| 1 | Purification of solar cell silicon materials through filtration显示文摘Silicon is the material most commonly used in the manufacturing of photovoltaic (PV) cells. In the current study, laboratory experiments of purification of solar cell silicon materials through filtration are carried out. Inclusion removal from silicon was investigated. The purpose is to achieve clean silicon materials for solar cells. Silicon samples and filter samples were analyzed using microscope observation, EPMA, and X-ray detection. Silicon nitride (Si3N4) and silicon carbide (SiC) particles are the main non-metallic inclusions present in top-cut silicon scrap. Almost all inclusions larger than 10 μm can be removed from silicon by the porous foam filter. In mass fraction, more than 90% inclusions are removed. Si3N4 particles are mainly removed on the top surface of the filter, and SiC particles are mainly removed by entering the pores and attaching to the filter material. SiC inclusions are not only simply attached on the surface of the filter material, but are found also inside the filter material. There are SiC bridges near the filter materials. These bridges may fill the spaces between filter material, and this will further retard inclusions passing through the filter. Three-dimensional turbulent fluid flow and inclusion motion in the filter was calculated. | 2 | Association of Persistent Minimal Residual Disease with Poor Outcomes of Patients with Acute Myeloid Leukemia Undergoing Allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation显示文摘Background: Several studies have shown that detection of minimal residual disease (MRD) in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is an independent prognostic factor. This study aimed to evaluate the significance of dynamic MRD pretransplantation on outcome of AML patients receiving allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo?HSCT). Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 145 consecutive AML patients undergoing allo?HSCT in complete remission status between June 2013 and June 2016. MRD was determined with multiparameter flow cytometry after the first and second courses of chemotherapy and pre?HSCT. Results: In matched sibling donor transplantation (MSDT) settings, patients with positive MRD had higher cumulative incidence of relapse (CIR) than those without MRD after the first (32.3 ± 9.7% vs. 7.7 ± 3.1%, χ2 = 3.661, P = 0.055) or second course of chemotherapy (57.1 ± 3.6% vs. 12.5 ± 2.7%, χ2 = 8.759, P = 0.003) or pre?HSCT (50.0 ± 9.7% vs. 23.0 ± 3.2%, χ2 = 5.547, P = 0.019). In haploidentical SCT (haplo?SCT) settings, the MRD status at those timepoints had no significant impact on clinical outcomes. However, patients with persistent positive MRD from chemotherapy to pre?HSCT had higher CIR than those without persistent positive MRD both in MSDT and haplo?SCT settings. Patients with persistent positive MRD underwent MSDT had the highest relapse incidence, followed by those with persistent positive MRD underwent haplo?SCT, those without persistent MRD underwent haplo?SCT, and those without persistent MRD underwent MSDT (66.7 ± 9.2% vs. 38.5 ± 6.0% vs. 18.8 ± 8.7% vs. 12.0 ± 1.0%, χ2 = 20.763, P < 0.001). Multivariate analysis showed that persistent positive MRD before transplantation was associated with higher CIR (hazard ratio [HR] = 1.69, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.200–2.382, P = 0.003), worse leukemia?free survival (HR = 1.812, 95% CI: 1.168–2.812, P = 0.008), and overall survival (HR = 2.354, 95% CI: 1.528–3.627, P < 0.001). | 3 | Design and Simulation of Flow Field for Bone Tissue Engineering Sca old Based on Triply Periodic Minimal Surface显示文摘A novel method was proposed to design the structure of a bone tissue engineering scafold based on triply periodic minimal surface.In this method,reverse engineering software was used to reconstruct the surface from point cloud data.This method overcomes the limitations of commercially available software packages that prevent them from generating models with complex surfaces used for bone tissue engineering scafolds.Additionally,the fluid feld of the scafolds was simulated through a numerical method based on fnite volume and the cell proliferation performance was evaluated via an in vitro experiment.The cell proliferation and the mass flow evaluated in a bioreactor further verifed the flow feld simulated using computational fluid dynamics.The result of this study illustrates that the pressure value drops rapidly from 0.103 Pa to 0.011 Pa in the y-axis direction and the mass flow is unevenly distributed in the outlets.The mass flow in the side outlets is observed to be approximately 24.3 times higher thanthe bottom.Importantly,although the mean value of wall shear stress is signifcantly more than 0.05 Pa,there is stil a large area with a suitable shear stress below 0.05 Pa where most cells can proliferate well.The result shows that th inlet velocity 0.0075 m/s is suitable for cell proliferation in the scafold.This study provides an insight into the design analysis,and in vitro experiment of a bone tissue engineering scafold. | Zhen Wang Chuanzhen Huang Jun Wang Peng Wang Shisheng Bi Ch Asad Abbas | 2019 | Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2019,32,2: | 2 |

