteristics such as the side-slip angle and the yaw angle velocity of the vehicle gravity center are compared among three kinds of vehicles with different control methods. And the kinematics characteristics such as turning radius between 4WS and 2WS are also discussed. Nu- merical simulation shows that the control method presented can improve the transient response and reduce the turning radius of 4WS vehicle. | CHEN Ning CHEN Nan CHEN YanDong | 2009 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2009,52,3: | 6

Impact of the equivalent center of mass separating from the sliding surface on the isolation performance of friction pendulum bearings显示文摘A new equivalent center of mass model of FPBs(friction pendulum bearings) is introduced, and based on this model, coefficient j of the equivalent center of mass separating from the sliding surface is defined. It is thought in theory that j has a significant impact on the isolation parameter of FPBs, since the equivalent post-yielding stiffness and friction coefficients are not simply determined by sliding radius and sliding friction pairs. The results of numerical simulation analysis using ABAQUS conducted on two groups of FPBs support this viewpoint. For FPBs with the same sliding radius and sliding friction pairs, the FPB modules of structural analysis software such as ETABS could only distinguish the equivalent transformation using j one by one. The seismic response data obtained in a base isolation calculation example of FPBs are very different, which reveals that j's impact on the isolation effectiveness of FPBs cannot be ignored. The introduction of j will help improve the classical structural theory of FPBs and the weak points of structural analysis software based on this theory, which is important in achieving more accurate analyses in structural design. | Xia Junyong Ning Xiangliang Tan Ping Hao Hongxiao Chen Guoping | 2015 | Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration2015,14,4: | 5
Simplification and normalization of indexed differentials involving coordinate transformation显示文摘In nD differential geometry, basic geometric structures and properties are described locally by differentiable functions and equations with indices that obey Einstein summation convention. Although symbolic manipulation of such indexed functions is one of the oldest research topics in computer algebra, so far there exists no normal form reduction algorithm to judge whether two indexed polynomials involving indices of different coordinate systems are equal or not. It is a challenging task in computer algebra. In this paper, for a typical framework—the partial derivatives in coordinate transformation matrix involved are of order no more than two (such as local computations of ordinary curvatures and tor-sion), we put forward two algorithms, one on elimination of all redundant dummy indices of indexed polynomials, the other on normalization of such indexed polynomials, by which we can judge whether two indexed polynomials are equal or not. We implement the algorithms with Maple V.10 and use them to solve tensor verification problems in differential geometry, and to derive automatically the transformation rules of locally defined indexed functions under the change of local coordinates. | LIU Jiang LI HongBo CAO YuanHao | 2009 | Science China Mathematics2009,52,10: | 4

Quantum Cosine Transform Based Watermarking Scheme for Quantum Images显示文摘A novel watermarking scheme for quantum image is proposed based on Quantum cosine transform(QCT). The cosine coefficients are extracted by executing QCT on quantum image. A dynamic vector for controlling embedding strength instead of a fixed parameter for embedding process in other scheme is utilized to process quantum watermark. The adder operation and the inverse QCT are implemented which offset the QCT and guarantee the embedding process having smaller impact on the quantum carrier image. Simulation results and analysis show that the proposed dynamic watermarking scheme has better visual quality under a higher embedding capacity. | WANG Shen SONG Xianhua NIU Xiamu | 2015 | Chinese Journal of Electronics2015,24,2: | 4