The effects of stirring speed, temperature and specific interfacial area on the extraction rate were examined. The results indicate that mass transfer kinetics of La(III) is a mixed-controlled process influenced by interfacial reaction. On the basis of mass transfer kinetic results in the extraction of La(III) by [A336][CA-12], the extraction rate equation of La(III) is proposed in terms of pseudo-firstorder constants, which is supported by the measured thermodynamic equations. | 13 | Microfluidic three-dimensional biomimetic tumor model for studying breast cancer cell migration and invasion in the presence of interstitial flow显示文摘Cell migration and invasion are critical steps in cancer metastasis,which are the major cause of death in cancer patients.Tumor-associated macrophages(TAMs)and interstitial flow(IF)are two important biochemical and biomechanical cues in tumor microenvironment,play essential roles in tumor progression.However,their combined effects on tumor cell migration and invasion as well as molecular mechanism remains largely unknown.In this work,we developed a microfluidic-based 3 D breast cancer model by co-culturing tumor aggregates,macrophages,monocytes and endothelial cells within 3 D extracellular matrix in the presence of IF to study tumor cell migration and invasion.On the established platform,we can precisely control the parameters related to tumor microenvironment and observe cellular responses and interactions in real-time.When co-culture of U937 with human umbilical vein endothelial cells(HUVECs)or MDA-MB-231 cells and tri-culture of U937 with HUVECs and MDA-MB-231 cells,we found that mesenchymal-like MDA-MB-231 aggregates activated the monocytes to TAM-like phenotype macrophages.MDA-MB-231 cells and IF simultaneously enhanced the macrophages activation by the stimulation of colony-stimulating factor 1(CSF-1).The activated macrophages and IF further promoted vascular sprouting via vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGFα)signal and tumor cell invasion.This is the first attempt to study the interaction between macrophages and breast cancer cells under IF condition.Taken together,our results provide a new insight to reveal the important physiological and pathological processes of macrophages-tumor communication.Moreover,our established platform with a more mimetic 3 D breast cancer model has the potential for drug screening with more accurate results. | Chao Song Dan Gao Tianying Yuan Yongli Chen Liping Liu Xiaowu Chen Yuyang jiang | 2019 | Chinese Chemical Letters2019,30,5: | 1 |

| 17 | Hepatic Bel-7402 Cell Proliferation on Different Phospholipid Surfaces显示文摘Phospholipids are believed to be important biomaterials. However, limited information is available on their cytocompatibilities. The objective of this study is to evaluate the effects of different phospholipids on the proliferation of hepatic Bel\|7402 cells by comparing the adhesion, viability and proliferation of Bel\|7402 cells cultured on different phospholipid surfaces. The cell adhesion, determined by counting the number of adhered cells to the surface, indicated that the cell adhesion was enhanced on charged phospolipid membranes. The cell viability evaluated by MTT\[3\|(4,5\|dimethylthiazole\|2\|yl)\|2,5\|diphenyl tetrazolium\|bromide\] showed that cells cultured on charged phospholipids have greater viability than those cultured on the control, while cells cultured on neutral phospholipids showed lower viability. The cell cycle analysis using flow cytometry demonstrated that S phase entry increased on charged phospholipids, while S phase entry decreased on neutral phospholipids. | 18 | Morphological Study on the Mechanism of Tumor-selective Cytocidal Action of Tumor Necrosis Factor显示文摘Using light microscopy and electron microscopy, we observed the morphological changes inheuman hepatocellular carcinoma cell line (SMMC-7721) treated with tumor necrosis tumor necrosis factor (TNF)and the cytocidal effect of TNF on the heterotransplanted human hepatocellular carcinoma. It wasfound that the changes of the injury occurred earlier in the cell membranes than in the nuclei duringthe course of TNF killing of SMMC-7721 cells and there were similar lesions around the necroticarea in the heterotransplanted human hepatocellular carcinoma in the nude mice as compared withthose produced in SMMC-7721 cells. In addition, the determination of the DNA content in TNF-treated SMMC-7721 cells and controls revealed no significant difference between them. Compared with patients in inactive period, the percentage of CD4^+T cells in peripheral bLood from SS patients in the active stage increased (P>0.05), the percentage of CD8^+T cells decreased (P>0.05), and the ration of CD4^+/ CD8^+T cells increased (P<0.05).Compared with control groups, the percentage of CD69 expressed on T cells in peripheral blood from SS patients decreased, and the percentage of CD95's expression increased (P<0.05).The percentage of CD69CD95's expression also increased (P>0.05). There were no differences among CD4^+T cells, CD8^+T ceLs and CD4^+/ CD8^+ in peripheral blood from SS patients of different TCM Syndromes (P>0.05). CD69 and CD95's expression on SS patients of different TCM Syndromes was no significantLy different (P>0.05).T cell receptor Vβ(TCR Vβ) subfamilies gene in peripheral blood from SS patients and control groups were expressed in all.
